So if 1 4gts, do u tnk God 4gts? U compare Catholics 2 islamists? U r very wrong. Rather it's u who has been arguing irrationally so far. All u have done is criticize & castigate d Catholic faith with baseless accusations & without facts. U & a lot of Pentecostals remind me of when in primary school we were taught dt it was impossible 2 subtract a greater number 4rm a lesser one. This was an article written by yours truly in june last year. It is highly important to note that it is not intended to soothe the conservative and touchy sensibilities of the average nigerian hence it is not recommended for the lily-livered reader. This might even elicit a ban from the highly irascible and irritable moderators of nairaland and maybe closure of the topic but it is not the duty of the writer to sugarcoat and camouflage his words due to fear of controversy or rebuke. We writers are but serfs to the god of literature and we must relay his message without fear of those who would as they say "shoot the messenger". Enough of me jawing away and now it's time to take the metaphoric deathly plunge.... OPEN LETTER TO HOMOSEXUALS (AND SYMPATHIZERS) Dear gays, Homosexuals, gays, butt fuckers, potes or whatever name I choose to label you because of my virulent hatred/ignorance notwithstanding how offensive you find it, how are you all? my bad for that rhetorical question… of course you are besides yourselves with elation due to your ‘victory’; the U.S.A supreme court ruling in favor of that sacrilege, that abomination, that desecration that makes me nauseous every time I think, hear or talk about it but funnily I cannot seem to stop talking about- the marriage between two men or women (tufia, retching sounds). But before those of you damned, hell bound perverts in the U.S start ringing the gay wedding bells and rush to buy suits, wedding gowns and aso-ebi for your upcoming nuptials and your counterparts based in Nigeria begin to storm the American embassy in search of visa, let me make a final attempt to convince you to abandon this path of destruction you seem bent on taking because (in case you did not know) I am clairvoyant and welllll… mmm….. I just know I am right and you are wrong. First of all, as a very religious, God-fearing and believing Christian, Muslim or tradi-whatever, I cannot just sit down and watch you go against the tenets of my religious beliefs. Marriage as taught by my pastor, priest, imam and other clerics was actually divinely ordained by God Almighty Himself to be solely contracted between a man and woman only (pardon the redundancies; they were for emphasis). So how dare you, a mere mortal decide to overrule the immutable dictates of the Almighty? I don’t care if you are a Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu, Zoroastrian, atheist, free thinker or a follower of any of the ample religious beliefs found in the world (I would have loved to further berate you all for belonging to the wrong religion or in the case of the latter two; the lack of, but unfortunately I do not want to digress). Even if your religion does permit it, it is still wrong for you because my God says so and if it is prohibited by your religion, you have the impetus to go against the teachings of your religion? I ask you this because I have never disobeyed any law outlined by my religion, not once in my life. Of course I am not holy (only God is) I just don’t sin. That makes me righteous (to self and others). I am very sure that if God were to start smiting everyone who had ever offended him dead, not one strand of hair on my head would be touched. So this gives me an unchallengeable license to judge, repudiate and condemn you even before God does and also to stifle and overturn the divine gift of freewill you just happen to be exercising. In fact without attempting to question or belittle God’s omniscience and wisdom, I believe every human should be forced to carry out the will of my God because that is what He would want (I think). To those brazen homophiles (closet gays to me because you can only support what you partake in) in the U.S currently applauding this judicialized absurdity; you have all fanned the embers of my God’s wrath to an unprecedented summit which would soon descend on you as a conflagration. In His list of countries, you are no longer the United States of America but Sodom and Gomorrah hence your nation’s demise shall be swift, soon and certain preferably with raining fire and brimstone as was the case with your namesake of old. Why you ask? Because homosexuality and lesbianism were the only sins Sodom and Gomorrah practiced to incur my God’s anger and destruction (according to MY bible). One thing you need to know about my God is that He is merciful and gracious to the perpetrators of graft, genocides, rape, gross human rights abuse and other ‘little’ sins; even fornication/adultery is still tolerable as long as it is with a member of the opposite sex but approve of same sex unions and He would eviscerate you. In your stead, He would raise “religious”, “God-fearing” but corruption-riddled, controversy-ridden and homophobic countries like Uganda, Gambia, Zimbabwe, and my beloved Nigeria to replace you. Your foul, antichrist-like, gay-approving president Barack Obama would be soon be cast down and in his place would rise “morally upright” and “courageous” leaders like Robert Mugabe, who has so far persevered in faith by refusing to end his “divinely backed” 35 year rule even in the midst of persecutions (real name for economic sanctions) afflicted by the satanic western powers; talk about a modern day Job. His unshakeable faith and refusal to bow to these American and European Baals evokes memories of the exploits of the great prophet Elijah recorded in the Bible. His reaction to this gay abomination was similar to the aforementioned prophet as he taunted obama in the manner of events at Mount Carmel whilst his country’s parliament fashioned stringent bans on homosexual activities. Even his enemies cannot deny that he led his countrymen from the bondage of colonialism and white minority rule in the manner of the biblical Moses, I am sure they are still smarting from the failure of their plan to foist that marionette Morgan Tsvangirai as prime minister. Yes they succeeded for a while but the Lord’s will saw that imposter voted out in the last elections (albeit assisted by a little political intimidation and “insignificant” irregularities) Little wonder why despite being 91 years of age, he is still kicking and maintains a death grip over his nation’s affairs. I would like go as far as to predict that my God would spare his life to the ripe age of 120 years just like Moses because I don’t think that there is anyone presently capable of receiving the mantle of leadership from him. Closely following in this divine upliftment would be (addressed by his appropriate title) his Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Doctor Yahya Jammeh, commander in chief of the armed forced and chief custodian of the sacred constitution of the Gambia. These numerous accolades and titles (mostly self administered) do not do sufficient justice to this “moral” colossus who as a young, dashing lieutenant in the Gambian national army wrested the reins of power from President Dawda Jawara (that seed of Ahab) like the biblical Jehu. He even went a step further to ensure this coup was bloodless (further testament of his moral fiber and magnanimity). His reign has lasted an unchallenged 21 years characterized by “astute” leadership decisions and “instilling” the fear of God into his countrymen. He holds the ironclad conviction that unbelief in God is tantamount to loosing ones status as a human and descending even lower than a pig (an animal regarded as unclean and evil by his religion) thereby exorcising secularity (a demon promoted by that cankerworm named democracy) to the abyss. He has scored a resounding success in muzzling that satanic mouthpiece commonly referred to as the press by unabashedly arresting, detaining, imprisoning and executing (extrajudicially of course) troublesome members of this evil caucus. In line with the Mosaic injunction “suffer not a witch to live; for she shall surely die”, he directed that over 1000 suspected witches/wizards be administered poisonous concoctions after the death of his aunt was attributed to witchcraft (“divine justice” being served methinks). The zealotry of this leader rose to the fore once again to confront this gay marriage insanity head on by the proclamation that he would “cut off the heads” of homosexuals or lesbians discovered in his country (talk about putting one’s enemies to the sword… literally). His widely acclaimed magnanimity could not be hidden as he tempered justice with “mercy” by offering them the option of leaving his country. He refers to this repugnant spade called homosexuality as what it is and by no other name. In his words, homosexuality in all its forms and manifestations is ‘very evil, antihuman as well as anti-Allah”. His words, no mere lip service seems to be transcending to action as there are indications that his government intend to set capital punishment as the penalty for homosexuality thereby fulfilling his vow that anti-gay laws in the Gambia would be “stricter than those in Iran”. This brand of zealotry exhibited by this fellow is highly approved and encouraged by my God little wonder why He gifted this president with the ‘gift’ of ‘curing’ diseases like HIV/AIDS, asthma, and hypertension whose cure has so far eluded western medicine but those western ingrates instead of appreciating and applauding this highly versatile genius, chose via the United Nations Development Programme (one of their well structured propaganda machineries) to sabotage and undermine the efforts of this generous man to better humanity by spreading aspersions that his remedy produced dangerous results. Secondly at YOU- gays of African parentage whether based in this great motherland of ours or in the Diaspora. How dare you? Discarding your great heritage to don this insanity-inspired, putrid toga of the west?..( eewǫǫ, alu eme, abomination in every African language and dialect, derisive spitting). I can say with absolute certainty that homosexuality didn’t exist in Africa until the arrival of the white man because I am an undisputable, infallible reservoir of the entire history, customs and traditions of over 2000 ethnic groups making up this continent and despite the paucity of accurate records of pre-colonial history, so when I tell you that homosexuality is not African and alien to our culture, you can take it to the bank. In fact, I would like to state that there was never a gay person in Africa before the advent of the Europeans. So therefore if none of your ancestors practiced this abnormal behavior, why must you deviate from the norms and culture of your people? Tell me as a Yoruba man/woman, how would you invite people to your gay traditional wedding? Who would dǫbailę for whose family? As an igbo gay couple, who would carry wine to whose family and who would pay the bride price in your igba nkwu? Please who would answer mister and who would answer missus? So you see where I am going with these questions; your life choices are not yours to make. You are not allowed to live your life contrary to any stipulation of your culture and tradition. Everything you do should not differ from the acts of the majority of the people around you. So because everyone around you is attracted to members of the opposite sex, so must you (to hell with your uniqueness, a quality that sets aside humans from other animals). You do not possess the power to choose to be involved with another consenting adult of the same sex just because most people frown on it and to those of you claiming to be “born that way”, my reply is a resounding “shut up there?” which way? Nobody can be born gay. I say this because I am the alpha and omega in all things genetics. All humans were born perfect. All those cases of hermaphroditism, birth defects, genetic mutation, chromosomal abberations and so on are a bunch of hogwash, balderdash and hocus pocus concocted by those oyinbo people to bamboozle the ignorant (a stock I obviously do not belong to; methinks). Finally, as a rational, normal human being, I would like to question your choice to act abnormally… yes homosexuality is not normal and so therefore what isn’t normal is bad and should be forbidden. It is against the laws of nature (there is actually a written collection encompassing all the laws that should and should not be observed as a resident of planet earth; I have read and know all these laws by heart). All those cases of same sex relations among lower animals are all lies. I would like to ask how can two men/women procreate? Forget all those Americana wonder like in vitro fertilization (I.V.F), surrogacy and so on. They are not normal hence they are all abominable. It is impossible for two people of the same sex to raise children because every child since the beginning of time has been raised by both a father and a mother. In fact, I can unequivocally state that every child raised by both a father and mother turned out well whilst all their counterparts raised in other unconventional manners turned out badly; shining examples like Adolf Hitler, Idi Amin, Ted Bundy and so on prove my point. Also in case you did not know, homosexuality would lead to the extinction of mankind because if it is ever tolerated globally, every Tom, Dick and Harry in the world would suddenly turn gay. So I hope with all these weighty points, I hope I have successfully dissuaded you from being gay. I do not how easy or hard it is for you to do; all I know that you had better “get straight or die trying” Yours (in)sincerely, Mr./Mrs./Miss/Ms. homophobe |
MzPecs:i asked for people's views on an issue whilst stating mine. How is that an offence now? I expect that some people would have diverging opinions about it & i'm willing to listen to them. I might not agree with some of them but i promise not to judge anyone. |
I was just going through my system and saw this essay i wrote in april last year. It was intended for my younger brother to enter an essay competition but as providence would have it, i got the submission deadline mixed up and realized about a week later i was too late. Anyway, without further ado, here is it. THE NIGERIAN POLITICAL CLASS AND THE CITIZENS QUEST FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE One of the most profound quotes I ever heard concerning governance was made not by a president, governor, statesman or politician. Rather it was made by the seemingly senile lead character from the 2005 movie ‘V for vendetta’. This man (strangely monikered V) said “People should not be afraid of their government; rather it is the government should be afraid of its people”. These words underline the power of the ruled over the ruler and should be the order in an ideal democratic society. If a government or a ruling cadre cannot be subject to either the dictates of decency or good conscience, the fear of repercussion from those they rule should at least whip them in line. This is hardly the case in our nation presently. Without further ado, I shall attempt to define the Nigerian political class. Who is/are the Nigerian political class and who are the individuals populating their ranks? Simply put, they are the group of individuals responsible for running the government. The political class consists first and foremost of the persons occupying positions of public service in the federal, state, and local tiers of government like the president, governors, local government chairmen and ward councilors. Secondly, they consist of the executive and legislative branches of government (members of the senate, federal and state houses of representative). Lastly they comprise of members of political parties that present candidates to contest for political elections with the view of becoming the ruling party and in the event of defeat; serve as lively opposition to the ruling party. The Nigerian political class has its origins in the nationalism movement during colonial times that fought initially for native participation in governance and then to dethrone British rule and ensure independence and self rule for Nigerian natives. At the vanguard of this movement were Nigerians educated in the Diaspora. Replete with knowledge garnered from the white man’s ivory towers and overcoming the almost god-like awe and semi worship their ignorant, non- educated countrymen showered on the white man and seeing through the veneer of colonialism as a tool for resource exploitation, these individuals set about to rally their countrymen to wrest power from the oppressive colonial masters. Chief among these individuals was Herbert Macauley; widely acclaimed as the father of Nigerian nationalism. On his return from the United Kingdom after training as an engineer, he worked in the colonial service as a land surveyor before resigning due to his distaste for colonialism. In the year 1923, emboldened by the Clifford constitution, he founded Nigeria’s first political party; the Nigerian national democratic party (N.N.D.P) that won all the seats in the elections of 1923, 1928, and 1933. This heralded local participation in the Nigerian political arena .They were usurped by the more radical Lagos youth movement (L.Y.M) founded by Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Kofo Abayomi, H. O Davies, Ernest Ikoli and J.C. Vaughan. Herbert Macauley would later in conjunction with Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe co-find the national council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (N.C.N.C) in the year 1944. This drive for independence was further accelerated by the end of the second world which saw the status of the British as prominent world powers diminish in favor of the United States and Soviet Union and an awakening political awareness of the Nigerian people. Also the successful struggle for independence in colonies such as India (previously touted as the “jewel of the crown”) affirmed that this struggle was not an exercise in futility; hence there was further strengthening in the resolve of Nigerians to gain independence. Now lending weight in support were Nigerian veterans of the Second World War, civil servants, traders and majority of the Nigerian populace. However, it is pertinent to note that agitation for independence in the northern region did not begin until the 1940s due to the limited political interference with the conservative traditional institutions by the British because of the successful implementation of indirect rule. Hence, majority of the southern Nigerian political class originated from the highly educated, white collar stock while the northern Nigerian political class emanated mostly from the families of their traditional ruling class. Although the northern region was the least developed and politically aware, they were able to exert influence over the southern ruling class due to their vast population and greater internal unity. This has continued to be the status quo in Nigeria till date. Military intrusion into governance in later years after independence threatened to exterminate the Nigerian civilian ruling class until the year 1999, when the military handed over to a democratically-elected government, heralding the 4th republic. It is very saddening to note that through the years, instead of casting itself as a model of selfless, credible and citizen-oriented leadership, the Nigerian political class has grown into a cadre of vice-infected individuals with a maniacal lust for power at all cost. This power when accrued is then utilized for the dual purpose of illegal enrichment of self and cronies and oppression of their proletarian countrymen even beyond that of our erstwhile colonial masters. The impoverished masses are only remembered during election period when they are bribed with petty gifts of cash and kind not only to sell their votes to the highest bidder, but also enact acts of intimidation, violence and hooliganism against political opponents. They are a brood of vipers continually spreading the venom of ethnic, religious and political discrimination whenever it suits their interests instead of attempting to foster peace in a highly diverse nation. The antics enacted by members of the Nigerian political class have led to the common saying in Nigeria “politics is a dirty game”. The Nigerian political class has solely succeeded in the task of entrenching corruption as a way of life in Nigeria. The entire nation now reeks of the putridity of this vile character. Findings from various panels and tribunals continuously fingered top political figures as culprits in issues relating to corrupt practices. From the pre-independence Foster-Sutton tribunal of inquiry investigating Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, the Coker commission of inquiry of 1962 investigating Awolowo to the oil subsidy investigation of 2012 and the recent ‘Oduah-gate’ scandal, it is crystal clear that several generations of the political class have succeeded in nearly bleeding the national coffers dry. Failure of the available legal institutions to fully prosecute the responsible parties and retrieve stolen monies have bred a spirit of impunity and brazenness among the individuals in power and made a farce out of the rule of law The present crop of the Nigerian political class is a class bereft of sound (if any) political ideologies. This is made evident in the structuring of political parties. Instead of providing a stronghold of positive national ideals and diverse innovative ideas for the progression of our nation, they have become power grabbing and power hording centers. Since there is no sound ideal serving as the core of the party and bond among members, loyalty is an extinct quality in such gatherings. Hence mass decamping and carpet crossing is the order when there is either a loss in elections or altercation among party members; the former being evident after the last elections of March 2015. This attitude has transformed the Nigerian political arena to a quasi-battlefield where members of the opposition are viewed as sworn enemies to be totally and continually sabotaged and annihilated and party members are viewed as infallible and incapable of wrongdoing. What is mind-boggling is that at the event of a decampment, there is an ‘amnesic’ transubstantiation in which the former ‘saintly’ party members are suddenly portrayed as villains of the worst sort and vice versa. This has eroded the spirit of dignified statesmanship and sportsmanship that should ideally be part and parcel of politics. The most damning legacy that every generation of the Nigerian political class has left so far is the inability to provide solutions to basic problems bedeviling our nation. A situation where the economy of a nation blessed with numerous natural resources relies chiefly on one (crude oil) is more than baffling. What is confounding is that since the discovery of crude oil in the 1950s, little tangible results are evident. Basic social amenities, chiefly constant electricity, water supply, affordable healthcare e.t.c (long resolved issues in most developed and developing countries) remain inaccessible to the Nigerian populace. These amenities have been promised by successive governments who without expressing any modicum of shame reel out these promises as the selling points of their manifestos during election campaigns. Is it not shameful that a nation with our population (the highest in Africa) still rely heavily on importing goods we should be mobilizing our vast population to produce for us to consume and even export? The acts of the political class have had a negative domino effect on the citizenry at large. An opportunity to serve in a position of power has now been dubbed “being invited to come and chop”. Holding a political office or appointment has become a sure avenue for rapid self enrichment. Knowing someone in power is the surest way to beat due process and subvert protocols. To obtain almost any service, you must ‘know somebody up there’. Bail is free but you must pay the police some money. If you are stopped for a ‘routine check’, you have to part with ‘something’ before you are flagged on. Those who can afford it depart to other nations thereby causing brain drain that lost us bright minds like Chimamanda Adichie, Philip Emeagwale, Chinua Achebe to mention a few. However amidst all this, there is a deep thirst for good governance. It is this quest that led several Nigerians to endure scorching heat and deluging rain to vote for “change”. It is this quest for quality leadership that has left us waiting anxiously with crossed fingers and bated breaths for the 29th of may 2015, when retired General Buhari is sworn in as president of the federal republic of Nigeria. We sincerely hope that his tenure is the metaphoric first step to begin the thousand mile journey our nation must make on the path to recovery. In spite of everything around us, we do not despair. We believe that one day, be we alive or not, a Nigeria where graft and corrupt practices are reduced to the barest minimum, a Nigeria where the quiet and fresh air associated with the night is not jettisoned by the noise and carbon monoxide fumes of generating sets because there would be constant electricity, roads bereft of potholes and deathtraps, a Nigeria where petrol scarcity is unheard of because we have functional local refineries and we do not import petrol, where unemployment is drastically reduced, where the standard of living is high, where there is efficient distribution of resources among the people. For this Nigeria to be a realty, I would willingly offer my tears, sweat and yes even my blood. |
Dis is just d tip of D iceberg. Na only 4 unilorin wey u go hear say dem force person go Barbing salon 2 go cut hair. Wt do u xpct wen we have a dead SUG dt can't fight 4 us? Dem no fit try dis 1 4 place lyk OAU. |
Amadioha fire dt idiot's mouth dere. When he was carrying millions 2 do Xmas tree, he didn't know d State was broke. Anuofia egwu. Mschew. |
I hope dis season wld b beta Dan last season especially wt payment of players. D embarrassment of players having 2 go on strike over unpaid wages needs 2 stop. LMC shouldn't give d clubs their money until dey have settled all their players. Security @ match venues also needs more tightening up especially 4 match officials lyk referees. |
taiocol:Isn't gbolahan salami leaving u pple or hasn't he left already? Gud luck reaching top 4 wt out ur top striker & last season's top scorer. |
Finally, 2 Lagos based club in d top flight. Since d era of d oluwole bridge boys (Julius berger) in d early 2000s, D NPFL has been missing 4rm d true football arena. I hope dey don't get relegated. Anyway, I hope d pple's elephant wld do me proud dis upcoming season especially in d champion's league. |
Sacluxpaint:Ur ignorance & pride is dt instead of u 2 c past d human face of D priest 2 behold Jesus Christ in d confessional, u c a human being d same way a lot of Pentecostals c only bread and wine instead of Jesus Christ present body and blood, soul and divinity in d blessed Eucharist. U speak abt humbling ur self only 2 God & nt man. Have u ever seen God? D same way u can't love God wt out lovn ur fellow man is hw u can't b humble 2 God wt out being humble 2 ur fellow man. Jesus himself was humble b4 men. He even humbled himself 2 D point of washing his disciples' feet & afterwards, He instructed dem 2 do lykwys. Ur snide shot abt purgatory further reveals ur deep ignorance abt d teachings of D church. D aim of every true xtian is 2 make heaven bt our frail efforts most tyms r insufficient. Purgatory serves 2 purify us of minor impurities lyk 4gtn sins, unnoticed sins, sins we committed dt we were nt even aware of. These r situations dt even d most righteous xtian cld find himself eg do u know dt everytime u c anyone in need (no mata hw little) & u don't assist, it's a sin? Imagine if 1 dies in ignorance of such sins even though he/she made a zealous effort 2 pls God. D fact is dt nothing impure or imperfect (no mata hw little d level of imperfection) can enta heaven. So purgatory serves 2 cleanse us of such minute impurities so dt we r totally spotless. Wt out dt, almost if nt all of us wld wind up in hell. |
Adebowaletunji:Dnt get me wrong. U r nt bad. I cld date u. I cld even do u wt out any feeling of repulsion bt ur claim ehn e get beta scoliosis. Finest 4 where? Here? Hollup Hollup just Gerara here babe. |
Speechless3:My sister (nt tryn 2 famz). What or rather who u r looking 4 is exactly where u r. As d saying goes "wetin u dey find 4 sokoto dey ur sokoto". I once was @ a similar situation u were in. During my 100 level days, I started attending a Pentecostal church around my hostel. D fact was dt it was fascinating @ first. D melodic singing u cld dance 2, lively praying, speaking in tongues etc. I felt lyk finally dis was where Jesus was. It was reminiscent of wt was written in d acts of D apostles. I was determined 2 quit d Catholic church, which I saw as a non - Bible believing church. I even got baptized in my new church telling myself dt my infant baptism was fake. I saw prayers lyk d "hail Mary" as satanic & started 2 c Catholics as worshippers of idols. When my mom heard about my 'conversion', she went ballistic & in her usual way tried 2 intimidate me in2 submission. However, I was adamant & counted her Intolerance as persecution. Finally she reported 2 a priest temporarily residing in our parish. I was instructed 2 go & c d priest which I did albeit reluctantly. Anticipating further antagonism 4rm d priest, I had 'armed' myself wt parts of Scripture 2 discredit d Catholic faith. As I arrived d priory of my parish, I called d priest (fr. Ralph I think) on his line & informed me of my presence. He directed me 2 a little room where I awaited his arrival, going over d finer point of D argument I anticipated. He soon joined me & after d normal salutations, did something I didn't expect. In a calm, friendly voice, he asked me 2 explain myself. Dis totally took me by surprise bt I did as he asked. After I finished speaking, he kept quiet 4 sometime & inwardly I was already anticipating a reprimand or something similar 2 my mother's words. I mentally went over my argument once again 2 make sure dey were still intact (which dey were). He then spoke & complimented me saying dt he sensed d hunger 4 d truth in d search of God in me, which was rare 4 most youths of my age. He then said dt it wld b wrong 4 him 2 tell me wt 2 blv in or nt. He then asked me if I had a bible, which I replied affirmatively. He asked again if I liked reading, which I also replied "yes" to. He then excused himself 4 a moment & went 2 his room. When he returned, he came wt some books on articles of D Catholic faith. He asked me when I would b able 2 finish dem all. I gave a date & he then instructed me 2 first ask d Holy spirit 4 true enlightenment & read wt an unbiased mind referencing it wt d Bible & dt I shld report back 2 him @ d appointed tym & then we wld discuss any doubts I had abt d Catholic faith, . D most touching part was when he told me dt he trusted dt my hunger 4 d truth wld lead me 2 it. As I got home, I immediately delved in2 d books he lent me cross-referencing dem wt d Bible. Book after book I devoured hoping 2 find d falsehood in d Catholic faith. I was disappointed when I finished d book & I cldnt find anything significant! I even discovered dt d pillars of Martin Luther's schism (fide Sola, scriptura Sola & Gracia sola) were wrong. I went back 2 D priest a 2nd tym having no doubts 2 raise wt him. He gave me another set of books dis tym most of dem were in a q & a format abt reservations & doubts abt d Catholic faith. In these books, I found some of D questions earlier plaguing my mind as well as their answers wt scriptural backing. I went back 2 D priest humble in my newfound knowledge & appreciation of D Catholic faith. He then told me he went through a similar phase in his early lyf in d search 4 truth even delving in2 d followership of mystics lyk Harry Krishna b4 he was led by his insatiable quest 4 d truth back 2 D Catholic church. He then spoke more about d Catholic church. By dt tym I needed no more convincing dt I was in d ryt church & if Eva I left, it wldnt b because Jesus wasn't present in her. I compare most xtians nowadays 2 D prophet Elijah @ mount Horeb. We r too busy looking 4 God in d fire, wind & earthquake often ignoring d soft, still voice dt resonates in d peaceful, meditative sections of our mind. D Jesus we seek in d speaking of tongues & oda manifestations in Pentecostal churches is present quietly in d Eucharist day & nyt calling silently 2 us. Do u nt feel him in d meditative mood of adoration? D anointing dt most of us r running helter skelter 4 & even toadying up 2 some general overseer, pastor, or bishop 4 is present in d poor, sick, downtrodden & less privileged among us. After all as our Lord said in d parable of D sheep & goats, dey r "d least of My brethren". Most Pentecostal churches nowadays teach their followers 2 regard odas nt belonging 2 D same church as dey r with suspicion instead of dt beautiful prayer said afta d magnificat in my parish by d Legion of Mary (which u claimed u belonged 2)dt urges us 2 c Jesus in our fellow men. U speak abt d Catholic church condoning iniquities lyk in (ur words) clubbing, drinking, cheating, premarital sex etc as long as u go 4 confession. First some of these things u mentioned r nt sins eg drinking of alcohol as long as one doesn't bcom drunk (aftarall Jesus turned water in2 wine & don't let anybody deceive u dt it was non-alcoholic) & as 4 clubbing, didn't Jesus eat, drink & party wt tax collectors, prostitutes & sinners? A lot of Pentecostals r lyk d pharisee in d parable dt exalted himself whilst praying "I fast, I pray, I pay my tithes, I read my bible" instead of dem 2 b lyk d tax collector dt asked 4 mercy in humility. Actually d church doesn't blv in condemning any sinner who ask 4 4gvns.... C full post on page 7 of ur post. |
Sacluxpaint:It's obvious dt u didn't know wt u had hence u were quick 2 lose it. So instead of u 2 contemplate ur own sins, u r busy regarding d sins of anoda. U 4gt when Jesus said in Matt 7:1 " judge nt so u won't b judged". Isn't it St Paul dt said dt God uses d foolish things of this world 2 astound d wise? So u feel too superior 2 humble ur self b4 a men who's a representative of Christ. Beware pride was d sin lucifer committed dt got him cast down 4rm heaven. Y did Christ give d apostles d power 2 forgive sin & y were we urged 2 in d epistles 2 confess our sins 2 one anoda? U didn't understand ur Catholic faith well so I don't blame u. It's ignorance I disdain in all this. |
Abeg make im open mouth tell us where D 21 billion im use 4 campaign Comot 4rm & hw im use our money when im dey office . It's called rendering account. Ogbeni tnk say silence go exonerate am. Na until Im talk na im I go decide if Im innocent /guilty. |
My sister (nt tryn 2 famz). Ralph I think) on his line & informed him of my presence. Actually d church doesn't blv in condemning any sinner who ask 4 4gvns. D sincerity of D individual is btw himself & God. So no mata hw many tyms 1 stumbles, she is always ready 2 accept her children in2 her fold as long as dey r washed in d showers of grace channeled by our Savior thru d sacrament of D confessional. Do u want 2 compare dis 2 D Pentecostal notion dt dey r above sin & therefore do not transgress against God when it's clearly written in d 1st letter of John "if we say we have no sin in us, we make God a liar"? U think d Catholic church instructs her children 2 sin 2 their fill? No, she isn't happy when any of her children fall in2 sin bt her love 4 Dem can't let her cast dem away. Even God himself doesn't give up on any sinner. He is always searching 4 a way 2 bring dem back 2 himself. If u were 2 b privy 2 D sordid details of D lyf of some of those pple u tnk r nt sinning, u wld shudder & if care isn't taken, lose faith in God. Nobody is perfect be it pope, pastor, priest, bishop, G. O, or whoever. Dey r men just lyk us so r liable 2 stumble 1 tym or anoda. I once witnessed an exco member of 1 Pentecostal fellowship in my skul (campus pastors) caught stealing my friend's BlackBerry. So d grass isn't greener on d oda side in dis case. Find out more abt d faith u were born in2 b4 deciding 2 go elsewhere. FYI I'm nt perfect, I'm wt most Pentecostal wld call a hell bound candidate bt dt is no fault of D Catholic church. By d grace of God, I wld keep on struggling Sha 2 b a beta xtian. Everyone is given freewill by God. Wt d church doesn't do is infringe on dt will of urs. God wants us 2 choose him bt he doesn't force us. We have 2 make d decision 4 ourselves. No mata hw much someone else forces u 2 observe God's commandment, if it doesn't come 4rm within u, u r wasting ur tym. |
Dude u r kinda on point. I'm a nyc guy & things r nt exactly rocking in d ladies department 4 me. D problem is as much as I want 2 b terrible 2 women, I can't. It's nt just in me. I can't stand d thought of emotionally manipulating a woman just 2 get in2 her pants. I can't even talk dirty if a woman is within earshot. It just seems too ungentlemanly. I can't just help bt treat ladies nycly because something in me sees a part of mother or sisters in them so what I wouldn't want someone doing 2 my mom or sisters, I don't try it wt dem. It's just who I am. I take comfort in d words of Chris Rock. In his book "rock this", he writes concerning nyc guys "she has 2 b wt Mike (Tyson), then Ike (turner) b4 she can b wt u". I just hope she wouldn't have lost all her teeth by then. |
I was just surfing the net randomly and saw this article. It was like someone saw my thoughts, arranged them into apt sentences and regurgitated them on paper. A lot of guys I've met have this mindset (crude in my opinion) so I thought it would be good to share. Let me know what y'all (males & females) think. http://manly.ng/nigerian-man-marry-a-virgin/ |
