ever since last Saturday rainfall which caused flooding around dat gwags and giri area, Gwagwalada has never been the same again, me sef I'm even afraid to board a vehicle to that place. may God protect us oo Amin!

My dear, we wey dey the Gwagwalada never die now. It was rumoured that every year, the river takes some lives. Much as I don’t want to subscribe to this superstition, it has proven true for the past fifteen years that I’ve been here.

I was on a bike directly behind this tipper on my way to Kuje road along the bridge. It was moving at a very slow speed, maximum of 30km/h. My bike wanted to overtake but I cautioned the rider that we’re on a bridge and he should thread carefully.
Suddenly, the tipper swerved off the road and I thought the driver would just redirect the vehicle to the road. Sadly he didn’t. I watched the tipper hit the barricade and plunge into the river. I wish I had supernatural powers and could pull it back. But I no get. Next thing I heard was the thudding sound of the tipper at the base of the river. My bike man was confused and almost lost control. God saved us and he was able to drive us safely to the end of the bridge.
I saw four men exit the tipper as it was not submerged completely. The first two men were drifted away by the tide of the river but the last two were able to hold on to the vehicle and climb to the top of the tipper. The two drifting men were waving for help that never came. Nobody was able to swim to rescue them. In less than a minute, the two men gradually drowned in the river while waving for succor. It was heart wrenching to say the least. Everything happened in less than 100 seconds.
On my way back two hours later, I saw the tipper being towed out and asked of the two guys that were submerged, nobody saw them.
Saddest thing I’ve ever witnessed in years.

It is quite a bad and a hard thing to be born in this country, a worse and harder case if you were born in a middle class family, worst and hardest if you were born in a poor family. Now, due to this pandemic the people that are in the middle class are fast becoming poor. So we are now left with the rich class, the poor class and the extremely poor class.

As it stands like this sef, there’s no middle ground. You’re either extremely rich or extremely poor.

I usually dream everyday and because of that, I don’t pay much cognizance to my dreams. I had two dreams recently that were more like a trance and it’s been pretty difficult to forget.
The first one, I was in a deserted compound and there was a gentle flood sweeping the place. It was also raining too so I could not go out of the compound. But there I was in the compound, alone and watching the flood passing by everywhere in the compound. The color of the flood was light pink. The sky was thick with rain clouds, suggesting that the rain was not going to stop anytime soon. I called on a friend to come and pick me with his car. On his way, he encountered some issues and almost turned back but he didn’t. He came to the compound and picked me and I woke up.

The second one was very recently. I lost my job last month and it’s been difficult for me. I am a single guy and I am not preparing for marriage. But in this dream, I was preparing for my cousin’s marriage ceremony. I was so involved in the preparation like I was the one getting married. But no, it was my cousin. The funny thing is that this my cousin has gotten married almost twenty years ago. She is with her husband and blessed with kids. I am not close to them even though we stay in the same state. I visit them maybe twice in a year.
