That's cowardice. I will like you to read articles, and books written by Noam Chomsky. The man spent most of his life projecting the United States for what it is.
A rogue state.

Further more, did you also slap the Police officer? My purpose of asking is to make you see is that if not, then by context of Seun's scenario. Your's is very different.

I did not slap the police. My case is different, but the point I was trying to raise is that if Seun had spoken in a calm manner, perhaps begged, the officer would have left him and settled easily just like the officer I encountered also resolved mine easily.

You loss? Of course it's illegal. Did you not read the leak and the things it revealed. Although we already knew some of these things. The US are on ground fighting. Why did you think they abandoned the Afghanistan war?

But which one is the police man is in COMA taking treatment
Do you know how many people police do slap on daily bases

Considering how brazen government officials lie these days, you should be grateful they didn't say the man is dead and investigation links Seun's slap to be the cause of death. By now the guy would be looking at life imprisonment.

If a poor man did what Seun did. That police man would not have remained calm I hope you all know.

It is no more than what the reality of life is.
It's really about privileges. Some have it more than others.

Let me broaden your perspective. Had it been it wasn't Russia that invaded Ukraine you think the U.S that claim to be world police will sit down and be watching from afar?

If you slap a rank and file in the police, you will have yourself to blame. Whatever you see, take it. However that officer was a senior officer and from my experience most senior officers are usually calm. When you see people praising police officers because of one favour they received, it is usually from the senior officers usually Asp above. I once mistakenly hit a police officer's vehicle and when I came down and he also came down. He was just saying what's all this, when I started begging the guy asking him to come to one side let's settle it. When the man saw how I was talking, he said I should go. Motor wey I hit scatter one of the front head light totally. I was shocked. People around were still asking the man if he said I should go. The man repeated that I should forget and go that I am a peaceful person.

Also don't believe the nonsense you are being told. The US soldiers are on ground in Ukraine fighting as we speak. The only reason they have not declared a full scale war is because this fight is not sanctioned by the Senate.

Better get your family out and get people into your ceiling to see what's going on. Also invest in perimeter cameras to atleast see how it comes and go. It is well with you and yours o.

My brother, the thing tire me o. I'm wondering why Nigerians act stupid. A snake is in your roof and you are running Helter skelter looking for various dibia to consult instead of entering the roof and kill the snake yourself. Lala would be happy to post the thread to front page if it was killed. This man is really funny. If I had watched this in my screen, I would have doubted a human being cannot be this stupid

Culture / Re: Addressing The Misconceptions Regarding The Great Bini Empire By Yorubas by gaddafe(m): 11:50pm On May 14, 2023
Usenokpevbo:
Whatever your point was, the motive and the idea came out as wrong.Akoko Edo is not considered as part of Benin city or the entire Bini land of today albeit it is part of Edo state. Same with Asaba even though they were part of the empire.

Akoko Edo to Benin city is not by any standard close neither is Asaba. And besides these were your statements”This is why you see that in the current day Benin there seems to be so much dialect and their settlement is close to the Palace

Anyone who will read this will certainly misinterpret it. What you opined by your statement is that in the current day Benin which is Edo south. There seem to be so much dialect. Asaba and Akoko Edo are not in current day Benin. Asaba and Akoko Edo is not by any standard close to the palace and they operate as different entities today even though they have subtle respect for the Bini Monarch

Anyone layman who will read that your statement will assume that there are several tribes in Benin whose settlements is a stone throw from the palace. Not knowing that you are talking about settlements that is not within the current Bini territory of today, some being in other states entirely while the Akoko Edo is In the far flung northern part of Edo state.

I don't think I have time for this back and forth statement. Before that my post you're referring to, there was a previous post which I clearly gave the original map of the Benin in the 18th century. So the second post you're referring to is a follow up of the previous. If you didn't see that you can't blame for it. Benin as it is known today was not the way it was in the 18th century. Both Akoko Edo and the others you mentioned were included in Benin in the 18th century. I've explained this previously. I can't be going back and forth. I believe I was clear on that from my very post. If comprehension is giving you problems refrain from quoting me

I re- read your statement and I thought of something. What you know as Benin today, is not what was known as Benin in the 18th century. The Benin I'm referring to there is the one of the 18th century thereabouts not the Benin of today. The Benin of today has one language.

And the areas I'm referring to as being close to the Palace are places like Igbanke, asaba, akoko Edo etc. These areas are considered close to the Palace when you consider the size of Benin in the 18th century

This thread is quite enlightening. Many intelligent people are starting to realize that the mythical Yoruba past is untrue. Because they already had western education they were able to dupe our ancestors with their treachery and lie, seeking to change a history they were never a part of. We are no longer susceptible to deception. I appreciate your input.

Kindly throw more light on this if you can.

The issue is the typing, copying and pasting. It's not easy especially when using the phone. And most people here will need a picture to know if you're saying the truth or not. To verify what my brothers here have said you need to visit the British library (Library of Congress) and also use the Portuguese maps. Look at their map as at when they landed and discovered these areas. You will not find Oyo in the map. It was not because it didn't exist but because it was a small settlement that was insignificant.
However to what I said earlier it is public knowledge that when the British was trying to amalgamate Nigeria and educate us, they insisted and encouraged the South Western people to use a common language which in their wisdom they felt it should be the Yoruba dialect since it was spoken by the majority of people. It was the same strategy they used for the north and east. This was the beginning of Yoruba per se. I will leave that part for another day as there is already a thread here on NL that covers this history holistically. Prior to the British coming here, there was nothing like Yoruba. What existed was just tribes. Various tribes were at war with each other and when your tribe is defeated some of your population will be captured as slaves. Some of these slaves were later sold to the whites. The Benin spoke a lot of dialect but the current language been spoken today and called Benin was actually spoken in the Palace and used as a coded language sort of. Those that spoke the language we refer to as the Yoruba dialect of today were also regarded as Benin and had the same full privilege as a Benin man. In most cases, they were given positions even in the Palace. This is why you see that in the current day Benin there seems to be so much dialect and their settlement is close to the Palace. There was nothing like discrimination based on language, those stuffs started with the British. The Benin understood nationhood, they knew that we could not all speak the same language and be brothers. Everyone was living together and peacefully before that invasion... Will continue later

😁🤣🤣🤣🙄 Eye witness written documents how can we go back now and ask someone from Oyo Empire and Benin Empire to bring their written documents. Or show me, in your words the "eyewitness written documents"

I initially did not want to comment on this thread as I've seen a lot ridiculous to even stupid fact that anyone with a basic level of IQ will detect the fallacy. However I just want to let you know it's not impossible to find eyewitness documents or account. I personally met someone (although already late) who witness the battle that overthrew Ovoranmen from Benin Kingdom. If you can get the guardian newspaper of January 1, 2000 you will see the interview of a man who lived to see 3 century. I personally know the man in question as he's related to me. Most of the information we got from them are verifyable. Why I'm I saying this? It is possible to get eye witness documents. If you can't get hold of eye witness documents in Oyo then something is wrong with the history. Also another fallacy I see here is that there was nothing like the Yoruba history. What we had was various tribes. It was the British that first brought the idea of Yoruba per se. So when I see Yoruba history here and there, I just laugh.

If we truly want to have a working country, the judiciary has to be totally independent of the executive.

Also, there must be a body that ensures the executive and its agencies comply with court judgements. If not, we will keep going round in circles.

Your idea is good except you missed it at the second paragraph. We don't need any other body created. The current security agencies can handle it. Where the problem occurs is that the security agencies seem to be the walking stick of the executive. This ought not to be, rather they should be answerable to Nigeria (the country not individual). So why is this not so? The answer is simple. The mode in which the heads of agencies are appointed to power. The problem has always been caused by the useless legislative houses we have in Nigeria. Correct this and you have a working country. Do you know that in some countries, their legislatures have the power to stop their soldiers from going to war with another country. Can you say that for ours?

I'm not surprised that you couldn't link it together due to your mental disorder. A man loving a child is acting abnormally and it is a confirmed mental disorder even in psychiatry. A man loving a man is also abnormal and is a mental disorder as both are acting against natural and biological laws. You better visit the psychiatrist for proper evaluation.

Oh, is that an Edo man complaining. Wow, wow pls let me laff small, ma binu. grin

I can remember when I used to shout and voice out the danger of one nigeria and why nigeria remaining one spells certain invasion by these terrorists. I remember some edo little boys on this nairaland mocking me. That was as far back as 2020, 2021. They told me all manner of things that edo is different, that they could try the sh*t in other places but edo.

In 2021, MN Kanu was kidnapped from Kenya. I remember a lot of you laughed. Igboho's house was attacked. Maybe because Igboho is not as loud as Kanu, his own mockery was reduced but he was still mocked.

Some of you here yabbed IPOB, ESN. Called them terrorists... People defending their own lands.

Now is the time of reckoning. At this stage, nobody pities anybody. You must have heard the phrase: "Gbogbo wa lo ma je breakfast".

P.S: That some of you still call them herdsmen only shows you don't yet know what is up against you. In Darfur, they used camels. In Sokoto, they used horses. Today, they used cattle. These are mechanisms, only the wise will understand, not a typical zoogerian.

What have you written? If Edo boys mocked you in 2020 it's because you presented yourself to be mocked. Just like what you wrote here. It's total nonsense that I don't even know what message you're trying to pass. Herdsmen issues have been in Edo as far back as 2016/2017. So as at 2020 anyone who was in Edo knows there were herdsmen in Edo and the indigenes were tackling it as best as they could. As far back as 2019, Edo State government purchased arms for most communities ravaged by herdsmen. It is normal for you to see most community guys moving about with pump action. Although we know this is not enough but it helped since the indigenes claimed they know the environment better than any herdsmen. What were you expecting? That an Edo man will start supporting ESN? Was that authorised by the government? If you want to go on with illegality, you are free but don't force people to join that cause. There's no way any Edo man can support Nnamdi Kanu as he had insulted the Edos in several of his speeches. The same with his followers. Keep your struggle in SE for now.

Career / Re: I Am Approaching 40 And Am Scared My Dreams Are Not Realistic by gaddafe(m): 2:41pm On Apr 28, 2023
greatopec:
Good day Nairalanders
I will be 40 on Oct 19 this year and I am scared the kind of life I have always desired may not be
achievable. Let me list these things that worries me so that you can probably advise me or assist me in achieving any of them.
1) By 40 I had wished I will be living in my house with cars in my garage
Current situation- I am a salary earner who eagerly waits for the salary to drop before my family can eat conveniently every month.
2)I love cars and driving. Was thinking of getting a good car for Uber business.
Current situation- I have not been able to gather enough money to buy a car for Uber or personal use.
3)Seeking greener pasture abroad.
Current situation- I have not been able to have enough disposable income to even get a passport to start with in the first place.
4)Self development. I had interest in programming so I decided to learn coding and all that. I started with free code camp and also this thread by iyenimofe on nairaland has been so helpful https://www.nairaland.com/1383359/learn-web-design-live-nairaland/6#17571611
The issue I have progressing is that of enough data subscription to watch more tutorials.
5)Acquisition of at least Masters.
I have a passion for learning and self development but I struggled to have my HND with distinction. Gathering enough funds to start my masters program has been an uphill task.

Little about my background
I am an HND graduate
I have a sister who am responsible for also.
I have a wife and two kids.
I work 8-5weekdays

Please don't sweat yourself over it. This is the true situation of most people in Nigeria. I'm just a bit different from you. I'm 38 and the only difference I can take from your post is that I have a degree and I already have my passport. That data for learning programming also hindered me from learning it even though I've started. I also have a side hustle. Please don't kill yourself over it. Everyone have what he or she is facing, we can't just kill ourself

Those guys are stupid to say the least. Just as the first man that told surgeons to always wash their hands while performing operations on pregnant women was killed only for them to realise years later that he was right so will they also realise this their foolish decision
