-BREAKING NEWS: Shehu of Borno, D/Gov escape death as suicide bomber kills 10:

The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi
and the state's deputy governor had a close shave with death today as a suicide bomber detonated his bomb just meters from where both were.

The incident happened around 2:15pm, immediately after Friday prayers at the mosque in front of the Shehu's palace. Witnesses said a youth of about the age of 15 was noticed walking towards the two dignitaries.

However, the suspicious manner in which he was approaching them immediately drew the attention of the security men guarding the Shehu who quickly tried to shield him. In the process, the bomb went off, killing at least 10 other people in the vicinity and critically wounding two of the soldiers.

JTF spokesman in the state, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa confirmed the incident but said only 5 people were killed and 6 others, including the two soldiers, wounded by the blast.

The area around the Shehu's palace has been cordoned off and more soldiers have been deployed to the scene.

-Gunmen Fire At Card Players In Kano, Killing Three On Ramadan Eve

A few hours to the commencement of the Muslim Ramadan fasting, two gunmen riding on a motorbike shot and killed three people playing cards in Kano. A fourth person sustained serious injuries and has been rushed to the hospital.
Also, a constabulary police officer narrowly escaped death but sustained gunshot wounds and has also been taken to an unknown hospital, soaked in blood.
The men opened fire around public square known as ‘Kwanan Freedom radio’ in Sharada area of Kano city into a group of card players.
The Kano State police command spokesperson has officially confirmed the killings, while a security operative in the area said several residents have gone into hiding to avoid falling victim of the crossfire that ensures after such the attacks.
No group has claimed responsibility of the attack.

Or you think the attacks on mosques are under-reported? By the way, do you have a breakdown of where and who were killed in the deluge of the ruthless attacks on Kano? What of the several neighbourhood gun fights?

The problem of Boko Haram is getting complex by the day.

I think the pre-occupation of the people should not be to hair-split and analyze which 'side' is suffering more casualties but to focus on how to uproot the menace of Boko Haram, even if it means asking the fundamental question of whether the country should remain as one.

teminoni: There have been reported threats on mosques, including shootings and bombings, but I have not heard of any casualties what so ever. The muslim worshipers are always saved by one mysterious obstacle or 'premature' explosion before getting to the mosque.

What I'm trying to say is churches are attacked and there are dead worshipers. Mosques are attacked but there is never a single dead worshiper.

I think this is just a tactic by boko haram to make us think mosques are being attacked by christians so they have the right to attack more churches. Or they are trying to cause confusion and thus, a religious war.
