Owliver:Raising and supporting, not breastfeeding. And males can lactate, not that I'm going to enter that with you. I'm not saying they *should*. You don't believe in equality, fine. If you're happy with your regressive life, fine. But on an international stage, you are the one who looks foolish. I don't know why you're so intent on proving me wrong at every turn. |
Owliver:Maybe you should practise what you preach. Media does not represent reality. Nor does the US/UK represent the rest of the world. If you think the west is evil, that's fine. But you accept many western things like medicine, for example, which has been proven through scientific research. Pick and choose as is your right, but don't demonise those that have worked hard and given significant portions of their life to ensure the welfare of people they've never met. People should be able to live as they please, so long as they do not harm another person. That is my main point - do not harm. And for the record, partnership may have served the purpose of procreation in the past but it does not anymore. The world is overpopulated enough. Some straight couples choose not to procreate. Some can't. Are you saying infertile straight people should have their heads cut off too? Life isn't as black and white as you would like to believe. There are plenty of reasons gay people adopt and should be allowed to. There are plenty of reasons straight people don't have children. Homosexuality does not affect you or anyone else who isn't gay. So there's no excuse to be prying into others' lives. Gay is not error, it is genetic variation - like eye colour, skin colour and blood type. You sound like Hitler. Enjoy your regressive life, people. I will continue to thank God I wasn't born into a place life Africa or the middle east. It's like the middle ages. |
Blackfire:Come on people. Religious terrorism has existed for centuries - look at the Christians. They're history isn't exactly perfect. Islam is just the same, but due to advances in technology and globalisation the threat is larger. Religion of any sort is not the problem. Extremism is. When any person thinks their beliefs are better or more righteous than anyone else's and seek to assert that over another person, problems start. It happens in religion, atheism and any other "ism" you know about. Even veganism. We should make our own choices and respect others choices. We don't have to like everything that other people do. Just respect it and not let our emotions get the better of us. Love, not hate. |
MIKOLOWISKA:Agreed. So, male or female, if you don't want kids don't have sex. |
Owliver:"Crazy science research" is funded by many different bodies. Maybeif Africa were any kind of global economic or scientific power, then you'd have more knowledge on the process. Go read about it. Homosexuality: between two *consenting* adults. Marriage between dog and human: dog does not consent. Animal cruelty. Human is punished. There are many people born to certain traits. Not all psychopaths commit murder. However, acts are punishable if they harm another person. So even if you are a diagnosed psychopath, born to that, then you have hurt someone. So getting tattoos, entering into a consenting relationship - not punishable. Harming someone else through murder, robbery etc. is punishable. When prosecuting a crime, many factors are given consideration in order to assign an appropriate punishment - at least in the western world. There are many nuances of law and exception which is why a trial can take place. So the murdering psychopath is given punishment and mental health care, and an attempt to rehabilitate the psychopath is made to different levels of success. If you are raped by someone of the same gender it is punishable. However, when two people enter a relationship or have sex it has nothing to do with you. They didn't hurt you, maybe just would offend your own sense of morals if you found out. How does homosexuality impact your life? It doesn't. Homosexuality also isn't an ideology - otherwise it wouldn't occur in nature so frequently. If anyone could choose their sexuality, no one would choose the level of persecution and hatred gay people suffer. Everyone has a different moral compass. In the west, it is an ideal that you are FREE to live your life as long as you don't hurt anyone. It doesn't always work, but quality of life is far higher here than it is in Africa. Religious freedom is one of those things. There is still a very powerful religious presence in the west. However it is recognised that religion should not dictate law because everyone picks and chooses what they like in the bible, and everyone interprets it differently. I guess your perverse religious dedication and moral outrage at everything you don't understand is what makes your continent such an overhwleming world power, respected by so many... |
Owliver:Reponsibility to prevent pregnancy is equal between genders. Responsibility for carrying the pregnancy is the female's - obviously. Responsibility for raising and supporting the child *should* be equal between mother and father. |
demzylahot:It's a supply and demand situation. If you are spilling a lot (increasing demand), then more sper.m are produced (increasing supply) because your body will compensate for those that are frequently expelled. If you don't spill frequently, your body will decrease production as there is no demand. |
You're awesome ![]() |
thorpido:If abortion were more readily available then there would be fewer single mothers who are unable to find a job because they had to leave school and their family won't help them. The child suffers too because of the lack of money - who knows what kind of horrible things they will go through with no father and no income. It's better to get an abortion than ruin two people's lives. |
thorpido:Why? Why does the woman have greater responsibility? Just because she carries the pregnancy? The man played half the part in getting her pregnant. The responsibility should be shared equally. |
passionate88:Believe what you want to believe, but it doesn't change the facts. Always be careful to use condoms correctly and have a backup method of contraception just in case the condom breaks. |
It's just a numbers game. Everyone you're interested in may not be interested in dating you. You're doing the right thing, you just gotta keep trying and eventually you'll find someone who appreciates you. It's not about how fast uou move it's about how much you like each other. Having said that, don't be angry with these girls. People aren't vending machines - you don't put in some kindness and get sex in return. You were in the friendzone to begin with. If they don't want to date you, you're still in the friendzone. No loss. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. |
Xiadnat:I agree. Your brother is putting you in a difficult situation and it is unfair to all of you. He needs to show some maturity and responsibility. |
halfricanadian:Well said. It's wonderful that Nigeria has a feminist business world that lets men and women succeed on merit alone! |
Kindness is its own reward. You're treating all women like prostitutes. |
It is impossible to determine what you have from those two symptoms alone, but if you have pain when you pee it is likely gonnorhea or a UTI. Get tested immediately for all common STIs and have some antobiotics prescribed. Antibiotics will cure gonnorhea or UTI. When you have completed the antibiotics you can resume having sex, but you need to always use condoms. In three months you can get tested for HIV. Good luck and God be with you. |
Congratulations, you're a rapist. |
Obas101:Yeah it's bizarre. For such a sexually repressed country they have a large market for intimacy gadgets and such. |
Blackfire: ![]() |
passionate88:I don't know what you mean. You're saying condoms only break during vigorous sex? That's not true. |
thorpido:It's an equal responsibility. It takes two to tango. Conclusion being - male or female - if you're not ready to be responsible for a child: don't have sex at all. Especially when the woman could be ostracised for exercising her right to reproductive autonomy. |
pedrilo:Why - because I share facts? I thought education was a good thing. I can't sit by while people perpetuate false information... it's just not responsible. |
bdavis:You haven't really added any new factual argument to this thread, you've just echoed the values of all the other homophobes here. You misconstrue peer pressure for societal expectation. Nigeria is very religious and decades behind other countries when it comes to human rights and education (you can say the same for other African countries and those in the middle east). You may say that the west is going to hell, but the west has already experienced the societal state that Nigeria is currently in - it didn't work, that's why it changed. I've made suggestions for this girl and hope she is treated with love, respect and support. I feel awful she has to go through this dilemma due to pressures placed on her by the extremism of Nigeria: a place where biblical texts take precedent over facts to the point where people feel overwhelming shame for what is quite normal human behavior (ie, masturbation). But it doesn't change my stance on the topic of homosexuality. Your only original contribution to this conversation is likening homosexuals to murderers, which is not a good analogy at all. 1. Murderers cause harm to others. Homosexuals do not. Homosexuality, like heterosexuality, largely occurs between consenting adults. Murderers do what they do by force. 2. The fact that murderers commit these awful crimes does not remove their human rights (the UN and other bodies try to ensure this). When convicted large measures are taken to ensure their wellbeing in prison. They are fed, clothed and given quarters to sleep. Maybe that doesn't happen in Nigeria, but it happens in most modernised countries. 3. Murder happens for a variety of reasons. Let's look at one end of the spectrum - serial killers with no remorse. Evidence does suggest that these people have differently wired brains to the remainder of the population, and yes, they were born that way. They can't control their impulse to murder. There are also certain genetic predispositions documented that can provide a preliminary indication of how likely someone is to harm another person when put in certain sitiations. I feel really sad that you're so adamant in your hatred. We come from different places, different backgrounds and have differing education levels. I think I've been quite civil in presenting my arguments, because abuse doesn't encourage people to discover new things about the world and educate themselves. I'm not promoting homosexuality, I'm defending the people that you so heartlessy pass judgement on and abhor for no *good* reason. Maybe your hearts are in the right place - you care and you are applying the limited learning you have for this situation. My heart is in the right place, too. I just have a higher level of knowledge surrounding these issues due to my background. But the only response I get is anger: that I must be gay, I'm stupid and don't deserve a place on earth or in heaven. I don't think it's very Godly. |
passionate88:They can break or be misused leading to pregnancy. It's rare but it happens. |
thorpido:I'd also say that if a guy is not ready to procreate, he shouldn't have sex. |
thorpido:And when contraceptives fail? |
There are lots of reasons. One could be that he's not ready for the responsibility of children or condom use. Yet he was ready to shoot his load into a girl. Funny, the same type of guys often go on and on about how abortion is "morally wrong". Seems that men can choose their destiny in life, but won't allow a girl the same choice. It's morally reprehensible to abandon the girl who will mother your children, without providing her with any options. |
jpride:You're just mad that I dont agree with you. You're mad that people can explain something that you have been taught to fear and hate on the basis of a couple of passages in an old book. Interestingly, people who have the most violent hateful reaction to homosexuality are actually homosexuals themselves. Latent homosexuality. Look it up. I'm straight, so there's no point trying to say I'm a lesbian. Not thatI consider it an insult anyway. It's just important that you know the homosexual community has many more allies than just homosexuals. I hope you lead a happy life, and I pray your friend finds someone a lot more well educated, supportive and loving than you. |
It's fine. You're not related. Go for it. |
iamdurent:Yeah, but the poor guy isn't very bright. I'd let that one go and stick to the main topic of debate. |
It's fine. Just make sure you have a consenting lady. That's the thing about sex. You can pretty much do as you please so long as all parties consent to it. |
iamdurent:Some part of the new testament. I'm a Christian, but I'm not down with the bible. Especially since it's been so heavily censored by the catholic church :-/ |
