You don't have an economic plan for but you want to have Business and Investment Forum with leaders of a country that has has in place an economic and infrastructural plan for the next fifty years. It is pure waste of everybody's time. |
cocolacec:Why are politicians only good at stealing money masses but hardly give back good governance while the masses foolishly look away? Wetin concern churches? Tithes and offerings are willingly made by members. Well, they can step in to intervene but our corrupt politicians MUST be held accountable. So, instead of harassing churches, harass the politicians. Organize protest. Send strong message to them. |
Obviously, Renewed Hope Manifesto is an empty colorful document. But the question is, are the people around President Tinubu all bereft of creative ideas or is it that President Tinubu has simply refused to open his mind to new ideas to solve Nigeria's economic problems? What is happening, fellow Nigerians? May be President Tinubu should set up a think-tank to gather and synthesize short-term, medium-term and long-term solution ideas through Idea crowdsourcing. Nigeria is too blessed with egg-heads to sink pitifully on her knees. The sad reality at the moment is that the economy is crumbling and people are becoming restive. The funny reality is that many rich politicians and their families are packed and ready to take off if things worsen. |
Prof. Soludo won't be stupid to walk into a booby trap. |
sulaak:FGN and state governments struggle to pay salaries presently because less revenues are earned. Current national police is poorly equipped and remunerated. Now, how will state governments across the federation fund state police to function effectively in addition to existing recurrent expenditures and infrastructural development? |
Still SHALL and WILL statements 9 months post inauguration. Still talking about setting up committees? There is need to wake up. Time is running out. Create action plan to bring more lands under cultivation in safer parts of the country while the fight against bandits continues Create action plan to exploit the marine resources of Niger Delta. Create action plan to generate more employment opportunities. Roll out incentive packages to encourage existing enterprises and engender start-ups. Create action plan to boost non-oil exports. Why has Dele Alake gone quiet all of a sudden with sold minerals exploration? There is no other short cut. No f**king short cut |
The priority now should be our collapsing economy. If Nigeria continues to earn less forex with increased unemployment and scarcity of food, state police will be effort in futility because crime rate will surge. Greatest security is food security. First thing first. Develop plan to fix our economy and start implementing ASAP. Thank you. |
Seems everyone is feeling the heat. May be our brain will be reset after all. On more serious note, if you know how Nigeria works, this distress by Sultan may sound harmless but it is pregnant. The stunning thing is that President Tinubu and his team seem helpless so far. |

Presidency, governors, useless Onanuga etc. All of you getat! |
Enjoying your Val at 10.05 on a Wednesday morning I know it is your life, but how about doing something productive to make some money early in the day and then coming back in the evening to enjoy your Val. |
Seconded! |
I am afraid for Nigeria. If nothing is not done urgently to revive the economy, something will eventually give. I hope it won't be disastrous. |
Sad commentary about a country so blessed with natural resources but led by selfish and corrupt leaders. |
Removing petrol subsidy suddenly on the day of his inauguration without planning for the consequences of such massive policy change? Floating Naira without adequate plan to contain the effects of such tricky policy change especially given our criminally poor forex earning capacity? Being couple of months away from one year in office but still hasn't have a clear comprehensive plan to revive the economy? Is the once flaunted Renewed Hope Manifesto an empty beautiful document? Ebi npa wa! |
In his address at a well-attended public hearing, the apex bank boss attributed hyper inflation to organic food shortages but added that the government was addressing the menace through fiscal policies which may take time to work out. You can't address the problem of food shortages through fiscal means. You counter food shortages by producing more food. FG must devise ways to facilitate production of more food by applying innovation in protecting farmers and their farms as well as bringing more lands under cultivation in the coming farming season. By the way the CBN Governor's speech is all over the place. Said so much without saying anything that looks like a solution to current economic crisis. We need a holistic economic plan while the current adhoc measures are implemented. The current security situation existed even the election and so Pres. Tinubu knew fixing security was key. So how come you believe that a meeting with governors today and a mere resolutions to set up over-flogged state police will fix security to enable the revival of the economy. The critical issue is that there need to be a thought-out and written holistic economic plan. |
APCNig:Not being flattered by NFF president who would, at the slightest interference, assert his independence of FGN and his being answerable to FIFA. Our unnecessary and sometimes hypocritical worship of our leaders are more often than not a big distraction that dilutes their focus. |
Bluntemperor:Pres. Tinubu did it because it is what should be done to protect and promote image of Nigeria. Not because he was a*rse-licked by NFF president who would, at the slightest interference, assert his independence of FGN and his being answerable only to FIFA. Our unnecessary and sometimes hypocritical worship of our leaders are more often than not a big distraction that dilutes their focus. |

I hate this Kind of praise-singing that inflate African leaders' ego and mislead them. The fact is, first, that the players are playing to win continental trophy to boost their records as well as enhance their career especially for younger ones. And, second, to make Nigerians happy. Other things are mere cosmetic. |
Managing the economy is more than fiscal and monetary manipulations. The key thing is productive economic activities. - President Tinubu, please come back home sir. Nigeria needs a new economic foundation. - Convoke a something like 'National Economic Conference' to develop a nationwide roadmap that will tap the economic potentials of geopolitical zones - Set up a versatile economic think-tank and keep an open mind to their ideas. Look beyond Wale Edun and work with some crazy young minds to create out-of-box ideas for policies and programs. - Develop short and long-term Economic and Development Plans and actively Implement it. - Be positively strong-willed and don't sacrifice crucial things that MUST be done today for tomorrow's 2nd term. Nigerians will always appreciate positive results. - Stimulate production in different aspects of the economy through incentives, make vital reforms of laws and processes, enthrone intentional concessions, etc. - Move focus and relocate effort from attracting FDIs to encourage local industries, SMEs and entrepreneurs. - Create more employments, boost local food production develop creative export drive strategies to earn forex. |
Ok |
He used social media to show off ill-gotten wealth, expose his criminal activities and put himself in jail. Instead of lying low. He is still using the same social media to show off food in prison that most free Nigerians can't afford and now he is about to have stricter routine. Serves him right. Dude has always been a fat head. |
Well... |
Wonderful tips. |
It is not looking good for Nigeria and Nigerians at the moment. It is rough and scary. |
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is simply making sure his business empire is preserved by putting specific offspring in charge of specific enterprise under Slok Group instead of following typical Igbo Dad mentality of handing over Slok Group entirely to his first son Michael Uzor Kalu. Dude spent 8 years of Governor of Abia State and nearly crumbled the state and then handed over to another incompetent crony who further the mismanaged state for another 8 years. But here we are, he wants his empire to last and not crumble. Not good! Well... what do I know. |
