Why do you people enjoy lying as past time? Buhari was in Warri campaigning when Osibanjo was doing a town hall meeting campaign in Benin, before their big rally in Benin at a later date. They said rally carnival atmosphere doesn't give them opportunity to articulate more on policy issues and the opportunity for the audience to ask them questions. And the town hall meeting was broadcast live, giving them an equally national and international audience opportunity to showcase some of their plans like their social security plan for the disabled and the poor elderly. How nice it would had been if we are bystanders and allow politicians to do their usual, without their victims getting partisan involved and idiotic with them. |
BlackBaron:February will be interesting. But knowing Nigerians, they can explain themselves out, after every event, no matter what their opinion or position were prior. Remember what happened after both the Osun and Ekiti elections, despite all the chest beating on Nairaland prior, each side has swallowed their injured pride and had moved on. What people don't know was that the centre right had been ruling Nigeria since independence at centre under civil rule and military. NPC-NPN-NRC-PDP are the same group of people. When UPN won in 1979, they used some mathematical manipulation and conservative judiciary to hand over power to NPN. SDP won with Abiola in 1993 they were denied the mandate by centre right persons in the military. In 1999, they spranged a much conservative OBJ from prison to stop a more socialist inclined Olu Falae. If Buhari win this election, it might be the first time the centre left socialist has ever ruled Nigeria. In during the junta period the same scenario played out. No leftist military government had been allowed time in government without being overthrow-Ironsi-Murtala and Buhari. Compare that with ring wing military government of Gowon-Obasanjo-Babangida and Abacha/Abdulsalam. History favours the PDP and Jonathan in this election eventhough momentum were with APC and Buhari. February will tell. |
donphilopus:It's funny, that was exactly what Rochas did with Jonathan in 2011. In owerri then, his campaign office was drenched with a huge GEJ poster bigger than his, Jonathan will still win in Imo by a landslide but never the previous 98% turn out and with 99% gain of the vote. Politician are opportunistic maniacs. In Rivers State Jonathan will also have a landslide , but not in the magnitude of 2011. In the governorship race, Amaechi had his work cut out. Wike is from the biggest grouping in the state and his deputy is from the second largest group-Ijaw and Mrs Jonathan people in Okrika will back Wike based purely on Nigeria tribal loyalty. APC candidate is from the minority and his deputy too. And the disappointed Ogoni people who thought that they will be supplying the APC candidate doesn't help. For Peterside to win, he had to gain at least 60% of the vote in Port Harcourt city to stand a chance, which is almost impossible and then hope for a miracle of rigging, maybe. |
The corruption in Nigeria is endemic not found in any countries. Corruption in Nigeria is like a cancer, it needs an aggressive approach to stand any chance of success of cure. In China putting a corrupt person in a crate is a luxury because you would be executed. From his days as a deputy governor, Jonathan and his wife were corrupt. Asking them to fight corruption is like asking the Pope to deny the Vatican. Who can forget his chameleons attitude during the Alamieyesiegha pre impeachment saga years ago? How he arranged to pick him up in Ivory Coast, organized a hero welcome for him but quickly abandoned him and switched side once Obasanjo barked and threatened him too with impeachment and arrest. |
Sri Lanka's president, Mahinda Rajapaksa has been defeated in the presidential election. Official results showed Maithripala Sirisena, a former ally of the incumbent, had won 51.3% of the vote. Mr Rajapaksa, in office since 2005, said on Twitter he looked forward to a peaceful transition of power. He based his campaign on the theme: the devil you know is better than the Angel you do not know. Mr Sirisena who was the president' health minister had already received promises of support from Tamil and Muslim leaders before the election. But the result shows he also picked up a significant portion of the majority Sinhalese vote, most of whom solidly supported Mr Rajapaksa in previous elections. Less than two months ago before this election was called by the president, this result was unimaginable. The winner defected to the opposition only two months ago and united all the fractured opposition behind him who cannot individually come any close in defeating the ruling party and the president. Both men were allies until November when Mr Sirisena, the former health minister in Mr Rajapaksa's government, announced his surprise candidacy. |
dunkem21:Where was he queing to buy this milk and why two tins? ![]() How many of those unison actually understood what he was talking about and how many was around in 1984? What next? I could not afford a cup to drink the milk, so I drank it with a banana leaf. |
iiichidodo:If I were some of you I would even be embarrass hearing him utter this wordS. Its either he has got so selective and short memory or he thinks that people of Nigeria and the world are fools. He used this same mouth to claim that MEND wasn't responsible for the bombing, even when they did claim responsibility and never did he refute his earlier claim until four years later? And not only they did the bombing but now they wanted to kill him? He had an intelligent report and no arrest was made and then allowed the bombing to take place, despite having fore information? Not only that no one was arrested or charge/convicted by his so called intelligence, he left prosecution of Okah to the South Africans, just as he left only the UK justice system to bring Ibori to book because he couldn't. He should tell us why Okah wanted to kill him? Who can blame this politicians if their followers are as inept as they are, that they cannot even remember an event of just four years ago? |
olusolaj:So you usually go to the cockpit to check the religion of the pilot before flying? When you go the hospital, you ask the doctor to recite some bible verses first, to ascertain he is a Christian before agreeing for a treatment. Next time you buy a suya, make sure it's must come from a Christian or you may choke on it. Normally your mechanic must be a pastor before he is allowed to touch your car. Next time robbers are at your door and if you are fortunate to have a police intervention, ask them their religion first and send them back if they are not Christian. Tell that midwife not to touch or help your wife in labour because she cannot be touched by a non Christian. Do not vote Jonathan, not until he replaces Sambo with Oritsejafor as his VP, his sainthood may be contaminated by Sambo the moslem. |
morefire:When you had such a large crowd in the middle of the week, as we saw in Port Harcourt on Tuesday and today in Lagos, to me as an observer, what it indicates is the level of unemployment in every part of Nigeria. People that had a job to go to or had something meaningful to do will not leave it to go for a political jamboree in the middle of the day. Its shows that political industry is the only thriving sector in Nigeria, no matter the state of the economy. |
barcanista:I don't blame you Nwunnem. ![]() Who wants to go to jail? You must have been on Skype with James Ibori and the report card weren't great. Not when you spent almost half a billion dollar building a stadium for Akwa Ibom of all places without even an Enyimba, Rangers or Shooting Stars of this world to at least make it useful every other weekend. |
When decent people were recovering from the fact that Jonathan called Babangida is father last week, this week he topped it by calling the epitome of everything that was wrong in the Shagari's failed government-Umaru Dikko his father. Great! I can't wait for the presidential debate. With mumbling Buhari one one side and clueless Jonathan on the other side. |
barcanista:He should have done an intership with the Abia governor before speaking ![]() |
barcanista: ![]() I didn't know that, which position did he play? And what was his role in not qualifying for Equatorial Guinea 2015? I think that Yobo should stick with scoring own goals with his usual kamikaze defending and leave politics for the professionals. Totally clueless. |
He must be a professional job creating magician to be able to create 20k jobs per state. We are in the season madness, aren't we? |
Flets:The point is proven by your own words on the bolded. If you were him, you would not make such a statement. Why? Because you are smart maybe and knows the implications and probably that can be twisted against you. Why did he make such statement which you admitted that you wouldn't? Because he is totally CLUELESS! Your point 2& 3 are probably the most naive justification to cluelessness. Gentleness, meekness, loyalty and abiding by the rule of law can never be equated to cluelessness. Jonathan was loyal to his boss and he strictly abided by the rule of law by not usurping power when the president has not been officially declared incapacitated. Sometimes you lot sound like you've missed the military regime alot where everything is forcefully done with impunity. We prayed to get out of military rule and GEJ is the true embodiement of what democracy should look like and we need to start getting used to it.Being gentle has nothing to do with clueless. Chinua Achebe is one of the gentliest person one could meet, but have you heard of anyone, even his enemies calling him clueless? Jonathan is so clueless, the northern power gang showed him a lifeless Yar Adua and he came and told us he is getting better. I keep saying it that he might be the first Nigeria president to be sent to jail because he will be so clueless as to know how the others before him covers their tracks. Mark my word. It gets me angry when ppl come online to touch on ppls emotions. It's a known fact that a lot of ppl on nairaland are beneficiaries of this corrupt system. Do we expect them to see anything wrong with the system; or is somebody telling me friends and families of the ruling class in Nigeria are not NLanders?Being angry doesn't solve anything. Why are you angry when you are comfortable a possible four more years of ineptness of a party and their corrupt clueless leaders doing the same very thing for the the last16 years? You are the one that cannot see that Jonathan is not a leader, anyone can see it, if they are honest with themselves. Allowing petty crooks to hijack his government. Hiring FFK of all people to run your campaign is a red hot cluelessness. The fight against insurgents was way on before the chibok incidents. I am not sure where you got the info that he considered it hoax. Insinuations and rumours does not always pass as reality. However, the questions around the chibok incident have continued to seek answers not just by Nigerian public but also by international observers because alot of things dont add up.It seems that you had been holidaying on the moon. If not, it was a common knowledge that Jonathan and his sidekicks believed that Chibok was a hoax. Godswill Akpabio came out of a meeting with him at Aso Rock said it before the world media that it was hoax. Kema Chikwe came out too and repeated the same after meeting Jonathan. They demanded to see pictures/DNA evidence of the victims etc. Do you want me to go on? How can he not be clueless, when he declared a huge part of the territory that he governs as a no go area for him? What sort of confidence does that give to the armed forces that are fighting without needed weapon, when your own C-in-C does that? When a U.S president can fly into Iraq or Afghanistan in the middle of war, just to support his troops and Jonathan were inviting the victim to Aso Rocks to see his wife, who try to cry with eye glasses still on. 'America will know'... Probably not the best statement for a learned environment but perfect for the context and audience. . Do you mind telling mw what us clueless about that statement without emotions? You said it yourself again. Probably not the best statement. That is the clueless their for you. When the head of a sovereign state stated that the authenticity of a serious national security issue in his domain is measured only if another sovereign nation knows about it. That's just dumb. I wanted to hide when he said it. How clueless can one get after that? You can see that I don't do emotion, just hard facts. Unfortunately we turn blind eyes to the things that matter and focus on irrelevant stuffs just to score cheap political points.Where do I start on this one? Ok. Yes, we turn blind eyes on things that matters like, why over $20 billion was spent on power and nothing changed and he ended up selling off public asset to the same bunch of people stealing public money but are more keen on Buhari's certificate? FOI or free and fair elections is not an achievement, it's a democratic rights made possible through the legislative process and willingness to implement the electoral Act by Jega and his team respectively (,never mind Anambra Gubernatorial election). Babangida probably oversaw the most free election in the history of Nigeria, was it down to him? No! It was purely down to Humphrey Nwosu. How much belief does Jonathan has on the FOI, when he claimed that he doesn't give a damned about declaring his asset as the leadeing public servant? Tell me how that was not clueless? Nigeria is awashed with so many already glorified secondary schools called universities, so why build more when you cannot maintain or equip the hundreds of the sub standard ones? You cannot pay their lecturers, you are graduating so many semi illiterates and armed robbers? Nigeria need first class modern refineries , not your oil and gas policy geared tailored towards making few political sidekicks overnight billionaires, after 16 years of $100 average crudes sales and they are still importing refined crude. That's called clueless. Laziness is Nigeria's biggest problem. We will still complain about the next president after GEJ yet no plans for the future.I agree with you that Nigerians are lazy. Mainly intellectual laziness, your are doing exactly that now. Supporting mediocrity in the name of some sort of loyalty. Do I think that Buhari is the answer? Maybe be not, but for the fact that you seriously considered Jonathan as a signal for a future, shows that you are probably more clueless than him. |
JECBOSS:GEJ handsome? Have you seen Papi Luwe? |
babyfun:No wonder ththose that you started the race with, the Malaysians are asking where you've gone? Because they refused to wait for God |
Wow western oriented!!,That must worth some Nobel prize for orientation. While he is busy borrowing billions from the Eastern oriented Chinese. |
The last time I checked, Jonathan was the spokesman for MEND after the Abuja bombing when he claimed that MEND didn't do it, even when they had already claimed responsibility. |
Flets:1.Even my grandson knew that stealing is the nucleus of corruption and GEJ doesn't know that 2.Yar Adua signed a national budget even when he was already in a vegetable state and GEJ had no idea, don't even know country or hospital Yar Adua was-totally clueless. 3. When the law was on his side to take over as the acting president, he was totally clueless on how to claim it, until Akunyili saved his a.ss. 4. It took him 3 weeks to realize that I chibok incident isn't a hoax to the bewilderment of the world. And senator McCain called him some clueless fellla called Goodluck. 5. That Americans will know if the money he supposed to be looking after is missing, that his source of knowing- that is damned clueless. What more reason do you want? |
Alphaoscar:Men of integrity? Yeah right! |
kemitwarrior:Why not go to Otueke and find out. Get a life! |
onatisi:Since when does Nigerian politicians and their supporters, an agents for the truth? A party that is openly lying about the academic qualification of its presidential candidate is not a party the founding fathers of this great nation nigeria will like to see rule this country.Since we are in the crusade for the truth, who told us few months ago that they had signed a ceasefire with Boko Haram and Chibok girl will be release at any given moment? And we were congratulating. What happened? Despite the fact that pdp isn't perfect or the best ,they always try to do their own magomago within the loopholes of the law.Who is looking for perfection in the first place. If you knew there was a loophole to be exploited, why are you whining knowing that it's an exercise in futility? But apc is virtually telling nigerians to go to hell and that nigeria has no choice but to bend and kiss the feet of tinubu and buhari if they want any change. And it took you this long to figure it out that they are telling you that, not only to go to hell but also to go and .... all along? The question nigerians should be asking apc is ,is buhari the only competent candidate they have for the presidency? if so then,it means nigeria doesn't yet have a credible alternative party to pdp.Not the Nigerians on their side that doesn't give a damn about what you think. They had a primary, and he was elected among those that declared interest. He may not be competent for you but he is over competent with them and that is life. And has a 50-50 chance of becoming your president. On the election day you have the chance to reject him and vote for your 10 other competent choices. |
Omila007:Proving beyond reasonable doubt is not done on Nairaland. If I were them, I wont be bothering answering the question. Because it a waste of breath, meaningless and has no value. If Jonathan was the first graduate to rule Nigeria, maybe Buhari will broke another record of becoming your first illiterate leader, ie if he wins. There is always a first time for everything. So deal with it. |
babestella:A stack illiterate is someone who cannot read or write in any language. |
Right Wing Red Necks: You are not an American. Obama: Yes, I am, my grandma was still around prior to my election. Right Wing Red Necks: You support a hateful preacher Jeremiah Wright. Obama: I am only a member of the church. Right Wing Red Necks: You are a Closet Muslim. Obama: Whats a closet Muslim, how does that work? Right Wing Red Necks: You are a secret Muslim. Obama: I thought you said I was a hate preacher supporter? Right Wing Red Necks: Never mind that. You are not the son of your father. Obama: Ok? Right Wing Red Necks: We heard you didn't actually go to law school. Obama: Actually? Right Wing Red Necks: Show us your certificate. Obama: I was the first black editor of Harvard law Journal, you cannot do that while picking fruits in California. Right Wing Red Necks: Who cares, we still want to see it. Obama: I am sorry, No chance. Right Wing Red Necks: You are still not American. Obama: If you said so. I am still your president. deal with it. Right Wing Red Necks: You are arrogant. Obama: I know, you preferred me that way. Right Wing Red Necks: Show us your birth certificate. Obama: You are wasting your time. Right Wing Red Necks: That confirms it. Obama: Confirms what? Right Wing Red Necks: That you are hiding something, that why refused. Obama: Ok! Here is my birth certificate, you can shut up now Right Wing Red Necks: Show us the midwife that delivered you at birth. Obama: Are you for real, seriously? Right Wing Red Necks: Ah! By the way, your certificate is Oluwole. Obama: What's Oluwole? Right Wing Red Necks: That is what your fellow African monkeys from Nigeria calls fake certificate. Obama: Monkeys? I get it. It not about my certificate is it? Why do I bother. You can kiss my a.s.s. Right Wing Red Necks: Yeah!! We heard your wife use to be a man! How about uh? Obama: Like I said you can kiss my pink behind! Even if Buhari give his detractors a certificate carved in stone, they will still be asking for something else. Like the satire above shows, its a waste of energy and futile, trying to to please a human whose mind is overly crooked over an issue, when they can easily call white as black without even flinching. Instead of working hard helping the candidate of your choice, you resort to cheap propaganda and insult, thereby indirectly shoring up your opponent's base against your own candidate. An average northerner even those in PDP will see this an an insult to their collective wellbeing as a people on how an average southerner think of them as illiterate if they can call one of the elite an illiterate. Why do you think northern politicians had kept mute over this issue, including those in the PDP? |
aguiyi:I don't get your calculation. The capacity of the stadium I was told is 40k, so don't get your 75k. It just that this politics things with some of you is sometimes bewildering. Whether the crowd is big or small, if I were Buhari, I shall be satisfied with that because that was 10 times bigger than his total number of votes last term. |
aguiyi:Very good point. They full capacity of that arena does it reflect even 5% of Rivers State? |
hopilo:What your definition of a tumultuous crowd? Maybe people standing on top of each other? Huge rally crowd Tuesday morning in most sane countries will even be attributed to high level of unemployment. |
temitemi1:Am sure, if they said to you that some falling blizzards (heavy snowing) disrupted the rally you will still believe it and start dancing kokoma. |
Beesluv:Exactly. I went to your rally doesn't mean that I will vote for you. Neither does not attending translates that I won't be voting for you, especially when I got work to go to in order to feed my family. |
