I think Amaechi should come back if he can since he did such a good job last time. |
nwanlecha:I believe that anything other than an Igbo country would probably be a failure. I also believe all these Biafra movements are confusing. |
Legitbaba:But I have never seen a Biafra protest in any non-Igbo land. The name I believe should go too. |
Brooklynsouth:I don't think you have the capacity to under the arguments being raised here. I wonder what you guys will do when you march to the wrong lands and they actually physically attack you. Noneroone:I don't know about that since Radio Biafra is even claiming Itsekiri and Igala people are part of Biafra. fastjet:Biafra is a corrupted name Europeans used to find particular kinds of slaves they were looking for, just because it existed before Nigeria doesn't mean it's not of foreign origin. Do your research outside of Radio Biafra. |
carnegiefan:Even if this farfetched situation could happen, it should be the decision of those groups to stay in Nigeria. I even believe that it's messy to want a group of people who rejected you to join you when they have never shown any sense of a unified destiny with you. You'd just make the new country a mini Nigeria. I don't know why some people can't leave Ndi Mba Miri alone but are talking for them. It's very irritating, especially with some of the insults like in the comments posted.

An apparent minority is pushing for secession of eastern Nigeria as Biafra, while the majority of the Igbo remain silent, and let's be honest, the silence is as a result of a people who would ideally like to be on their own but understandably do not want to invest in many different ways in something that may end up bad in also a variety of ways including a repeat of the 60s. The problem however is that not only is the movement very chaotic at the moment, but there is confusion as to where Biafra is. Many are saying that the whole of eastern Nigeria is Biafra, but I think this is really a mistake the Biafra secessionists are making. I believe that the area known as 'south south' are not as enthusiatic about a Biafra as the secessionists would like to believe. In fact all the major protests have taken place only in Igbo land, and particularly in the five Igbo states. And I'm sure some would say they know someone in Ogoja or someone from Calabar who joined them in protest somewhere, but to be honest these minute amount of people doesn't change the point that overwhelmingly the sentiment about seceding or a 'Biafra' has been and has been perceived as an Igbo thing. Check the names on any 'Biafra' message for example. I have encouraged an idea of an 'eastern' unity within Nigeria here before, but following from the sentiment that eveyone should respect themselves and the autonomy of others, it my deep belief, considering history even before the Nigeria-Biafra war, that the Igbo people, if there were ever a secession, should form a nation on their own, or at least a federation as a country like England in the United Kingdom. I believe the nature and goal of an Igbo person will continue to be misunderstood by anyone and I do not want a situation where an Igbo person will feel they are held back because they don't want to be seen as overdoing anybody. All of these thoughts were solidifed by the recent writings of Alabo Abiye Akkio-Abbey here https://www.facebook.com/alaboabiye.akkioabbey/posts/10153267949980028 and the replies by people from his community, some I have attached.

Northerners are not united. If you doubt me then look at the Kanuri and Fulani. The Kanuri were the first muslims in Nigeria and they have illusions of superiority because of that. Also Boko Haram is a Kanuri enterprise. |
JudgementHammer:Is God going to get that directly? Give it to someone in need. God doesn't need money. |
spyder880:Rammed Earth and Recyclable Materials I've already suggested rammed earth which more advanced countries are slowly moving to. Also wood and recycled materials like plastics would not only be cheap but would visually break up the depressing cement look of buildings in Nigeria. For example when you look at a house in Nigeria it's just a box of cements, while This is the science center of a girls school in Australia made from rammed earth and other recyclable materials. https://www.earthstructures.co.uk/images/gallery/73/7310.jpg http://www.earthstructures.co.uk/ These are other buildings/renderings that were built with rammed earth and recyclable materials. It's funny because the idea of using mud and recyclable materials like ceramics is indigenous to Nigeria, but as I've said Nigerians/Africans do not think that anything of their is good enough, but that's simply ignorance and they'd rather build shabby imitations of various conflated European architectures from neo-Classical to Mediterranean. https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/exteriorREBD.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/exterior2REBD.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/tresbirdsarchitectureswoon4.jpg "The structure was built using 200 tons of rammed Earth, a composite of regional dirt and pigments, compressed into 30” thick walls. This adds significant thermal mass to the building’s whole, optimal for temperature regulation. Bearing the structural load, these dense walls allow the space to exist free from obstructions, ideal for a simplified interior and exhibiting artwork." http://eartharchitecture.org/index.php?/categories/3-Rammed-Earth https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/glendale_childcare_center_01__large.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/drachman6_1.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/lacey1.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/lacey9.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/lacey2.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/lacey4.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/hinterland1.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/hinterland2.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/01_merrickshouse_jp201210.jpg https://eartharchitecture.org/uploads/06_merrickshouse_jp201210.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVpYwdsA8Vg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PLa_-9hqLk |
Sorry, but, does this guy really have time to be talking about Biafra now when his house is literally on fire right now? Why hasn't he made a statement about the unity between Boko Haram and his people? Why doesn't he tell them that Nigeria is one and there are no victors of vanquished? Maybe then he can start to talk about Biafra. |
Why do Igbo people keep pointing out reasons for Nigeria not to let them go? It makes no sense. |
What is the verifiability of this source? |
The age gap... All of these baby politicians in the UK showing up Nigeria's greyed cabinets. |
bigfrancis21:Onitsha Igbo is like a shiny marketable champagne while Owerri Igbo is an earthy brandy. Igbo Izugbe is like a generalised version of the dialects spoken around the areas where northern Abia and Imo meet. |
aresa:Guy (or girl), SirShymexx already used one way and saved you guys, I then stopped, are you really trying to drag this thread back? Post about the south west nau. |
aresa:What can I say, I guess my writing is just very engaging. Now post south west offerings. |
aresa:Please see the last few pages where I was handling several of you at the same time and debunking left and right. Please post economic development of south western Nigeria today like I have done. |
SirShymexx:I thought we're past this now? You were telling me not to reply with derailing statements, now you have me dusting off the books again, or? |
SirShymexx:They're just continuing the trend of Nigeria being a one city state. Lagos = Nigeria to everyone anyway. |
I thought they said Nigerian youths can't govern. Or is it that the youths in Nigeria are different from the Nigerian youths abroad? |
the person who opened the thread should have focused on so called development in other parts of Nigeria today because the whole of Nigeria is mediocre at best. The only relevant industry is the oil industry and I don't see any attempts at truly trying to diversify. That's why threads like this end up derailed, because no one in Nigeria really has much to show in terms of industry outside Lagos and Abuja, the oil industry, and informal import/export. |
Okay... Anyway. Eko Atalntic proposed projects. Like I was saying this would have been better if they fixed Lagos mainland first before building a completely new city, but this is a rendering of some of the projects which will in some way affect the economy. EDC begins Azuri Peninsula development http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1809422 https://s24.postimg.org/baxl3kead/orunfeatured2z.jpghttps://s24.postimg.org/lm9xw85zp/zunafeatured_Z.jpg https://s1.postimg.org/d9y2pmt0v/Zuna.jpg These kinds of projects are only happening in the south west. |
Even though I believe Eko Atlantic is misplaced priorities, and have said so a long time ago. The place is shaping up at least and will probably be a good place for receiving investors and tourism, etc. https://s21.postimg.org/g00gkezyf/12141665_516447538514651_3299966689052044920_n_j.jpg https://s15.postimg.org/53yz16bx7/10361320_516446135181458_6934137497307190932_n_j.jpg |
I think tourism is probably the biggest in south western Nigeria and will continue to grow because of the spread of Yoruba religion all over the world, and especially among the African diaspora. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmqanHBrjL0 |
Advice taken. Okay omonnakoda and SirShymexx you've now started. Let me help... |
SirShymexx:That's what I've been writing the whole time. That's basically what started this. If this was just a showcase of south west contribution in the last few years, which there is much to talk about, instead of false information about other 'regions', then there wouldn't be this. |
SirShymexx:I'm not derailing nau, the people I'm responding to are the ones laying the blocks on the tracks, I'm just steering the train by discussing how different parts of Nigeria were influenced by colonialists agenda. |
SirShymexx:Check the post history. Everything here is a response. Someone makes a claim. A response is followed. I'm sure if someone made a claim you knew was untrue you'd want to correct them as well. So if there are no more false claims or verifiable facts then the thread can carry on. |
omonnakoda:You know all you wrote was bullshit, if not, you'd provide older evidence of textiles. Your initial statment was that eastern Nigerians were shrieking unclad, we've established that the oldest found woven textiles in the whole of West Africa was found in Anambra, and now you're replying with all this rubbish about "So what was found at Igbo Ukwu probably came from Benin" Even a Benin person would laugh at that, come on. https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/images/h2/h2_1978.412.302.jpg http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/pwmn_3/hd_pwmn_3.htm This is an image of a woman from the Court of Benin from the 1700s, the greatest empire West Africa has ever seen, completely unclad, the image below is of Queen Idia, probably the greatest Queen Mother of West Africa, bare chested herself, flanked by nude women. Below are ancient Egytpian women. Many if not all West African peoples had nude women, even the ancient Egyptians had nude dancing women and their queens were nude as well, it didn't change the fact that these two great kingdoms had advanced technology compared to most of their neighbours. Below those pictures are Igbo women mostly nude with quality cloth wrapped round their waists. The metals and textiles on them have been produced by their people for thousands of years and on their land the earliest textiles were found. Now what the Bleep are you threatening to "publish"? https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/images/hb/hb_1991.17.111.jpg http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/pwmn_3/hd_pwmn_3.htm https://s2.postimg.org/mmu0mgdp5/580px_Musicians_and_dancers_on_fresco_at_Tomb_of.jpghttps://s8.postimg.org/ixbfe23f9/Cleopatra_VII_from_Hermitage_Peterburg.jpg Cleopatra VII https://s18.postimg.org/cmiuqdkmh/engaged_igbo_ancient_jpg_w_604_h_411.jpg I'm still enjoying this. |
omonnakoda:Shrieking unclad but the second oldest textile was found in Anambra. Okay. "Dating from the ninth century, Igbo-Ukwu provides us with the earliest direct evidence we have for weaving in the region." https://books.google.com/books?id=QKD_VNQ0MF4C&pg=PA28&dq=oldest+textile+igbo+ukwu&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CCYQ6AEwAmoVChMIyrLQov7VyAIVQX4aCh2zGQ1K#v=onepage&q=oldest%20textile%20igbo%20ukwu&f=false "Weaving in West Africa The oldest known textiles are nine fragments found in a king's grave at Igbo Ukwu (southeastern Nigeria)." https://books.google.com/books?id=9VQYAAAAIAAJ&q=oldest+textile+igbo+ukwu&dq=oldest+textile+igbo+ukwu&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CCwQ6AEwA2oVChMIyrLQov7VyAIVQX4aCh2zGQ1K Keep digging. I'm enjoying this. The nsibidi writing system is reportedly of Ejagham origin and was developed by the peoples of the Cross River, including the Cross River Igbo. Ajayi Crowther didn't create a dictionary, it was a primer, and more Igbo words were already recorded by Olaudah Equiano in the 1780s.

omonnakoda:Nothing else? Okay. YoruBanger:The SS has Port Harcourt? Oh my God, I thought the Germans left in the 40s! |
