In reality, Le Gris never accepted the allegation even in death and it is said(though unverifiable) a felon on his death bed later admitted to the crime.
Marguerite's accusations were played down then by the church and political class and she refused to back down knowing all the things at stake..
I tphink Ridley shouldn't have shown the scene pbetween Marguerite and Le Gris, he should have left it up to the viewers to decide and make their own conclusions..

My Experience

I am pretty, well kept and groomed and at an age where although I may not be a spring chick, I am still young enough to attract attention from guys in their early 20s who have no qualms about toasting their elder sister's age mates.
