Whatever, whether they better fashioned it or laced it with gold, it is borrowed fashion, therefore they look like Isamized Africans, specifically from Mali and Mauritania, the origin of "Agbada". |
Culture › Re: Pictures Of OBI Of Onitsha Doing Ofala Ceremony by ezeagu(m): 2:19am On Nov 09, 2011 |
"Agabada" is borrowed clothing from the Islamized Songhai/Ghana Empire who were influenced by Arab clothing. Fact. Its origin lies with the clothing worn by the Islamized Tukulor, Mandé and Songhai peoples of the historic 8th Century Takrur and Ghana Empires, and 13th Century Mali and Songhai Empires, (See Bisht and Kaftan for information on these). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boubou_(clothing)I guess the Yoruba are wearing other peoples clothing. Lesson learnt: don't show your as s by diving head first into insults. |

Yes, I think they (Europeans) actually referred to Aboh as 'Eboe Town', and it was the only Igbo place then that had direct access to them. Olaudah Equiano was from Ukwuani and was an 'Igbo nationalist' jusged from the way he spoke about alaigbo in his narrative (he talks about Eboe for about 2/5 of the book). |

I know they would disagree but the truth will not be deterred. call a rose by a thousand names, it would still smell like a rose. Yoruba people themselves aren't descendants of Arabic Odudwa, let alone Umu eze Chima. |

ogiye: never used that to groupe my language. we spaeks like the Igbos but ours has is called Ukwuani, my cliam is we should be called by the name of our language. You don't speak "like the Igbos", Delta state recognises you as an Igbo group and your language is officially Igbo. Ukwuani has many dialects whose speakers probably want to their language called by its name and not Ukwuani, and people probably do, this doesn't change the fact that these dialects are grouped together as a group called 'Ukwuani'. By the way, what is the theory of origin of Ukwuani communities? |
Culture › Re: Are Ukwuani People Igbos(ukwuani People Please Talk) by ezeagu(m): 3:19am On Nov 06, 2011 |
ogiye: Agreed, but subgrouping a language with another does not mean that the people are the same. In future pigeon english will be subgrouped with english language. Krio, or 'Pidgin English', is an English-based creole, as in it's a creole, not a fully separate language, which means it's not a relevant analogy. . . . . . Plus I was addressing your claim that Ukwuani was Igboid. |

NRI PRIEST: I trully believe NGWAS arent Igbos and so will I regard any group that so much as ask a little question about their Igboness!!! So Onicha people aren't Igbo in your eyes then? In fact Anambra people aren't Igbo going by the way a certain Oka native insults other Igbo states. NRI PRIEST: IGBO BOY, I get what you are saying. . . I am aware that Onitsha people and lots of ANIOMA groups were once part part of BENIN KINGDOM and they had some influence on the ANIOMA Igbos but I am yet to see what part of ONITSHA cultures nor traditions were actually BENIN's own. . . 80% of ANIOMA IGBOs do not have blood relation with the BENINS, contrary to what a lot INSECURE fool from there think!! Tell me what is so BENIN about the gorgeous culture of NRI IGBO above that depicts BENIN influence ? Do you know that Onitsha and Benin has a title calls IYASERE(benin),IYASELLE(onitsha) and somebody said that it is because they are BENINS thats why they bear such name!!!! But do you also know that the same IYASELLE was also a title name in UMUOJI(idemmili) where I came from. . . I guess we stole the BENIN TITLE FROM ONITSHA AND THEIR BENIN FATHERS!!!! Wonders shall never end!!! This people make me SICK!!! The Onicha clan is part of 'Anioma', the towns with Onicha in their name on the West bank of the river Niger are kin with the Onicha in Anambra, that's the problem with seeing traditional lands through the eyes of 20 year old states. The Benin Empire had citizens who weren't necessarily Bini, but were from Benin. The Onicha people told the Europeans that they are of Bini stock because they migrated from there. |

Eko Ile: Another bungled up analogy. What's Norway got to do with Lagos, Nigeria?
Have you given the Lagos state government 16 billion dollars to build power plants?
Have you removed the federal monopoly sabotaging our efforts?
What happened to Lagos state's first IPP in Nigeria (270MW)? I believe the incompetent losers stole and buried it into the worthless National grid.
You keep coming up with analogies that's not even jiving with realities on the ground.
What is going on in Lagos state is a classic case of crawling and walking. They built one power plant, they built another, now they are drawing up plans to build 5 more. So what exactly is your tru definition of crawling and walking?
At the rate they are going, the promise land and the light at the end of the tunnel is within reach,
How we wish our useless, worthless and incompetent federal government with the real statutory obligation and monopoly to provide electricity have the same commitment, sense of leadership and competency to do the same thing.
16 billion dollars and counting, we are still in darkness. Remove your monopoly and see what we can do with ours.
It's just too hard to take people like you seriously And how did any of this give credit to the superiority of the Lagos government over other states? Or is it in Lagos only that failed projects were cause by the federal government? Eko Ile: This has nothing to do with me, this is about you not knowing what you are talking about and bungling analogies all over the place. Try make some damn sense sometimes. So those this mean that you will give your full focus to Lagos issues and related instead of constantly comparing them with other states?
Anyway, face your own business, while we face ours
Exactly what Eko Ile wasn't doing. |
