PropertiesRe: Simple Way To Determine Painting Charges. by FEGEITOK: 9:32am On Jul 12, 2022
gbadexy:
From experience and collation of painting charges, I've been able to narrow prices down to charge per bucket for uniformity and ease of negotiation.
Let's take for instance an unscreeded 2 bedroom flats that is charged average N25000 and requires 2 drums for ceiling, 2 drums for living room, dining and passage and 1 drum for the two rooms, that would mean N25000 for 5 drums of paint.
That's equivalent of N5000 per drum/ bucket.
Let's even break this further in still simple manner to put the pricing to test.
5 gallons make up a drum/ bucket. To paint a room, on an average, it would require 2 gallons for the ceiling, 3 gallons for the wall.
The average charge for painting a room is N5000. It's still at a regular rate of N5000 per drum.
For screeded wall, the same scenario as above applies except there is going to be sandpaper and dusting involved.
At average cost of N35000 for a screeded 2 bedroom flat using 5 drums of paints for the ceiling and walls, average charge per drum is N7000.
This rate could be helpful in negotiating labor charge based on total drums of paint used.

At Regal paint, we can charge the same rate for both screeded and unscreeded walls at N5000 per drum and make use of machine sandpaper and spraying.
This is very forward thinking.

I am sure a lot of clients will key into this level of predictability from you.

More grease to your elbow.

A lot of people with exposure to how things are done elsewhere viz a viz how it is done in Nigeria have raised this issue on the property thread, so why not make a post there referring them to this thread?

why not go for R350 and avoid the V8 and balloon shocks that come with R500. Those things fail easily.
Did anyone here substitute OEM with Arnott's aftermarket air suspension

Like someone mentioned, some R350 have air balloons.

According to the forum lots of people have substituted the OEM with aftermarket.

hello everyone,

I am stil trying to get my feet on this solar thing.. today i used a pv meter to check on a panel (africell rated as 300w) . I got a shocking 110w 22v, 4.89 amps.. I have four panel that was first connected by a friend and according to him it was done in parallel. I am using an epever mppt controller 100v 30a.. before now i couldnt generate more dan 280w from this four set of panels sad my setup is a 4.8kwh litium battery with a 24v 1.5kva scheinder (homaya) hybrid inverter.

Today i decided to connect 2 panel in series and parallel both strings together...

I was able to get 44 to 50v of peak hours with current raning from 5 to 9amps today...

My question is why the low output from this panels....
How are things now?

You may be misreading your inverter manual.

ECO mode does not take longer to discharge the battery - it is talking about the mains input AC voltage tolerance - in ECO mode your inverter will allow voltage from PHCN or Gen between approx 90 - 300v to pass through to your loads.

In UPS mode, your inverter will allow mains voltage from PHCN or Gen from approx 170v - 275v to pass through to your loads. Also the transfer time in case of mains failure is shorter so that your sensitive equipment e.g computer does not reboot.

It is clear that these basic inverters offer scant protection to your equipment or loads at the voltage levels they allow to pass through - it is always best to install voltage protection at the input side of your inverter and set a threshold between 180v - 248v.

From above 265v you should witness light bulbs going pop and circuits running hot/burning out, I also don't think motor windings like to be fed too high a voltage.
Thanks for this extra information.

I have been using this inverter for some 7 months and after this trial run, I want to get the Conext inverter which is superior I hope in protection as it is in load carrying capacity.

Please recommend voltage protection for me. Is it the stabilizer or is it a surge arrestor or both?

If yes, then appropriate capacity of each one if both or one or the other if just one of the two as well.

Thanks again.

What is the make and model of this inverter?.
No normal inverter outputs these above normal voltages, i wud even be wary of exposing my electronics to 265volts, not to talk of 290volts
I think these voltages are input voltages, not output.

You should use a dmm and measure the output of the inverter to be sure of these output voltages you posted
Homaya 1.5KVA

Maybe these are input voltages, but if they are input why tell me not to use computers and sensitive equipment on ECO mode

I will act on your advice and use a DMM to measure the output voltages and report back

what do you hope to achieve by thishuh/
inverter output is stable..avr iisnt needed, perhaps if you explain why u think u need an avr, then we can advice you better
My inverter has 2 modes ECO and UPS.

ECO Mains high cut 290V +/- 10V
ECO Mains high cut recovery 280V +/- 10V
ECO Mains low cut 100V +/- 10V
ECO Mains low cut recovery 110V +/- 10V

ECO takes longer to discharge but has a range that hits 290 Volts

UPS discharges faster but has a safer range of not more than 265 Volts

UPS Mains high cut 265V +/- 10V
UPS Mains high cut recovery 255V +/- 10V
UPS Mains low cut 180V +/- 10V
UPS Mains low cut recovery 190V +/- 10V

Says to use UPS mode to run computers/sensitive equipment.

Says not to use ECO mode to run computers.

I am running computers on the inverter, but I don't wish to fry them.

ECO mode is the default mode.

I want to take advantage of the ECO mode but limit the risk to my equipment.

Big question:

Should I run an AVR from the output of the inverter? So that my load is not directly connected to the inverter but indirectly connected to the inverter through the AVR?

Is this acceptable practice?

I eventually took my car away from those bastards, took it a rewire in IB who deals with Benz only around UCH, the guy solved all my problems in just a day, it happened that my SAM wasn't faulty at all as those idiots suggested. He changed some things under the front rug and my lights, wipers, horn, trafficators all came back to life.

I've been so happy, now I can enjoy my Mercedes in peace.

All I spent was we changed three of those things, each costing 23k, he charged me 5k for Workmanship, I no even price am, I was still thanking him.

Most of these big Autoshops are useless.

They could have gotten a new front SAM for 260k as they said and that wouldn't have solved my problems.

I'd have left there with over 500k debt, I didn't spend more than 74k at this Rewires place.

My fan also stopped blowing aggressively non stop, it now works very fine, picks up once AC is powered on and it's silent.

Just my learned opinion sha.

MODIFIED.

Let me provide more details.

It is not toks, it is Nigerian used.

It goes for 2m.

I need something respectable to move around till the end of the year when I will most definitely upgrade, but I don't want just an econobox but something that is thrilling to drive without spending a boatload of money.

I don't even mind flinging it for 1m by year end if it doesn't serve my purposes.

I can well afford a Sienna, but the businessman in me is telling me that I would rather use 10m to set up a 8.5KVA off-grid power generation plant comprising a hybrid inverter, solar panels and a bank of batteries, buy more computers and servers, pay for 5TB internet access for my team than dump 6 to 8m in a vehicle.

I was thinking of getting someone with a Star Diagnostic Scanner to do a comprehensive check on the vehicle and if it checks out, then I would take a plunge. I could even buy the Star Diagnostic Scanner if push comes to shove.

I am also thinking of going to Mercedes Benz for a printout of its maintenance history before I pay for it if the first check goes well.

That way I can multiply that 10m several times by year end and then I can conveniently get the Sienna even if it costs 10m by year end.

For my line of business, I have been hearing enough hues and cry that I my vehicle is beneath my status, so I am not expected to turn up in a Corolla.

I am drawn to the V8 engine, and the fact that the engine/transmission is said to be rock solid reliable unlike the R350.

That said, if it doesn't check out, I'll pick a Nigerian used Toyota Sienna 2011/2012+ that costs under 5m in its place.

Since you seem to understand Mercedes Benz cars so much, which one would you recommend?

Do the extra details provided make a difference to your position on the intended purchase?

The original post you initially quoted shows a Schneider Conext SW inverter which is not a hybrid inverter, that is, it does not contain an inbuilt solar charge controller so you cannot connect solar panels directly on it. If you are planning on purchasing this awesome inverter and plan on using it with solar panels, you should also purchase a separate solar charge controller to handle that part of the system.

I'm currently using random Chinese solar panels at the moment. Currently, it is performing grin

PALAPALA02:
Good day all.
I want to share with you all what the Lord did for me yesterday o.
While at phc on a business trip from calabar.
I arrived phc on sunday and decided to sit out with friends on Wednesday night. After dropping my friends at their house and heading to my hotel room with the aid of the google map, a truck was parked on the speedlane at attilary road at phc at about 2am without having backlights or even putting c-caution.
While trying to look at my phone to check where i was heading to and moving at about 100km/hr, as soon as i lifted my head up, a truck was parked at the speedlane with NO backlights and caution sign placed on the road. And that was how i rammed into the truck. But to the glory of God, i came out unscathed. No injury sustained at all. The police said i was wrong to have rammed into the truck from behind regardless of where it was parked or even if it was stationary. They said i ought to have been more careful.
Buh i thank God, i am alive, my car got destroyed, but I sustained no injury which is most important.
Brother if you want to live long, don't just thank God.

Thoroughly review why this happened and make sure never to make the same mistake in future.

If you don't have clear road ahead of you there is not point throttling the car forward.

The only way to determine if you have clear road ahead of you is with your eyes.

Taking your eyes of the road was wrong!

You can only take your eyes off the road if you have first ascertained that there is no object that can stop you in front of you.

Even then you need to keep glancing back at the road because conditions can change.

Better still you could have set your phone and turned on its turn-by-turn directions ahead of time.

Anyone can depress the accelerator of the car, but he who can drive well is he who knows when to stop depressing the accelerator and when to instead depress the brake and how much to depress the brakes to stop the car or combine breaking and steering and acceleration to avoid obstacles.

He who can successfully stop the car is the good driver, not he who can speed up the car (as in your case, you drove or sped the car into an obstacle).

Agreed the truck was wrongly parked. But it was your duty to spot the truck and stop before you hit the truck. You failed in that duty.

Giving this incident too much publicity might not really be in your interest, if the increased publicity results in your being found guilty of traffic violations which you have already admitted above.

Go see a doctor, you might have internal injuries, so until that is ruled out don't be too happy.

All the same, I thank God for your survival.

A while ago there was discussion about building a security house on the shared fence between your house and your neighbor's.

I think egunm.ogaji2's issue stems from his exposure that some of us might not have here.

In at least some parts of the US, you cannot build a structure close to the fence line shared with your neighbor.

Haven't studied all of Nigeria's building codes so I cannot speak to that, I just wanted to chip in that you need to understand someone's background to appreciate someone's point of view on issues.

Good idea but this is setting the cart before the horse.
They need constant electricity first. What is the point having CCTV if it’s not going to be functional. Not saying it cannot be done with alternative power sources but that is additional burden on homeowners, and might not even be sustainable.
I know a city in the US that has made it mandatory for certain business. They also require the owner to hand over the video recording Within 48-72 hours of request to authorities.
You are right.

100% Fact.
Especially with the level of high taxes on imported goods and time to arrive as well.

Ports settlements through clearing etc
Agreeing with you.

The only way to get it cheap is to buy it cheap overseas and then ship it in through the cheapest possible means.

I have done this several times, but this also means that you will not deal directly with customs.

it also means there will be some delays in clearing.

The one time that I tried to ship directly, item was in Nigeria in 3 days then customs slammed me with unspeakable charges, we had to go into serious negotiations to reduce the cost, it took almost a month.

Finally, I was offered a lower price to pay which was tens of times the cost I would have paid going through a third-party shipper.

Since then, it is a third-party shipper or nothing.

The is so much human intervention and opacity in the operations of customs clearing in Nigeria, don't be a victim.

I only do this when I compare the cost both ways and confirm I can despite everything get it cheaper importing or quality cannot be sacrificed.

My younger brother's media production studio was broken into a short while ago even though he installed CCTVs in specific areas, they wore face caps and sprayed the cameras.

They broke the fiber or is it copper door leading to his office which served as their entrance to the rest of the offices.

Came through the fence shared with a school, stole alot of stuffs (TVs, CPUs, Lens, Camera etc but left some in the next building (Too much to carry without being detected.)

They even stole flower vases grin

Why the long epistle?

Saw the copper door and got questions all over.

The door is said to be a security door but they broke and gained entrance through the locks.. How come?

I gave him some advices going forward but what extra security action should he take internally?

(He has entered agreement with some OPC guys in the area but I told him he needs to watch the watchers too).

How best can he secure his business?
Threats come from adversaries so you must account for intent, capability, and opportunity. The greater the combined intent and capability of an adversary, the greater the threat.

Security is layered. He got CCTV, was the CCTV monitored? If it was not monitored, does it have AI capabilities that can send alerts (emails, SMS and notifications to your mobile device) the moment it picks up a person or vehicle within certain strange times and automatically turn on the building wide alarm system?? Did he have an arrangement for law enforcement to storm the place in the event of an intrusion in an unholy hour? Did he have onsite physical security

Just thinking aloud.

Sorry for his loss.

Think like a thief to catch a thief.

One last comment on this issue of Chinese phones, I am sharing knowledge that has cost me a lot of time and $$$, I do DFIR consulting, I am paid in 7 figures to share the information I am sharing for free here.

I have actually had to address these issues, final solution was that the malware was baked into the OS, the owners of the phones were told to ditch the phones and buy new Non Chinese phones.

Why don't we have these complaints with the Lenovo line of laptops? Think about it.

I have included in this post examples of third party confirmation of my position on this matter
