brio: hello ogas
all my portfolios are banking stock. should i sell or wait as all are currently in red. i am afriad. please advice
I dont think you need to panic so much...provided you are not depended on the stock market for ur daily bread!

just look at ur portfolio.. i dont think any bank is destined for failure yet.. take time and look for the best time to average down ur losses...if you intend doing long term.. you will come out well in the long run! However going forward do try to diversify ur portfolio!

mercylicious: Ive seen the results.
Thank God.
Atleast i should be able to recover my money.
Not too fast.. the market is bearish now; I doubt if this result can take AIICO any far.

I know people with hundreds of millions that they want to flog out..

Y is the house so quiet? As someone said, the house is sober. I think it's time to encourage each other on safety precautions and re-evaluation of trends in the market.
Now that the market is berish...we should be seeing more of STOCKBEAR.. undecided

Any way i know that most people here are seriously trying to raise money from their day jobs to unleash on the market as soon there is a small greemn sign of a Bull approaching..For me the money is made in the buying..*Goods well bought are already half sold)

Time to wait patiently for some stocks am targeting to come down lower.. placed a bid for UBA at 7.50..hopefully i will start to accumulate soonest

fsb: The federal government will be paying the gratuities of Nepal workers soon. Any chance that can increase the rates we get from treasury bills? Almost 400 billion naira pushed into the economy almost at once.
who told you the govt will pay them that money?

how many times have we heard that same story?

azpekuliar: What's the extra benefit with using a Discount house compared to a Commercial bank.
If you have to move your funds between stocks and Tbills like I do at the shortest notice whiout incurring any COT or the likes then you will appreciate why i use these Discount houses/investment banks...

All I do in banks is just Current account. Opari!! They are never able to give you good investment tips and all they want is just deposits!

oyewole123: @ Feelamong

Thanks

pappilo: I also researched Ghana Tbills and was almost going to bite the bullet but I decided with my head and pulled out last minute. The value of the Ghanaian Cedi has been eroded drastically since the new Cedi was introduced in 2007 and if this devaluation trend continues (most likely will) it will be a complete waste of time investing in their Tbills.

In 2007 $1 = 0.92GHc and in 2012 it was $1 = 1.82 GHc (now it's $1 = 2GHc). If you invested 1000GHc in 2007 and rolled over and compounded it over 5 years you will have had 2490GHc in 2012. Your original 1000GHc could get you $1085 in 2007. In 2012 your 2496GHc would have bought you $1368. In real terms, only a profit of $283 over 5 years i.e. true yield of 5% annually

Not worth the stress in my opinion.
Very True...the Ghanian Cedi should be the worst performing currency in the world now! then add that to the wastful govt you have in place now and the fact that there is still some level of political instability over the last election results... for me its a no no no!

Mpeace :
This thread is really commendable. Pls I will like to know the best and most efficient bank in Treasury bill investment. That is, a bank that pays interest as at when due and will terminate the investment when you request. I once tried first bank, and it took them 2wks to make a successful bid, it also took about some days to terminate. Infact they once paid an incomplete interest(19k instead of 21k) I had to complain before they paid the difference. So which bank is the best?
I have never used a bank for my Tbills Transaction.. Rather use The Discount Houses, or boutique investment banks..
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by feelamong(op): 11:51am On Jul 25, 2013
TBILLS CBN STOP RATES FOR 25/07/2013

91 days ---------11.60%

182 days --------12.75%

364 days ---------13.33%

I would definitely be throwing my bid come August 6th ....The new CBN CRR rates would only make the banks to sell down on their Tbills and as such attract higher rates for us in the Auction!wink

Happy Investing!

With the clarification of the Federal Reserve officials in US as per the Bond purchase.. the market is set to continue on its way up...

Really pity all those that panicly ran away from stocks and sold off their good stocks at ridiculous prices..

My only regret was that i did not get to buy enough of the Skye bank when it dropped so well due to my price limits...maybe next time i will remove the limits... I will start to attack dangote sugar now... My portfolio don get too much bank stocks!

Ojix85: Bro, I thought the auction was once every 2 weeks.. Could you pls explain?
Yea its suppose to be every two weeks but once in a while the Oga at Top in CBN distorts this.. grin

But on a serious note if you care to look at the Tbill Time table that was realeased by CBN at the start of the year.. it showed that there is an unction on this date... just go the cbn web site..
