Instead of unmarried pregnant daughters with protruding bellies parading the villa, we now have respectable intellectuals that can serve as role models to younger Nigerian boys and girls.

Quakertellicus1: Good points.
But most Nigerians told ASUU to stop going on strike in 2013....a strike which was all about getting more funding for the Universities. We told them to go home and rest , that they ASUU are part of the problem (partly true).
So ASUU went home and rested.
Also when Fashola increased fees for LASU, we told him that we are all poor and we cannot afford high fees. So, the fees were reduced, and we all rejoiced over how we put one over those ''greedy politicians '' (They are greedy too, by the way).
And as a result our universities are starved of funds. Meaning that our universities cannot attract world class research and world class funding and world class clout...even world class lecturers...which means they remain perpetually broke....with funding not up to 5 million dollars US
Meanwhile, unis like Yaradua London almamater get funding to the tune of billions of dollars US.No wonder the rich and even some of the poor are running out.
Yes, our leaders should have done well. I am not disputing that. But Nigerians should realize too that education cannot be free of charge. If you insist on paying less than 100 dollars US for school fees every year...that is what you get. Poorly funded degrees. Gbam. |

opribo: [s]Not the notherners, the average northerner in school is there with bursary even if the father is a politician the government will still be paying the bursary. This is why hat has been happening in Nigeria while the average southerner is been wholly financed from the parents pockets. Go and investigate for yourself. Even while there they hardly work because they dont need to they have all the money they need so they can focus on their studies while the southerner have to work and school to augment their income.
It is a very terrible situation we find ourselves in that country, i am even surprised sometimes how we manage to still remain with all these things. At least you saw federal government building almajiri schools, what on earth does that mean yet they wont build schools for the indigent students aspriring to go to school in the south.[/s] |

Great. We are building while others are bombing and destroying in their laughable bid to distract this administration.
8 years from now, they will still scream marginalization forgetting that they hailed the destroyers in their blind mindlessness, while others were constructing critical infrastructure.
Till today, northern states (especially Zamfara) receive much lower allocations than southern states, who even get 13% derivation extra which is looted by their leaders, who they strangely choose to defend when asked to account for their crimes.
Call it 'northernization' or whatever, the fact remains that the northern governors are utilizing their scarce resources judiciously and those supporting militancy will eventually bear the consequences of their myopia.
Kudos to Obiano, Tambuwal, Bagudu, Yari, Ambode, and other Governors that are delivering the dividends of democracy to their people. |

Yesterday it was Habiba Daggash being celebrated for earning a first class in Engineering from Oxford, and a few weeks ago it was another brilliant northern gentleman that was similarly being celebrated. While some are already bitter at the rising trend of Nigerians from the North using their brains to paint our country in brilliant colors thereby puncturing the narrative they love to peddle about the North, we will continue to celebrate the fact that we are developing skilled manpower for a brighter future for the region and Nigeria as a whole. The internet will rewire the northern stereotype in no time. Congrats Tani. |
