Car Talk / Re: I Need A New Car by Femsyn(m): 7:00am On Aug 25, 2018
Mikkylounge:

I strongly disagree..Americans may have a better maintenance culture than Nigerians, but have you not noticed that we still spend thousands on (new tires, spark plugs, air filter, air conditioning service, new brake pads, at times, even new shocks, bushings, steering pump, fuel pump, etc) so called 'toks' cars before we really start enjoying them. This happens largely due to the fact that they stop servicing cars once they decide to sell them or the car may have been parked in a lot for a long while. Some of them even sell a car because the cost of changing tires and other serviceable parts may be high for them so they rather sell off the car and buy a/lease another one. If my budget for a car is low, i buy Nigerian used, and upgrade all abused parts with brand new parts, bought from the US thereby restoring the car to better than Toks form, and still save money cheesy. I've tried this and it hasn't failed me yet. Op, consider Nigerian used, pay Gazzuzz to inspect said car, buy and enjoy grin cool

You know I've always shared this sentiment, but people don't seem to understand my point of view.

This same thing came to bare recently. A colleague bought a car of over 1.7m, toks. This is after a thorough review, overview, checking of several cars (toks). You realise most cars are accidented, flooded. Right there at tin can, engines were opened and repaired, parts replaced and repainted. I wonder, what then is the fuzz about toks?

At the end, we found one that seemed OK. Never knew Tokunbo cars have wahala until this journey to Tin can and Berger Suya.

Do you know this colleague still spent over N200k on this car at least to bring it to a level of pristine?

Why not buy a professionally inspected Nigerian used car, and upgrade to taste. At least you will know what is being put inside.

At the end of the day, you realise, Toks is also a USED car! I have seen Nigerians maintain cars appropriately. Would I buy a Nigerian used car from Gazzuzz, for example, and say it won't be better than most Toks cars?

Celebrities / Re: Churchill Olakunle Hits Top 5 Outstanding Entrepreneurs In Nigeria by Femsyn(m): 9:54pm On Jul 31, 2018
While appreciating the man and his good works, something struck me, like a poster above asked. What does the Big Church group do? I mean, aside the philanthropic aspect of Mr Olakunle, which is all we hear about, whatelse? Just curious.

The OP above responded by editing his post to include ICT. Oh! Fantastic. So, I searched the keywords, but nothing came up, except the same old philanthropic gestures of Mr Olakunle.

Forgive my curiosity, anyone with the official website of BigChurch Group could post, I'd love to explore their pages.

Update:
Someone has been kind enough to provide some information, howbeit, with an unnecessary language. Checked out the twitter accounts and got the website which led me no where. The twitter accounts seemed not active, even though they still contained very few followers compared to the brand Mr Olakunle fronts.

Until part of our focus shifts to the legislature, little will be achieved with the continuous banter with the executive.

If the legislative members voted to represent constituencies have been utilising the funds allocated to them appropriately, the people will appreciate the govt more, cos they are closer to the people.

Whenever you see a politician or an average Nigerian fighting tooth and nail against a process or personality, it could be one of two reasons. One, it could be for a sincere reason, but most of the time, its usually for selfish gains, especially when they have been sidelined in some areas.

Family / Re: How Can This Issue Be Resolved? by Femsyn(m): 8:32am On May 07, 2018
Why should this even be a question? This is an allegation against your brother. Now because he is your elder brother, you may not get the truth if you ask him directly.

Now, I think the way to go is informing your parents. They should know the way and manner to go about it. But never keep this information to yourself. Whether its true or false.

Also, ensure this is done before the wedding.

As ridiculous as this request is, most answers on this thread are some of the reasons marriages breakup early these days. We make decisions without considering the future outcome. Its called lack of wisdom.

Acceptance of this gift can definitely cause issues in the future. Rejection is safer for the marriage. There are more issues to tackle in marriage than allowing an avoidable gift be an additional tool to destroy your marriage.

ebenholer:

Tithing is a form of giving. You can give the act of giving any name, but will still remain surrending portions of our earnings to God either in tithing form or offering form. Do not be confused my brother, giving in any form is one of the basis of our spirituality, Christ himself was given as a sacrificial lamb to wipe off the sins of world...John 3:16

You don't have the answer to my questions.

Shalom.
Religion / Re: "No Tithe, No Heaven" - Pastor Adeboye by Femsyn(m): 8:22pm On Apr 15, 2018
ebenholer:

Do not expect anyone to convince u on this, heart changing work can only be done by the holy spirit.
In Mark 12:41, Jesus and His observation of the widow's gift teaches us that there are no excuses for not giving either in form of offering or tithing.. We may say that our income is too small or that the church does not really need our money; but what a great deal of blessing would come to the Lord’’s work everywhere if we would first set aside that which belongs to Him –- which after all is His due! –- look up 2 Corinthians 8:5.

You see, I'm not against giving to the church, as I've explained earlier.

2Cor. 8:5
KJV:And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

Mark 12:41
KJV:And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

Absolutely nothing wrong giving to the church, even more than 10%. Please note that this clarification is on tithe payment as done in Mal 3:10 among the Israelites. Your references are basically on giving to the church, which I have absolutely nothing against.

You see I'm a Christian too, and give donations at free will, but do not impress a doctrine that is not of Christ on me.

I will appreciate if you must respond, please do it in accordance to tithing and not the general willful giving, which everyone, not just Christians should imbibe. So, we do not go back and forth without purpose.

I'm willing to learn here.
Religion / Re: "No Tithe, No Heaven" - Pastor Adeboye by Femsyn(m): 1:11pm On Apr 15, 2018
Ever since this tithe issue has been on, I've never commented, but I will do it once and for all, just for reference sake.

We are always quick to quote Malachi 3:10 to support tithing. I have nothing against people who tithe, because I feel giving 10percent of your earning to the church is based on your agreement and inspiration on the issue. However, what I have an issue with is saying its binding on all Christians to tithe.

Israelites paid tithes to Levi, who was chosen by God to collect them, due to his righteousness amongst other good traits. Are we Israelites? If yes, which among the 12 tribes are we and how do we recognise our own Levites, so we could pay to them. And of course the Levites must equally pay their own 10 percent to God directly, as its done in the past.

Tithes were paid in foodstuff, not in gold or silver, and if it must be converted, there are rules.

Matt. 23:23 pointed out by Jesus how even Pharisees paid tithes and how unimportant it is to the kingdom of God. Perhaps Christians need to leave Christianity and practice Judaism as its a religious doctrine.

Jacob paid tithe after he received blessings from God, and it was more like a vow between him and God at that instant. Not a monthly affair.

Abraham paid out of the spoils of war he fought for Sodom to Melchizedek.

In the new testament, Jesus referred to a number of the old laws, e.g. working on the Sabbath day, and he explained it, not cancel it. He referred to Isaiah, Jonah, Abraham etc. at some points, but I wonder why He never said anything about tithing, despite the importance attached to it today.

The problem with some Christians is that we're so bent on sentiments on this issue. The fact that its been a standing issue for a long time does not mean it can never be changed despite having the bible for reference. But its OK if its fine by anybody, but don't display your ignorance by saying its binding on all Christians.

It might interest you all to know that even today Jews in Israel don't pay tithes. Why? There are no temples or ordained Levites to pay to. The requirements to fulfil the "law", even as an Israelite is not available.

Unfortunately, no one has been able to convince me of the biblical relevance of tithing in today's church. It can be done voluntarily like any other vows or special offerings, which are still under the umbrella of "giving"

Family / Re: My Sister Is Infertile, And Her Hubby Threatens Her. by Femsyn(m): 11:18am On Apr 03, 2018
@topic,
It is clear the man doesnt care because he has two children already. Unfortunately for him, the fact that he has two children does not mean he cant develop fertility issues along the way, or perhaps, the children are not even his! My point is, the man needs to get himself tested too. We are so quick to put the blame on the woman. What your sister needs now is support, especially from her husband. There's little you can do.

Infertility does not necessarily mean the couple has been promiscuous in the past. What they need is to forge an alliance as one big family and attack what wants to destroy their home.

The husband needs to accept this challenge and i'm certain they will laugh in the end, like i did!
