The fake wall rests on the floor.

I know there are blocks that are so strong they can hold weights, but not the usual Nigerian hollow blocks.

If possible get this from a reliable audiovisual shop. Not from the “We have it” Nigerian shops.

I’d share some of the pitfalls of using full motion mount on hen I’m able to get access to the files and the things I wished I did different on that installation.

But definitely, I won’t recommend a full motion mount for a curved TV.

At moment, I do not have access to the phone with the installation pictures.

I believe you’ll be fine with an L-shaped anchor bolt. But if I’m going to do this again, I’ll do a single baseplate with 8 mounting holes.

I am using a full motion mount hence the worry about the effects of the weight distribution from the pulls and tugs.

One thing I noticed, they keep mention finding studs, it doesn't seem that the way we build over here our buildings have studs.

Keeping it on a cabinet is fine, the attraction of keeping it on the wall is that it saves a lot of space.

I want to achieve the attached effect, but I know I am responsible for the reinforcement if I want to take the risk.

unfortunately it is also quite possible that staff within the companies can also be running scams. batteries do not show signs of physical wear and tear. and they have no serial numbers. so i can just swap out brand new batteries with used batteries and the customer will be none the wiser.

When I set up my system, the vendor took down the serial numbers of the batteries.
That is a major faux pas that there were no serial numbers.

I need to screed some parts of my build and I am confused on the process to apply. Someone recommended screeding with POP materials and another one said I should buy screeding paint . Please which of these is the best ?


Then , I noticed many people are now using window blinds in place of curtains these days. What are the advantages of window blinds over curtains?

All I know is that pop cement when it comes into contact with water deteriorates.

So I used ordinary cement for my wall screeding.

Lots of excellent posts on the issue on this site.

To do screeding, you need screeding paint, screeding cement, some form of glue and water. So the issue now is what is your source for the screeding paint, lots of local brands and even the paint majors make screeding paint too, I believe our resident paint maestro also makes screeding paint. What you go for is a matter of budget, taste and preference.

I did notice though that with the paint majors, they say their screeding paint is ready to go, once purchased, no need to mix anything.

But when I wanted to do my screeding for my chosen brand there was no pail in Abuja so I had to go ahead without them.

I contacted a factory, and they gave me pricing but told me I needed someone to interpret the documents they sent me.

I am mentioning this because Nigeria is a dumping ground, and some contractors will go for the cheapest material and not the best quality materials, and you will live with the consequences when they are long gone

But what are your thoughts about getting the Aluminum and glass from the factory yourself and engaging labor separately as opposed to engaging contractors to supply and install on your behalf?

I know someone who was invited to Government House, flight paid for, accomodation given at Government House Guest House for 2 weeks, but after all said and done didn't make up to 1 million from working on that short assignment.

This same guy was later given jobs worth hundreds of millions of Naira due to the relationships he fostered during that job that paid him in hundreds of thousands when when he was expecting a million or millions at most.

So manage small contracts well, cause you never know what doors contacts that give you small deals can open.

According to my research, I heard its better to buy a PSW inverter and a separate charge controller (mostly 60A).

Try to research into difference BTW Pure Sine wave and modified Sine wave inverter.

I'll be doing a DIY installation too.. sometime in June/ July but I've been researching ahead..

Pure Sine Wave anyday anytime especially if you will be running sensitive electronics

I stopped using inverters because I got tired of battery whackamole.

Too much quality variance.

I get the feeling everyone is just shaving the quality off batteries they sell.

And now we are moving to lithium where quality cutting is far more dangerous.

Off the cuff, You may get lucky if you get a schneider electric partner.

I use Schneider. I think they are pretty good.

Please which batteries did you have issues with?

I made inquiries and found out official distributors for the brand of battery in Nigeria I wanted to buy and paid for the same directly from the officially recognized resale channels.

You may use premium emulsion for the external and internal. They require no screeding.
You may use silk, satin or matte for internal with specialised primer with film coat thickness to allow for sandpaper.
You may also use matte with primer outside if you want a flat paint with a low sheen weather protected coat.
Matte and satin can be cleaned although silk more than satin and satin more than matte.
Silk is N40000
Satin: N35000
Matte: N27000
Premium emulsion: N15000
Workmanship depends on the size of the building.
Transport is N500 on a drum. It's ideally more than that but I add up the rest.
The full painting I handle which I forgot to mention is spray painting. I own the equipments and handle that fully.
Otherwise I just recommend painters.

Is it true that if a wall is screeded, it uses less paint?

Range plastering is best, cos it helps ensure wall edges, windows edges and door edges are straight even wall surfaces ain't left out... You'll get range plastering for that price quoted above.

You'll still have to do screeding before painting if you have the financial means as range plastering is not a determinate factor not to screed your wall... Screeding helps to ensure your wall has a smooth surface
