RomanceRe: Ladies Only: What Attributes Get U Smitten Over A Guy At 1st & then 2nd Sight by esere826:
talina: Tall, very dark, and how he handles himself. Some attraction is indescribable. Mannn, I was practcally stalking a guy like this today in the grocery store ! I was melting! tongue
Dont even mention money as a factor angry It could never be one
But guys funny sha.

Our dear sisters are giving us the "right buttons to push to get to their hearts and pynts" (ref: kitty kat 2012, pp1 grin), and una dey here dey suffer from unbelief. kai!!!

so so money, money, money na im una dey use take block una mindset(infact i go open thread explain wetin money really mean). Yet boys they hala for hoda threads say "help how do i toast a woman?"

What i c from this is that if u r d one tripping for a gal (especially if ur interested in bedding her yesterday), and d gal no send u. then u go spend plenty money.

But if d girl dey trip for u, make u forget money as a key factor. In order words create an aura that will get chiks like Talina, kitty kat, shollpopz, cindyrella etc salivating, obsessing and stalking u.

As for me, gals don use style toast me even wen I no get money. The only problem b say many times, no be d kine chiks wen I dey sex.ually attracted to. But half bread is better than chinchin.

In fact em, if u understand gals em, u no need to think of d 7 wen dey wait u for paradise. Dem plenty and available wel, wel for ur grocery shop or kiosk closest to u. So what r u waiting for? hurry and grab ur copy while stock lasts. Rememember even GREATER VALUE at discount cost!!! grin kiss

cindyrella: Well you LIE!!
I generally agree with you and other ladies here make I tok true.

Guys, lets give the ladies a break. Speaking straight faced, I don't think ladies r all about money. me thinks that what dey deeply desire is a shield,.. a male shield.

This shield/protection/provider cld be expressed as money, male strenght or physique, male bravoda, male se.xual mantle etc depending on the context that the girl finds herself.

So if d gal papa rich, and she rich, she might not be thinking of the guy having a fat account, maybe him just coming from an influential familly with a strong name would do.

If d gal dey school and her papa hol, she might be thinking more of a clean confra boy that has the aura of protection

If the gal short small, and all her sisters and girlfriends they use hight oppress am, she might tend to go for a guy that is on the big side but with a respectable amount of cash to provide an iroko support for her

If the gal no hol, or hol small, but her papa broke wel wel plus say she dey take care of her siblings she might be thinking of a guy whose wallet is fat eneough to provide for her and her present and future family.

Its just sad that in 9ja, gals are an endangered specie without equal rights in career so I guess this might be why many tend to go for guys with fat wallets

I also think that as sharp guys, our goals would be that despite our inadequacies we try to create an impression that will make the gals feel that they've met their supermen.

So please iron ur shirts, stand erect, and shine ur shoes properly wen u no get money. Its a small price to pay in order to press freshly baked bread grin

RomanceRe: Is This An Insult OR An Honourable Thing To Do? by esere826: 7:21pm On Jul 14, 2012
sweetcheecks: Hi guys,
Do you expert a woman to payback a loan made to her while you were dating, after you break up?
I really would like to hear your views. If you lent your girlfriend money, do you expect her to pay you back after you break up? Or would you be offended if your ex suddenly pays you back every cent you have ever given her?

A friend wants to payback a loan to her ex but insist on giving him back even the money he gave her?

Is this an insult or an honourable thing to do?
Definitely return the loan

As for 'paying back' every other money!! Was the relationship a transaction?

I feel really irrated when ladies scream about equal rights, and how their guys must zip their pants, but yet make 'collecting of money' from men a strong feature of their relationships as this case shows.

Don't you understand that this leads to a power differential in relationships fuelling male behaviour, and the degenerate way men perceive women generally.

I mean if we are talking of the lady returning money (apart from the loan) here, how come the guy is not also returning something tangible like money, shirts etc huh?

Obviuosly she wasnt giviving any thing tangible, .. probably just se.x and cooking. ....shame, shame
CultureRe: Nigerians Love Prayers More Than Actions by esere826: 2:45pm On Jul 12, 2012
all4naija: They say, action speaks louder than words. But, in Nigeria the reverse is always the case. There are curious reasons behind what has now become part of the culture of the people, going by lazy attitude to find solution and the ignorance to question what they believes. There are clear evidences of comments posted on Nairaland community to support the claim of the topic. These evidences significantly represent the reality on ground, of what is happening the Nigerian society.

Now, why do Nigerians love to pray more than to act?
Because we've watched people b4 us WORK HARD without any result, and guess what! they don't blame God but the devil

We've also watched people including our pastors not doing much tangible stuff but yet buying private jets and dating the prettier girls, and guess what! they say its God that did it through their PRAYER grin

So as humans, we only take the route that we feel is easier, or at least won't cost us much. The only thing that is spoiling this route is that the pastors have further informed us that God has instructed that they take custody of a significant portion of our money.

Well, we are presently trying this, and if it doesnt work, those after us will then adopt new strategies .. maybe aetheism like the Europeans did

PoliticsRe: If Boko Haram Continues... Discuss by esere826: 11:00am On Jul 12, 2012
Beaf: The nation will simply split. Already, the Middle Belt is calling for break up.
Can someone tell me how elections will take place in Borno, Bauchi, Yobe (maybe Kano and Kaduna) come 2015?

A pic speaks a thousand words. cool
If the Boko Haram menace continues at this pace (without escalating further),.....'Elections' the way we know it in 9ja will still take place in those regions come 2015 except the relevant authorities go ahead to stop it which they definitely wont. Corpers are still being posted to these regions due to a mixture a political naivity, and (i suspect)in order to ensure a steady cash flow for some concerned parties.

With such being the case, the government (execs, legislators, judiciary, INEC, police etc) would not dare to stop elections on a whole scale accross those regions mentioned. People might not go out to vote, but nevertheless there would be huge voters results, and the process would be manged by the Nothern princes for obvious reasons.

These princes/aristocrats are not interested in Nigeria splitting. Under the present circumstances, a split can only be driven by the south or the middlebelt. But you see, as Nigerians we all have a high tolerance level.

Under these present circumstances, 'the split' might only be instigated if an 'influential, loved, big shot' middlebelt or southerner is killed by boko haram. Na only the death of big men dey affect Nigerians

kokosheen: Sometimes I wonder what happened to our education system! haba.

1) You are quoting from wikipedia, a good source for info., but u should know by now that its not a source of fact.... Its an open source that anyone (tom, dick&harry)can contribute to
2) How come the so called largest structure in the world is being compared to Sungbo's Eredo! Mehn, u see pyramids, stonehedge, etc and you comparing something built with mud & sticks. FYI, I have read about the benin wall and it was at most 4 feet high and didn't even go round the present benin town.
3) How can a British expedition burn down the wall! Expedition that cannot be more than a 100 men burn down Mankind's largest ever construction. Haba!!

OP, I know its good to project your town and ancestry (bla bla bla bla), but u shouldn't be quick to quote stuff that can't stand up to logic. My apologies for being too blunt, I reviewing someone's crazy CV and I tot I could take a break on NL.
"Stonehedge"huh?? Am I seeing/hearing/reading correctly

Jeez, Jeez, Jeez!!!!!!. My brother, no vex o, but I honestly don't think u're qualified to review someone's CV.

Do you also know that this is just a collection of some fe stone withou any defined pattern
Do u know that the brit's are actually se'xing up this 'your great wonder' to make it gain historical status

Jeez!!!!

Although u made a fine point on the ills of using Wikipedia as a referencing tool, however from the general thrust of ur comment I can boldly say that...Our educational system is indeed in trouble oooo, from the likes of u that have been give ascendency to review other ppls cv's and sieve out brigther brains as is evident in ur contribution.

afam4eva: You wey know. Do you have any concrete proof that such existed?
lol.

This is some evidence: As a kid, I looked down at a portion of the 'moat', and it was scary and I can still remember it vividly. This actually got me to studying more about it. The 'valley' portion of the part that I looked down on was still deep, probably some 20something feet, while the 'mound' part wasn't that high.

For anyone that understands the physical and social sciences especially as it relates to this region of africa , it should come naturally to the person that weathering mainly due to erosion would have taken its toll on it through the hundreds of years of its existence. It would also make sense that unregulated builders would have maxed out the 'mound' parts to provide cheap laterite fillings for building construction work.

Hope this helps u Thomas

@PhysiccsQED and Rossikk et al

Thanks for putting this up and staunchly defending it against uninformed critics who would tear at their own panties to reveal their dangling balls.

CRITICS

Unfortunately, NL is not known as a place where intellects actually debate issues in other to arrive at solid constructs (even me sef, am guilty of this wen on this site)

STRATEGIC SIGNIFICANCE

Benin walls, ramps or moats as they are famously reffered to in Benin are definitely a biggie in the anals of the worlds history of civilization. That they were breached by the british does not in any way de-emphasise their monumental and strategic value (even to this day). Afterall, stories abound of how great civilizations with with sophisticated defence systems were breached. The biblical narration of the invasion of Babylon shows that the city was breached from a stream flowing thru it (hope i remember correctly). America's defences where breached on a monumental scale during the 9/11 attack. In fact, if that attack was carried out by a foreign nation with intent to destroy it, they most likely would have succeced bearing in mind the flaws in US scenario analysis for such situation).

SE.XING UP HISTORY

like I said, this is not a forum for deep intellectual debates, so I won't go into much details. But we must understand that one of the intellectual creativity that sets the west and developed nations apart is their ability to se.x up history. This is what we in Nigeria appear to fail in doing to our own history while we chase after the history of other nations even mentioning them in programs like "who wants to be a millionaire".

Do u really think that those stuff we watch on TV of great roman empires, zeus, golden chariots with sterlin streets, well nourished horses were really the case. Nope, the weren't. But they do serve a function of translating the glory as it were back then to how it would be if it were now. In order words, if u were alive back then, and looked in awe at those events, the aim is to make u feel that awe in the present were ur ability to be awed by such events have been diminished by skyscrappers and spacecrafts.

So please guys, sheath ur na.ked dangling balls back into its sack clothes were they belong and appreciate the efforts of these gentlemen.

mayorjo: This issue of cremation is of no good, cosz, after dat whatz nxt 2 do but to dispose. And ending it up into d sea brings out no point. But y not burry n 4get about it.
The ashes are not neccesarily thrown into the sea, neither do you have to barbecue the deceased over some firewood as some cultures do. Cremetation can be done in special purpose built machines, and the ashes buried in soil. Space is consequently saved, and with limited aesthetics and health harzrds.
.
stson: the lawmaker should show dat nothing is wrong with cremating by writing in their will 2 be cremated wen they die as a sign of leadership by example,if they think the dead do not deserved 2 be buried
Offcourse the 'rich' in Nigeria wont feel comfortable with this suggestion, ...But this is the clincher. the government desires to save money by cremating, in order words, they desire to have funds available for other pursuits.

They could simply do some social engineering by taxing any 'full body' burials that take place in lagos, no matter the premises that it is done. Probably 1 miilion naira per person. this could raise considerable funds from the rich who would be scared of cremation after death, while going ahead to cremate corpses that are not retrieved.

To acheive this, simply enact a law that says that any corps that is taken away from the mortuary would be levied the amount, and if corpses are not taken away after a certain timeline, they wld be cremated. ...shikena
So my ex of like 2 and a half years just came back from S/A and he calls dt we shud see. This is our story: wn we wer 2gethr, we wer in a non comited relatnship. @osifo

Forgive my bias, but you're a 1st class graduate in HR. I asked u some questions, and u didnt see the reason why I was asking u those questions (hope that wasn't sacarsm cos it sounded like it). i don't know much about u, but I hope u've got some fine social skills. Well, we'll let that pass.

Apart from what I've noted above most of the answers u've given for my unorthodox question tells me that u wouldn't have any issues in landing urself a job.

But we have some k-legs. Your answer to quest (5) and (4) are at variance. It would be quite tough juggling between having ur own successful business and pursuing a career in the UN at d same time. If you want to work in UN, ur posting to the school would have been very helpful on your CV,and u probably should have done(or could do) some voluntary work in (for) a UN affiliated project.

Still on the UN bit of your ambition, why dont u further ur studies in either a masters or directly in a phd research. With ur present grades, ur 'inexperience' shouldn't count when u finally hit the job market. Just pick a top 5 foreign school. U cld go a step further by actually researching UN and its 'affiliated' universities and vice versa.

Netwwork with UN staff by attending seminars (or other related events) that are specific to them. When u get to meet theses UN folks, don;t tell immediately that ur looking for a job, just toast them into adding u to their linkedin pages (hope u see why i was asking u about ur confidence in a fun way).

Gun for the strategic UN folks, and when you've become pals with them, broach the idea of doing ur research with their organisation, while showing them ur cv(please avoid being corky here).

This shld land u a UN Job in less than 5yrs from now even while schooling.

.....and pls, i don't think u shld dissipate ur energy on too many unrelated goals. U've alreadsy got what it takes.
just patience

Like most people in the world, we just want to worship our creator, simple. Most religions preach dogma where you don't question but just accept on faith so most people remain in the religion they were born into......BLAH,.............BLAH, .............BLAH...................I don't want quotes from the Bible as answers, any verse or quote can be twisted by anybody to give a million different interpretation and meaning. Thank you.

My friend, u've asked a pertinent question. Unfortunately, most 'religions' and their followers avoid (or don't ascribe to) rational logic, so don't expect much response, or at least logical ones, even from me

However, i think u've done urself a whole lot of good by starting out on this quest. If God is as mighty and yet granular as we say he his, then this can't be too small or big a question for him to answer.

With the same zeal burning in your heart, simply ask him/her. Something like this, "God, whoever you are, please share it with me".

He'll come for you. This i'm perfectly sure of.

In my first relationship, for how absurd it looks like to me now, I was pretty much a naive girl dreaming of Prince Charming. I was really convinced that I was going to get married to my first boyfriend. Well he did propose, but I turned him down because I was not satisfied with the motivations behind his proposal............blah, .........blah, ........blah............I believe with the right person, I can have the best relationship and marriage ever, but all the things I take for granted, are those things people seems to fail in most times. Woman pikin, I used to pride myself as having no patience for mumu people. Quite picky with my friends then, almost a snub i think. With time I grew out of it. I now actually enjoy the company of a variety of people, even learning how not to be yeye from my silly acquaintance (in my assessment).

I always tell myself and anyone that cares to listen that if everyone around me dey craze, then I might just be the silly one.I think what u need is wisdom. Pastor Joseph Prince preaching on the scripture:

"And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and LARGENESS OF HEART, even as the sand that is on the sea shore" (1King 4:29)

, explains that with largeness of heart, u would be patient with people while winning them over to your way of thinking which might be presently beyond what they can comprehend.

Loosen up, and ask God for wisdom. He'll give it 2 u sister dearest, and the grace to carry ur own man palava. I think he did the same for me.

Pls help i dont want my parents 2 assist me find a lady. I want to do it on my own. I want a lady i can treat as my sister, friend aswell my girlfriend/wife. Am waiting 4 ur advice
dude,

I'm not going to teach u how 2 be confident in approaching chiks because u have a short deadline b4 d age u want to be wen u marry.Confidence building go fit take time. Instead, make we use strategy wen fit ur situation.

1) buy a lot of male fashion magazines
2) try to immitate their dressence so that u go look sharp and attractive to gals
3) Go to church and join d choir or ushers

With dis, u go see many mature gals wen guys like us don break their hearts or dem don too commit havoc for world but wan settle down.

Dem go dey use style dey look u for a while, and when they realize that ur naive, they'll come for u with their guns blazing. There might only be 2 problems with this:
1) there might be more gals coming for u than u can handle
2) wen ur dating one of em, she might be doing extra time with someone else in d sideline just to satisfy her rough edges which u cannot cater for.
Can you explain? Just curious as to know why you believe your school was not good enough?
My unnamed Uni was very good. Infact excellent in knowledge transfer.. but that was not the perception of recruiters u see.

And come to think of it, why do people go on to further studies in Unis? afterall, some of us can actually self study to gain any knowledge we like.. just buy books and access to Athens and HBR. Much cheaper than the unis

''''we probably go to unis to be with other humans, network and for excellent job prospect (better than the previous ones).

Alora lord: Hmmm.. Maybe but she's too stubborn..I tried but I made sure I confirmed d virginity....We both attended d most 'rugged' university in d southwest(u can guess). If she didn't get disvirgined then,I doubt she wld do it b4 marriage. That's part of why she's kinda desperate to get married ASAP. Lemme quote her- "ure sexually free but I'm not,I can't wait to do it in d proper setting".In other words, unlike her,I'm not a virgin.*U can sense her insecurity*.. Wld I get dumped? I've loosened up already...
Dude kpele, I feel U.

U'd have to respect her desire to keep her virginity. What I'm refereeing to is actually those weak moments that u and her probably had in the past were she looked into ur eyes, but wasn't sure about doing it or not. Then you you would have helped her make that important choice speedily, and she no for regret am as long as u didn't intend to dump her afterwards.

For now, consider her lost, but don't let her see it in ur eyes. Just carry on and don't act desperately. U'd be more unattractive to her if u do.

The way this thing usually works is that, she might try to dump u only wen she feels sure and confident about the other guy. It would be difficult for her to just dump you and then be alone. She's already very 'used to you'.
