It's only if they were living together that they may be asked to separate . For about a year.

But the story you gave is not true . How can the church mandate you to pay tithes before marriage . Is it anybody's business if I pay my tithe or not? It's between me and the God I worship.
Since you worship there why don't you find out, the main church may not be into that but some other branches of CEC could be into it, my brother in-law and the wife attend the church, and his has the right to choose the kind of gift he should be given, whenever you buy him a gift he would call you back to go and change it that he doesn't like the one you bought, that kind of pastor can stop your marriage because of tithes, so don't sit here and hold be the lawyer the church never made you.

A lot of these pastors see themselves as God, they can do and undo.

You forgot that Jonathan inherited a stable and rich purse with oil selling high, that he enjoyed sympathy and good will from all the first 4yrs of his 6yrs tenure, there was almost no opposition as AC was only SW party, until his lack of direction and resolve became evident to all that the "Ship's Captain" was not in control of his Ship.
You also forgot that it was GEJ's wife who started power tussle with and undermining Amaechi govt, that Amaechi was in PDP and he had to fight her and her husband who allowed his wife to fight a sitting govnor because Ameachi refused to be her puppet.
There was never anytime GEJ's wife wanted Amaechi as her puppet, please get your facts right, the issues they had was about the demolition of a water front in Okrika which she kicked against, I believe that issue was not properly manage from both side, but you seem to have digress from the main issues, which has to do PMB harrassing Fayose and Ekiti lawmakers.

I wouldn't want to go into Amaechi issues because I was never one of his fans, he may have done one or two sustainable projects but that doesn't justify the trillions he got from both IGR and federal allocation, there are still a lot he left uncompleted, there are some the money was disbursed but couldn't find the projects, some he sold Govt properties the money for the sales could not be found, people might call him all kind of names as there hero but he was never mine, with the kind of resources he had Rivers State would have being like Dubai.

We stand here and criticise the Federal Govt, but we leave the states and the LGA what did they all do with the money given to them. Or have we forgotten about the states ? So I would advice if there should be asking questions everybody should be asked or investigated.

Is that suppose to be the priority of Buhari at this time when the economy is so bad, then he would allocate resources to see that Fayose is jailed, if he continues on this path he may get his nose burnt.

A President that his country is on fire is there asking a question why he was overthrown, when he has not told us why he overthrew shagari,s government, this an issue of pot calling kettle black.

My issue with his style is that he doing the right thing at the very wrong time, allow Fayose to run is mouth, if you feel he is telling a lie or the truth let him be because they APC started it during GEJ government, so giving you back your own pill shouldn't get your angry, how many people did GEJ arrest or harassed, even when Amaechi threatened to form a parallel Govt, which you will agree with me is treasonable, Atiku and even Buhari himself committed alot with their utterances, but did anybody harrassing them?

This Govt needs to grow up and provide for its citizens rather than fight people every day, that will not put food on our table.

Okocha101:
What a State! This is a place where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices are bombed and completely set ablaze nine days before a scheduled election. We live in a part of Nigeria where a serving Governor openly threatens INEC officials and everyone turns around to each other in fear and pretend as if all is well. They have turned this State into a place where any Tom, Dick and Harry, can mount the podium and incite violence against any political opponent, without any reasonable response from the Police. This is Rivers State; welcome to Nigeria's political wild wild west.

The only thing that works here is violence. Violent speech, violent posture, violent thinking, violent politics, violent everything. These are very terrible times for Rivers people. Values and cultural ethos have been dumped on the pedestal of miserable and inordinate politicking. The rot is thickening, and with each passing day of these express verbal approvals of violence by persons who are supposed to be the custodians of the State, then I dare say that Rivers is headed for an inevitable political, economic, and social iceberg.

Kidnapping has unfortunately become a very lucrative business for political thugs cum criminals in Rivers State. No day goes by without the forceful abduction of innocent citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nobody is left out in this new criminal enterprise of former political assassins; taxi drivers, teachers, school pupils, students, police men, doctors, nurses, vendors, etc. Nobody is left out. The ransom for one kidnapped human being ranges between N20,000 and N20m depending on the perceived financial status of the victim. Night life is fading away like the flames of a dying fire; businesses are relocating. How did we get here?

Killings, beheadings, extreme violence, armed robberies, and all manner of barbaric atrocities have overtaken this once beautiful State. So, I ask again, how did we get here? Why did we allow politicians to take away our freedom to enjoy our lives in peace and security? Politicians? Yes, Politicians! I am talking about that Rivers Politician who sees politics as a lifetime time career. My focus is on that man or woman who swims in the river of superiority, to such a person, no other political ideology should strive in his or her neighborhood; is this slavery or politics?

The type of politics that is played in Rivers State is one which has balkanised families, marriages, communities, churches, civil society and even the corporate world. I am amazed at this type of politics. I am ashamed at this type of barbarism. It worries me day and night that I come from a State that practices the politics of "dog chop dog". It is nauseating to me. I hate this politics. This politics in the Rivers State Government House is a departure from civilised engagement.

Phrases like "rig and die", "right your will before coming to Rivers State", "rest in peace to INEC officials", "resist arrest", "If they slap you one time, slap them ten times" etc, are the only key components of speeches that are driven by boorish political sentiments rather than developmental outlook. This is certainly not the type of Rivers State that I want my children to grow up in. The amount of violence in the air is enough to melt the fabric of any sane society. Not here, violence reigns supreme here. It's all about the bloody quest of an unjust man for political power.

Politics is the only problem militating against the long overdue development and expansion of the Treasure Base of Nigeria. It is politics that has given guns and illegal privileges to the misguided youths of the State, all in a bid to win elections. It is politics that has stopped politicians in power from speaking up against violent vituperations coming from top government officials in the State. Politics is destroying Rivers State. Fellow Rivers Citizens, when shall we wake up from this nightmare of a frightening reality?

~ Solomon Okocha

Mr. Solomon, nice write up but you did your best to hide the source of your ideology but you gave yourself up with comments credited to the PDP, I was actually looking for a balance in your write up but never saw any, but do you know you're also guilty of what you have just wrote.

I thought your write up was meant to bring a balance in the system instead you're are taking sides, I like being objective whenever I argue, the problem in Rivers State is from both parties APC and PDP, I do have some level of sympathy for the PDP but I will not absolve them from current political unrest in the state, that doesn't mean the APC is also free, they both should learn to accommodate each other and be go winners and losers. And support the other, but it's not like that, since Jimi Agbaje lost in Lagos have you heard or seen him, is to that Ambode of Lagos is doing everything right no, politicians should learn to tolerate one another.

It's all a call to service not to war if you don't have the opportunity today tomorrow might be your turn as long as you're alive.

Mr. Solomon whenever you do a write up like this try and bring about a balance, since your motive is to bring about peace in the state, both parties should stop and rethink.

Politics › Re: Dr. Ikpeazu Is Operating Illegally As Governor - Festus Keyamo by gare(f): 5:55pm On Jul 13, 2016
LasgidiOnline:
Read his statement below...

On Monday, 27th day of June, 2016 the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja (Per Hon. Justice O. E. Abang) nullified the nomination of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for the 2015 Gubernatorial Election of Abia State and also his subsequent election as Governor of Abia State.
The Court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue a Certificate of Return to Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah, who scored the second highest number of votes in the primaries that produced Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

A thorough scrutiny of the judgment of the court will reveal that, contrary to widespread opinion that Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah’s case was that Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu presented forged tax papers to the Independent National Electoral Commission, his case was simply that Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu apparently rushed to pay all his backlog of taxes just before the elections, yet he swore to a false affidavit and supplied a false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission that he paid his taxes AS AT WHEN DUE. It was based on this false information that the court nullified his candidature.

OGAH’S CERTIFICATE OF RETURN

I have carefully listened to various arguments regarding the immediate issuance of a Certificate of Return to Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah by the Independent National Electoral Commission in strict compliance with the judgment of the Court. Contrary to opinions expressed in certain quarters there is no judicial decision or statutory provision preventing the Independent National Electoral Commission from complying immediately with the Orders of the Federal High Court. The provision of Section 143(1) of the Electoral Act, Part VIII that gives Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (or any other office holder for that matter) 21 days within which to file an appeal against an adverse judgment (and to remain in office until the appeal is determined) applies only to post-election matters before election Tribunals or the Court of Appeal and not pre-election matters as in this case.

In the circumstance, the Independent National Electoral Commission acted legally and correctly by instantly issuing a Certificate of Return to Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah.

WHY DR. OKEZIE VICTOR IKPEAZU MUST STEP DOWN IMMEDIATELY AS GOVERNOR OF ABIA STATE

It would have been permissible for Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu to continue in office as Governor of Abia State pending the outcome of the appeal despite the judgment of the Federal High Court (and the nullification of his Certificate of Return) if Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah had not been issued a Certificate of return instantly.

But having been issued a Certificate of Return, it is constitutionally abnormal and legally paradoxical that a person with a validly issued Certificate of Return should not occupy that office immediately, and the person with an invalidated Certificate of Return continues to occupy that office.

That is why the Interim Order restraining the Chief Judge of Abia State or any other Judicial Officer from swearing in Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah is a non-sequitor as the judgment of Abang J has already been complied with by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The scenario we have now is that of a person, without any document entitling him to that office, occupying the office of Governor of Abia State, whilst a person who has both a valid court judgment and a valid Certificate of Return is unable to assume office as Governor of the state.

Let the world know today that Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is operating illegally as Governor of Abia Sttae and all his actions, orders and anything done in that capacity are null, void and of no effect.

Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah should be sworn in immediately as Governor of Abia State pending the appeal lodged by Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu. That is the only way to go to enthrone legality in Abia State. The heavens will not fall.

Thank you.

NFF shortlists Yusuf, Saintfiet, Le Guen for Super Eagles’ chief coach job

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has shortlisted three coaches for consideration for the post of Chief Coach of Super Eagles, and will name the successful one on Monday.

A statement by the NFF on Friday in Abuja listed the three coaches to include Super Eagles’ caretaker coach Salisu Yusuf. The rest two are former Ethiopia coach Tom Saintfiet, and Frenchman Paul Le Guen, who once coached Cameroon.

“On Friday at the Glass House, the NFF Technical and Development Committee pored over more than 20 applications before cutting the list to three.

“Among those who showed interest in coaching the Super Eagles are Giovanni Solinas, Saintfiet, Hey Antoine, Mark Wotte, Yusuf, Ernesto Paulo Calvinho, Dorian Marin, and Le Guen. “Others are Miodrag Jesic, Perry Hansen, Ove Pedersen, Adebayo Lateef Kola, Sylvanus Okpala and Peter Ijeh. “The rest are Vladimir Petrovic-Pizon, Lodewijk de Kruif, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, Bjorn Frank Peters and Ricki Herbert,’’ the statement disclosed.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Saintfiet, a 43-year-old Belgian, has coached the national teams of Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Yemen, Malawi and Togo. He has also worked with the Qatar national under-17 side, Young Africans FC of Tanzania and Free State Stars FC in South Africa.

Yusuf, 54, was capped by Nigeria at under-20 level and won FA Cup titles with El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri as a player. He coached top clubs Kano Pillars, El-Kanemi Warriors and Enyimba FC, and assisted Super Eagles’ chief coaches Samson Siasia and Stephen Keshi (who died last month). Yusuf was caretaker coach for two friendly matches, which the Eagles won against Mali and Luxembourg in Europe at the end of May.

Frenchman Le Guen, 52, played for Brest, Nantes and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and won 17 caps for France, before coaching Rennes, Lyon, PSG (in France) and Glasgow Rangers (in Scotland). He led the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals and also coached Oman.

Speaking on the development, Chairman of NFF’s Technical and Development Committee, Chris Green, said the shortlist was on the basis of a set of criteria. “We set a criteria with which we evaluated the nearly two dozen applications and then agreed on the three persons that we shortlisted. “The Committee will now meet on July 18 to interview the shortlisted candidates and immediately name the next Super Eagles’ Head Coach,” he said.

agabusta:
EXCLUSIVE: Nigeria, Indian firm reach agreement on Ajaokuta Steel Company

Barring any last minute change in plans, an amicable resolution of the ownership crisis surrounding the Ajaokuta Steel Complex might be reached early August when the Nigerian government and Messrs Global Steel Holdings Limited, and Indian firm, are scheduled to sign terms of settlement.

The signing of the terms of settlement will free Ajaokuta Steel Complex from all contractual encumbrances that had left it uncompleted and non-functional for decades, PREMIUM TIMES has learned.

Negotiations for amicable resolution of the ownership crisis of the foremost steel company has dragged on since 2008, leaving the country’s steel and industrial sectors largely paralysed.

Those familiar with the negotiations told PREMIUM TIMES President Muhammadu Buhari had already given approval for the execution of the “modified concession agreement with Global Steel Holdings Limited, following reports of the mediation meetings forwarded to him from the Justice ministry.”

The mediation meetings, reliable sources said, recently held in London, United Kingdom.
The London meetings followed months of negotiations between the Federal Government and Global Steel Holdings, coordinated by an international mediator, Phillip Howell-Richardson.

The Nigerian government’s team to the series of meetings was led by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi, whose ministry is responsible for the steel sector, our sources said.
The team also comprised top officials of the Ministry of Solid Minerals development and Ministry of Justice.

The Chairman of GSHL, Prammod Mittal, led the consortium’s team to the meetings.
Insiders said part of the agreements reached during the last meeting was that the Ajaokuta Steel Complex reverts to the Nigerian government fully, while its sister company, Nigerian Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO) would be retained by GSHL under existing concession agreement but with Ajaokuta plant gaining priority access to the iron ore from NIOMCO.

President Buhari has repeatedly promised to diversify the Nigerian economy and create jobs through agriculture and extraction of solid minerals.

Mr. Fayemi, who resumed work as Minister of Solid Minerals Development on November 11, 2015, had in many fora restated the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that the AjaokutaSteel Complex is revitalised.

The multi-billion dollar Ajaokuta Steel Company is regarded as one steel complex with capacity to help trigger the much-needed industrialisation of the country as well as stimulate growth in the iron and steel sub sector.

Several investors had expressed interest in the completion and running of the plant, including the Russian and Ukranian original builders of the plant; a Chinese consortium and many indigenous steel companies.

Sources at the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development said once all encumbrances have been removed, government would conduct a transparent bid exercise that would be determined purely by technical competence and financial capacity.

Global Steel could not be reached for comments Friday, but the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development confirmed serious negotiation was apace.

Olayinka Oyebode, the chief press secretary to Minister Fayemi said he was aware of the ongoing negotiation, but that he had no mandate from to divulge its details.

Global steel is a fruad, you guys should go to DSC and see what they did there, they will tear the plant down and ship all the parts back to India, OBJ brought them to buy DSC and that was what they did, this govt should carry due diligence before they sell this company, if not it's going to be story that touch.

Welcome to Rivers where you meet all sorts of mentality and sentiments.

Ogoni people do not know that they should be fighting for the upgrade of RivPoly into a university after so many years of its existence, their grouse is because RivCAS is being upgraded to Polytrcnic. So others should not make progress because the Ogonis failed to make progress. Buch of backward people.

@topic, it has been confirmed that Aniedi Ikoiwak benefitted from contracts when Wike was minister of Education.
Who and where was it confirmed it, we should not be carried away by baseless gossip, you should understand how the REC got to Rivers State, Wike didn't effect the transfer of the REC to Rivers State, so all this rumours and lies shouldn't be listened to, but if you say it has been confirmed please kindly name your source

*If you compare what Buhari has done for the Niger Delta region with what our son and brother, Goodluck Jonathan, did for six and a half years, you will agree that Buhari has done better in one year.*

I don't know if there are two countries called Nigeria, maybe i am leaving in a different Niger Delta region, what has PMB done in this region since he assumed office, what is the basis for comparison, I wouldn't want to insult them because they are elders, but will prefer they remain quiet if they have nothing good to say, it's not a must everybody must comment on national issues.

You are not from Ogoni.
Leave Magnus Abe for us because we love him, we will vote for him nomatter what party he joins.
Wike deprived us of students (renaming a college to polytechnic).
Mind your business and leave Ogonis to do what pleases them.
You can see how narrow minded you're, so you ogonis are not happy or you and your cohorts are not happy that Wike upgraded college of Art and science to a polytechnic, shame on you people, that's is the kind mind set your leader Abe has, sorry to disappoint you Abe will not win

Ndlistic:
PORT HARCOURT—Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has denied allegation that he had any business link with the current Rivers State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak when he was Minister of State for Education.

Senator Magnus Abe had alleged recently that the state Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, boss was a contractor in the ministry when the governor was a Minister, stressing that he should be stopped from conducting the rerun elections.

Abe had also accused the REC of allegedly skewing the last rerun elections in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in appreciation to the governor for the alleged contracts he got while Wike was Minister.

But reacting, Wike who spoke through the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr Austin Tam-George said that the allegations by the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate for the Rivers South East senatorial district, Abe, were tissues of lies, and a clear show of his desperation.

His words: “Faced with his imminent defeat in the forthcoming legislative rerun polls in Rivers State, Senator Abe has started a campaign of calumny and vilification against Governor Wike and INEC officials in Rivers State.

“Abe’s latest allegation that Governor Wike had a previous business relationship with the current INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State is a grotesque fabrication.

“Governor Wike categorically denies any form of business association with any INEC official, in the past or at present.”

Abe don't you think it's time to give up, there's no lies for you to tell, if the REC had dealings with Wike I don't think there would be any inconclusive election, even if you bring in external persons for this election you will still loose. The blood of those you killed in Ogoni land will never allow you win elections, you brought in the Army to kill your people all in the name of politics shame on you.

There's nothing left for ask your master to help get you something, you keep following Amaechi every time he prefers Dakuku to you and still you will not get sense, the first time he choose him over you as governor, still you kept following him, now he gave him an appointment, gave his mistress Ibim and you are still there telling lies, I pity you so much because you don't seem to understand that there's nothing to fight for, you are a back stabber and this is your punishment.
Politics › Re: READ Ooo!! Why Rivers May Never Know Peace As Long As Wike Is Governor by gare(f): 12:41pm On Jul 07, 2016
Zubby56:
Today, Rivers State in Nigeria is termed as the ‘Rivers of blood’. To some of us who share a bond with this State, it pains us so much when such description is used for our dear State. Before divulging into the main aim of this treatise and for avoidance of doubt and for clarity, Rivers State is the hub of the oil industry in Nigeria and very rich in hydrocarbons, from which the nation draws its major revenue. The strategic importance of Rivers State in the socio-economic and political future of Nigeria cannot, therefore, be over-emphasised. A recent investigation by theEconomic Confidentiallisted Rivers State among four rich states in Nigeria, including Lagos, Delta, Ogun and Edo.
The fact remains that Rivers State has over the years evolved as the oil and gas nerve-centre of Nigeria. It has a growing population of about 5.1 million (the sixth most populous state in the country) and an impressive GDP of 21.07 billion USD – which is bigger than that of most African countries, such as Botswana, Rwanda, Nambia, Lesotho, etc. The enviable economic and socio-political scorecard of Rivers State has made it a war theatre, occasioned by some unscrupulous politicians that use the youths to cause deaths, mayhem among the citizenry of the state. Sadly, today, the state is confronted with security challenges, especially illegal bunkering, piracy, cultism, oil pipes destruction, kidnapping, armed robbery, political killings, etc.
This article, therefore, is influenced by the rise of kidnapping, heinous murders, criminal activities and other insecurity challenges in Rivers State. And, as a patriotic Nigerian, I intend to examine the causes of the recent rise in insecurity in the state and proffer suggestions on the way forward. This becomes imperative to avoid falling into the trap of late EmperorHaile Selassieof Ethiopia’s famous words: “Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who should have known better, the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most that has made it possible for evil to triumph.”
Genesis of current insecurity in Rivers State
The current state of insecurity in Rivers can be anchored and situated on two principal developments in the politics of the state: the gubernatorial ambition of Chief Nyesom Wike; and the political battle between Dr Goodluck Jonathan, erstwhile President of Nigeria and former Governor of Rivers State and incumbent Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi..
Wike’s ambition and creation of the ‘Rivers of blood’
Chief Wike’s ambition to succeed Amaechi as the governor of Rivers State may be shocking to most political watchers. It started from his days as chief of staff to the then Governor Amaechi. The fact remains that while Amaechi was busy providing dividends of democracy to the people, Wike, on the other hand, was busy undermining Amaechi and using all the connections and goodwill of the Rivers State Government not only to station his men in strategic positions in government, but to empower most of them financially through award of contracts, initiation and other means. He tested the ground of his ambition when he was appointed as the director- general for the re-election of Amaechi as governor of Rivers State in 2011. A position he ensured that only his men were appointed to strategic fields to serve as key mobilisers at the grassroots level. By the time he was appointed minister of state in the Ministry of Education, based on the recommendation of Amaechi to Dr Jonathan, Wike went further with his gubernatorial ambition plot by forming theGrassroots Development Initiative(GDI), a political pressure group he used to deceive the public, that it was formed to assist in the re-election of then President Jonathan; but, in fact, the outfit was formed to pursue his gubernatorial ambition. He used the outfit to formally recruit his foot soldiers for the battle ahead. Under our nose, this body was heavily financed and motivated, and its presence was established in all the constituencies of Rivers State.
It was this group that he used to dislodge over 11 key Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members that wanted to contest the 2015 governorship election under the PDP platform. Those that wanted to play games were properly beaten up and molested at the party’s national secretariat at Abuja. Before this time, Wike, based on political exigency, tactfully suppressed his gubernatorial ambition from public view. Instead, he offered himself as a tool to spearhead the political battle between Jonathan and Amaechi. He gave everything within him to execute this, with the PDP ticket as a target.
How Jonathan and Wike created the ‘Rivers of blood’
Genesis of the creation of ‘Rivers State of blood’by Jonathan and Wike stemmed from claims and rumour developed and spread around by members of their camp to win the hearts of Rivers people to their devious plot. That is, that the then Governor Amaechi will contest the office of the president or vice president with a candidate from the northern part of the country come 2015, thereby truncating the second-term ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan who is from the same geo-political zone (South-south). This strategy sold like wide fire in the region. And, based on this evil assumption, Jonathan, using Wike as a tool, resolved to create the type of Rivers State we now have, where lives make no meaning.
Despite Amaechi’s great show of love to former President Jonathan, and in order to humiliate and annihilate him politically, the following steps were adopted. A few instances may suffice: A private jet of the Rivers State Government was grounded for no just cause; the PDP structure in Rivers State was taken away from Amaechi; his election as Chairman of Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), which was duly certified and widely acknowledged, was annulled by President Jonathan and his cohorts; he also supported the destruction of the once vibrant NGF by supporting 16 governors against 19. Besides, on May 27, 2013 Amaechi was suspended from the PDP, a party he so much loved and spent so much to build. They followed this up with his expulsion. Indeed, if not for divine providence, he would have been illegally impeached by five legislators (Chinda, Kelechi Godspower Nwogu (Omuma), Evans Bapakaye Bipi (Ogu/Bolo), Martins Amaewhule (Obio/Akpor I) and Victor Ihunwo (Port Harcourt III) who were loyal to the then Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, in a House of 32 members. Jonathan withdrew the security details attached to Amaechi, As if these were not enough, the president used state power to prevent Amaechi, then a sitting governor, from reaching Ekiti, in the South-western part of the country, to support the re-election of Dr Kayode Fayemi, because they were in the opposition then. Above all, a Police Commissioner by name Mr Joseph Mbu was posted to Rivers State to haunt, harass, torement, insult and abuse Amaechi publicly.
Apart from all the listed humiliating attacks against Amaechi, some oil wells formerly Rivers State were re-allocated to neighbouring sister-states – Baylesa and Akwa Ibom – thereby denying the state billions of naira. And to demonstrate his hatred for Rivers State, because of Amaechi, Jonathan took the proposed biggest dockyard in Africa meant for Bonny in Rivers State to Lagos State. When he lost the election, he revoked the project that was already 40 percent done. He equally stopped the implementation of the cleaning up of Ogoni land, renovation of the Port Harcourt International Airport as well as repair of major federal roads in the state.
Notable reactions to the siege
Prof Tam David-West, an illustrious son of Rivers State and a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, said: ‘Amaechi is an innocent man and his travails illustrate the Nigerian paradox, where excellence is relegated to the background and mediocrity is elevated. I’m particularly worried about the trend, not only because I am a Rivers State elder, not only because I am a strong supporter of Amaechi without any regret, I am also worried as a Nigerian; because what is happening to Amaechi underscores a terrible Nigerian paradox: which I call the paradox of excellence. We support him because those of us who grew up in Port Harcourt as a famous Garden City knew how the city changed to a rotten city. And Amaechi, who is also a Port Harcourt boy, returned the city back to its glorious garden city status. Any person that does not realise this is not only blind, but terrible.’
This great sage reminded Amaechi’s opponents thathe who laughs last, laughs best. He added, with emphasis, that the governor would laugh last, because his first name, Chibuike, means ‘God is strength.’ Though, David-West’s words came to pass as Amaechi ought to be laughing after sending Jonathan's evil PDP packing from the centre, but he is a very sad man as Wike has turned his beloved Rivers State to a slaughter house.
I don't see the essence of this write up, from my on point of view this article is not necessary, nothing to learn from, I will advice you guys to leave Wike alone, APC start early and start preparing for 2019, do more you continue all this fight it will continue to lead to destruction of the state,

The so call saint Amaechi you guys cherish and reverence, knows what he did in Rivers State, his house in Abuja that's worth over 5billion, you will not tell me he saved his money from being a speaker to governor to acquire that property. Allow this state to remain in peace so even if you eventually come to power you will inherit a peaceful state.

All this spoil for war should be played down, we need peace in the state, don't come here and paint Wike bad and call Amaechi a saint, stop it as far as I am concern your analysis are from Newspapers stand analysis. Stop misleading people.

The effcc has asked people to refund money.. if ameachi is among I know he would return tho (just saying)
Are you aware that several petition has been sent to EFCC concerning Amaechi, but the agency will not do anything, you must be aware of the petition from Lagos state concerning Fashola to EFCC but still nothing is done, but you're also aware that does they are going after now never had any petition written against them.

I am not against the fight on corruption, but there should be fairness, Amaechi, Fashola, and the rest of them have no biz in this Govt, they all should be probed and investigated too and this reason why a lot of people have concerns about this fight on corruption.

With the way you reason, I doubt if this country will ever move forward, everyone is saying that all that stole money should return their loot you're there taking sides, ok Amaechi never stole? Those that EFCC are trying at the moment was there any probe committee set before they were arrested.

We must all have one mind and ensure that everyone that stole should made to return it's loots back be it PDP, APC or any other party, but when we take side like this I wonder how the future of this country will be like. Please you guys should try and get some sense

Where does Kayode Fayemi want to get 1.5 billion to donate? Or is Ekiti Lagos or Rivers state? Fayemi was already out of government months before PMB even won primaries. This doesn't make sense.
What does not make sense? That Fayemi didn't steal the money or that Fayemi didn't not donate money to PMB campaign?

The fact that Fayemi was out of government doesn't mean he didn't not steal the money when he was in government to save the money in Ghana.

So does this make sense now, useless people, it is people like you that's setting this country backwards, why can't you guys just stand for the truth and fight against injustice, why can't you guys stand and ensure that everyone whether PDP, APC or APGA that stole our money are punished for it instead you sit and take side with what is wrong. God will certainly punish all generations yet on born.
