talk2odim: Thks for your responses. I appreciate. I read the link and tried to contact the expert but cant explain why my card payment was not being accepted. Just out of curiousity and for the sake of not falling inro qring hands do u have anyone that you can recommend in lagos to do the job. And how much would the compactible ECU cost...any ideasJust for the sake of curiosity what are the syptoms the car is giving? All I saw was vibration you wrote earlier is there any thing else? Meanwhile post your vin here (chassis number) https://www.nairaland.com/295433/free-vin-checks/9 and check if your vehicle is salvaged/flooded cars like that almost always have corrosion issues in ecu pins. Also try and clear dtc and re-scan after 50-100km so we know what we are really dealing with. |
abolore80: Check if the needle is properly fixed. If its okay, then I suspect your speed sensor is bad. But since you said your odometer is working, I suspect probably the sensors are two. Maybe the one that controls the speed is bad. Check your manual to find out. your car year model will also tell if its electronic or cable. if its cable, check if the cable is still okay but if its electronic, then the culprit is your speed sensor. A sample has been posted by GAZZUZ. Its usually around the gear. His speed sensor works fine, problem lies somwhere in the instrument panel. |
lomomike: www.justanswer.com/toyota/5o8xa-toyota-camry-operating-2007-camry-occasionally.htmlLong story short check wiring, pins of "all" ecu's for corrosion. If all is ok replace fauly ecu. |
talk2odim: It is not hybrid....itz d normal 4 plug gasoline engine. In that case follow lomomike's advice to the letter a drop in voltage (below 12v) will make most of the sensors on your vehicle go "gaga". Mean while a suggest you invest in a digital multimeter, it costs 500 for a small one, start your engine, turn on your head lamps and put air-conditioning on full blast then set your multimeter to DC volts 20 put the terminals on the battery and check voltage anything less than 13v then there's a charging fault. |
Are you sure its not a hybrid? |
beryour: Please Can I get the tokunbo parts of these products for Honda pilot 2004 EXPost here: https://www.nairaland.com/996664/maintenance-tips-honda-cars , you will get prompt response. |
I think its more of panic buying, me sef I just panicked and bought a full tank, and filled up an extra 50liter gallon. |
I tested it, it does "NOT" work. |
ogawisdom: thanks for the link but our car issues are not exactly the same ie my odometer is working perfectly while my speedometer reader is stationary at zero when i am moving. can this also be responsible for the occassional check engine light i do see. pls more experts shld comment. speedometer sensor was the solution given in the link, do u tink it suits my own case.Faulty speed clock, open and check if the needle is properly fitted, if it is I guess you might have to replace the unit. |
You have a leak find it and fix it problems solved. Check less obvious places like the compressor, joints and eveporator which is located under the dashboard. The tools required for finding leaks are sniffers and adding dye to the system, but unfortunately most of our AC technicians do not have the required tools, if you are a diy person am sure you can order dye online. |

Ikenna351: Please, if you must buy a Nigerian used Lion, find someone knowledgeable enough on Lions electrics to inspect or carryout a PP2000 session on the Lion. Its used car, so we don't expect not to find few faults, which shouldn't deter one from buying. But with the kind of electrical abuse some people are dishing out on their Lions, you could end up with such ones.Ikenna you connected your pp2000 to a vehicle that the cooling fan starts up when you open the drivers door? Ahhh you have faith o! |

kablooee: Thanks for the info, what bridge are you talking abt. Can you confirm exact location? For some weird reasons customs don't stop this particular vehicle, anyway papers are intact.BROKEN BRIDGE BETWEEN IBILO AND LAMPESE A bridge between between Ibilo (Kogi state) and Lampese (EDO state) has been partially washed off due to heavy downpour. Traffic from Lagos - Akure - Owo is diverted from Ibilo through Igarra - Auchi - Okpella - Okenne - Abuja road while motorists from Abuja are advised to follow Okenne - Kabba - Ekiti axis to Lagos. Our men are at the spot directing traffic while relevant authorities have been contacted for repairs to be effected. We shall keep you posted as we call for caution on the part of road users. Wishing you all safe trips. SOURCE: FRSC |

Siena: Are you kidding me??A bad knock sensor in a 1mz engine will in most cases stop the car from switching to 4th and 5th gears (automatic transmission) if the OP had been driving with a bad knock sensor and failed to notice he was on 3rd gear at very high speeds engine would fry quicker. |
Getting a 2001 (tokumbor) catalytic converter is possible but difficult considering it is 13years old! On the other hand a new one is readily available, just contact luvinghubby(run a search), mean while blocking your exhaust with wires and nets will damage your engine in the long run. Just out of curiosity what are your scan code results that made you conclude your catalyst is bad? There are also short cuts when your catalyst is bad which involve using extenders to fool the "brainbox" into believing the catalyst is functioning properly (this is illegal in many countries except for nigeria) this is less invasive and will only take a few minutes. |
