Politics › Re: I Was First To Prove Onnoghen Has Money He Can't Explain- Sowore by gare(f): 7:16am On Jan 24, 2019 |
Ray97: Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), says he was the first person to expose Walter Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), as possessing accounts containing unexplainable funds.
Sowore said this on Wednesday night while featuring at a town-hall meeting tagged 'TheCandidates', broadcast live on the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) with the support of MacArthur Foundation.
He made the statement while answering a question on how his administration would tackle corruption, if elected.
He explained that for any anti-corruption war to succeed, it must be fought indiscriminately.
"There must be consequences, you know... for people to know that it is not alright to be corrupt and still get a chieftaincy title," he said.
"Look at the judiciary. Look, Nigeria has been playing around with crruption for a long time, but you know, as an individual, I have been fighting corruption for the last 12 years with SaharaReporters.
"The Chief Justice of Nigeria who is under trial now, I was the first person on SaharaReporters to put out his account that he has money that he cannot explain. Do you know what happened when I did it? The EFCC issued a statement that I was wrong. Now, when it is politically expedient, he is underoing trial."
Onnoghen is currently being tried at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for fraudulent asset declaration, with latest revelation about his bank account detailing a series of dubious payments to the tune of bundreds of thousands of dollars.

Politics › Re: FG Launches Probe Into Onnoghen’s 13-year Salary Account by gare(f): 1:31pm On Jan 21, 2019 |
Ovamboland: After realizing the absurdity of your position that the CJN should be left alone until all other accused you don't like are tried, you still lacked the candour to say the truth as it is? How does shielding any accused advance the course of justice as want to make us believe you're passionate about? Does that passion have only partisan colours? Left alone? No, my position is why now |
Politics › Re: APC Replies Obasanjo At Press Conference: 'We Will Disgrace You' by gare(f): 10:24am On Jan 21, 2019 |
Fuckuignos: Obasanjo was the same person who told us that Buhari is the answer to the problem we were facing just because he wants Jonathan out of office. Now he saying the corrupt Atiku is the only way out. Do we really need to take him seriously? You have to take him serious because you all clapped for him when he tore his care and supported PMB |
Politics › Re: FG Launches Probe Into Onnoghen’s 13-year Salary Account by gare(f): 8:12am On Jan 21, 2019 |
Ovamboland: Quite easily predictable, the two APC members in jail will never count. Oh they just discovered he didn't declare his assets, and he admitted to it. How does not trying the CJN's case make the anti corruption war more effective? If the CJN escapes punishment, how does that help you? How does it help the judiciary, civil service, kids watching and learning how we do things. What will be reference point if PDP comes back, that public officers were free not declare their assets correctly, and some in future argue like you that PDP government must not prosecute crimes? I am not against the CJN being investigated, but ask yourself what happened before he came into office, the government agencies ought to have found all this out then, they ought to have investigated his salaries, why now, they should wait until after the elections to do if they are really sincere. |
Politics › Re: FG Launches Probe Into Onnoghen’s 13-year Salary Account by gare(f): 8:09am On Jan 21, 2019 |
Ovamboland: And fairness in your opinion is to stop the government from prosecuting apprehended rapist, kidnappers, armed robbers because many in that category are still at large? Honestly your sense of fairness only kicks in when politics is involved, and you think that makes you trust worthy?
Even if Yussuf the president's son were to be accused of robbery or rape, and his father shields him from prosecution can you in all honesty campaign that all robbers and rapist caught henceforth must be let go until the president tries his son? And to hell with all the victim of robbery and rape?
It because you don't see the CJN'S infraction as a breach of trust against ordinary citizens, represented by our laws that must be investigated and tried. You see it only as a breach against Buhari, therefore it must be acceptable. He who comes into equity must come with clean hands, the Government wants to go after Corrupt PDP and Government Officials, then you must clean up your house if not read my first comments, anarchy sets in, lawlessness comes in, your example is so low of you, and what that tells me is that APC corrupt politicians should be allowed to go free, instead of you to stand and ensure that everyone involved in stealing from the nation is made to pay the price, you are here telling me of Yusuf committing a crime and being shielded then something is wrong with the Government, that is why PMB must Go, why would he be shielding criminals and you want others to be arrested |
Politics › Re: FG Launches Probe Into Onnoghen’s 13-year Salary Account by gare(f): 2:55am On Jan 21, 2019 |
For your information my type stand for Fairness and equity, I am not blind like you guys maybe for personal gain, I am not paid to peddle lies, APC government took of a very bad foundation, started badly even with the support it got for a lot of Nigerians, you will not tell me you are not aware of all the scandal that rocked this government and to you they seem OK, but you are very wrong, be it PDP or APC there should be no sacred cow, but when the APC have decided to turn a blind eye towards the millions of Corrupt politicians in its party and decide to go after that of the PDP, you want people to be quiet.
For your information people shout not because they support what the Politicians have done, but because the whole system lacks fairness, I was waiting for you to make references to the former SFG, Adeosun, Maina and many more that served and still serving under this government but instead you are talking of two PDP former Governors that had a case while in PDP, decamped to APC.
Not until we all have one voice and ensure whoever is corrupt is made to pay for, then people like you should your face in shame and never speak again |
Politics › Re: FG Launches Probe Into Onnoghen’s 13-year Salary Account by gare(f): 2:39am On Jan 21, 2019 |
[s] Ovamboland: I think you're the partial one here who has decided not to see anything good in whatever the government does. Even if it prosecutes and jails any member of it's party your type will say it's only because they fell out of favor or they challenged the powers that be. If they open probe on specific heist such as arms deal of years past, any sensible person will know that the then ruling party will not call members of the opposition party to come and disburse security funds. Mostly ruling party members, PDP, will be involved in sharing. But your types will say if the government is not able to open the deals done by Lord Lugard or Tafawa Balewa, then they should not prosecute the deals of the last few years.
If you're sincere, you will never say anyone indicted, whether you love him or hate him, from your region or religion, should be left in office because someone is yet to be indicted or convicted.
If you really love the country, you will insist the government pressed on with the charges on the CJN until he is cleared or convicted while not forgetting those who are ruling party members whose cases is not making good progress.
If the two former governors recently jailed after crossing to the ruling party are mentioned, you will find excuses why it doesn't count. The fact their trial took 11 years should tell any reasonable person that our judicial system is terribly broken, and the cases opened in the last three years might drag for as long if nothing is done. But for you lack of conviction is sweet to your ears, as it allows you say the government war against corruption has failed. Truth is your types hopes it never succeeds whether against PDP or APC members.
Your stance exposes your intentions is never to make the country a better and cleaner society but to protect the people you have affiliation with or to completely stop any kind of anti corruption fight where all can do as they wished. [/s] But none of its members have being jailed yet, they set an example, charity begins at home, my dear those two governors had a running case before they crossed over to APC their case was already in court with overwhelming evidence, so lets stop this people like you are part of the problem of this country there should be fairness and equity, when you lack both anarchy sets in, If the CJN has question to answer, first the start with who checked him out when he was about to be made CJN , why one month to elections, friends of the President now found out that he did not declare his assets. |
