My post wasn't just advocating owning guns.

I was advocating that there are several decisions taken at the design stage that make the work of breaking and entry easy, and that the obtuse side of the argument is that several decisions can be taken at the design stage to make the work of breaking and entry more difficult, thus buying the homeowner time to rally defenses.

My post was addressing the issue that even at the design stage it is possible to incorporate security features into the build.

More often than not, security is an afterthought.

I know of a house that has a bunker that the homeowners can retreat to in the event of trouble while calling in reinforcements, that is an example of incorporating security at the design stage and not as a bolt on.

Three examples taken from another domain (the automotive industry) will help illustrate my point.

Example 1: Do you know why bulletproof cars do not have windows that be rolled down?


That is an example of actively sacrificing comfort for security. Building the house with security in mind, might involve making such trade-offs between ease of use on the one hand and increased security of the occupants on the other hand.

They are way too thick and way too heavy to be.

Example 2: Do you know why bulletproof cars have a special cage in from of the radiator?


Because the car can be immobilized by a bullet aimed at the radiator. So what was the point of all that enhanced security is a bullet to the radiator will compromise the security of the car?

Example 3: Do you know why bulletproof car doors are so heavy?


Because the normal door metal easily lets bullets in.

That said, just as bulletproof cars are more expensive, such a house will be more expensive to build.

But you can't have your cake and eat it, if you want more security, you have to spend on it.

One example that is relevant to the construction industry is a wall break detector. Why should you only know you have an intruder when he meets with you in your seating room or bedroom? When wall break detector technology exists? And many of those who have suffered this indignity can very well afford this technology?

Dont drain ur leadacid battery below 50% , dont leave it always discharged, it likes being charged full daily + dont load or charge it above 15 %, ie not more than 30amps or above 300 watts load for a single 12 volts 200 ah battery.then a good leadacid can give you 800 cycles..

Lithium battery doesnt care for any of the rules above and has 4000 cycles, before loosing 20 percent capacity.

From the above, u can see why leadacid will always disappoint, as its tough to give it what it likes

in PH, my former place of residence, there use to be this man that had generator plants, which he uses to generate n distribute power to about 5 streets in where PHCN has refused to give them power for almost 2years in PH.

do u knw that one day, PHCN mobilized some force men, troops in trucks. they came bundled the man, disconnected all his supply lines, and whisked away with his about 4-5power generating plants...

that was when I realized that it will be very hard for this country to see forwardness...

get a 12v 200ah to 280ah lithium battery for about 300k to 400k abd forget about buying battery for the next 10 to 15yrs. or get a 100ah model for less than 200k if funds is a constraint

Well said. One way to deal with POP guys is to keep them outside. I advised a client to build a shed for them outside and he was glad he did. It is the period of producing the POP boards that generate most dirt's if you can keep them off then the dirt's is less. The plasterboard also generate little dirt's majorly stains while screeding it . Two challenges with Plaster board is that it is expensive and limited in design there are some designs you can't achieve with plaster board easily. Also the angle profiles always show rust stain until you apply some special paints over and over on those stains. My submission is based on the fact that I have done the two over and over.

There are many ways to do things. You can do them by the book i.e., you paid me to install POP, I am done, you handle the mess, I'm out of here aka just do the POP say nothing about the mess it will make and just go and let the client deal with the mess himself.

Or you can tell the client this is my quote, POP only, no cleaning but this is an alternate quote POP and cleaning. If you take the first, I will not be responsible for cleaning.

While the client has a role to pay, the vendor has a role to play to guide the client who wants POP but does not know the implications of making POP on his property.

We are different I get; we will do things differently.

It is really up to you vendors and your exposure and what circles you wish to play in.

But

That is one side of the story.

The other side of the story is that while POP is cheaper, you will spend extra in cleaning up after the POP guys.

So, the cost of POP is incomplete without post-cleanup costs.

As a rule, POP guys don't believe their job includes returning the client's space to the condition it was before they installed the POP

On the other hand, plasterboard is more expensive to install but it does not litter the space the way POP does.

Infact just sweeping the space post-plasterboard installation is enough to return the space to the way it was pre-installation.

So also figure in the time it takes to complete cleanup of the space post POP installation versus the time it takes to compete cleanup of the space post plasterboard installation.

Then you have a complete picture.

You may be misreading your inverter manual.


In UPS mode, your inverter will allow mains voltage from PHCN or Gen from approx 170v - 275v to pass through to your loads. Also the transfer time in case of mains failure is shorter so that your sensitive equipment e.g computer does not reboot.

It is clear that these basic inverters offer scant protection to your equipment or loads at the voltage levels they allow to pass through - it is always best to install voltage protection at the input side of your inverter and set a threshold between 180v - 248v.

Just additional notes on the above and for those who want real world reviews of the Homaya 1.5KVA.

Sometimes the transfer is seamless, except for the inverter beeping I would never know they took light.

Sometimes, it is not seamless, because the LED TV will black out and come back on, the sound system may also turn off, and connected lighting may also go off, but since the computers are laptops, they never go off completely.

Speaking from my seven months or so of experience running this thing.

I truly look forward to experiencing the imperceptible transfer times of the high-end specs of inverters

Have you considered getting a Deye 8kw inverter.
Specs are much better than the XW and has features that are extra cost on the XW.

My brother, I used to see 18 or more hours of grid power.

But this year, things changed.

Alternative power supply is no longer a luxury but a necessity.

I don't want to talk about the fact that buying fuel in jerrycans at petrol stations is now considered a crime but buying the same fuel in jerrycans from black market suppliers on the street is legal activity.

I therefore had no choice but to make alternative power arrangements, and now that I have seen some spare cash, I better improve my alternative power generating capabilities.

Given the way the government and the power companies keep increasing the cost of power, I believe in the end, this project will pay for itself and reduce my dependence on outside sources for a key input for my production.

i will advice you discontinue any further use until you have the funds to purchase a replacement.
what you're toying with right now is a potential multiple damage to your electronics as well as a
fire hazard. i think the engineers who designed such a derelict product need to have their heads
