PoliticsRe: What Does The South West Offer Nigeria by ezeagu(m): 4:13pm On Oct 21, 2015
aresa:
1. The SW survived comfortably before oil was discovered.

2. The SW under the old western region built many historic "First In Nigeria" structures without oil money.

3. The SW built all the industrial estates in Lagos from Ikeja industrial estate to Matori, Apapa, Mushin and Ilupeju industrial and these industries are still responsible for countless jobs and a major chunk of Nigeria's industrial output, goods and services.

All before Nigeria became a country and infact, oil and affiliation with the rest of the country slowed down the SW because the SW achieved all the above in less than 10 years so imagine the SW today without the association and oil bargage.
That's nice, but the fact remains, Nigeria is only relevant because of the crude oil in the delta. Lagos itself has benefited from that. And to be honest, much of the historic firsts were under the British administration, not in independence when oil was already discovered.
PoliticsRe: What Does The South West Offer Nigeria by ezeagu(m): 3:50pm On Oct 21, 2015
Nothing keeps Nigeria afloat but crude oil. Everything else is chicken shit. So nobody really contributes anything but the natural earth.

Nobody is putting biblical spin on anything.. you choose to see it only from your one way direction.. ask yourself was there a place called " Bight Of Biafra" before 1960 ? now called Bight Of Bonny after the civil war .. where ever the name hails from is not as important as it is name we are known for.. it has been existing before the civil war..
Your ego is just driving you wild bro.. calm down..take a chill pill and watch as the country BIAFRA unfolds its self..
Please answer this question nobody has answered: Were your great ancestors before 1900 calling themselves Biafrans or something of the like? What was the capital of Biafra in say the year 1700? who was the first king/president/prime minister of Biafra?

So to you my brother, inciting people of a country against the country is not a crime? Why did you think Wole Soyinka was imprisoned in 1968? Did he kill? It was just because he was defending Biafra course despite being a Yoruba man.

Don't raise a bluff against bullet, Igbos should be wiser now.

As touching the issue of MASSOB, it is those who have eaten that want to reduce their numerical number a bit. After a month or two, they must have wasted about 100 persons, then they will have a default reset of their brain.

Fighting a lost battle. Where is MEND today?
MEND is being fattened with bribes amnesty wealth. Where is the evidence that first of all he incited people against the country and that what you said is what he is being indicted for?

it's most likely origin is Portuguese, from Biafara, Biafar or Biafare
And what does that mean in Portuguese? Or where in Portugal is that village?

It seems you too much of the Igbo/ Biafra history / tradition right? .so tell me what is your anger about the origin of Biafra or the Igbo as a race/tribe? I see you either don't know it or you choose to antagonise anybody that provides Information..saying it might be a corruption of a town in Cameroon confirms you have a deep hatred for the Igbos.
let me burst your bubble bro.. my last comment above is confirmed and authentic.. maybe you read another history journals fabricated from the pit of falsehood ..
Show me the Portuguese village. I'm simply trying to tell you people that the word Biafra is a corruption of town names in Cameroon which the Europeans used to name the coast. There is not Portuguese village known as Biafra. Now people are trying to put a biblical spin on it.

This is purely an admittance of ignorance.
Meeting bail condition is one thing, proving your case in court is another thing.
The whole cyber space has been inundated with numerous information real and fake about Nnamdi Kanu. How government played into his hand (fat lie), how he will become more popular (victims' mentality), etc.
The truth of the matter is, the end has come on IPOD's project, just as MASSOB is dead and Nwasurike is a dead lion, Nnamdi Kanu will forever be under security surveillance both within and outside the Shore of Nigeria.
He has been demystified. Radio Biafra's existence is threatened as he would be told to end the airing and nothing for him any more.
Ignoramuses talking does not know what treasonable felony means.
And what is the criminal offence? All you wrote is your own opinion, the fact is they are already using this time to their advantage, MASSOB has never had this kind of impact and this is something they've already been planning for and said several times.

This is similar to the time Nigeria try to shut them down and they became even more popular. No sense whatsoever.

Firstly, I am not a supporter of all this whole protests, Rule of law and due process is the best method in resolving any issue!
- I want to give a Stern Warning To All South Westeners and Northeners on Nairaland who are using the "Asaba Massacre" as a Joke on Biafra thread to STOP IT and the mods should always do something about it.
- As a Proud Anioma guy, It is very insultive and annoying to laugh about people who were massacred in cold blood! SHOW SOME RESPECT.
If you want to comment on any anti Biafra thread, do that but never you joke with the "Asaba Massacre" again.
The FG should declare Federalism, so that all states can have a control of its own resources!

It makes sense not to pay the bail. And for him to be detained for this time he can use that to his advantage.
PoliticsRe: The Name Biafra, Its Origin And Meaning: by ezeagu(m): 1:45pm On Oct 21, 2015

Biafra isn't an Igbo word nor
coin from Igbo language, it's of Portuguese origin
dating back to the 15th century, in fact, in present day
Portugal, there's a town named Biafra. The word
Biafra was taken from the Bight of Biafra, renamed
Bight of Bonny by Federal Government after the
Biafran Nigerian War to obliterate Biafra from
Nigerians' conscienceness.
Biafra is not a Portuguese words, it's probably a corruption of a town name in Cameroon. There is no Portuguese village named Biafra.

Some of you are simply demented, even when slapped with common sense, you still vow to voluntary remain intellectual paraplegics. Forget about the existence or non-existence of 'Jew origin'. Was there a Biafra (as recorded by european explorers) before the word Niggeria came into existence? Yes or No!
Yes! and you call it 'nonsense name'? If You prefer "Nigger area" name given to you by a slut named flora shaw? You are sick in the head ....Sir!
Guy, Europeans named your area of Africa 'Biafra' to make it easier to find the kind of slaves they were looking for, just like they named a certain part the Windward Coast, another the Ivory Coast, and another the Gold Coast, so you should look for the European who gave you the name you're trying to link to some far fetched biblical origin. Missionaries really messed with Africans heads. Nobody in your family before 1960 was calling themselves Biafran, right or wrong? If there was truly an "Ancient Biafra", then why isn't there any record of Igbo or other so called "Biafrans" calling themselves Biafara citizens or the like before 1900? Do please tell me where the capital of Biafra was and who its leaders/kings and government was before 1900. Also, why do the "Biafrans" speak completely different classes of languages like Yoruboid, Edoid, Igboid and Cross River classed languages and have completely separate cultures like that of the Ibibio and Itsekiri for example?
PoliticsRe: The Name Biafra, Its Origin And Meaning: by ezeagu(m): 1:26pm On Oct 21, 2015
theDEVILisHERE:
This not about igbo history
This is about Biafra
Biafra ie: Igbo, Ibibio (ibibio/efik), Izon (aka ijaw), Isoko, Isobo (aka urobo), itshekiri, igala, igede and Igbanke (take note of the "I" initials in all of them)

Can't really tell you where exactly you can verify that information now
But like I said
Do some research if you want to really find the truth
Don't just wave this information aside

You have to also note that there are lots of info on Biafra the British has hidden away from the public
So what if they start with I? Ijebu starts with I are they Biafra? There are no documents hidden away by Britain. You do know the Itsekiri language has been classed as Yoruba? Have you ever heard the Igala language?

Your last sentence/question

Research on the document the British signed with the cheifs of that part of the world when they first came to do some business there
Are you trying to tell me your great great great great great grand mother ever said these words in their life 'A bum onye Biafra' or the likes?

theDEVILisHERE:
When the British first came to the Mohamedian Emirates of the North at present day Zamfara
They asked one of the chiefs who those people were who lived across the river at the area where biafra is
He (the chief) said
In his words " they are the lost tribe of isreal"

Documents are available to prove this
Provide them. Even if this is true, this is wha you're basing the identity on?

What a useless pile of garbage. This is why I don't like this sourceless, baseless name Biafra. Nobody know the meaning of the nonsense name and you must know nothing or a big liar if you think anyone was calling themselves "Biafara" before 1967. I won't even address the Judeo-Christian nonsense because that can not be cured with an internet post.

Radoillo:
Well, it's a better option than what we currently have.
However, just how prevalent is the use of Onicha Igbo in the southern Igbo area? I don't get the impression that many southern-raised Igbos can speak it even if their lives depended on it.
agadez007:
yah,true that
the Onitsha/anambra dilect is more popular than Izugbe as evident in Nollywood films and In Lagos here

Some Imo people i know say ''kita'' rather than ''ugbua/ugbulaka''
even in names we give, its not uncommon to see an Imolite or abian bearing ''ifeanyi, ifeoma'' etc

but i dont think it will be easy changing igbo izugbe, let it remain that way, biko

tenks
Yes I've noticed that people even 'southern Igbo' generally find Anambra dialects more sexy and worldly. Like the examples of the names and nollywood. There are people who have never been to Anambra who would speak that dialect with a different Igbo maybe because that's what they expect them to understand, which is why I wonder if the whole exercise of Igbo Izugbe is pointless and whether Onitsha Igbo for example should be the official dialect.
CultureShould Onitsha Igbo Be Igbo Izugbe? by ezeagu(op): 1:29pm On Oct 20, 2015
I noticed whenever an Igbo/outsider person wants to address a wider Igbo audience of different dialects they almost always use Onicha Igbo or some other Igbo from around that region despite the fact that there is already an Igbo Izugbe standard Igbo. Look at some Igbo memes for example. Since this is the Igbo most people learn, should it be made the standard?
