Ok well you know that I was speaking in terms of islam in the west, not the east.

I have some muslim friends. They seem ok. Haven't tried to convert me or kill me, or even threatened that type of behaviour. They've stated to me categorically that muslims in the east gives muslims in the west a bad name.

I really can't speak to your experience, but I'm not going to turn to hatred as an answer. I don't even know that there is an answer.

mistake you make about Islam. it's very political. very very. look at how Pakistan was carved out of India by Muslims? you can't survive with them. they are cool when as minority but pray they dont get near 50% then you'll know the true force of their intention.

there's a thin line between moderation and radicalism. the west will surely suffer for allowing "freedom" because those people have capitalized on that as a tool. wonder why they scream freedom in west but ban Christians from entering Medina and mecca?

Religion can be useful for control, but I didn't say it was right.

People had religion in the stone ages - not as we know it today, but religion nonetheless.

It's just a way of explaining things that people don't understand. Then it evolved into a method of control. Then it evolved again - in the weat at least. People started to think that maybe it wasn't right to mistreat the weak, that maybe God forgives and loves, that maybe it was up to God to judge alone... yknow, how it says in the bible. Religion in the west is now a means to personal fulfillment.

I don't really like psychology. "Evidence" is very limited, very biased and gets debunked almost as soon as it is published. There is far too much variation in society and culture to be able to attribute any real meaning to any grand psychological claims. Freud was a giant douche and I can't actually think of any renowned psychologist I respect.

Philosophy is different. It's interesting and abstract.

Psychiatry is the hard stuff. Evidence. Medicine. Brain things. I love it.

Picture this : in a Christian community, atheist ve some say, but in a Muslim ummah decapitation, i think last year a kid was beheaded for listening to western music... Are u getting the drift.

For me CHRIST is my source.... And if anyone who follows him do otherwise, i wont be moved.
But for Islam the source mohamed ..is what we are seeing today.

These are very extreme examples of islam in practise. Look at the witch hunts in the USA - Christians did similarly awful things.

But I can't speak for anyone else's experience.

Islam exists in the west relatively easily. Any terrorist behaviours are primarily incited in the east. Those who label musilms as terrorists are seen as bigots. The different religions pretty much coexist peacefully and I think that has a lot to do with quality of life and secualr governing bodies.

I think rather than eradicating islam, maybe increase the general quality of life and remove the power religion holds over government. Reason will always prevail, unfortunately, it prevails over time and a lot of people suffer in the interim.

I don't doubt Mohammad was an @$$, but I'm sure Jesus did a lot of crappy stuff too. The bible as we know it is heavily censored - so all we really have is faith and goodwill.

have you been to religion section. you'd see lots of atheists. though I believe in the God concept but differently.

Organised religion can be and is a method of societal control, but in the west it's been allowed to evolve into a more personalised approach to help individuals rather than control the unwashed masses.

I've been looking at the religion section. Bigotry amazes me. I'm not an atheist, but I value their wager over Pascal's.

It depends what you define as intelligence.

I'm talking intelligence as in a combination of intellectual traits, not intelligence: n/ information.

He explores many of the ideas you are grappling with now. The idea of God has been long debated in western philosophy, and there are many good texts on the subject.

No one has the answers. But they all have ideas.

The good thing about ideas is that they change and evolve. So your understanding of God can change and evolve too.

The aim of government here is to provide structure and also protect those in need. The idea of poke nosing may be misguided but a lot of it's done in an attempt to protect the people you villify (as well as oil and all that rubbish).

Things are more complex and multilayered than you can fathom.

If you don't like that, no one is forcing it on you. Live that way. I find it my personal moral responsibility to assist the disenfranchised. To fight for equality of oppprtunity for people less fortunate than I am. It's hard and not popular, buy I do because it would be lazy and selfish of me to throw my hands up and say "oh well, it doesn't affect me, it can't ever change, so I won't even try".

You get angry about the west poke nosing, but you're more than happy to do that to individuals in your own country all the time.

Don't blame me as an individual for the decades-old actions of the US government. That place is just as bad as Africa in my view. I never claimed that western life is perfect, but it's certainly a lot freer than eastern life. And I have a lot of freedoms you may not have that I thank God for every day.

Atheism believes God is held under the umbrella of the supernatural. Atheists have no belief in anything which claims supernatural power auch as God, Jesus, witches, wizards, vampires, ghosts etc.

Herbalists... different story. Herbal remedies have been used for centuries to varying degrees of success. Some have been scientifically proven to be medically effective.

For an atheist to "believe" or "have faith" is a stretch. Show it to them in a published paper and they will believe it.

Example: prayer/meditation has been proved medically advantageous. Lots of people pray and meditate lots of different Gods and ideals of God in different ways. To atheists, this doesn't prove all those Gods exist, just that prayer/meditation as an action can be useful.
