freelancer10: More revelations have emerged on the alleged conspiracy of the US in the electoral defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. Jonathan had claimed that former American President Barack Obama, was responsible for his loss. Jonathan had said, “President Barack Obama and his officials made it very clear to me by their actions that they wanted a change of government in Nigeria and we’re ready to do anything to achieve that purpose. They even brought some naval ships into the Gulf of Guinea in the days preceding the election.” Meanwhile, the US has since denied the allegation, insisting that Jonathan lost the election because Nigerians wanted him out. In an advance copy of ‘Against the Run of Play’, a book written by Segun Adeniyi, Babangida Aliyu, former Niger state governor and ex-chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, gave a hint of possible US involvement in the electoral defeat of Jonathan. He said the Obama administration invited 12 northern governors to the US to ascertain their level of commitment to removing Jonathan. Aliyu said, although he had no proof of this, but expressed the belief that the reason for their invitation to the US was deeper than discussing the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria. “I have no proof of course, but I think the idea was to ascertain what the disposition of the north would be to the idea of another term for President Jonathan. “That was my reading of the situation. I believe it was all about the 2015 election for which the Americans had resolved not to support Jonathan. They just wanted to size us up for the level of commitment to regime change,” Aliyu said. Aliyu said in one of the sessions, Murtala Nyako, former Adamawa state governor, accused Jonathan of sponsoring Boko Haram with the intent of destroying the north. He added that Nyako’s accusation signalled to the Americans that the north was not in support Jonathan’s re-election bid. “If Jonathan had been clever enough to say he would not run and had stuck with the PDP zoning formula by supporting a young northern candidate, I am most certain Buhari would have shelved his ambition to contest in 2015, knowing there was no way he would win,” he said. The book, which details how Jonathan lost the 2015 election, will be launched on Friday.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Don't Tell The Interviewer About Yourself, This Is What He Really Wants To Hear by gare(f): 7:29am On Apr 27, 2017 |
zazawaga: Simple Ways to Answer Tricky Interview Questions
A couple of years ago, my idea of a job interview was being in front of a hard, unsmiling panel and having extremely difficult questions thrown at me, like rocks. However, when I got invited for my first interview, I realized this is not always the case.
A job interview does not have to be tense. In fact, you may find yourself with a very friendly panel, who will go all out to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
However, irrespective of the size and manner of the panel you are faced with, what is required of you is confidence and of course, the appropriate answers to every question you are asked. This part is what’s tricky.
So, in this post, we’d be looking at the simple ways to answer 5 tricky questions you are likely to get in your job interview.
1. Tell Me About Yourself.
This question seems very straightforward. Usually, the first you’d be asked in an interview. However, it is tricky because though it sounds like an invitation to tell your life story, it is not.
When asked the ‘tell me about yourself’ question, what the hiring panel is actually asking you is to tell them about yourself, as it pertains to the position you are applying for.
With this in mind, you should not begin to share generic information about yourself, your family or how many siblings you have. Rather, you could start with your name, academic qualifications, present skills and strengths, previous experiences as well as future professional aspirations. You should also feel free to ask the interviewers for clarifications, just in case there are specific information they’d like to hear about.
Take this for instance:
Question: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Wrong Answer: Hmmn, where do I start? My name is Oluwaseun. I was born in the late 80s and currently married with 6 kids. …
Right Answer: My name is Oluwaseun, a second-year master’s student of marketing communications at the Lagos Business School. Prior to pursing this degree, I worked with the marketing and communications department at Shell, where I developed and honed my skills in copywriting and digital marketing. This experience really piqued my interest in this field and I look forward to an opportunity to learn more and contribute to your marketing communications department…
2. Where do you See Yourself in Five Years?
This question is tricky because you might be tempted to say everything you see yourself doing in five years and completely miss the mark. Like the first question, your answer should be much more professional than personal. What the hiring panel really wants to know is if you are going to stick with them and if you are worth the investment of training.
To answer this question, you could tell them how you think the job will provide you with so many opportunities, such that in 5 years, you'd be in a particular position within the organisation. You can also explain what value you hope to have added as well as how you could also have improved yourself professionally in that time.
Take this for instance:
Question: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Wrong Answer: In five years, I’d be a millionaire, enjoying life. I’d have built a house and would probably be the CEO of this company …
Right answer: In five years, I hope to have acquired a lot of knowledge in marketing communications, as well as contributed immensely to the growth of my department and the company. I’m also looking forward to eventually taking on additional managerial responsibilities and possibly taking the lead on some projects…
3. What is your Greatest Weakness?
Like the first two, this question is also very tricky because you might be tempted to give personal, instead of professional answers.
When asked this question, what interviewers actually want to know is if or not you are consciously aware of the areas you could improve on. Your weakness does not have to be present. It could be something that you’ve already worked on, but say it anyway. I’d advise that you think about this question before the interview, so you don’t give a generic answer or be at a loss of what to say. No one would believe you if you say you have no weakness.
To answer this question, start by mentioning the weakness, how it poses a problem to your work or career and how you’ve started to work on improving.
Take this for instance:
Question: What is your greatest weakness?
Wrong answer: Hmmn, my greatest weakness is to sleep. I could sleep all day…
Right answer: I used to have to have a problem with time management and this affected me every time I tried to multitask. Currently, I’m working on this through the use of certain time management tools.
4. What did you Hate About your Last Job?
This question is tricky because you might be tempted to spill all the beans about why you hated your boss, the work, the timing - all of it! This is wrong, because as Kachi Tila-Adesina puts it, the interviewers might already begin to picture you sitting elsewhere and literally dragging their name and their organisation in the mud as well.’
To answer this question, start by saying how beneficial the job was, before going to state one or two things you could have changed, if given the opportunity. Also, explain why you think the role you are now applying for is a better fit.
If you did not hate your last job, you can say so. This response can also be adapted, just in case you are asked why you are leaving your current position.
Take this for instance:
Question: What did you hate about your last job?
Wrong answer: Ooh, my boss! I hated my boss! …
Right answer: Well, my last job did offer me an opportunity to learn and grow in my career. However, I think it would have been better if such opportunity was granted in a less hostile work environment... I believe that working here would not just give me a better opportunity to grow, but also a conducive and comfortable work environment, which is very important to growth.
5. How much are you looking to be paid?
Now, this question is tricky because well, money is involved and while you don’t want to short-change yourself, you wouldn’t want to price yourself out of range either!
I know money is very important but when asked this question, don’t jump at the opportunity to scream ‘one million naira!’ Instead, you should have done your research on the organisation you are coming into and how much is standard for the role you are applying for.
If you are aware of how much the company really wants to hire you, say because of your expertise and skills, you can negotiate your salary right there. However, if this is not the case, you’ll need to fall back on the information you’ve gathered on what the going rate is, for the position you’re being interviewed for. In the worst case scenarios, you can request to know more about the role’s responsibilities and benefits packages. You should also mention how you are willing to discuss further when the time is right.
Take this for instance:
Question: How much are you looking to be paid?
Wrong answer: I can’t take anything less than ‘One million naira’!
Right answer: That's a fair question. To answer it properly, I'd need to know more about the role’s responsibilities and benefits package. I am quite confident that knowing the reputation of the company, when the time comes, any offer you make will be competitive.”

BlowBack: The level and zeal at which the transplanted shills of Alausa now posting from BMC, Utako at which they are defending Amaechi and denouncing anyone who links Amaechi to the recovered loot is mind boggling.
For the past few months BMC has sort of gone cold as they seem unable to defend the indefensible Clueless Buhari administration but since Ikoyigate, the BMC have returned to their latest Alausa tactics of licking their own posts, derailing and deflecting blame from Amaechi (who happens to be the owner of the stolen funds) to attacking Wike, Fayose, FFK and any other person who points the stolen loot to Amaechi.
Do we blame them? After all, they love Amaechi but HATE Wike in Osun.

TV/Movies › Re: Bbnaija: 5 Reasons Why Tboss Will Most Likely Win - Segun Odejimi by gare(f): 1:56pm On Apr 06, 2017 |
ahmedkoded95: Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of TBoss noise going around. It is either from those who think TBoss is the greatest thing that has happened to Nigeria after the oil boom, or it is from those who think she is a modern day Delilah who shouldn’t even be allowed to breathe.
Whatever you think of her, though, you cannot erase the fact that she has found her way to the finals of Big Brother Naija (#BBNaija), a competition which has equally divided opinion among the hypocrites, not-so-hypocrites and the die-hard fans.
During her stroll to the finals, I have read several ridiculous theories about how she is dating Big Brother, how the whole world hates her (I even saw a video on that! SMH), how every man she kisses on the show gets evicted and so on.
Let me put it on record here that I also do not like her personality a lot. If we were going by personalities, Efe will get my nod – easily.
1. She is the most marketable
Yes, there are three women (duh!) in the finals and yes, there are two men (duh!). But when you are picking the most marketable #BBNaija winner, it has to be TBoss. She is the prettiest (leave hating jor) and she is the most well-spoken of all the ladies. Apart from that, she is the one that looks most like a celebrity. Ah-mean, whatawetalkingabout? She’s F**.Cking yellow!
2. She’s the only one with an obvious been-to factor
I don’t know if the others can claim to have been-to, but once you see TBoss, you see a been-to. And while this ought to fall under making her the most marketable, I have decided to allow this reason stand alone. It is that big a reason, that’s why. Been-to-ness in Nigeria is a big deal and she sure fits it.
3. She is the most controversial of the remaining five. Who else divides opinion like she does? Who among the remaining housemates vying for the N25million has had this much conspiracy theory thrown at them?
We have heard of how all the boys she has kissed got evicted. We have heard how the duvet with which she sleeps is cursed. We have heard of how Big Brother has a crush on her and has kept her on because of that. We have heard this, we have heard that. Everywhere you turn, it is TBoss this, that girl that. If controversy sells, she will be richer than that boy, Mark.
4. That babe is the most interesting character.
Do I have to talk about how interesting she has been since the show started? Well, apart from the fact that she doesn’t dance much at house parties. You might want to say Bisola is interesting but there is a thin line that separates being interesting and being talented. Bisola is one talented woman but forget…when it comes to in-ta-res-tina, there is only one win-na.
5.TBoss has luck on her side.
A lot of it. Football fans will understand this a lot. Remember Greece in Euro 2008? Leicester City in EPL 2016? And Chelsea in that UEFA CL they won with Roberto DiMatteo as manager? Cool

'They've started dropping bodies in Bori. One last night, this one a few minutes ago. See how they blew his brains out with a G3.Do anyone else still think there is a government in Rivers State? We all know how they got these guns. This is a direct result of the sophisticated weapons shipped into Rivers State by Goodluck Jonathan and Nyesom Wike in their desperate bid to take power by all means from a very popular governor in 2015. We've had crime in the state before, there is nowhere in the world where there is no crime, but when such crime is backed by the state and allowed to proliferate at an alarming rate, then it would take an equal and opposite measure to restore peace in that area. Does Wike have the political will to fight the criminals who brought him to power? No! He is appointing their leaders as caretaker chairmen all over the state and giving them every back-up to thrive. This is not an issue of Ogoni. It has happened in other parts of the state before, and if it has not happened in your area, then know that it is coming. This is the time to pile pressure on Nyesom Wike to take action against his boys... Whether he believe he caused it or not, it is his job to protect lives and properties. Enough is enough, all Rivers people cannot die because he wants to return to power in 2019'.

We should be guided on how we talk and present issues. |
Politics › Re: Wike Promoting Hate, Disunity Between APC, PDP Members In Niger-delta – Sen. Abe by gare(f): 6:06pm On Feb 14, 2017 |
Handsome777: The Senator representing Rivers South East constituency in the red chambers, Magnus Abe, has accused Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, of fanning the embers of hate and disunity among the people the Niger-Delta along party lines.
He made the accusation while addressing the Acting-President, Yemi Osinbajo in Port-Harcourt on Tuesday. Abe said the government of Rivers State was not ready for peace in spite of all entreaties made by the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He complained that members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with the backing of the government had been antagonizing members of APC in the state, but vowed that they would not succumb to blackmail and provocation.
Abe explained that members of PDP pulled down the banners which APC erected to welcome Osinbajo to the state yesterday. He also lamented the shutting-out of all members of the APC except the minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, from attending the Town Hall meeting that took place at the government house yesterday.
The Senator decried the discrimination meted out to APC members in the state House of Assembly by governor Wike because of their political affiliation.
He said: “I’m sure that in the 24 hours you have spent in River state that you have come to find that there are deep fault-lines in River state. And, you have seen with your own very eyes what all the evidence in this country has been pointing to you that there is a problem here.
“Yesterday, people talked so much about unity. How we are all united, and how what was happening in government house united the position of all Rivers people. But let me say that unity is not what we do or what we say when the Acting-President of Nigeria is seated and all the television stations in the country are tuned in to what we are doing.
“Unity is what we do when the cameras are not there or the Acting-President is not there. As a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, I did not receive an invitation to yesterday’s Town Hall meeting. It was at the airport that your own staff now tried to give us invitations. That is not an act that will promote unity and that why we did not come.
“The Rivers state House of Assembly has 32 members. Out of the 32, the six members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are the only six people that take taxis to the Assembly all the other members drive cars that were bought by Rivers state government, and the governor tells us that it is his personal contribution to the House, and these other six people are not entitled. In an atmosphere of that nature, it is clear that there can be no unity, because it is not the words that are said in the front of television cameras that will bring unity, it is the actions that we take when nobody is watching.
“We have gone through a lot as Rivers people because of the situation that has been ousted on us in this state. And, we want to use this opportunity to call on the federal government to make a very clear and decisive to try bring peace to River state.
“In this Niger-Delta, there is an attempt to mark those of us who are member of the APC as if we have committed treason by joining this party but this party is registered under the laws of Nigeria, and we have a constitutional right to belong to any political association of our choice.
“Yesterday we put up our banners to welcome you to the state. A prominent member of the PDP had the boldness and the effrontery to go to banners of the APC welcoming you to Rivers state to physically, pull them down. We have reported that to the Nigerian police. We believe that action must be taken so that the impunity that existed before can no longer exist under this administration.
“Those who want peace in our state should learn to respect those who have contributed to the state. The former governor of Rivers state was seated there, the present governor could not even acknowledge his predecessor in office. Is that the action of people who want unity? Is that the action of people who want peace? Is that the action of people who want Rivers state to move forward?
In his response, Acting-President Osinbajo called on the members of the APC in the state to eschew violence but pursue peace with all men stressing that political violence will disrupt the on-going plans of the federal government for the region and deprive them of meaningful development.
“As time goes on, one thing I want to say to all of us especially those of us who are strong and active members of the APC, let me say to you that peace is the most important quality we need. We are the government at the centre.
“For the first time, we are there at the centre. This is not the time to make war. No!. This is the time to make peace. So that we can ensure that we derive all of the benefits that are derivable from the centre.
“If we are violent, and we are answering violence with violence, we will end up destroying everything. War does not end. It is our duty to overcome evil with good.
“The future of APC is bright given the caliber of people we have in the APC, don’t let us spoil everything by engaging in any form of violence or confusion let us stay a steady course.
“The APC is going to achieve everything we have said we will achieve. Don’t worry. Today is opposition, tomorrow is victory,” he said.
