If a national strike is ineffective in Rivers, Abuja and Lagos, then the strike is as good as dead. Ekiti, Enugu, Ondo Strike is inconsequential. Again, No strike in Abeokuta! ASUU strike is different from NLC strike. The fact that universities are closed doesn't mean NLC strike has been a success. Those that have witnessed a proper NLC strike will agree with me that this is just child's play, in fact, its nothing! |
Governors of the 36 states under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, have expressed their support for the decision of the Federal Government to increase the price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, from N86 to N145 per litre. It would be recalled that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, yesterday embarked on an indefinite strike, carrying out protests to force government to rescind its decision on the hike in pump price of petrol. But speaking at the end of a meeting of the NGF held inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun told State House correspondents that deregulation should be considered as “sacrifices that must be paid by all”. The governors’ meeting, which started at about 8.45pm on Wednesday, ended in the early hours of Thursday. While stating that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari means well just as the governors mean well for the country, Amosun said: “We supported it (increase in fuel pump price) because we believe that it is in the interest of the masses.” He said the belief was that only the rich benefit from fuel subsidy as against the masses, stating that the money saved from subsidy would be used to develop infrastructure. He added that the masses would be better for it in the long run. According to the Ogun governor, “These are sacrifices that must be paid by all. The President means well, the government means well, all of us mean well. http://dailypost.ng/2016/05/19/governors-back-increase-in-fuel-price-say-buhari-means-well/

Everywhere in Abeokuta is normal. No sign of strike; Just a demonstration by NLC yesterday. Today has been normal, so far. |
Timolanki:How was NEPA privatised Distribution is not the only arm of electricity provision, which unfortunately was d only arm privatised. Can you distribute what has not been generated?? Until the whole process is privatised, you can't say privatisation was a failure. Nigerians and their ignorance. |
I see this car everyday on Abiola Way, in front of a filling station. Seller is the real deal. Buy if you can. |
All these are oyinbo dreams jare! |
This is unbelievable! I can't believe people are already taking sides. More crazy is after watching Tiwa's video and still blame her, as though our minds are already made up irrespective of what she says. |
Dragging OAU and other public institutions in the mud with such terrible grammar. |
Oh Lord!!! Could this be pride or what You don't even know how to drive, yet you went alone to buy a Naija used ride. Even toks needs close evaluation, how much more a Naija-used car. Anyway, continue ur tori... |
nickxtra:It is not peculiar to NOUN alone. Most government universities have this problem. |
bossit:Its not unusual to have one or two missing documents on your profile. Mine was NYSC certificate. Since you chose Mphil, you'll be treated like any other MPhil applicant who is expected to have his/her Masters. |
bossit:It means you're expected to get admitted/apply for the Masters degree programme first, before proceeding for M.Phil |
bossit:I'm sorry, cos i really don't understand. Do you intend running an M Phil program without a prior Masters degree? Didn't you read the requirements for your course of choice ![]() |

Please, Department of Library, Archival and Information Studies, is the timetable out and has lectures started? |
Nice one Explorers |
OP, I have no problem with you getting married with that income, infact, for a city like Abeokuta, 100k is too much. But you must consider your would-be wife's preferences, just like everyone has said. However, I have a problem with the silly justification some peeps are giving to get married with a low income. Yes! You will survive with 50k, even Lagos; But my question is, what quality of life do u wish for yourself and family? Struggle, struggle and die? Or steal, lie and cut corners, due to your low income, so you could meet up?? One thing I've realised with low income earners with huge responsibilities like marriage + kids is that, they often augment with side illegal source of funds. All you hear is, "I was making 20k, 50k, 6k when I got married". Yes! You finally made it!, but how? I need to know, if you're sincere enough. The average Nigerian, especially in Lagos, is often constantly looking for ways to rip the other person off. Yet all you hear is, I earn 20k and I have kids and I survive. How?? |
if that happens, then it says a lot about the kinda relationship that exists between them. |
knarphie1:Its neither professional nor academic, but it tilts towards professional more. |
knarphie1:OK. Thanks. I've actually paid d acceptance fee. |
knarphie1:Library, Archival and Information Studies. So instead of MPCS, I now prefer MLIS. |
Is it possible to change programme now, same department?? |
mymzo48:Library, Archival and Information Studies |
tosak01:just got recommended |
Opposition will always look out for holes! In their heads, NOTHING will ever come out of this government. What if someone feels the same way about your existence? Give kudos first, then critic. What if the price of crude/barrel is even lower than it is, but govt still bamboozle you to see reasons why they should pay subsidy, what would you? At most, rant on nairaland and twitter, and go to sleep! |
Her reply "@lindaikeji: Lol. All these stories that I am engaged and getting married. Thanks for wishing me well. unfortunately, I'm still single &...searching! :-)" |
Here, applied for MCPS though, but an option in the same department. I say we just be patient. tosak01: |
THE DEDUCTION IS STRICTLY ON CURRENT ACCOUNTS AND NOT SAVINGS ACCOUNTS. IT'S SAD THAT THOSE WHO SHOULD ENLIGHTEN US ARE THE ONES CONFUSING US THE MORE. I'VE GOTTEN SEVERAL MAILS FROM MY BANK EXPLAINING THE NEW ORDER, AND IT CLEARLY STATES, "CURRENT ACCOUNT". EVEN SALARY CURRENT ACCOUNTS ARE EXEMPTED FROM DEDUCTIONS. JUDGING BY THE ABOVE, THE ANALYSIS MADE IN THE ARTICLE IS WRONG AND MISLEADING, SINCE MOST ACCOUNT HOLDERS OPERATE SAVINGS ACCOUNTS. |
Awesome development. Another way to block unnecessary leakages. |
johnson232:Pardon my ignorance and thanks for the enlightenment. |
I used to think the person behind "Nobody" was the owner of Nairaland, cos s/he is the only member without a profile. You can't click on the username. |
