Bro there ain't no such position onboard ship especially onboard tankers. You best bet is to work your way to the galley department as a steward then progress as a cook. The chief cook is in charge of the ship provision store under the supervision of his superiors like the chief officer.

Day 2 (Wednesday 9th August, 2023)

I resumed for work a few minutes to 0800 today and went straight to the workshop to continue my rag cutting task. I had already being told by my cabin mate that I should always endeavor to get to work by 0750H. One of the ladies working in the ECR (Engine Control Room) came to call me and said that the chief engineer didn't know I had come that I should always come to the ECR first or else the chief engineer(CE) will think I came late. On getting to the ECR met some other officers of the engine room. The CE addressed all of us on being hardworking and avoid being negligent. He said he's watching and will take disciplinary action if necessary. He then dismissed us. After sometime he called me to ask for the ship I had worked before and I answered that this was my first time on board. He said I should be very careful being a first timer I should take things easy and should stay away from moving machinery until I know how to operate it. He asked for my career ambition which I told him I wish to progress to oiler then upwards. He then informed me that I should come to his cabin on Saturdays or Sundays to collect his boiler and civil suit to wash. Below is the hierarchy of the engine room ( from top to bottom):

One of the expatriate (of which I am yet to know his designation) came to call me that the CE wants to do some work that I should assist him. I went to help him bring in some of the things he wants to use to work in the workshop. He later instructed me to empty the dustbin which I did with the help of my cabin mate and the motorman. I also went down the engine room with both of them to clean the filter of the high sea check.
Veronica one of the ladies came to call us that provisions for the ship had arrived and that we should collect and put in store. While we were collecting the provisions I moved close to Alhaji Sariyu He told me he wondered why people are so selfish. He said the monthly allocation for the ship for food provisions is 1.2m but that everyone wants to cut their own share. From the captain, Chief Cook up to the people bringing it. We both agreed that that is the general attitude of Nigerians always wanting to get selfish benefits for any chance given to them. I was called to the 'Bridge' (Office of the captain and the ship's navigation center)today at several times to get my personal data and documents.

There's a recent directive for prepaid Meter upgrade. U will have to upgrade Ur meter with some token known as KTC 1 and KTC 2, Wic can be generated online via the released website. What u need to do is to enter Ur meter number and the token will be generated for u to input on Ur meter then u can proceed to load in Ur recharge token.

If u have previously load in the recharge token and it was successful, immediately u enter the ktc 2, Ur meter will come back to life and light will be restored to Ur apartment.

If the problem persist u will need to visit any ibedc office near u to lay complaints. They might resolve to come remove Ur meter for repair. There's this terminology they are using ' tamper code'. Your meter might have enter tamper code' and will need repair. During the process of repair, they will reconnect u to direct Connection and after Ur meter has been repaired, they will load it with accumulated debts incurred during the process u are using the light while they repair Ur meter that is to say u will be using free light, no bills or any sort will be brought to u..

Be well informed that they are not even removing meter at the moment, the last time I reached out to them, the official said ibedc didn't know what they are going to do next... I just hope the code u will generate works for Ur meter.
My prepaid Meter rejected the ktc code and they came to reconnect me to direct Connection and my meter is yet to be removed for repair.

I left Nigeria to Canada late 2020. Five days ago, I pre-ordered my first iPhone which is a 15 pro max and it’s meant to arrive in the next weeks. He was killed by armed robbers who have been terrorizing the Estate in Isolo.

They came for him (Teni's father) simply bcoz they knew him to be a retired General who they felt had not allowed them to operate freely in the Estate.

They also said he mobilized the Estate security and they said he equipped them with guns to challenge the robbers.

So, when the robbers came, the Estate security outfit engaged them together with the General himself and some robbers were killed while some fled.

The next time the robbers came was like a large gatherings of conglomerate of robbers purposely to kill one person, and that was how he was killed.

Yes this happened in Okota area and I remembered vividly…General Akpata was no nonsense man who always ready to deal with armed robbers terrorizing the area but what happened that night was a surprise cuz nobody dear him.

Yeah as someone mentioned earlier, the father was stopping armed robbery in the area and he had a gun which he used to kill them. He became so popular for his exploits. But the armed robbers came for him alone one night so I heard to stop him and they succeeded. So sad. Armed robbery then was crazy and they were unstoppable. Don't try to be friendly to your workmates. They aren't your friends.

Try your best to tackle the sleeping issue: it isn't going to be easy because night was designed by the creator for resting so it's going to take a lot of real discipline to train your brain not to try shut down at night.

For a start, I'll suggest a start taking a bit of Nescafé. I do take it, and it helps me tackle sleep whenever I want to read at night. (I take it by 9pm, and it keeps me awake till 3am) before I finally sucumb to sleep so as to help me prepare for the next day's lectures.

I also hear bitter kola also helps; I've seen night drivers taking a tank load of bitter kola when driving at night.
