Does anyone use any particular dialect well again? It's all muddled up. |
How can you get imprisoned for marrying the same sex when same-sex marriage is illegal? Am I the only one seeing this? |
If you southerners can't understand the arabic parts. how do you expect the northerners to understand the english part. stop embarassing yourselves with your ignorance abeg. Nigeria is not made up of south only.
It was a simple question which you did not answer. Why is there Hausa in Islamic calligraphy on the naira? |
outrage: Its the amount written in arabic caligraphy but in hausa pronounciation..Why? |
So after all the lying, I'm going to say how much is reasonable to 'steal' (other governments have ways of acquiring lots of money without 'stealing' so the word is subjective). $200 million is enough, that should be the maximum, among every politician there shouldn't be more than $3 billion stollen. After this every major project should left alone and be allowed to survive. Nobody said the government should share national cake, but when you're amassing $4 billion dollars, and everyone else just destroys projects then it's something else. so h. |
Promoe: Me no ome nkari nkari. Iwialawe! Nwere ge kwanu ya nu rumu we (no owuru nu ge lulam nwere)Uhm, why is Ikwere like Ika? |
You have to actually know how your people lived first before you start making evaluations. I can see from your comments that you haven't taken the time to research anything. |
Agbor: ọsịsọ, ejijei |
ChinenyeN: The dictionary isn't all that comprehensive when it comes to denoting origin, but at least it tries. I know a lot of "Igbo" dictionaries that used a slur of terminology from different regions, without denoting origin, and it's just one of my annoyances.Plus it actually makes sense showing what the tone is. I don't understand how other "dictionary" creators fail to grasp that 90% of an Igbo word is based on the tone. Another good source for Igbo words (animals): http://www.igbo911.com/lexi/xanimal.php |
Weirdos crawling out again. Please, more pictures. |
Editing yawns into your replies doesn't make up for a massive lack of knowledge of the current issue, which should be the cue to "move on". It doesn't make sense to talk about something you really don't understand (or in which shows that). |
I think the Owere dialect represents most of the south, Afikpo northwest, Onicha north, and obviously West Igbo, from what I've seen. |
Noise doesn't stand in for knowledge, neither is it wit. I can successfully write essays because the knowledge is there. That's the difference. |
This has nothing to do with anything now. My last post is to the original poster and any other poster who may fall for all this noise. Someone really can't be hurt when there isn't even any sense being made, or even a grasp of current issues. |
Try using no capitals. |
Do you have a link? |
Actually understanding what moves the earth around and how politics works is not a waste of time which is demonstrated by this whole thread. Again, individual countries are failures and achievers in their own right and not as a race. Yes, the citizens of African countries may be judged by their skin color and what they are associated with, but as African countries continue to grow (because people who know African current affairs knows that there are African countries growing and doing much better than before) these countries will start to gain their own identity. Pollution and poverty in China does not affect the national image of Japan and South Korea, even though most east Asian's are Chinese. The fact that anyone doesn't know this doesn't mean that they have authority to say what is failing or not. |
There's no such thing as a colored race and all achievements and failures of individual countries are that of individual countries. |
INNO18: Is that a skyscraper? I mean the building in the 2nd pic.I think it's a billboard (if you're looking at the same thing). |
You have a great vision...but it will never happen thou. I would bet on the prosperity of China than Africa or colored folks.
But then that means you don't know much about current affairs because much of China is suffering even though they're making 'economic progress'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rj9Wx_jg40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4DtOhe2LfQ |
Being proud of an identity does not waver during troubled times. I believe from your statements that you know little to nothing about Nigerian/African history/current affairs or even English history and culture which is where I believe the problems lays. Nigeria doesn't need you, and you don't need Nigeria and you have absolutely no English heritage. Nigeria's condition does not equate to the condition of the whole of Africa. Nigeria's condition also does not represent the conditions of the whole of Africa. Nigeria's present condition also does not equate to the potential of all parties involved. By the way, can you say where in Nigeria you went? Because I know that most of Nigeria does not smell, and I also know that most of Nigeria isn't polluted so I'm guessing you were only in Lagos. The fact is Nigeria doesn't need you, but that doesn't mean you cannot be useful to Nigeria. You don't need Nigeria, but that doesn't mean you will live completely comfortable without it. As for "English heritage" An Englishman will never accept you as an English person, no matter how liberal they may be or no matter how convincing they may be. The easy way out will only make you look oppurtunistic in British peoples eyes and you will be promptly reminded of your origins (and therefore your status in society) when they hit you with the classic "where are you originally from". Trust me, an Anglo-Saxon has security in England which you or any other non-Anglo Saxon will never attain (and never have). As for "sh*thole" If you know British history you will also know that England was once (and in some parts still is) a "sh*thole". A thousand years ago people were dying like flies in your country because they didn't know what soap was. 500 years ago they were burning witches, and 200 years ago London smelt very literally like a "sh*thole", so much so people wore stilt like shoes so their clothing wouldn't be ruined by raw sewage on the streets. This is your England, and none of these things happened in Nigeria, or specifically, Igboland. Ever. You can listen to everyone talking about black people being failures and Europe being the shinning light out of the nyassh of the human race, or you could actually start asking proper questions like why is Nigeria a "sh*thole" in the first place. Every group of people goes through cycles of chaos/depression and victory/triumph and your job is not to flip flop. As for Africa If you're looking for positive stories there's enough to fill a vast land called Africa. There's no such thing as a perfect story, anywhere. Someone here was talking about hope for China when most of China is still suffering from poverty and pollution? You see how much of a role ignorance plays here? The next thing someone will say is India is better than most of Africa. Go and look for what is happening in these countries: Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Tunisia, Morocco, Namibia, Cape Verde, Seychelles. Those are countries that are on the rise and have done well with mostly indigenous population. Then try and actually research the history of Nigeria/Igbo people. There are so many books, free documents, free videos, free text online that would have prevented this thread. You also have to become more critical about things you hear, things you read, things you see, and things you already believe. This is so important. Nobody can tell me anything about Igbo/Nigeria culture/history that I can't explain or turn around on themselves and that is where pride lays. So you have two options: go through life pretending like English people see you as English and fear being asked where you're from, or accept who you are and understand the reasons why your people are in their current state. |
belltwelve: @ EzeaguIro covers hostility, enmity, and evil-doing in Igbo, or at least how I've heard it. I didn't realise you were talking about a computer game. Jewelry = ọla/ọna converter = ngbanwe gentleman = dimkpa/dim/di lady has a lot of variations depending on where you're from it could be anything from da to ibili |
The one that works the best is English-Igbo. Maybe the words you searched are not there. |
Revolva: Has anyone tought of the igalas speaking communities in oshimili north LGA in deltaYou do know there are Igala in Anambra? That the mixed with the people long ago and that there are Igala villages near northern Anambra state? |
Stone aged, but you're still stressed! Yes! |
No because I don't really follow what you do, but I do regularly see you going on a march of frustration all over threads talking about how Lagos would be Singapore if it weren't for the FGN and GEJ. If you deny that, then you have to watch yourself from now on. |
Can you write the correct spelling? |
Eko Ile: Mediocrity is crying and begging everyday for what you can do on your own instead of the dirty crap they commissioned on your behalf..Like you do about Federal projects, especially roads and ironically MMA in Lagos, now move on. |
Oh sorry, I think I remember you telling us it was actually "Ovi Igbo". People can easily forget things It's not only Ika they call them, it's Omo Bini. |
And doesn't use English loan words for words that already exist. |
Bini people call people from Agbor Owi Igbo, yes or no? |
