gforce5:While that is true, are we going to overlook women's hypergamy and cultural reasons? Because, the reality is that a woman who contributes financially in the household will demand certain privileges and be assertive/opinionated (money gives power). How many Nigerian men can cope with such a system? |
Badadvisor:Real estate pays better in Enugu than Port-harcourt? |
Abigalbee98:OK. Are you in Taiwan at the moment? |
AyeMoJuba:Who supported the man who did all this in 2015 to become president? |
Abigalbee98:Which country do you mean? |
Nwatulee:This is a life lesson - never give room for irresponsibility. This same attitude is why some countries are lawless and dangerous than others - they give room for criminals to thrive. Don't give a yard, as they would take a mile. I understand she helped you, which is why you still have feelings for her. However, if you really feel she should be rewarded, maybe calculate it and pay her off to clear your conscience. Because to me, you are her retirement plan. Also, if you are not a party person, I don't see why you should get married to one. Unlike physics where like pairs repel; in basic biology, like pairs attract. You met her that way, you should leave her that way. That is who she is. It is hard to change an adult's behaviour esp past 25 years old in this hyper-active century. |
pansophist:I understand the aspect of naturalised citizens of Africa descent studying in Nigeria, but Nigerians in Nigeria who make their money from Nigeria would be unable to adequately fund for at least 4 years an undergrad in any European country going forward. This is assuming the student gets issued a visa to study. Those who can fund their children's tuition as undergrads would prefer the US/Canada. Eastern European countries were Nigerian private universities' biggest competitors. Anti-immigration sentiments, strict visa issuances and the decline in the dollar have eroded the gap they had over the likes of CU, Babcock and now Wigwe University. |
sunnymighty:N2M will take her nowhere in South Africa. This is assuming she even gets a visa to enter the country. Nigerians who plan to write the NCLEX exams in South Africa don see something in visa application. Hopefully, the newly opened centre in Nairobi will offer them chances to write the exam. Her best bet is the UK. OP should look for well-wishers, especially relatives or friends who reside abroad, to support her lofty dreams. Continue to work and save what you can. I am not too familiar with nursing degrees, but are you sure a degree from a college of health would open you to opportunities as BSc in Nursing? This would help adjust your plans and ambitions. Also, does it mean since the ban, Nigerians cannot get a work visa to work in the UAE? What about those in the country who will need a renewal of their work visas? cc: Pemisire113 |
JasonNOTStatham:Is there anything wrong with eating boiled eggs regardless of the number? Nutritionally, boiled eggs are better off than fried eggs. The issue here is eating them with a swallow, Tuwo for that matter. The major issue is OP's Internet image and his bashing of women. One would think he gets the best of women. Another issue is the spoon. But eating boiled eggs is not a bad thing. |

Kelechi009:Not just that, they disregard every human phenomenon and believe in lovey-dovey practices. They are so regressive that they don't practice what they preach and NEVER preach what they practice. So-called liberals have actually clamped down on opposing views than conservatives, and this includes their Nigerian counterparts who act as Ikoyi Democrats. There are many of them on TwitterNG and Nairaland. Na dem go first shout racism even when the statement isn't racist or won't allow the next person to speak. At least, let's hear what s/he has to say. In my view, Ukraine wouldn't necessarily win or lose; instead, the conflict would likely settle down to the point where it is forgotten, which is now the case. People would stop paying as much attention to the war and forget its origins.Should Trump win, Ukraine would be forgotten and invariably lose. It would herald a multipolar world. The Chinese have done well by standing with Russia. I don't like Islam, neither do I want the future to be liberal. Ideally, I want a world where people can voice their concerns and would not be cancelled, you can respond to an opposite opinion. Islam and liberalism are two sides of the same coin, and both of them detest having differing opinions. If you disagree with Islamists' views on religion, they will kill you in cold blood, whereas liberals will report you to your employer and ensure your employment is terminated permanently.I actually want to see Islam play a pivotal role in the West since so-called liberals love it and would never criticise the religion. These are the same people who said French cartoonists were becoming so provocative in their artistry even after some were butchered by Islamists. They never said the same when Jesus was defiled by the same cartoonists. I want them to live side by side with their Koran buddies. Sometimes, I think those rich mullahs in the Gulf sponsor these so-called liberal movements to wreck the Western society, because their arguments don't make commonsense. Unlike leftards, Islamists are honest in their dealings. I don't have to like them, but I applaud their honesty and steadfastness in what they aim to achieve and their modus operandi. I like honesty. Although I dislike conservatives like Elon Musk, he has so far managed to let everyone express their opinions, and if someone disagrees, they are free to disagree rather than to cancel you outrightly.Yes, while he has his side, which doesn't align with some of our aims, I admire his determination to protect people's right to free speech and the right to oppose others. The belief that people's opinions should not be countered is where I have a problem with Islamists and so-called liberals. Regardless of who the person is and what it represents, every opinion should be questioned. I also appreciate the work by Bill Ackman! Both men cannot be cancelled. I'm not sure If you are aware, In 2017 Chimamanda had to re-explain her statement that transgender women are different from women who are born female because the West wanted to make trans issues mainstream, according to "The Guardian.": theguardian.com/books/2017/mar/13/chimamanda-ngozi-adichie-clarifies-transgender-commentsTalking about trans-mumbo jumbo, I don't see their tweets and posts/rallies these days as previously. Those people were mad when they went on rampage with their belief that a man could be a woman. It seems the economic uncertainty has hit them on their kon kon heads. It is the reason I say these new age ideologies emanate when people don chop food belly full. Wetin concern Northern Christian women with trans rights when Fulani herdsmen are waylaying people upandown? The most annoying na our people wey never inhale generator fumes dey follow chook mouth inside. People wey dem flog during election are chanting eligibility tweets. Shey economic meltdown don make everybody focus on what matters to human existence? You see them narrate how livable a city is because of LGTV whereas these imps don't make up to 1% of an entire population. It irks me because there are more serious factors regarding living in a place rather than because two men are not allowed to marry. Nansense! I always downvote every one of such post. Sha, birth rates are dwindling and the majority comes from so-called liberals. As far as the liberal disease and head-slamming buddies stay together in that part of the world, I am good. They can't just say what womanhood is and isn't. She had to backtrack after nearly being cancelled. That indicates to me that you cannot even oppose the mob or hold a different perspective as a liberal. Your career is at stake. I don't want that kind of society, so maybe there should be another group between conservatives and liberals. It should called common sense group. It is ret@rded nonsense, excuse my words! These people nearly, if at all they haven't done so, changed basic biology. I began reading, "sex is a construct, gender is a blah blah blah". These are some of the reasons I support the rise of China. Someone has to counter the stoopid narrative that the West is a hub of saner climes. I also wish India, Vietnam and the likes of Indonesia and Co rise economically. But in reality, the future is traditional and conservative. Churches in the UK and Canada have come alive because of the influx of African migrants and those from the Philippines. These people are likely to be conservative on social issues, especially after attaining naturalisation status. Generally, as people get older, they become more conservative. The birth rates of immigrants in some Western countries outstrip that of the natives. Outside the West, population growth rates continue to increase although slowly, from largely traditional and conservative societies. So, they (so-called liberals) would be outnumbered. |
Treadway:The problem started when Buhari became president in 2015. The incompetent feudalist should not have been elected. He ruined things. Oil production plunged because he allowed oil theft with wanton abandon (Tinubu kept mute even when his buddy Elumelu was wailing). He supervised the marauding brothers slaughtering and destroying people's lives and investments. He closed borders and permitted brazen corruption. He did tumbo-tumbo with the naira and printed it as if it were tissue paper. Those who campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015 are wicked, callous, terrible, unintelligent and useless people! |
Most of the Agbadorian intellectwats on Nairaland are nowhere to be found these days. I rarely see their posts. The worst go be those wey no get dual nationality. I cannot pity Nigerians for they are chronic tribalists and religious bigots! They deserve everything they go through. Na why I dey very cautious of those who campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015. I detest them and steer clear. Wicked modafvckers! tensazangetsu20: |

OkoEmm:Thanks for agreeing, as it is logical. As for ABUAD, the demand is there. I have stated on Nairaland as far back as 2017 that Covenant University (currently highest ranking private university) would be Nigeria's Harvard in the future. As long as public universities continue to decline in quality and with the attendant social issues, many parents will send their children to private universities. So, the high ranking ones, of which ABUAD is a member, esp in Law, would see applicants soar. Our parents attended public secondary schools but sent us to private secondary schools. Then, a segment sent theirs to private universities and others to public universities. In the future, it would converge as we would send our children to private universities. The certainty is there that we are sending our children to private secondary schools. Gerrard59:I suppose do open church ![]() |
pansophist:Apart from Ghana and South Africa, I don't see which country Nigerians prefer charging less than that for foreign students (undergraduate). In fact, with the reduction of foreign students' slots by most Western countries, the option pool declines further. The places where 15K USD would go a long way as a foreign undergraduate from Nigeria are: South American countries, Japan and South Korea. I don't see the point of studying in India as it is a stoopid option. Malaysia would have been better, but offers fewer post-school opportunities. To get visa to Eastern European universities na war. Wigwe University (its name) would thrive. Unlike the American University of Nigeria (owned by Atiku), which is located in the north, his is in the south (the source of students eager to study and parents willing to spend). OkoEmm:But students are currently in Madonna, IU in Benin, AUN, Landmark, CU, ABUAD, Babcock etc. It would have customers. In fact, those who could have gone to AUN would study there. Baze is thriving to date. Wigwe's influence would make the graduates acceptable in corporate Nigeria, as Access Bank doesn't employ graduates from most state universities. The future is bright. As our private universities grew in strength, reputation and the naira plummeted, few Nigerians went to Ghana. So, the tale about studying abroad because of work study is weak as most are postgraduate students. Mind you, the university doesn't need plenty of applicants sef. See my comments about getting visa to Eastern Europe, which was a major competitor to private universities in Nigeria. Except for the uber-rich, very few families sponsor their children to foreign universities as undergraduates. |
Kelechi009:Maybe the Bible Belt men haven't come to terms with it. But in an increasingly divided and diverse America, I don't see young white men enrolling into the army to defend a country that lampoons them. Already, their enrollment numbers have dwindled. These so-called liberals don't know what it is coming. Young white men would be so disenchanted from defending the country unless they are sure of two things: A) Their rights are secured B) They stopped being demonised by the media and political elites. Each time I bring up this example of military service, the usual response from Feminazi is that Men start wars therefore men dying in wars should be what is expected of them. There are also men that who have this belief, I had a semi-heated debate with a close friend who is Christian on men being the sole problem of this world due to Putin's recent war and If we are extinct, life would be great. Then I questioned him about the "God of the Bible" and the numerous instructions that was given to fight war & kill the oppressors, he could give me a reply. I went further to ask him about Colonialism and the British Empire with "Queen Elizabeth I" and how many countries were conquered during her time, he still couldn't give me a response. Even right now we are still facing Neo-colonialism because it hasn't ended yet.It was the same response feminists in the reddit/feminist sub gave when Sweden approved women's enrollment in national service. So, I am not surprised. My big issue with these people is that they don't understand how humans are; believe all humans are the same; don't understand history nor study it etc. Countries have always fought wars to protect themselves or expand their territories and men have been at the forefront of this for the betterment of everyone. Na why men dey go foreign posting so that they earn more to support the family. Women, hypergamous species ab initio, gravitate towards men who earn more. It is the same with the animal kingdom. You see why I question the benefit of marriage to today's men? Because a man cannot strive to provide and protect YET the woman isn't grateful and demonises him. It is better to remain alone and be selfish. According to CBC, since Russia's full-scale invasion nearly two years ago, most men have been banned from leaving Ukraine. That hasn't stopped thousands from making illegal border crossings to escape. Ukraine said it needs more soldiers or could lose, Imagine 20 years later after this war, a bunch of Feminazi(s) will come and start dictating how things should run and how they are marginalised in Ukraine. My projection is that should Ukraine win, it would imbibe Western feminist ideologies and introduce mumbo-jumbo trans rights. However, should Russia win, it becomes more traditional. Ukraine would need more men than Russia, so when I read the posts by Westerners on Russia's birth rates, I laugh. Russia can afford to recruit men from nearby territories, which the West cannot do. No immigrant male in the West would want to fight for the West neither would young white men. It is similar to the China-Taiwan issue. Mainland China can afford to flood Taiwan with men and defeat it relentlessly. Birth rates in Taiwan is low and I think, lower than in Mainland China. I look forward to the end of this social experiment, but one thing I can bodly predict is that the future is conservative, traditional and Islamic. Feminists should be prepared to wear the Hijab and their Grindr men slamming their heads five times daily! ![]() |
Maxcollins042:What you wrote has nothing to do with my point that Christianity is a foreign concept to Nigeria as it did not originate from any ethnic group in Nigeria. It is not indigenous compared to say Hindusim to Indians. I have nothing against the religion, but it is foreign to Nigeria. The same applies to Islam. We agree to disagree. |
Maxcollins042:Exceptions do not make the norm. The majority in those places view the Christian God as foreign. Even the natives who are Christians understand that aspect and refrain from evangelism or don't force it. |
Maxcollins042:You say so because you were born into a Christian family, most likely in the south. Your views would have differed if you were born in Hong Kong or India. Those people see the Christian God as a foreign entity. What do you say about that? |
Maxcollins042:Which indigenous ethnic group in Nigeria formulated Christianity? |
Tallesty1:That state WOULD never beat the excruciating poverty it is associated with. To worsen things, their love for juju, love for Fulani culture and archaic cultural practices would exacerbate things. |
tensazangetsu20:For more than a decade, the dude has been on this sheet. Even his oga Cap28 and 50Calibre and the other one who stays at Peckham, Shymeex, have retired, but he continues. |
lastkingsman:Anyone who wants to leave Nigeria should convert every savings to dollars and store them under his/her pillow. That is what I told my parents to do as we planned towards my relocation. We changed about 20K dollars then at 360 naira and continue converting every savings into dollars. Never save in naira. That is the mistake. All the payments I made were made in dollars. Nothing concerned me with the naira. |
tensazangetsu20:The narrative about japa after COVID largely contributed. My female friend wey study at University of Ottawa had her uncles, who work at either Shell or ExxonMobil, sponsored her grad studies. I recalled when she encouraged me to apply as the universities are affordable, but what about living expenses? What about the chances of getting a student visa (which was 8 out of 10 being denied)? What about scholarships? To do hard and thorough research good o. |
folake4u:My pleasure. In my time on Nairaland, I see more reviews and posts about living in the West (can be understood) and very few from Asia (depending upon region; I don't consider Arab countries to be Asia, though). So, a growing part of my posts going forward will be to explain how life is in this part of this world based on my knowledge, people's experiences, scientific studies, government reports, general surveys etc. I am where I am largely because of information which other people share, so I will pay it forward by sharing the same. |
Raalsalghul:Thanks for the mention. I will say three reasons are behind the mentality: Culture: Some ethnic groups in Nigeria view the place of the man as the provider of every material thing. These cultures dictate men go all the way to show that they "deserve" the women they want. Some cultures are worse than others. This also applies to India, as certain cultures in India have similar practices. In fact, I will say it is global, but the degree/extent differs based on my second reason. Poverty: The poorer a society is, the less likelihood love or genuine likeness exist in that society. Love cannot/does not exist in the world's poverty capital - Tensa20. Using the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs: those at the nadir cannot express love because survival is paramount. Attitudes towards sex: This is a hypothesis, though, but many ethnic groups demonise sex (add religion, and it exacerbates). I posit that societies that abhor non-marital sexual intercourse push men to extreme levels to show they are worthy of being allowed access to the vagina. This is in contrast to Southern Africa, where the norms regarding sex are more liberal than in Nigeria. This attitude stems from childhood, where young males are told that "make money and women will come" or "make money before thinking of sex". This results in a large population of young males postponing sex till when they have a bit of change. However, testosterone, a hormone, is not a m.oron. Many young males in the country are fighting against their hormones but cannot release them the appropriate way because they will go to hell. So, I hypothesise that when they have money, they go all the way to prove that "what money cannot do, more money can do". They have been sexually deprived since birth. So, I understand that POV. sirjamesjnr:Praise the Lord!!!! 🙌 See more here: https://www.nairaland.com/6643241/nigerian-men-failed-women |
ogbonti:Go and tell this woman she suffers racism as an Igbo woman. Shey na the same America una dey? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J6CrgfBW4Q cc: IbeOkehie |
Nokio2:Plus the continuous butchering of the natives by Fulani herdsmen. That makes it a double whammy. |
luvinhubby:Other Nigerians can do so, not Igbos. In 2015, 2019 and 2023, Igbos never voted for the governments in power. So, why should they protest against what they warned other Nigerians about? |
