Jeez!!!! I only read the first post n started typin my comment o, & since i'm usin a fone, didnt get to properly look at the other comments first. Just assumed the thread was about foods we don't like generally. Apologies. I don't don't like beans |
Food › Re: I Don't Like Beans by FindOut(m): 10:21am On Jul 27, 2012 |
ogugua88: Yes. Confession time. I'm Nigerian and I don't like beans. Bean pottage is gross. Imagine the horror of being at work all day, starving, and before you even step into the house, you smell beans. Hell truly is here on earth
Texture? I don't like. Smell? Mbanu. Taste? Tufia.
Even if it's with rice, I'll manage only three beans to a mound of delicious white rice and stew.
The way beans spoil bread. Soft, delectable-looking bread, slathered with beans. No, not with butter or jam, but with gas pellets. Wetin dey do una?
Beans are perseverent. They never lose in the digestion battle. You eat beans, smiling, laughing, jollifying because you think you don chop well. 30 minutes later e dey remind you e go always have the last laugh. I no fit o.
And why oh why do people eat beans and drink garri? NA SIN O! Garri is my best food, particularly garri ijebu. I have always proclaimed that garri is the only way the human race can attain world peace. Imagine a beautiful bowl of glimmering, milky, garri next to a tattered plate of beans. For what? The only comparison is standing Bianca Ojukwu next to Mr Ibu. It's an abomination in my book.
Thank goodness there are other high-proteinous foods available. If beans were the only protein sources around, Ogugua88 would be very protein-deficient.
I know I can't be the only one that doesn't like beans. Maybe, due to fear of persecution, some have remained silent. Well, today let us be fearless and vocal. Tell us why you don't like beans!
By the way, in my world, beans does not include moin-moin NGO - Movement for the Recognition of Beans Haters (MRBH) Founder - Ogugua88 Kai, with your last paragraph, you be real 419, wayo to the core. Lol. Beans farmers must sue you o. No more moin moin for you after casting such heavy aspersions on its main raw material. That said, one man's food is truly another man's poison sha, coz all those combinations you mentioned are quite delicious & tasty to several people including me I dont really crave beans though, except when i've not had it for a looooong time, & even then, after enjoying it thoroughly like 2 - 3 times in d space of like a week, i go on my long break again.lol Foods i just totally dislike are: 1) Ikokore ( native dish - water yam porridge), I just no like that food, except its heavily laden with meat strips n fish & a very tasty stew is poured on top of it to mask that original taste. In its simple form tho, no thank you. 2) Boiled UNRIPE plantain: ''its very rich in iron'', yeah i don hear. Why una no fit wait make the thing ripe, yellow, sweet well well. My ibo friends will tell me to try with abacha or smthn, no thank you. I'll try the RIPE one with the abacha instead. 3) Garden egg: its a vegetable/fruit = food na, abi? Me no like that thing. How do people eat it n say its sweet But then whats funny is that the last time i tried to eat it was like 10, 12 yrs ago, havnt tried it since then to see if i'll njoy it now. No need jor. Lol 4) Pear : that purple one sold with roasted corn, irritating, slimy looking on the inside, i no chop. Haven't tried eating that too in the last 8 yrs. Holding on to my initial inhibitions.lol |

Please dont bring the nairaland insultive mentality into this thread. Save it for other sections. Must you resort to insults to make a point? & who told you the poster you quoted hasnt been denied before? Even the person you r defending has come out to say he's not hurting. To be frank, i too was of the opinion that Deevick was rude to Imperiouxx initially, but apparently, he doesnt think so, & matters have been settled. You dont have to come here to start fanning embers of hatred. God doesnt like that & its irritating to our sensibilities as well.
If you'll post a rejoinder to this post, I appeal to you to keep it clear of insults directed at my person or anyone else, but should you choose to ignore this appeal, be rest assured i'll ignore your comment as well.
Let us keep things clean here & get back to useful & important discussions as they relate to this thread's title.
@Ferdii, please do not reply the insults. Thanks |

ayox2003: You slayed it. Some guys also behave childishly to them ladies that's why they go for older men. Anyways, it all boils down to attitude and value system. If the OP's girl has the right attitude and a value system that is within the OP's frame of referencen then no wahala.
Frawzey. lol. Its true. So many guys i too wouldnt date if i were a girl. it really all boils down to the type of girl, the type of guy, what they want from each other, & what they are willing to give in exchange. Some guys want ''babies'' as wives, some girls want ''fathers'' as husbands. Some want fathers/brothers/babies/buddies as husbands, same as applies for guys too. Compatibility is key, no unnecessary manage manage. If you can deal with it, carry on, if you cant, pull out & look for what suits you. |

acidtalk: *coughs and then sip a glass of water*
18months to settle down you say? Now let's set your priorities straight and that of the lady in question.
The average Nigerian familt wants their daughter to get married after her first degree. The only two exceptions in this case are; The lady gets pregnant and her people are ashamed of her giving birth to the baby in their home or she is from an almost below average home (poor family background) as such they want her to go so that they can feed (minus one mouth) less mouth.
Secondaly most girls in this age bracket are not in anyway desperate to get married. They still see themselves as beauty queens because they sometimes get as much as 5-10 toasters everyday because of their youthful nature. This will make them assume they will remain 'hot cake' for ever and think there will always be that suitor waiting to get married to them whenever they are ready.
Except for few families which still nuture their female children, its almost common for most ladies within that age range to learn basic home chores in their boyfriend's place.
Though not in all cases, but if you are one who cares a lot about financial management and knowledge, most young ladies in that age bracket might not fit in. The want to get the latest phone, gadget, hand bag and fashion accessories to meet up with their peers. If you are not one of those guys that spend frivolously on a lady when it isn't relevant, she might term you stingy as won't consider settling down with you because she rarely knows what is the difference between necessity and wants.
Above all Intelligence, if you are a serous minded and fast thinker, it might be an hill task finding a lady that will match your intelligence. I am not talking of knowing latest music, movie or celebrity gist. I am talking of beneficial reasoning.
If you don't mind the above, then you can stick with them and groom them with patience. Otherwise maybe you should stick with the law of nature that "the older the wine, the better it taste". U've said it all!!! Especially the ''stingy'' & reasoning part. You are earning 250k a month, ur girl no wan kno o, she sha want make u buy am bold 5 by force. She'll refuse to understand that you have to save for your rent/a bigger apartment, save for ur marriage, pay for professional exams, save for the unforseen, save for a car & still spend money to run your home. Intelligence- you come home from work, you have an issue that came up at work with a co-worker/boss & you want to discuss with sme1, get a 2nd view or possible solution which is a product of detailed analysis, ur gf happens to come around, you start presenting your situation, havnt gotten to half only for her to say something like ''all these your work gist is boring jor. Lets see what's happening on E! & guess what happened on twitter btwn me & my friends, we were gisting about one mumu girl like that............'' That said, there r a indeed a couple of exceptions. I'm nowhere near late 20s, still approaching mid 20s, but there are some girls within my age range i just CANNOT date. I place a high premium on intelligence (note: intelligence not brilliance, even tho many tyms, both go together) & i can't imagine dating someone i can't have a serious insightful intelligent conversation with from time to time. I'm not the king of intelligence, but abeg, if u no fit improve my own, no worsen am with your dullness(in the name of being ''fly'').lol |

TroGunn: Responding to the bolded part, Primary BH target are churches and FG Security Personnel. Not that hard to see a community/region with a history of religious intolerance and/or opposed to the current FG backing BH. My brother, I havnt been to the north, but ask those who live there. Bokoharam came to limelight when they started bombing churches. That was when they caught our attention, but not when they started mayhem. These guys had been killing people, muslim preachers included, wreaking havoc, attacking govt buildings, e.t.c. before the bombings started. & funny enuf, all these started under late Umaru Yar'adua, a muslim northern president, who if you recall, ordered the millitary/police action which led to the death of their leader in 2009. |

VERY silly excuse in my opinion, shouldnt be coming from an organisation like the SSS. This kind of excuse may be tolerated from Civil defence, but not the police & definitely not the SSS. I doubt if the Nigerian Army can come out to say such.
A terror group like bokoharam will definitely have struck fear into the hearts of their ''host'' community, and its quite understandable that they'll be unwilling to give information to the authorities going by what bokoharam has been known to do to persons (& their families) who are alleged to have betrayed them. The SSS cannot expect to walk into a community & the people will start pointing fingers that yes''he is part of them'', ''that is their house''. Nah, it cant happen that way, especially whenthere's no guarantee of their lives n properties.
SSS said the group send ''intermediaries'' or is it ''representatives''. Are they not supposed to hunt down openly & secretly, these intermediaries, track them down to where the main culprits are hiding? Track phone calls, use satellite imaging & other technologies they can CONVENIENTLY afford (going by the trillion naira defence budget)?
Not saying the communities cant be more helpful, but SSS should be employing strategies that do not necessarily have to do with relying principally on info from these villagers.
Anyway, its now a normal thing in this country to be giving silly excuses for inefficiency, excuses that play on the sentiments of the people. Now, people will start saying ''yes, the govt is trying, but bokoharam has plenty supporters who are shielding & protecting them''. 'Supporters' who live in terror of this group everyday, who are hoping their country's security agencies will deliver them. I dont blame the SSS though, the person who's supposed to call them to order is also guilty of this same practice, so, SSS, ride on.
September no too far, we go see as una take spend una budget.
it still beats me how people can be ''shielding'' those who throw bombs at, kill and maim them at will. |

Pukkah: The standards in Nigeria have fallen so badly to the extent that the quality of mercenaries and paid government agents is embarrassingly low. It is worrisome that such an awkward and inelegant group is the one that has been recruited to pour encomiums on the government. Generally speaking, the group lacks tact, style, and panache.
Rather than adopt the honourable way of defending their principal, master, and patron - President Jonathan, either by refuting the misconceptions about him (with facts) and/or regaling us with his achievements; these unthinking apologists and robotic minions resort to mudslinging, character assassination and outright lies. Whenever they are beaten at their game of shenanigans, they simply change their dirty antics by going for red herring and other diversionary tactics. In their folly, they totally forget that their master and patron is an elected official and so is and should not be immune from criticisms.
Curiously, there are several of these permanently-biased posters in circulation - no thanks to the battered economy which has produced millions of under-employed, unemployed and unemployable youths. For most of them, now popularly and derisively tagged ’40 laptop group’, their posts on this forum stand out in their unparalleled idiocy, unbridled partisanship, and unprecedented sycophancy. Again, for this group, their posts reek of all sorts of errors, which make you conclude that their recruitment process must have been as arbitrary and handled in the same manner in which their principal is running the country. This kind of development is not good for our country and it is a sad commentary on the general state of affairs which, ironically, they are stupidly defending.
One of them did have the misfortune to come across me days ago on this thread https://www.nairaland.com/994976/reps-threaten-impeach-president-goodluck/4#11531344. Faced with obvious defeat after intense walloping, he abandoned the thread and fled with his tail between his legs. This type of fleeing or volte face, after a woeful performance, is unflattering for a supposed mercenary. Such a person is too shallow, lily-livered, and unintelligent to engage unpaid, genuinely-concerned, and passion-driven citizens.
My word to this group, and their leader, is that they should up their game and conduct themselves in a respectable manner. We need intelligent and hard-hitting people as government spokespersons and not oafs, knuckleheads and common party hooligans. We need eggheads that can sift the constructive criticisms out of the millions against the Mr President and pass them on for possible review and implementation for the benefit of our country; and not unthinking robots who see the President as incapable of doing any wrong. We do not need jesters and thugs who only excel at hurling insults and readily manifest their ill-breeding whenever they are intellectually challenged or defeated.
Should they choose not to carry out their ‘jobs’ respectably or in a honest manner, they should realize that every action of man shall be repaid and rewarded. Those who sow the wind shall always reap the whirlwind. Oro nla!!! This House of RAP sef! Is not the same House of RAP that was calling on the President to reverse to N65 a litre for PMS but rejected a call to probe the subsidy scam? And when they were boxed into a corner to do the probe, went behind to chop money?
The way I see it, Jonathan no allow them chop money.
For those of you clapping for this House of RAP, I really wish they can state a genuine reason for the impeachment threat rather than budget "implementation". Una no dey think? "Budget implementation simply means Presido never release money give them as they want".
I would have been satisfied that Joanthan was indicted in the subsidy scam.

Siena: Exactly. There's nothing wrong with 2-door cars, it's either for you, or it's not. In the UK, lots of younger drivers without families prefer 2-door cars, they look sportier. And cost new is the same as 4-door, as both are aimed at different markets. Older drivers with families also tend to run 2-door models as second cars, in addition to regular family sedan / wagon / SUV. Ehn, is this Siena posting July 22? Yesterday? *singing ''pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop something....* Gud to have you back sir. @Topic, me i just dislike those cars. That idea of having the front seat tilted over coz someone wants to get to the back? No no no. Tho well, i could use one as a second car, for weekend solo flexing driving.lol. But even then, i would probably have fallen seriously in love with that car enuf to buy it (& that also means the 4 door version is unavailable then.lol.) |
