From the topic I just guessed that this write up is solely directed towards smearing the anti-corruption campaign, and reading through I was indeed right.

You have a party (pdp) that has solely been in power for 16yrs. So please who else do u expect the administration to hold accountable?? Last I checked, membership of a political party is not an excuse not to be prosecuted, moreso that all who have so far been apprehended have never claimed to be innocent. Infact, it is the people caught that keep indicting others, so I dont know how the writer will expect efcc to block its ears when Dasuki mentions Dokpesi or Metuh's name, simply because they are in opposition.

All together this write up makes no sense!
It will make no sense to you because PDP are saying they should not be held accountable for what happened in the nation, I wonder how you guys reason, a state like Lagos that experienced a lot corrupt act during Fashola reign as govt you go and hold PDP, Rivers State that end as an APC state that the governor sold all government asset and took the money it's PDP also you would hold responsible.

Do tend to forget it's not just does that are being held now, what about minister, Governors, Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, what are they doing about them, get everyone be it PDP, APC and APGA you don't select and still want people to clap for you, no it will not happen, you can't have peace where there is no justice

Then maybe they should petition the efcc if they feel they mismanaged state fund in anyway and let the public know if the efcc refuse to take due action..I think efcc is more into federal fund (campaign fund)...
So what about the APC campaign funds ? Is that a now go area, what we should be working towards in this country is how we strengthen institutions like EFCC to independent, not an arm or tool of the presidency, they shouldn't be called or petition to do their job.

If we continue like this we would destroy this count because of personal gains, I have never in any way directly or indirectly benefited from this politicians, most of you here are working for them, we try and apply fairness in all we do, if EFCC is looking at the PDP campaign funds they should do same to all other parties, this pattern of fighting just your opposition while a lot of your members are neck deep in corruption is wrong, after PMB leaves office are we going talk about fighting corruption again, or if APC wins in 2019 what will they be shouting then, or will then still be blaming the previous govt.

It's never too late to do the right thing, but this path Is leading to destruction if we continue like this, if we desire peace in this nation then we should fight against injustice.
Politics › Re: Ojukwu Was A Great Prophet--Femi Adesina by gare(f): 7:59am On Jun 21, 2016
histemple:
IN RETROSPECT: OJUKWU WAS A PROPHET

By Femi Adesina

I tell you, Ojukwu was a prophet, and like most prophets, he had no honour in his own country.
In December 2009, I was at Aburi, while holidaying in Ghana. We Nigerians call it A-b-u-r-i, but the Ghanaians pronounce it as E-b-r-i. For those who have read widely about the civil war that we fought between 1967 and 1970, Aburi is a significant place. This was what I wrote about Aburi, after returning from that journey:
“Aburi. Beautiful, serene Aburi, set daintily atop a hill. It is home to a botanical garden that is 119 years old. But for us in Nigeria, Aburi goes beyond just nature and its preservation. It is the town where General Yakubu Gowon and Odumegwu Ojukwu met, to try and avert the Nigerian Civil War that lasted between 1967 and 1970. They came out with Aburi Accord, which later broke down. And a shooting war started. You could see the Presidential Lodge on a hill, where the Nigerian leaders had parleyed at the behest of Ghanaian leaders. It all ended in futility.”

As one of the key parties to the Aburi Accord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, returns to mother earth today, it is also apposite to return to Aburi, and look at the letter and the spirit of the accord once again, an agreement that was violated by the Federal side, and which made a bloody internecine war inevitable.
For most part of 1966, the northern part of Nigeria, particularly, had been turned to killing fields. Non-natives, especially Igbos, were killed in thousands. Many fled, many others were displaced. There was complete anarchy in the land. The average Igbo looked up to Lt. Col Odumegwu Ojukwu, military governor of the Eastern Region, to provide leadership and direction. He did not fail. He picked the gauntlet and championed the cause of his people.

By January 1967, the drums of war were loud and clear, reverberating across the length and breadth of Nigeria. But there was a last ditch effort to prevent what was imminent. There was a peace meeting hosted at Aburi, in Ghana, by the then Ghanaian head of state, Gen J. A. Ankrah. At the meeting were Gowon, Ojukwu, all the military governors of the regions, and some top civil servants, both from the Federal side and the Eastern region. The meeting held on January 4 and 5, 1967, and came out with what is popularly known today as the Aburi Accord.

The agenda of the meeting consisted of three crucial issues: (i) Reorganization of the Armed Forces (ii) Constitutional agreement (iii) Issues of displaced persons within Nigeria.
“Let every region be semi-autonomous and develop at its own level.” Yes, that was the spirit and letter of Aburi, but which sadly became a road not taken. And is that not why we are still suffering today, living in a rickety and decrepit country that can burst at the seams any moment? The two-day meeting reached consensus that were acceptable to both sides. Among others, it was resolved that legislative and executive authority of the Federal Military Government was to remain in the Supreme Military Council (SMC), to which any decision affecting the whole country shall be referred for determination provided it is possible for a meeting to be held, and the matter requiring determination must be referred to military governors for their comment and concurrence. What does this mean in simple language? The SMC would run the affairs of the country, but not without consulting the regions as represented by the military governors. This was something akin to federalism, even under a military government.

Other terms of the agreement include that appointments to senior ranks in the police, diplomatic and consular services as well as appointment to superscale posts in the federal civil service and the equivalent posts in the statutory corporations must be approved by the SMC. What does this mean again in simple language? Equity, fairness, true federalism.

Other matters like the holding of an ad hoc constitutional conference, fate of soldiers involved in the January 15, 1966 coup, rehabilitation of displaced persons, etc, were also amicably resolved, and the conferees returned happily to Nigeria. Only for the Federal side to deliver a blow to the solar plexus: the Aburi Accord, Gowon said, was unworkable, and he reneged on all the agreements. whether we like it or not, there’s no way we won’t return to Aburi. Willy-nilly. I only hope it will be sooner than later, before Nigeria goes to grief. On Aburi I stand.

Using the Eastern Nigerian Broadcasting Service, Ojukwu played the tape recording of the proceedings at Aburi repeatedly, to educate the populace on who was playing Judas. Later, he made a broadcast in which he said: “we in the East are anxious to see that our differences are resolved by peaceful means and that Nigeria is preserved as a unit, but it is doubtful, and the world must judge whether Lt. Col Gowon’s attitudes and other exhibitions of his insincerity are something which can lead to a return of normalcy and confidence in the country.

“I must warn all Easterners once again to remain vigilant. The East will never be intimidated, nor will she acquiesce to any form of dictation. It is not our intention to play the aggressor. Nonetheless, it is not our intention to be slaughtered in our beds. We are ready to defend our homeland.”

In a piece I did last December, shortly after Ojukwu passed away, I said he was virtually pushed into war by the infidelity of the Federal side to the Aburi Accord. I still stand by that position. Ojukwu was called ‘warlord’ for many decades, but he was by no means a warmonger. He only did what he needed to do for his people–and for the country.

As his earthly remains are interred today, it is tragic that Nigeria is still submerged in the morass that Ojukwu already identified about 45 years ago. Today, bombs go off like firecrackers in the country. There is agitation for the review of the revenue allocation formula. There are strident calls for the convocation of a sovereign national conference. Even some component parts are threatening to pull out of the federation if anything happened to their ‘son’ who is now in power. Didn’t Ojukwu warn of these landmines ahead? Were all these issues not already settled at Aburi? Foremost journalist and media administrator, Akogun Tola Adeniyi, in a recent media interview, explained the Aburi Accord this way: “Let every region be semi-autonomous and develop at its own level.” Yes, that was the spirit and letter of Aburi, but which sadly became a road not taken. And is that not why we are still suffering today, living in a rickety and decrepit country that can burst at the seams any moment? I tell you, Ojukwu was a prophet, and like most prophets, he had no honour in his own country. Pity. But whether we like it or not, there’s no way we won’t return to Aburi. Willy-nilly. I only hope it will be sooner than later, before Nigeria goes to grief. On Aburi I stand.

Federal Government was perfidious and duplicitous on Aburi. It is still the same way today. That is why as Nigerians, we are most times disillusioned, dismayed, dispirited, dejected and depressed. When will change come to this land? Our hearts are getting weary.
Last December, I wrote that Ojukwu should be buried like a hero. I’m glad at the rites of passage so far, culminating in the interment today. Yes, bury him like a true hero. An icon, an avatar, deserves no less. This generation will surely not see another like Ojukwu. He fought not only for his own people, but for a true federation founded on justice, fair play, equity and rectitude. Unfortunately, he did not see the Nigeria of his dreams. Will we? Adieu the Ikemba, the Eze Igbo Gburugburu. May your soul rest in peace. Ka nkpur’obi gi zue ike n’adukwa.

I'm not sure Osita Chidoka is afraid of the EFCC, you will be surprised that the money for this project didn't come from his pocket alone. In 1997/98 Ibrahim Coomasie former IG of Police donated a lecture theatre to Imo State University Owerri named after him. Funny thing is that Coomasie didn't contribute a dime to the project, but friends. Cases like that abound.
Not putting a defence for Chidoka but this is an area you should also look at instead of making it a PDP thing.
Thank you my brother, people like Amaechi that live a mansion in front of EFCC valued over 5billion Naira, why has he not being invited because as a Governor for 8yrs he his not supposed to have that much money if he was spending only from his salary and allowances.

You are very correct, friends and well wishers interested in the project would have taken part in it, we should not jump up every time we see things like this and say EFCC, but we all know they are not doing a good job.if they want to use the mandate given to them Amaechis cell should be close to that of Dasuki.

Editor’s Note: Transport minister and former governor of Rivers
state Rotimi Amaechi is a controversial political figure who
attracts great controversy, but is their an organised political
witch hunt against him? Is he being shielded by President
Muhammadu Buhari? Tope Michael examines the case.
Whenever the military officers and leaders of the Peoples
Democratic Party who looted the national wealth are
exposed, invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission or charged to court, some hack writers are
quick to accuse the Buhari government of political witchhunt
and selective persecution.
In particular, the government of President Buhari is accused
of shielding Mr Rotimi Amaechi from prosecution.
While not defending Buhari or Amaechi, it is necessary to
point out that the Wike government in Rivers state has been
challenged by Amaechi to charge him to court if he has
evidence that he stole a dime while he was governor of
Rivers state for eight years.
Since Governor Wike set up a judicial commission of
enquiry which probed and indicted Amaechi why has he not
directed his Attorney General to file charges against
Amaechi in the high court of Rivers state?
Similarly, after his inauguration in October 2014 the lousy
Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose accused ex-governor
Kayode Fayemi of building a N3 billion governor’s lodge in a
poor state like Ekiti.
But instead of converting the lavish mansion into a 5-star
hotel at Ado Ekiti Mr Fayose is presently living in the place.
What a hypocrite!
The fellow too has cried out that Dr Fayemi looted the
treasury of the poor state. Since Mr. Fayose claims to have
evidence of Dr. Fayemi’s looting spree why has he not
directed his Attorney-General of Ekiti State to drag the ex-
governor to the high court in Ekiti state for corruption?

This article was originally published in Sahara Reporters.
How many ex governors have you heard that are charged to court? EFCC should do the needful investigate like they do to others invite him for questioning, get warrants from the magistrate court to lock him up For weeks or better still don't release him like Dasuki.

Every time you guys come out to shout take him to court, no we should do it the EFCC way. There is no witch hunt there.

This is the third man to have been electrocuted today by this faulty Street light pole at Kosofe Bus Stop, Mile 12. The Lagos State Government recently barricaded the road around the area with iron rails to force people to use the new pedestrian bridge in the area instead of crossing the road. However, because the bridge location is very far from this particular spot, people who have businesses at the other side of the road always cross the iron rail demarcation after bending the sharp pointed irons fitted on top. Unfortunately, a broken cable from this street light pole fitted to the demarcation is already touching the entire rail and therefore everyone trying to cross the place today have been shocked. Three unlucky persons died today at different times after getting electrocuted by the rail. That's not the only problem, the said pole is at the brink of collapse as it's been shaking all day and a major wind can finally pull it down. This is a very busy road, hope authorities will do something about it immediately before more damage is done. More photos below..

Barely a year in office, Governor Samuel Ortom of
Benue State has come under the searchlight of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,
following allegation he caused the transfer of the
state’s cash amounting to N4.29 billion from banks
to unknown recipients.
.
On the strength of the three petitions fired by
insiders in Benue State government, the EFCC has
already swung into action by questioning some
persons close to the government in relation to the
cash transfers.
.
A top official of the commission confirmed last night
that the agency received two petitions against the
governor and some top officials of the
administration and had already commenced
investigation into the matter, even though the
governor is covered by immunity while in office.
.
He said: “I can confirm to you that the commission
has received petitions against Governor Ortom and
other dramatis personae over alleged diversion and
other financial infractions. We have also
commenced investigation into the veracity of the
petitions. And I can also tell you that the
commission will soon take necessary action on the
matter.”
.
Some of those named in the petitions as
arrowheads of the scam are members of the state
House of Assembly and the National Assembly.
.
The official said only those not covered by immunity
were being interrogated in connection with the cash
movement, adding that the outcome of the
commission’s probe would soon be made public.
.
Governor Ortom, who spoke through his Chief Press
Secretary, Mr. Terver Akase, said the report was
not only false but also a demonstration of mischief
and ignorance by the authors of the petitions.

He is not a full APC man, he was a minister during GEJ Govt, I believe they have feelers that he may move to PDP by 2019, that is why they are coming after him, I do not immunity working for Governors under this administration, if he culpable then he should brought in for questioning, I am not against the persecution of looters, but everyone should be persecuted.

At last an event that won't be marred by politics! Thank God that it is hosted in the heart of Niger Delta(Uyo), and not in Lagos, Abuja or London
I don't know why Amaechi should be invited for something like this concerning the Niger Delta, he is not one us and will never be one of us, from his actions and body language he has shown over time that he is for the north, because I see no reason why he would want to bring an Hausa man to be the Rector of the maritime school in Oron just because they asked for federal assistance, but go and check all federal establishment up north if you will see any tribe as the top man there.

He would only come there to infuriate the participants by talking about his achievements as governor of Rivers State, as if Niger Delta will survive based on multiple abandoned projects. It is time we past Amaechi he has nothing to offer us down here, rather he is taking away from us to give to his masters the north.

That is no where near thirteen Billion naira. Simple. Those guys stole the money.
That's why things have gone so bad in this country because of your style of leadership, go after them but don't stop the project, if you can proof that 13billion is to much for the land, because I don't see your master as a quantity surveyor and I am sure he as not acquired the services of one so how can sit in his office or home and be shouting 13billion is too much for the land and you guys will join him.

We should allow the courts the do there jobs, if any is found wanting let the courts decide, what I see you APC guys doing is just bringing in anarchy into the system.

This was no how you guys Inherited the country from the previous administration, now you can see what the FGN is doing retracing there step backwards to correct these mistakes, you guys should just admit that you made a mistake and change your ways, because if you continue like that it will be so bad for your party and Nigerians in general.

It seems a lot of people do not know what a 13 billion naira project looks like.

All you see in the Video below is from a 14 billion naira project. Yet, people have the audacity to post the rubbish above as a thirteen Billion naira project. Pathetic.
Whats is your problem with this project, why are you are you not bringing the monorail rail project up to show us, you guys are so full of shit.

When your master comes out to tell us that a land was bought for 13billion, he didn't tell they paid for peoples houses, he didn't tell you that some cash crops on the land was also paid for, you guys just go around carry false news that the land alone cost 13billion, and what would a land that is suppose to take a university not cost that much, try and get the details of the transaction before you go about showing a project that was partly sponsored by first bank.

You guys are so full of shit, if I were your master I will get you fired because you suck at your job.
