bbclue: Lol....the truth must be told.....you some people like notice me...some give wrong advised couple with unnecessary Grammer when they know the answer is konikoni....wrong.... assuming I have not seen someone in this thread they gave ban of 5 years and the yeeye lawyer ask him to reapply after giving the lawyer 1000 dollars at the end still they refused him...naso the guy just locked up and face Germany now he is in Germany studying This is what most people here don't seem to understand. After an applicant has successfully responded to the fairness letter, an immigration lawyer has no power again to alter the ban. Immigration lawyers are also hustlers and for sure they have family members to cater for. They will charge you a fee of about 3000$CAD - 4000$CAD just to write a letter regarding the ban. At the end of day, when the applicant finally reapplies the application will be bounced back due to the ongoing ban which was bestowed on the applicant. Let's embrace the truth and allow this young man move on with his life by searching for other countries. |

jnyuwa02: The statement written on the form that he can reapply, actually means he can reapply anytime, not 5 years like you stipulated. He really can apply anytime he chooses if he feels he can over effective rebutall to the misrepresentation. But the chances are not easy to overcome it. We agree on that one.
What evidence do you have against the person who said he overcame a ban? I really do not see anything unbelievable about that. Success ride to the applicant! The person who claimed to have overcome a ban on this thread, her information was found misleading and has already been deleted by the moderator of this reputable thread because a procedural fairness letter is known to be the last chance to save an immigration case and can not be averted! after acknowledging and responding to the letter. |

MeinKampf: I don't really know where your" know all" disposition is coming from. You haven't seen to you translates to it doesn't exist, come off this high horse and leave your opinion as a suggestion, not a fact. Someone told this house he had same ban issue and was overturned, yet you doubted him. Your doubt doesn't take his TRV away. If you actually read through that person's comment, which was later on deleted by the moderator of this thread because it was found misleading. She claimed she wasn't served a procedural fairness letter before she was banned. This makes her case very much easier to tackle with the assistance of an immigration attorney. But, the applicant in question was given the chance to explain himself after which he was slapped with a 5 years ban. So, you can see that both cases are quite different. That's the more reason why I doubted if this person case will ever scale through. At the end, the applicant will be left with the decision on whether to reapply or not. |

MeinKampf: I need to ask you, out of every applications for TRV, how many do you see or hear about? Your conclusions shouldn't always be drawn on few cases you see. In probability, sample size has an effect on margin of error. I wouldn't have taken up this issue if you have said that your assertion is based on cases you've been privy to I haven't seen any that was overturned. As a matter of fact, the ones I have seen so far that reapplied were turned down and was asked to serve their ban. |

bbclue: Frankrobben.....if you can remembered Senarato ..just quoting the name...he has the same issue..he contacted a lawyer...the lawyer said he can reapply of which he later did....but was refused and a letter was sent with his refusal note saying he is to serve 5 years ban......
Let the matter rest before someone will abuse you...let him reapply....who knows God can make the vo happy on the day of his application and visa approval An immigration lawyer will always advice you to reapply and by so doing, the deputy high commission will decline the applicant. What beats me the most is someone came here saying that ban can be overturned after being served a procedural fairness letter to the applicant. I wonder where this moniker got this information. Well, I will take it as sleep of tongue or a maybe a typo. The applicant is certainly free to reapply, but he should return here to tell us about his scores. |

jnyuwa02: He can reapply to Canada if he feels he has what it takes to overturn the ban. The assertion on his form that he can reapply again, was not meant as a gimmicks. It’s a possibility overturning the ban. But a very, very difficult possibility given he was given a fair chance hearing/opportunity to explain before the ban was instituted. He can hire an attorney who can help word in a professional way, reason for previous failure to disclose. Like one person said here, they were able to overcome a ban before. We have no reason to doubt the authenticity of such a claim. It’s within the realm of possibility. My humble opinion.
It will be difficult to be able to get into Australia. He may get into USA. Very very possible. I have seen people ordered removed from Canada even get into USA as far as they don’t have any criminal history. USA is unique like that, they try to make their own decisions irrespective of what Canada has reached on its own independently. Canada too operates the same way and that is why you see here irrespective of whether one was denied a USA visa, Canada makes no hesitation in granting as long as that person was honest to disclose such denial. New Zealand and Germany too are possibilities he could try like you mentioned. The refusal letter which stated he is free to reapply, doesn't mean that he is eligible to do so rather after the stipulated ban time (5 years)... I strongly doubt the applicant who claimed her ban was averted after consulting an immigration attorney in Canada, because the chances of winning such a case is very very difficult after being served a fairness letter. He might be lucky enough to win the case, only if the applicant used an agent and it was indicated on his form. Aside this, I see no hope. I have an experienced immigration attorney in Canada, I can give the applicant the contact of the attorney so he can try and see what follows next. |

I already getting accepted into a university in Canada and I was asked to go apply for study permit. What are my chances of my study permit been accepted?it's over 8 years since I finished secondary school. Thank you candygist, What have you been doing ever since you left high school? Have you been working and learning decent amount of money?. The program in which you were accepted, is it directly related to computer, which you claimed you did in the past? Your SOP must be very rational to why you have decided to go back to school at this point in time, your serious intention to study and a convincing reason that you're going to excel in a country like Canada where education is so demanding and primarily based on intensive practical knowledge and research skills. Why you choose Canada rather than Nigeria considering the high cost of international students. You will certify the visa officer that you're truly a bona-fide student that will study and leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay. Generally, your chances of securing a TRV is slim considering the long gap. If you can explain the aforementioned points in your SOP, you might be favoured by the Visa officer. |

I told them the statement actually confused me..the statement : have u ever been denied a Visa or being ordered a leave a country.so I focused on I didn't really get the english, as in I tot it was being ordered to leave a country that was why I ticked no as the answer.and I also told them I have been denied a UK Visa which they didn't detect. I will also try to apply again.. Hello Sir, I'll advice you as a friend and as a brother. Please don't waste your precious time, resources, and money trying to reapply for a Canada study Visa. I have read what others have said about your refusal and concerning the ban which was given to you, coupled with the attachment you pasted at the previous page. I must tell you that's the practical truth!, you were actually given a ban, which makes you inadmissible to Canada for a period of 5 years. . As per the ban which was bestowed on you, your refusal letter will always follow the generic word "you're free to reapply once you have shown concern that your present situation meets the legislative requirements for a study permit". Sir! Even if you like hire Attorney David Cohen a prominent immigration lawyer in Canada, your ban will not be averted. Because you were sent a procedural fairness letter which allows you to explain yourself prior a consular officer will make a decision, of which you did and it came with a 5 years ban. Sir!, If you weren't given a ban, your refusal letter will be based on the normal generic reasons(purpose of visit, home ties etc...). I counsel you from the wisdom of my experience and several cases we have handled here about applicants being caught in sharp practices. You might also decide to deepen your refusal by ordering your GCMS NOTEMy genuine advise is you should look forward to applying to other first rate countries like New Zealand, Germany, or Australia and forget about Canada for the period of 5 years. Deride not what I say because of its simplicity. Truth is always simple!. I rest my case! |

realshifu: Approval Alert! Long Post Alert Too.
I applied on July 26th online. I received a medical request August 8th, I did it the next day in PH. My medicals was updated as pass earlier today around 11am, and about 30mins ago, the approval and Passport request landed.
Msc, McGill University Documents submitted. My Sponsor is my Fiancée's Sister. I submitted her personal and business' statements of account (She is a small business owner), with a combined balance of about 13 million naira after she has transferred my estimated tuition fee for 1 year to me (1.2m). Sponsorship and affidavit of sponsorship letter. CAC documents of her business My Fiancée's and my Sponsor’s birth certificates and my Sponsor’s International passport data page (single travel history to dubai). Sponsor’s family picture of about 8years ago showing me at her convocation ceremony from the University (My Fiancée is in the picture too). My engagement dinner picture with my Fiancee.
SOP(2 pages) Resume (It shows my two research publications in international peer-reviewed journals and my current project) Statement of my long-standing Mutual funds investment account with ARM (1.4m current balance). TOEFL Result (I wrote it last year for another purpose, McGill didn't require it from me, but I sha submitted it anyway in the rush) Offer letter from McGill. CAQ approval letter from Quebec. Email approval of my Differential Fee Waiver Award from McGill (This DFW allows me to pay tuition and other fees at Quebec rate which is about 1.2m (4120 CAD) instead of International rate which is 19820 CAD). My NYSC call-up letter, and PPA posting letter (I am currently a youth corper). My MDCN Annual Practicing License. My birth certificate, University degree and Transcript. Parents' and my 4 siblings' birth certificates. My retired father's landed property and valuation (I didn't do deed of transfer). Valued at 8m. My father's RSA statement as at when he retired years ago. Balance was 4m.
I was denied Visa twice in the space of a month last year to go and present one of my research work in New York. Also, I was denied a UK visa this last May to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum as one of the youth delegates representing Nigeria at the last concluded CHOGM in London. I had another paper to present early last month in London too, however, I couldn't even dare apply for a visa again, so I begged one of my co-authors to make the presentation. He already had a UK visa. I have never travelled out of this country before as an adult so my passport is Virgin.
I didn't pay for Tuition, McGill generally doesn't allow you pay tuition until you have both your CAQ and your Study Permit.
I thank God for His mercies, as I didn't know I will be applying for the study permit until days before that July 26th. But God practically fast-tracked my approval. Thanks to @jnyuwa02 and @frankrobben for their immense contributions to this group. I arranged my documents in a hurry based on their back and forth on this thread from day 1.
If their is anything to learn from this my divine grace, is that no two applications are the same. And to always say the truth too. I explained all my visa denials and I filled in the TB part of the application that I recently managed a patient that was diagnosed of Tuberculosis under my care and I was in close contact with him as his Doctor for weeks. I didn't know how such information could have affected my application, but I couldn't bring myself to lying about such exposure while I was filling the form.
Last last, I Thank God! Congratulations on your approval realshifu. More approvals to come soon for the TRV hopefuls. |

The status of the application is still showing processing and the School will resume soon. Am asking for a friend and he's worried. It's very possible for the consular officer to approve your visa after school resumption. Most schools in Canada gives 2 weeks ultimatum as a deadline for a Student to show up, otherwise you defer to the next available term or loose your space for your accepted term. You will have to confirm from your school the deadline for school resumption, so that if eventually your visa gets approved, you can quickly pick up your luggages and travel. |

Anchillary101,
Canada study Visa is based predominantly on the four (4) following factors: 1) The applicant primary intention to study further after such a long period of time (study gaps applicants). 2) Is the applicant proposed program reasonable inlight with their current employment or previous studies and further represent a logical progressive step in their Career goals? 3) The applicant must certify the visa officer that they will return to their home country at the end of their authorized stay in Canada. 4-) Financial Sufficiency, ability to pay for their first year tuition and living expenses (the visa officers will also put into consideration the applicant/sponsor probability for future funding).
The visa officers are not after the applicant age, either they are after the applicant serious intention to study and the relevance of their chosen program with their career goal.
Cc: My advice to those applicants out there that have study gaps -------- is that you should try as much as possible to provide sufficient ties to your home country like: landed properties, investments, shares certificates, buildings rented to tenants, or business assets etc.. under your name, because this will go a long run to prove to the visa officer that you have achieved something tangible while in Nigeria and you're currently travelling to Canada in order to enhance your career prospects back home. Make sure your SOP is solid and airtight that will highlight your career progression between your current job role and previous studies. Let them know that you're not using study permit as means to facilitate relocation into Canada. Explain why you want to undertake your proposed program in Canada and not Nigeria and how its going to help you to achieve your career aspirations. What would be the final outcome?... What are the demand for that job in your home country? Is the pay scale financially rewarding that would offest the cost of your studies in Canada? Etc...
Furthermore, considering that you've been working (study gaps applicants) for a very long time, you should also provide a personal/salary bank statement in your name to evident that you've made substantial savings for yourself over the years while away from school. This will further convince the visa officer that you've a high paid job here in Nigeria and with another academic qualification (certificate) from Canada your pay scale in Nigeria will be great.
I rest my case! |

jnyuwa02: This guy has extensive travel history, so he is not a clear case study for study gaps. Study gaps of 10 years usually beg the question that at such an age, is the applicant a genuine student or simply using the student permit as a way of entering Canada for other things other than studies and not leave when his stay has elapsed. I think this applicant clearly answered that question in the affirmative by his extensive travel history of having abided by the immigration law of numerous countries he visited. I know a few people with 10 years study gap who clearly showed progression in studies and still were denied. That tells you that it is not simply a question of academic progression, but one at the heart and soul of the genuiness of the applicant’s intention to study and depart. A person with 10 years study gap has to do significantly more to succeed than say someone with a 1 or 2 years study gap. All who have 10 years study gap do themselves significant good in concentrating in showing in their SOP or in other places, their devotion to learning and reason to beleive that if the privilege of a study permit is extended to them, they can be counted to study and excel and leave at the end of their studies. I think this person you referring to did all these in effective ways. His extensive travel history of having never contravened his purpose of visit to other countries, made his job earsier. I know why I gave you the name Attorney! because you will surely come attacking me to make sure you win the race. Despite the advice I gave, you still persisted and now have based it on travel history being the key factor to the applicant visa approval. All I know is that study gaps with relevant work experience in proposed program is not a reason for a visa refusal once the applicant SOP is well analyzed and detailed. I won't go further debating on this matter. |

Naijaforeigner: Let me start by thanking all the gurus of this great thread, you guys rock. Thank you so much jnyuwa02 and Frankrobbn1 and the guy that made that list on the first page, God bless you guys. I make a special prayer for you today Jnyuwa02, as you have been a blessing to many People on here, God Almighty will perfect everything that concerns you in Jesus name (amen).
I started my journey late June and had to read close to 50 pages of this thread within a week.
I got all documents and applied July 10. My application to Canada was a last minute try. I had a 2:1 in business but the only school I could find as at late June was Fanshawe college and I picked PGC logistics and supply chain management (LSCM), got admission and paid first term fees.
Documents submitted - Paper Application - submitted July 10
All IMM forms
My personal statement of account - mum transferred over £16,000 in 3 tranches via an agent.
A sponsors letter from my mum - I actually wrote this letter for my mum ( I saw sample on the first page) and strongly emphasised how she has been the one who sent me to do BA in UK and paid for 4 years without owing. I made sure this letter was not more than a page and straight to the point. - Letter of explanation (LOE) from me - I detailed the course I was going for, focused on how I have had a good record in the UK, no criminal convictions and always obeyed the rules. Also mentioned how I never missed classes for 4 years and completed my studies without any issue. I stressed on how I love challenges, stating how I moved from Nigeria to UK alone (culture change, new people et al) and how I would love to try a new challenge in Canada and try education over there and then concluded with, once I am done with the PGC LSCM in Canada, I would come back and take over my mums company. p.s my mum owns a company in Nigeria.
I wrote my LOE myself using the sample on the first page and then sent it to my brother who is a PHD holder to proof read for errors. I Told him I am satisfied with the content all I needed was proof reading for errors. If I remember correctly, I made sure my LOE was not more than 600 words.
- birth certificate, my passport page, mothers passport page, C of O of my mothers house, CAC documents for my mothers business, proof of payment of first term tuition fees, BA certificate, transcripts.
All these documents were photocopied and no original was collected at London Canada VFS office.
- no medicals (not needed for applicants in UK) and no Police certificate.
The things that scared me were;
(1) I forgot to explain the lump sum. I honestly cannot tell how I forgot to explain this after reading this word for word before submitting my documents.
(2) Difficult convincing the VO in my SOP why I would be leaving UK with a 2:1 with the option of doing masters here in UK in a university but decided to do PGC in Canada when the fees were almost the same? To make matters worse, the course is a very common course in UK in almost all Universities. Infact, my application was screaming this guy wants to run away.
(3) I am a matured student - 31 years.
(4) I also forgot to show my USA visa (still valid till Dec 2019), Dubai stamped passport page.
After I submitted, I fasted day and night for at least 9 days. I have never fasted more than a day in UK in my 4 years of being here. This whole process taught me many things I will never forget.
Finally let me say this, on 10/08/18 (Last week Friday), I listened to a convention online by Pastor EA Adeboye and once he was done with his sermon, he asked everyone to stand up for prayers. Just before he asked people to pray, he paused and suddenly said "the lord said there is someone here, that one breakthrough you need for your joy to be full, receive it. Something in me told me that word was for me, I jumped up, claimed it and kept on praying with it.
I sincerely pray for as many that are still hoping on God for their visas, your joy would also be full before this month runs out if you believe. this whole application is just Mercy of God. p.s I am not saying don't put in work, put in maximum work, put all documents and then pray.
Thank you to wheyme, galala123, lagos2canna, bismo, ezriela, mightyola, shizzleadedapo, bbclue and every other person. I am so grateful. Congratulations Naijaforeigner! You're favoured by God, the same God will favour many TRV hopefuls in here. Remember to always come around to assist the upcoming ones. Congratulations once again! |

Jayjaycee18: PLUS ENOUGH PRAYERS, FASTING AND MORE PRAYERS.
N.B: Study gap was over 11 years, but applicant's SOP was very detailed and Resume showed what she was engaged in throughout all the gap years. Applicant's personal SOA had less than N200k naira at time of submission.
Finally, to all the TRV hopefuls, just keep on praying and commit all to the Almighty God, because yours is just close by. The desire to be lucky is universal. I can remember we argued and debated on the above subject matter ABOUT APPLICANTS HAVING STUDY GAPSI hope this will stand as a clear evidence that 10 years study gaps will not pose to be a reason for a visa refusal once there is strong correlation between your intended program and current job role. Do your part by presenting a rational explanation letter, then hope and pray to be favoured by the whimsical Goddess of Good luck. Cc: kpizzle |
