At my last interview, a lady was refused because she dint disclose to the CBP at her last trip that she was there for childbirth. The visa officer said the onus is on her to inform the CBP of her intent to have a baby during her trip “whether he asked or not”...she said he dint ask and the guy said “oh well” and denied her visa.

So please whether they ask or not, it’s best to disclose.

Tvegas:

If she wasn't specifically asked about her purpose she didn't need to open the discussion. The CBP officer may be less concerned as regards wether she is birthing or not. Secondly He might have seen enough pregnant women for that day to bother. This happened to few people here in the past. If thesame scenario played out at the embassy she is encouraged to declare even if not asked. So Let's not create panic where there is non.

Sometimes our oversabi is part of what leads to frequent changes in the US embassy policy. E.g the so-called change of intent letter that was overused. Even those who dont need it will send one and That's why they hardly reply again. cheesy

Glory be to God!!! My Father and my Redeemer...

This journey started Jan 2017 when I wrote IELTS and got (9,8.5,7.5,7) in LSRW in one sitting and I was like wow by June 2017 I’ll be in Canada (LOL).

But ECA did me strong thing, getting my LL.B transcript took about 4months as some years of my result was missing. It was not even funny at all. Lucky for me, I live in the town where I schooled so every week I’ll go to follow up. Sometimes even twice in the week... Eventually we had to go to my faculty to manually retrieve result from handwritten mark sheets submitted by the lecturers as at 2003/2004... imagine the pile of dust and all... But after 4 months we got finally sorted out the compilation of Transcript and sent to WES. All the while my foreign MBA had been evaluated (I did not know I could just do highest qualification only).

My ECA came in July 2017. I quickly dived into the pool... got ITA and submitted August 13th. August 30th I got ADR for Travel History Form, I submitted and the next day my application was cancelled for not including UK PCC.

I went back into the pool on the 1st of Sept and applied for UK PCC. I got ITA first week in September and submitted 18th September 2017. See my timeline below:

AOR- 18th September 2017
NA2- 2nd October 2017
FTD- 7th November 2017
IP2/ADR-16th February 2018 (Height &Eye colour and Bio Data pages)
PPR mail - 26th February 2018

Passport sent to Accra - 26th February 2018
Received in Accra - 28th February 2018
PUM- 12th March 2018
Approved - 13th March 2018
COPR- 15th March 2018
Left Nigeria - 20th March 2018
Arrived Alberta- 21st March 2018

Some highlights of my Application (major thanks to the wealth of information shared on this platform):
*the 2nd attempt was more straight forward as I moved spouse’s Experiences to personal history
*i uploaded documents for only jobs I was claiming points for, moved the others to personal experience (In previous application I uploaded letters for all previous jobs cumulatively over 9years and my present one which is self owned Firm)
* my LOE was one page and more straight forward (the first had over 4pages)
* I notarized the letter from spouse saying money in his account was for our immigration purpose and that I had access to it. Basically the entire POF was spouse’s.
*i added ielts, ECA to education certificate (I dint do this for the first).

I give all the glory to God, what started like a dream has become a reality... I don’t even know how to express my gratitude... my application has its lows and delays but through it all, my Visa officer was like an angel. He replied all status enquires politely and continually gave me hope through it all...

Also, please if you are on LinkedIn, ensure your profile is updated and accurate just as you filled in your e-APR. when i was told that my background check was ongoing, I noticed my profile was checked by “ControlRisks” a UK based firm that also handles immigration security, travel security, etc. I doubt this was a coincidence.

Finally, don’t be afraid to reach out to your Visa Office with any enquires, requests or plea as the case may be. I needed my Passport stamping expedited and I wrote to London after getting PPR, and honestly it’s the best decision ever made... My Visa Officer took it upon himself to ensure Accra stamped the passports in a timely fashion...He would even mail me from time to time to ask if it had been stamped and eventually mailed to tell me it was stamped and would be delivered same week... hence why I got PUM before approval (Please don’t abuse this privilege except you have genuine reasons for it, so we don’t ruin the chances of others with real emergencies)

The kind of favour I experienced through it all, it was definitely God at work.

I made some amazing friends too especially @bigfido and @mrsda. Thanks also to @feygbe and all those in the August and September WhatsApp group, the LVO group as well as the Post-PPR groups... the journey would have been incomplete without you all.

May God bless you all and may all our dreams and aspirations become valid!!!

One love!!!

Pls what is the down side of AA? Kindly advice
Fyorgyn:

I must warn you though...

When booking BA please make sure all your flights are BA. BA has an agreement with American Airlines (AA)and sometimes the flights to or from the US will be via AA.

My DH and I have had the misfortune of flying with AA from Philadelphia to London ( we purchased BA tickets) and it was a terrible experience. So when booking your flights please ensure that it is BA all the way. I have learnt my lesson and I always check now!

Update:

Hello House, I picked up my passport from DHL today and it was stamped B1/B2. To God be the glory.

I did drop box in January but was called in for interview. At the interview was asked to procure letter from hospital and send via DHL which I did.

Thereafter my application was placed under Administrative Processing and I learnt it could take up to 60days... I almost lost hope and decided to request my passport back...

To the glory of God, it came back with Visa stamped...

Praise the Lord

Hello @Abujaniv and @lagosniv

If an application is placed under administrative processing, can an applicant request his passport back from the embassy and typically how long will that take...

Especially if the applicant applied for b2 visa and needs to travel to another country while administrative processing is on going.

Your kind response will be appreciated.

Just to put your mind at rest, it’s ok to change accommodation plans... I was in your shoes too but my POE was NY. I booked an apartment but once my sibling knew I was coming he insisted I stayed with him and his spouse n kid... so he gave me the following:
1. a letter of introduction saying I’ll be staying at his place
2. A recent utility bill as proof of his accommodation
3. His passport biodata Page (he’s a citizen)
4. A scan of his work ID card

All the best

thanks for your concern. like i said, I already got the the clarification I seek. I will be fine, trust me. BTW, can we drop this subject already?

My advice will be to re-apply and emphasize that you paid what the hospital quoted as self-pay cost and only became aware of the $35k when you requested for Zero Balance and recieved your itemized Bill... ensure your new budget for hospital is well over what you spent the last time and preferably use a different hospital from the first, use an hospital with a more straight forward billing system... present your receipts totaling $15000 first and only give the itemized billingbif asked for it. You can also do a cover page showing the total sum you spent at your last trip. That’s what I did.

All the Best.

Bubbles123:
I had my baby in New York in 2016 on tourist visa but I informed them at the Port of entry that I was going to have my bat and they allowed me in. Before I traveled I inquired about cost and I was told that hospital bill among other bills for self pay is $6,000 dollars. Altogether I paid almost $15,000 for the delivery ( hospital, doctor's bill, lab, anesthesia and paediatric care). But I was surprised when the hospital gave me my itemized receipt, it showed a bill of $35,000. And since I paid $6,000. The balance of $25,000 was written off as self pay adjusted discount. When I asked they said that's how the template is in their system. Anyway, I gathered all my other receipts from Doctor, lab etc. Fast forward to.

There is no need to panic... simply write a letter stating why you were refused and attach evidence of refusal if you have it... that generic paper they give upon refusal.

All the best

When I click on "my application" tab or eventually access the GCkey login fields on CiC site on my browser, it keeps telling me that login session has expired. I fully logged out yesterday before my system shut down. When I even get the type in my username and password, it tells me the same login expired ish. Who know what is happening please? I hope all info I entered yesterday is not lost? Thanks.

Hello, yes you will have to fill both you and your spouse’s details in the Travel History Form... if the form is not enough, you will have to create an extra sheet in the same manner as the form and include all the needed details... I wish you all the best.

To all who just got ITA and are yet to submit, Generally if you have lengthy travel history pls fill this Travel History form and attach to your LOE section while submitting your fresh application to avoid getting ADR for it...

Thanks

This Zero balance issue pls I need clarification...

1. I have the hospital quote and we signed a self pay agreement... I have receipts of all the payment.

2. I have an email from the hospital staff stating that my account is in Zero balance...

3. Then I have the lengthy itemized/Comprehensive Bills from the Hospital Billing section with an amount way over the discounted price and the balance is 0.00... (do I need to take this for my follow up interview) Is this the real Zero Balance document. Or will 1 and 2 above suffice?

Why not confirm from the hospital which is acceptable by them... for my first baby, I gave all necessary information via email but travelled with the comprehensive history and gave them the hard copy when I got there. It was uploaded on their system and my copy given back to me..

For follow up interview,

Pls I have some questions:

1. Apart from international passport and appointment confirmation and ofcos supporting documents is there any other thing to take along?

I’m kinda guessing Passport photograph.
The payment receipt and DS- 160 confirmation were all sent along with Dropbox but was not returned and I don’t have extra copies...

2. Also for hospital correspondence, is it sufficient to take my email to the hospital and their response along with the cost breakdown. OR do I need to also book an hospital appointment ahead too...

3. I’m going to same City I had my first baby but this time around I want to use a different hospital as the previous one no longer has an all encompassing bill... I’ll have to get doctor, anesthesia, pediatrician separately unlike before when the hospital handled all and you just pay a bulk sum. The new hospital has an all encompassing bill that’s why I want to use them. Is this a red flag

I’m counting on your kind responses.

Hello everyone.

Please has anyone tried to schedule a 221g follow up appointment very recently? I have tried in the last three days without any success.

The appointment calender just comes out blank without any dates or time. I have emailed the US embassy in Abuja, the support centre and also contacted the call centre. Still no progress.

Please are there any other suggestions on what I can possibly do? Many thanks.

Hello House Pls Few questions:

1. For those who attended follow up interview, did you take letter from your Nigerian hospital stating that you are pregnant?

2. If I pick a date for my follow up interview can I change the date if something comes up around the said period and my passport won’t be available.

3. The accommodation I booked when I applied was cancelled by the apartment owner after I submitted as he said he could not hold bookings for long... can I change my intended address at the. Follow up interview?

4. Apart from previous bill and receipts, tabulated amount spent during last trip, tabulated amount to be spent on next trip, hospital/drs correspondence and bank statements, is there any other document I should take for the interview?

5. Lastly, can one book expedited appointment when invited for follow up interview?

Thank you all...

Lemme add that I have followed this thread from part 1and I contributed immensely in Part2 when I had my first baby... now ready for journey 2 and my Dropbox wasn’t approved hence all my plenty questions.

Pls help a sister pls.

For quality and durable items pls buy when you travel... I sell kids clothing and most of us also buy from overseas and resell with some profit... except you want to buy “cartas baby” instead of “carters baby” etc... cos all dem fake products spoil after one or two washes... so pls buy your baby clothes and essentials when you travel. Bless you.

Hello House, so happy to be back here and wow Part 5 already... the ministry is truly moving forward...

On this issue of sharing info and researching... in 2014 when I was to have my baby I did get a lot of info here but then I went ahead to do my own research and found a reasonably priced hospital in New York... I shared the info on this platform and also responded to lots of PMs...

Fast forward to barely 2 years later, the number of Nigerians that flooded that hospital became so much that they had to review their package to almost double the price... now even I that shared the info can no longer make use of the hospital if need arises.... so truly I believe that agents use this information shared here a lot...

Anyways, as with every forum and community, there will always be rules, so yes I agree with Justwise on the disadvantage of sharing freely when others actually paid to have their services advertised...

I am glad I was able to share in previous parts all my experiences (hospital, PoE Transcript, getting baby’s details, flights etc)... On flights I remember I almost bought my infants ticket for hundreds of dollars from Delta at JFK but someone advised on the thread that it was cheaper in Naija and we did get it for about 30k or so. My affirmation also helped others back then...

Anyways, it’s good to be back here... seems there a lot to catch up on... I wonder why VOs are really refusing a lot of people these days sha... and ehn ehn our people have abused the letter of intent to the point that it holds no water anymore... kaiii God help us o...

Lemme Go and read up... and truly it does pay to do some research yourself instead of waiting to be spoon fed... it gives an edge of confidence.

One love guys
