Guys, on my brother's invoice, they put 28th April as the invoice due to date. Does this mean he has to pay the fees on or before the date?? It's bazaar cause some people are still waiting for scholarship. Secondly, does anyone have an idea what document is acceptable as POF for the required cash-at-hand? Thanks. |
femex12:This is misleading, bro. Even with the school giving you accommodation, it will still be above that (82,950.00). The details can be found on the site. Lionize:Actually, we were not talking about school fees. We were talking about the amount of cash you are expected to have in your account when applying for residence permit and it has nothing to do with the school or course of study other than the facts that it could reduce a bit if your school offers you accommodation. |
area74:Oh... sad! |
engrkosi:It's a year program. |
Elonmuskfan:Hhmm.... Just curious, is this difference really reason enough to decide one's nationality? In 2013, the B1 visa refusal rate in Cameroon was 37.3% and that of Nigeria was 35.1%. Though both have increased with Cameroon being almost 60% now and Nigeria chasing 70%, I think what Nigeria really has is higher number of applicants which makes this 10% difference to translate into a high number. This higher number of applicants stems from two facts: first, Nigeria is far more populated and second, Cameroonians apply for French visa more than they apply for the US visa (going by the available stats). I think the higher rejection rate in Nigeria is because of more people trying to game the system and getting caught while at it. The genuine ones who want to visit and go back home or those that want to study still get their Visa. The problem is when you want to use a visitor's Visa to migrate (which is mostly the case in Nigeria). Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the difference rejection rate is insignificant but I believe it's just not enough to decide one's nationality. This is especially now that countries are moving towards the less subjective point based immigration system where nationality doesn't count (Nigerians are performing great here). Again, Cameroon's lack of recognition for dual citizenship is also a flag to consider. You'd likely find yourself denouncing the passport later and there's no telling how rosy that would be. I could be wrong though. |
You noticed all these in how many days? Have you asked those who are visiting Abuja or Lagos for the first time what they think about Nigeria? My point is, you were in a vacation mode and the feeling of newness is easily confused with being better. You were born in Nigeria and you grew up in Nigeria, so I see why you'd feel the pasture is greener on the other side. Anglophone countries only hear about fellow anglophone countries (Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, etc). We don't read much about francophone countries (you probably do cause your parents are from there) so we don't really appreciate thier issues. I'm not saying Nigeria is better but you should know Cameroon has its own problems ranging from secessionism to corruption to not-so-good economy. The police as just as corrupt as they are in Nigeria. Which politics do you want to discuss when the same person has been ruling the country long before you were born? You think they have equal rights and some people want to create thier own country? Are you bilingual? Cameroon used to be a popular destination for Nigerians (mainly Igbos) cause it allowed them to tap into the francophone market which was non-existent in Nigeria. They also got along well with the business minded Douala people more than they did with the Hausas up North. While things have changed, it's still a relatively peaceful country or, at least, it seems to be. This means less stress and probably longer life span. On the other hand, Nigeria is a bigger country with a more viable and relatively more independent economy. This means more opportunities and more cash flow. With a corruption index of 27 and 25, I don't see any significant difference in that regards. Nigeria has the benefits and issues of bigger, more complex and more dynamic country while Cameroon has the benefits and issues of a smaller and more easy going country. I know I didn't give a definite answer but I hope I, at least, gave some insights. Whatever you do, know that your choice is not for you alone but for your unborn kids. Seeing that you are qualified for both passports, why not get them all? |

Odewaleadesoye:Or a red piller. Lol I think women become philosophers when they end up with a bad man while men become red pillars when they end up with a bad lady. |
virginboy1:You mustn't say anything actually. Nigeria isn't doing so great but that doesn't mean one should blindly criticize everything including steps in the right direction. Such criticisms only make mockery of the genuine ones. |
qtguru:Of course, sexism is the only thing that can unseat tribalism on Nairaland. |
chatinent:Lmao... |
Seniorwriter:No, I don't teach anymore. But I've got a colleague who's in Nigeria. I could share his contact with you if you'd send me a dm. Thanks. |
Hehe... The first to comment is a typical Nigerian. Always blaming or calling out "Nigerian this" or "Nigerian that". Nigerians somehow believe it puts them in a better light to call out a subclass they don't belong to. If they're not calling out Nigerian soldiers, it's Nigerian teachers, Nigerian builders, Nigerian parents, Nigerian women, Nigerian doctors, Nigerian celebs and now, Nigerian couples. I'm sure when the guy gets married, he will start calling out Nigerian singles. It's as though no one wants to take responsibility. Lol |
atonement12:What year was this, please? |
BedroomSecret:Yes, we need more of his type and less of your type cause it's obvious his type will never progress if your type is always there to discourage them. @OP, since you don't rely on the eagle's vision, why not use a more trainable and readily available bird like a falcon? |
Sammy07:It's logical. It's just not likely. What's illogical is the idea that he's operating the account from another realm. ![]() |
You guys won't have any solution until you stop pretending and face the reality. Married men leave their wives at home to chase after little girls. We know these men are the cheats here but we'd rather concentrate on the girls cause we're in Nigeria where men are never reprimanded. All of you have shamelessly gathered to call girls names while ignoring the men who are the ones breaking their marriage vows. Sexism makes seemingly intelligent people illogical. |
OP, what happened to the old thread? That thread has a lot of information! I've been looking for it. Meanwhile, my bro also got admitted! Did you guys see the POF requirement? SEK 8,568/month (a total of SEK 102,816) |
Eviana:@bolded; in Africa, that would be hard seeing how everyone expects explanations from others. But like you said, being at peace with her decision and seeing the face of her kid every morning would strengthen her. Besides, AI is not cheap; a lady who can afford that is likely to be able to afford leaving the country. Life is never straightforward. We all have our stories. We make our choices and live with the consequences. As for me, provided you aren't hurting others, I'm never judging you for your life decisions cause I don't know what I'd do in your position. |
Ok... next time, don't ask. |
FalseProphet1:Women are not objects to be used as rewards, compensation, etc. Develop your mindsets. |
AsherAmari:Lol... you want it to carry AK47?? |
It's not a sin. A lady clocking 40 without a man can do this if she does not want to adopt. While I advocate for adoption, I know a lot women derive joy from carrying their own child for 9 months. |
Lol... regardless of what you do as a lady, be ready to be abused or accused of all sorts of things. That's the nature of your society. It shouldn't stop you from helping. |
In as much as the mum was mentioned, we all know the attack was for the troll as his mum would probably never see the comment. He's the one that'll feel bad, not the mum. I don't know why people like body shaming others. You want them to hide themselves? If they settle for surgery, you'd still attack them. Nawa o. |
techmo:I like this. I just wish you'd also use this same energy to address the countless NL men who go on any thread that has to do with ladies to type "fear women", "Nigerian girls are useless", "that gender has issues", etc. |
AsherAmari:Lol.. you're right. But the mere fact that it appears bigger when in that position is enough to make the predators think twice. I learned animals try to appear bigger to ward off predators. |
I'm guessing you wanted to say "reveal". |
The first three people to comment are struggling to share a joke not originated by any of them. Lol OP, asides from the normal night sleep, people normally sleep when they aren't active for long, when the environmental is very conducive, when their normal sleeping time is cut short, when they are just stressed/tired, etc. So if someone is sleeping during church service, it could be because of any of these things. Maybe they woke up unusually early to attend the service or the sermon is taking too long or they had a hectic day/night or the A.C is just too good compared to their standing fans at home. I don't subscribe to the idea of demons playing around inside the church. |
Glozanne:Big but not as big as some malls in the Greater Toronto Area, Edmonton, etc. Those malls are larger than life. Thanks for sharing. |
