Nairaland GeneralOver 1.3 Million Candidates Have Accessed 2019 UTME Result – JAMB by faith2kool(op): 6:53pm On May 15, 2019
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says over 1.3 million candidates have so far accessed their results using the result checker (code), 55019.

The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.

Benjamin was speaking against the backdrop of claims in some quarters that majority of candidates who participated at the board’s 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) had yet to access their results through the said code.

He also described as untrue, claims by some mischief makers that the N50 charges incurred through the code was going to the board’s purse.

“I want to refute all these claims as there is no truth in them.

“First and foremost, by our records, over 1.3 candidates who sat for this examination have accessed their results using the code for checking the results, which remains ‘55019’.

“Again, let me also state in clear terms that the N50 charged in the process of checking these results does not go to JAMB’s purse but to the various service providers,” Benjamin said.

According to the spokesman, the clarification became necessary in view of what he described as ‘wicked and malicious rumours’ by some persons that the board is charging a fee for checking of results.

Giving a breakdown of the total number of results checked by candidates through the various network providers, Benjamin noted that MTN had the highest, with a total of 888,598, followed by Glo, with a total of 190,923.

Nairaland GeneralMy Husband Is Always Too Hungry For S3x, He Might Turn Me To Something Else by faith2kool(op): 5:32am On Apr 27, 2019
An Oke-Bola-based trader, Olabisi Adejola, has pleaded with a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, to dissolve her 16-year-old union to her husband, Paul because he is too sex hungry and often rape her.

Testifying before Chief Ademola Odunade, the court’s President, Obabisi, a mother of three, said that that her husband might sniff life out of her if the court did not separate them because he usually rapes her.

“My lord, I made up my mind to call it quits with Paul because there is no peace in our marriage. “Paul often subjects me to untold brutality in the process of sleeping with me.

“If he does not succeed in raping me, he beats or rains curses on me. “Paul is forever requesting for sex and I fear that he might turn me into something else if I don’t leave him,” she told the court.

CelebritiesMarriage Vows Are Satanic – Daddy Freeze by faith2kool(op): 8:59pm On Mar 20, 2019
Popular and controversial Nigerian OAP, Daddy Freeze has said that according to Christ, all vows including marriage vows are satanic.

He made this known in a recent post on his Instagram page, where he stated that anyone who disagrees with the statement can go ahead and argue with Christ when they meet.

See what he wrote below:

For Christians, the scriptures say two became one. How can you become one with someone who can’t access your phone, email or bank details? HOW?

Those pulpit gaslights have lied to you all your life, a great pity it is that you are living a lie and the consequence is your expulsion from God’s city read Rev22:15.

Nairaland General10 Most Developed States In Nigeria (no 2 Will Shock You) by faith2kool(op): 8:40pm On Mar 20, 2019
There are 36 states in Nigeria; however there are some states that are very well developed in terms of infrastructure while there are others that are lagging behind.

In this post, we take a look at the 10 most developed states in the country in terms of infrastructure.

1. Lagos State

With a population of over 20 million residents and serving as the economic center of the country, Lagos is clearly the most developed state in Nigeria.

The state is one of the major financial centers in Africa. In 2017, Lagos generated an estimated revenue of ₦334 billion (equivalent to US$920 million), growing by 10.43% compared to 2016.

Although it is the smallest state in the country, it remains the most economically important state with many of the major companies in Nigeria located within the city of Lagos.

2. Kano State

Located in Northern Nigeria, Kano State is another major state in the country. The state was created on the 27th of May 1967. Kano State borders Katsina State to the north-west, Jigawa State to the North-East, Bauchi State to the South-East and Kaduna State to the South-West. The capital of Kano State is Kano.

In the Northern part of Nigeria, Kano is one of the most developed states in the region. The state is a hub of agriculture, where food crops are produced and exported. These crops include groundnuts, cotton, millet, chili pepper, and other popular products.

For many years, Kano has always been a commercial center and one of the biggest industrial centers in Nigeria after Lagos. The state is the largest in Northern Nigeria with industries ranging from textile, tanning, footwear, cosmetics, plastics, enamelware, pharmaceuticals to ceramics and furniture industries. Others include agricultural implements, soft drinks, food and beverages, dairy products, vegetable oil and animal feeds industries.

3. Anambra State

Anambra State is one of the major states in the South Eastern part of Nigeria. Anambra is often called the ‘light of Nigeria’ by locals because of its massive potential to outgrow the likes of Lagos and Abuja in the future. Apart from the local soils which are arable, the state is also home to agro-based industries such as farming, fisheries, pasturing, etc.

One of the major cities in Anambra is Onitsha which is a historic port city from pre-colonial times.

Anambra is also one of the oil producing states in the country. In 2006, a foundation-laying ceremony for the first Nigerian private refinery, Orient Petroleum Refinery (OPR), was made at Aguleri area. The Orient Petroleum Resource Ltd, (OPRL) owners of OPR, was licensed in June 2002, by the Federal Government to construct a private refinery with a capacity of 55,000 barrels per day.

4. Abia State

Abia is a state in the south eastern part of Nigeria and it is one of the most developed states in the country. The capital of Abia is Umuahia and the major commercial city is Aba, which was formerly a British colonial government outpost in the region.

The state was created in 1991 from part of Imo State and it is one of the constituent states of the Niger Delta region

Aba which is the commercial center is well developed. The center is rich in gas and crude oil and the local production of these popular products contributes nearly 40 percent to the state’s gross domestic product. Career10 Best Skills To Acquire In Nigeria In 2019 by faith2kool(op): 8:15pm On Mar 20, 2019
According to LinkedIn, there are at least 50,000 professional skills in the world with some of these skills being highly sought after while some aren’t.

In this post, we have compiled the top 10 best skills to acquire in Nigeria.

Strengthening your skills or learning a highly sought after skill is one of the best investments you can make in your career because it gives you an edge in your

industry and enables you grow in your career.

1. Creative Thinking

Many roles are becoming automated as a result many people are starting to lose their jobs. It is quite interesting how automation has improved efficiency in the workplace and it is only expected the level of automation will continue to increase with each passing year. However, organizations still need creative employees who can conceive the solutions of tomorrow.

Often times, people associate creativity with artistic tasks such as writing a novel, painting a picture, or composing music. While these are all creative endeavors, not all creative thinkers are artists. Many jobs require creative thinking, including positions in the worlds of business and science.

Creativity simply means being able to come up with something new. Therefore, creative thinking is the ability to consider something – a conflict between employees, a data set, a group project – in a new way. Employers in all industries want employees who can do this.

2. Persuasion

Persuasion is another important skill in today’s business world. Persuasion skill is basically the talent of changing the attitudes, beliefs, or behaviors of a person or group towards another person, group, event, object, or idea. It is usually done by conveying, in a message, some feelings, information, reasoning, or a combination.
In a nutshell, persuasion skills mean the ability to make intentional and successful efforts at influencing someone’s mental state through written or verbal communication. Whether it is a college presentation or a sales pitch to potential buyer, persuasion skills are essential for success in every stage of life. This makes persuasion one of the most important skills that you can develop.

3. Cloud Computing

Cloud computing involves the availability of computer system resources, especially storage and computing power without the direct active management by users. The term is generally used to describe data centers available to many users over the Internet. Large clouds, predominant today, often have functions distributed over multiple locations from central servers. If the connection to the user is relatively close, it may be designated an Edge server.

Clouds may be limited to a single organization (enterprise clouds,) be available to many organizations (public cloud,) or a combination of both (hybrid cloud.)

Cloud computing relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale. Advocates of public and hybrid clouds note that cloud computing allow companies to avoid or minimize up-front IT infrastructure costs. Experts also claim that cloud computing allows enterprises to get their applications up and running faster, with improved manageability and less maintenance, and that it enables IT teams to more rapidly adjust resources to meet fluctuating and unpredictable demand. Cloud providers typically use a “pay-as-you-go” model, which can lead to unexpected operating expenses if administrators are not familiarized with cloud-pricing models.

The availability of high-capacity networks, low-cost computers and storage devices as well as the widespread adoption of hardware virtualization, service-oriented architecture, and autonomic and utility computing has led to growth in cloud computing

With the world moving toward the cloud, companies are desperately searching for engineers who have the skills to accommodate this demand.

4. Data Science/Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence or AI is an interesting field in computer science while Data science is another important skill that is linked to AI.

Data Science has been an in-demand skill for the past several years as a result of the strong need for those who can make sense of a magnitude of data. In addition, these data is extremely important in the field of AI. Consequently, AI and Data Science is becoming increasingly important with many startups deploying this technology to create interesting products.

Also, major companies are looking to AI to ensure they remain relevant in their industry. Consequently, individual with knowledge of AI and Data Science are becoming highly sought after

PoliticsI Have Done My Best For The Transport Sector – Rotimi Amaechi Brag by faith2kool(op): 7:30pm On Mar 19, 2019
The Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, Tuesday said he has done his best for the transport sector which has recorded a lot of success since he became minister in 2015.

Amaechi said this in an interview with journalists on Tuesday, in Abuja.

He listed the achievements of the ministry to include; the improved rail sub-sector, safer Nigeria waterways; as well as the improvement of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in the area of regulation.

“I have done my best; there is nothing else I can do, I could not have done better than what I have done, they have been changes in the transport system.

“Now you can go to Kaduna from Abuja regularly and safely by rail; we are almost concluding the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge; and we are also renegotiating with a South African firm under a public private partnership to rehabilitate the narrow gauge lines.

“There is a lot of improvement in the waters. We contracted 495 million dollars to the Israelis to secure our waters for two years.

“That way, the cost of transporting goods into Nigeria will reduce and the delay time of cargoes at the seaport has started reducing.

“We are partnering with the Ministry of Works to work on the Lagos road that leads to the seaport; and that will tackle the traffic gridlock experienced on the axis.

“So far, we are satisfied that we have made our contributions,’’ the minister said.

Speaking on a likely cabinet change, Amaechi said the passion to work had been built into the system and that anyone could perform optimally in any sector.

CelebritiesIyanya Fires Back At Ubi Franklin, Says His Receipts Are Fake (video) by faith2kool(op): 3:29am On Mar 13, 2019
Recently, there has been accusations flying around between Singer, Iyanya and Ubi Franklin, an ex-partner at record label, ‘Made Men Music Group’.

In an earlier interview with Ndani TV, Iyanya made claims that Ubi Franklin didn’t make him part of the playmakers in the company, even though the agreement they earlier made was for him (Iyanya) to be a co-owner.

In response to Iyanya’s accusations, Ubi took to his page to post ‘receipts’ to claim that Iyanya was indeed part of the MMMG major players, showing documents that proved that.

However, in a recent interview with Cool FM, Iyanya debunked the receipts claiming they are “settlement” receipts, after he had found out at CAC that his name was not included as part of the directors in the company. According to the singer, Ubi used his brothers names instead.

CelebritiesAll You Need To Know About Lucky Dube, Life And Death by faith2kool(op): 10:19pm On Aug 03, 2018
Lucky Dube was one African artist talk again racist. His song was educative, inspiring, and he always preach about love to humanity. He his one of the greatest artist of all time.

Lucky Philip Dube 3 August 1964 – 18 October 2007) was a South African reggae musician and Rastafarian. He recorded 22 albums in Zulu, English and Afrikaans in a 25-year period and was South Africa’s biggest-selling reggae artist. Dube was murdered in the Johannesburg suburb of Rosettenville on the evening of 18 October 2007.
Early life

Lucky Dube was born in Ermelo, formerly of the Eastern Transvaal, now of Mpumalanga, on 3 August 1964. His parents separated before his birth and he was raised by his mother who named him Lucky because she considered his birth fortunate after a number of failed pregnancies. Along with his two siblings, Thandi and Patrick, Dube spent much of his childhood with his grandmother, Sarah, while his mother relocated to work. In a 1999 interview, he described his grandmother as “his greatest love” who “multiplied many things to bring up this responsible individual that I am today.”
Beginning of his musical career

As a child Dube worked as a gardener but, as he matured, realizing that he wasn’t earning enough to feed his family, he began to attend school. There he joined a choir and with some friends, formed his first musical ensemble, called The Skyway Band. While at school he discovered the Rastafari movement. At the age of 18 Dube joined his cousin’s band, The Love Brothers, playing Zulu pop music known as mbaqanga whilst funding his lifestyle by working for Hole and Cooke as a security guard at the car auctions in Midrand. The band signed with Teal Record Company, under Richard Siluma (Teal was later incorporated into Gallo Record Company). Though Dube was still at school, the band recorded material in Johannesburg during his school holidays. The resultant album was released under the name Lucky Dube and the Supersoul. The second album was released soon afterwards, and this time Dube wrote some of the lyrics in addition to singing. It was around this same time when he began to learn English.
Moving into reggae

On the release of his fifth album, Dave Segal (who became Dube’s sound engineer) encouraged him to drop the “Supersoul” element of the name. All subsequent albums were recorded as Lucky Dube. At this time Dube began to note fans were responding positively to some reggae songs he played during live concerts. Drawing inspiration from Jimmy Cliff and Peter Tosh, he felt the socio-political messages associated with Jamaican reggae were relevant to a South African audience in an institutionally racist society.

He decided to try the new musical genre and in 1984, released the mini album Rastas Never Die. The record sold poorly – around 4000 units – in comparison to the 30,000 units his mbaqanga records would sell. Keen to suppress anti-apartheid activism, the apartheid regime banned the album in 1985, because of its critical lyrics, for instance in the song “War and Crime”. However, he was not discouraged and continued to perform the reggae tracks live and wrote and produced a second reggae album. Think About The Children (1985). It achieved platinum sales status and established Dube as a popular reggae artist in South Africa, in addition to attracting attention outside his homeland.
Commercial and critical success

Dube continued to release commercially successful albums. In 1989 he won four OKTV Awards for Prisoner, won another for Captured Live the following year and yet another two for House of Exile the year after. His 1993 album, Victims sold over one million copies worldwide. In 1995 he earned a worldwide recording contract with Motown. His album Trinity was the first release on Tabu Records after Motown’s acquisition of the label.

In 1996 he released a compilation album, Serious Reggae Business, which led to him being named the “Best Selling African Recording Artist” at the World Music Awards and the “International Artist of the Year” at the Ghana Music Awards. His next three albums each won South African Music Awards. His most recent album, Respect, earned a European release through a deal with Warner Music. Dube toured internationally, sharing stages with artists such as Sinéad O’Connor, Peter Gabriel and Sting. He appeared at the 1991 Reggae Sunsplash (uniquely that year, was invited back on stage for a 25-minute-long encore) and the 2005 Live 8 event in Johannesburg.

In addition to performing music Dube was a sometime actor, appearing in the feature films Voice in the Dark, Getting Lucky and Lucky Strikes Back.

Lucky Dube is considered to be especially remarkable as a Dub Artist due to his lack of a diasporic cultural base. This was particularly due to the nature of Reggae and Dub being a platform for expression of displacement from the homeland. In Prisoner, the South African artist makes the genre his own by applying themes of apartheid and internal displacement. In the song and music video, he is found disturbing the bounds of the genre by highlighting the toils of his own homeland. He was revolutionary in so far as he introduced a competing version to Reggae’s constant tendency of romanticizing the utopian homeland of Africa.
