kano man, was sanusi stealing from the emirates Davida33: You are a fool for typing this, you are one of the reasons why Nigeria can't move forward. I am from the North and that is the tradition even Sanusi father was banished when he was detroned but I don't think this tradition should be practise in this modern era. The Kano government plan was to banished Sanusi to a remote area where he will not even be allowed to receive visitors but their plan have failed and by now they will be regretting because this has made him more popular and I can guarantee you that Sanusi will likely contest for a political postion in 2023. |

you really know these things!!! j1mmy: Well his troubles started just before the GEJ / Buhari elections
He tried to keep the Hausa / Fulani Hegemony in power by pulling the rug under GEJ's feet. He Stole a considerable sum of money from the CBN, and while been chased he was enthroned to give him immunity from justice. He quickly went to Buhari after elections to offer his services of probing the Jonathan government, the PDP also then submitted his corruption to Buhari part of which is being used today against him - once Buhari saw the evidence he quickly dissociated himself from Sanusi. Despite his boastful literacy levels, he continued the primitive tradition of keeping very young girls (mostly non-Muslims) in his palace for sexual pleasures against their wishes.
The list goes on, what it comes down to is what he says in public is not what he does in private! |

After cooking we ate some parts and forwarded the rest to my biology teacher. He brought a record of chicken parts which we could not produce. That earned us (Victor Anyanwa, Sunday Okafor, Ikpe, etc) punishment of bringing a fowl and a tuber of yam to school. I fought on behalf of my erstwhile JS2 friend with a senior SS2 for attempting to steal his locker, trust me they SS2 rugged arrange me well on Friday. nonsense. na sharia and traditonal law dey follow. you want constitution for emirs?? do what india did, abolish all traditional rulers Leonel55: The issue before the courts, in this case, is not about the throne or how Sanusi disrespected the Governor but about his fundamental human right (note: disrespecting the Governor is not a crime anywhere in our laws).
No one, not even the President of the country, has the constitutional authority to banish and limit the movement of any Nigerian, no matter how highly or lowly placed in the society, from one state to another for whatever reason, using State security forces. Even a criminal who was caught red handed still has his/her day in court before being committed to prison time.
True that the constitution empowers the Governor to enthrone or dethrone traditional rulers but it does not grant them or anyone else the power to banish, relocate and limit their movement under the guise of traditional custom. The constitution is superior to any tradition or custom, and it's dictates on human rights prevail over any traditional demands.
If tradition where to be dominant then the Governor should be subject to the Emir but that is not the case. They can't follow the constitution on one hand and discard it when it doesn't suit them.
The truth of the matter is that the Emirate, like any other traditional kingdom in Nigeria, is of little or no significance to the Constitution hence, the fringy mention and peripheral role assigned to them in the constitution. On the other hand, upholding of fundamental human rights of every Nigerian is of pivotal importance in the constitution. The whole exercise of banishment, relocation and limitation of movement of Sanusi by all the parties involved is an institutional abuse of his fundamental human rights, and as such the entire exercise is null and void before the law.
If Sanusi's lawyers play their cards right, and the judges act independently, then this case should be an easy win for them cos no part of the Constitution empowers the Governor or the security forces to do what they did to Sanusi.
Anyone supporting Sanusi's banishment under whatever argument is either illiterate or starkly ignorant of the law and should get some civic education to help his/her life: no offense intended.
Note: this response is not about Sanusi's dethronement but about the abuse of his fundamental human rights by the very institutions that should uphold them |

What was reigning then was teachers having sex with each other after school hours using our tables. Anyways, that glorious day i and five of my friends decided to sneak back into the school after we've been successfully chased by our teachers. We got to the top of the stairs where our class (pry 4) was located and we were hearing moaning of our english teacher (not so sure) been banged by our maths teacher. We were taking turns in watching the porn unknowing to us the impact our combined zeal in the adult movie was having on the rail of the stairs. When it got to my turn, i have not even enjoyed my ticket up to 2 min when the rail crashed. Na so everyone pick race. I rushed to the gate where i was deeply wounded by the rusted iron handle of the gate. I got home just pretended as if the wound no dey pain me. Two days later i couldn't lift my leg, i was rushed to the house of a nurse in my area by my mom. The wound was getting infected already. I was given like 5 injection at once that day. Hmm, the scar is still there to remind me of that day.
Two weeks after, we were taking turns at the window of our headmasters office to watch another episode of porn. When it got to my turn, the pipe we were using as support just broke. I couldn't get out quick enough and so i was caught. I was given 6 strokes of cane each day for a week to mention my accomplise but i didn't. I could not avoid going to school cosnthen i have to explain to my parents why I'm not going and those day ehn...unless you are deadly sick, you can't stay home during school days.
Then i knew God wanted me to be a good care and steer clear of all types of adult movie I so love my primary school then. Secondary school gist is for another day. |

why you dey lie / dey remove am became he dey put in hand too much in the pot and he was saved by the fg!!! i hear the corruption investigation dey continue now that hes out of the way. Freemanalee: Some people here on Nairaland are just too myopic and deluded
A lot of Nairalanders kept bashing SLS without actually knowing a thing or two about him or why he was dethroned and banished
Anyways I have time. Let me educate some of you.
I reside in Kano for more than a decade now and I must tell you why SLS isn't loved by Kano elite and Kano Government.
1.SLS angered the Kano Elites when he once emphasizes the need for mass encouragement for girl-child education. The truth is, accepting change here is quite cumbersome
2. He criticized the Kano Government for not doing anything about the alarming poverty rate in the state
3. He also criticizes the almajiri system
4. He once tell the Kano people to build more schools than mosques because he believes any one could build a mosque to seek for Allah's blessings but building schools means building human capacity which according to him is better. If you must know, the northern politicians use religion to achieve their political agenda. They believe Mosques are cheaper to build than schools. So the politicians use the money meant for community development to build mosques while inflating the cost. And because the masses are gullible, building a mosque or Islamic schools are regarded as good and distinctive political points
5. He was the man that angered the Kano Elites when he stressed the need for one man one wife, backing his claim with the Holy Quran. This is because he saw the danger of overpopulation and poverty. But the Elites sees this as political sabotage since they need more population for their political machinations and what comes to them from federal allocations
6. The final straw that broke the camel's back was simply because he openly criticized the malpractices carried out in the last Kano election that resulted to INEC declaration of the election as inconclusive.
SLS is a man who say the truth no matter the consequence(s). Truly he is paying for being bluntly outspoken and honest. So if you know nothing about this man or why he was dethroned, kindly shut it. |
