Read some of the comments and you will tell me that blacks are equal to whites ![]() Useless people! Some of them cannot outrightly condemn the incident because it is their kinsman or because of religion. I no even know wetin make me open this thread. Filthy people! |
9japride:Total nonsense! Scores of people were butchered in Plateau even when the location was close to a security post. You have an elite paying $60K on the Internet to the same kidnappers, and you put out the bold?! Oh Please! You lots, both supporters and politicians, are NOT intelligent! |
Dexy4yah:I was like this when I passed one terrible and horrible road in Imo where I went to write TOEFL. While on the road, I silently whispered to myself "God, please make it possible for me to leave this country". Work on it and plan assiduously, and it will happen. Best wishes! |
Mandela27:I am curious and I mean this without malice or ill-thought, how old are you? |
Dpharisee:Don't ever trust any Nigerian who campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015. Those people are evil. If they have a gun, they will kill you. If they have an opportunity to share with you even if you are the most qualified, they will not share it. Hold that grudge and hold it till you die. Don't forgive or forget. You are dealing with demons! |
omohayek:Typical Nigerian intellectwat blowing big big grammar. The man you quoted is right in holding grudges. Here you are trying to gaslight him with tribal allegations. What tribalism is greater than that of those who voted for Tinubu because of Emi Lokan? Those who burnt the shops of other Nigerians on the basis of ethnicity? Those who flogged their kith because they looked like Igbos? I am not surprised how you people think though. I have always maintained that people should understand Nigeria for what it is, rather than what they expect it to be: Gerrard59: |
Apparently, OP campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015. Never take such people serious. Anything happening to them is well deserved. Don't forgive. Don't forget. Hold the grudge till you die! |
dontrulee:So, what do you do now? P.S. There is no much gain in having sex. But testosterone - the male - hormone is not a m.oron. Remove testosterone and most men would not be interested in sex. But that very hormone is what makes a man who he is. |
Jman06:If you want to argue your point constructively, mention me in any of those threads. I doubt you read them. If you like, don't advocate for black men to develop their societies. Wait for women to do so. |
Rich4god:It is not a hypothesis, but a fact. Children from single parent homes especially those from single mothers perform poorly in all ramifications compared to children from two-parent households. This is a universal fact. It's a different game when a woman lost her husband and is left alone with the children. In this case, 60-70% of the time, the husband's relatives helps the woman to train the child. But that's not the case of baby mamas/single mothers. While that is largely true, it is not the case any longer, as many men have been killed as a result of ethnic genocides and worsening insecurity. So we have a growing number of young widows whose husbands have been killed by Fulani terrorists and kidnappers. Go to the North Central part of the country and see the number of widows whose husbands have been butchered. Young women with young children. See the massacre which happened in Plateau recently, where children not more than five years old became fatherless and, in some cases, motherless. Those communities and the numerous ones in Benue, Kogi, Imo, Kaduna etc., would witness a rise in single mother parenting. Not as a result of indiscriminate sexual affairs, but because of terrible insecurity. It is the reason countries with intelligent elites (the men) ensure the society is peaceful so that the two-parent household systems run efficiently without disruption. Nigerian elites are not intelligent neither are Nigerian men. Single parenting, especially single mother parenting, does more harm than good to any society or group. It is a major reason Asian-American children and families outperform their African American counterparts. In fact, that very reason is a major factor why black African migrants' children out-perform African American children: the presence of a two parent household for the former, and its absence for the latter. Any man who tells you he wants a baby-mama is an irresponsible, uneducated, uncouth and terribly useless man. There are many contraceptive methods these days, so there is no excuse to wander your smelly preek around impregnating women and abdicating the responsibility of catering for the child (ren). That said: yet another example to show you how Nigerian men and black men in general have failed their women: https://www.nairaland.com/6643241/nigerian-men-failed-women |
Ibrahimlagosian:How many times have you protested the killings in the Middle Belt? There are Muslims slaughtered in Zamfara and far-flung Sudan (black people like you and I), Ibrahimlagosian, how times have you been concerned about their welfare? |
Regex:If na when I dey Nigeria, I bin dey consider am small. But now? N to the O. Two reasons: - Humans are tribal, and the tribalism we have in Nigeria, considering the poverty, makes me disregard whatever is considered racist here. - These people have built functioning societies, which we have never attempted to build. For crying out loud, Chinese surpassed us in average verbal scores on the GRE. We no reach. It didn't dey. The best way is to be humble and learn like the Chinese and others did. This arrogance and measuring ourselves would do us no good. The worst are those living in Lokoja and Markudi thinking they are African Americans. |
tensazangetsu20:One day, people will realise that cultural characteristics is the key to prosperity and development. We have too many cultures and cultural practices which are inimical to prosperity, pragmatism and critical thinking in Africa. I really don't know why some of our people compare themselves to the white man. It amuses me. For crying out loud, you are inhaling generator fumes then believe you and the man exploring space are the same? ![]() |
Sladem05:But that is exactly what I stated: East Asia is the only region that can be compared to the Western world. Nowhere else comes close. Those ones think that Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Banana Island, Lekki, PH and Abuja are the only parts of Nigeria 😂😂😂😂. Those kind of people will make unfair comparisons between the elites of africa to middle class of the west and think that somehow means Nigerians are richer. Even the much of the rich in Nigeria would fall into upper or middle middle class in the West. It would seem appropriate to compare the elites of Africa to the elites in the other parts of the world and the difference is crazier. The African billionaires do not measure to the billionaires abroad. The richest 10 people alone in America have a net worth that around 2-3 trillion dollars. That’s enough to rival Africa’s entire GDP. It would be insane to even compare the likes of Dangote, Adenuga, Oppenheimer, Johann Rupert,Rabiu to the likes of Elon Musk(though born in SA, his mother was Canadian and he made all his accomplishments in both USA and Canada), Bill Gates, Larry Page, Bezos and Warren Buffet. The elite of Africa are little children compared to those overseas. It is not even the billionaire size that trips me; after all, India has a large billionaire class, but many parts still look like sub-Saharan Africa. My own is the comparison these so-called our "online elite class" make with the West. I have noticed that many so-called educated black people who manage to have money tend to place their shoulders with the Western world rather than looking inwards and seeing that we are far behind. It is why when they eventually visit East Asia, they are stunned that there is a region which actually measures up to the Western world. Their body dey calm down. Black people are way behind in every developmental indices. P.S. I don't consider Elon Musk to be an African. The concept of African in this context is a black man. White Namibians or White South Africans can always point to their richer cousins in the West as proof that they are developed. Afrocentrics and Pan Africanists are the worst of the worst. They claim everything as their own from Moses to Jesus to the Israelites to the Moors or Ancient Egyptians. Even The ones that compare themselves to the Western world deep down know that it’s a crazy comparison to make. Comparing Africa and The West is like comparing a jungle to a civilisation. They really shouldn’t try that sacrilege. And the worst part is that those are the same people that will still spend more time in the West than they will in Nigeria 😂😂Those are a bunch of clowns, and we have them even in the US who are African Americans. Always claiming nonsense and sh!t! Today, they want black anime; tomorrow, they are wondering why black people do not fancy Talyor Swift. Tomorrow, they start chanting mumbo-jumbo about certain tourist locations trying to "cancel" it, yet money dem no get. Always wanting to be like the Whites, yet dem no get money and high living standards. You have foolish Nigerian women going to Morocco and Lebanon because it is an "African country", then try to cancel it on the Internet. Meanwhile, the top ten source markets for tourists to the country, Nigeria no dey inside. https://www.hotelmanagement-network.com/data-insights/source-markets-morocco/?cf-view The ignorance and arrogance which is garnished in chronic privation is befuddling. Those Nigerians that speak that make those comparisons are the ones that have never experienced real Nigeria. They are the ones in diaspora or are here but wealthy.Which is exactly the problem. As I write, there are miscreants on Reddit/Nigeria who believe Nigerians in Nigeria don't "warm" their soups. These arrogant ret@rds believe every Nigerian has a microwave and refrigerator. Meanwhile, statistics show that only 1% of Lagosians (where the bulk of the middle class resides) have an airconditioner. Imagine that figure in a tropical country, yet air-cons is the norm in a tropical Singapore. I keep writing it, Nigeria exists outside leafy parts of Lagos, Abuja and Port-harcourt. Apart from Abuja, the elite areas in Lagos and Port-harcourt don't compare to the elite parts anywhere in the Western world. A place where there is no publicly piped water system cannot be described as an elite neighbourhood. |
Sladem05:Depends on the part of Asia. Comparable with parts of Southeast Asia. Better than South Asia. Far behind East Asia. Countries like Brazil and Mexico really have the potential to be global powerhouses. But whether that actually occurs is yet to be seenSome Nairalanders say Nigerians are richer than Americans and Europeans. https://www.nairaland.com/7937278/why-nigerians-think-whites-richer/1#127517217 The West is light years ahead of Africa to such an extent that they make Africans look like a lower form of humans 😂People don't know how terrible it is. My annoyance is the ignorance and arrogance our people have. I shudder when they compare themselves to Western countries. The only people who should do so are East Asians. Everybody else should not try that sacrilege. |
tensazangetsu20:Still does not make Nigeria top five worst countries. |
tensazangetsu20:Entirely untrue. If Nigeria is one of the top five worst countries, what about other sub-Saharan African countries? Honduras is a murder capital for crying out loud. They shoot there for a living. |
tctrills:When life was good in Nigeria, the price of oil was high, ditto production. The population was not as large as today. What we are suffering is the persistent reliance on oil as the major source of foreign exchange. Are our companies getting more competitive now? The answer is No. We both know this so why are you finding it hard to say so.The best way for our firms to be competitive is via a devalued currency. About the bold, how am I finding it hard to say so? I clearly agreed with you in my last post. Many manufacturing firms are reporting a loss but somehow, you don't see it as an obstacle.Because of over-reliance on imported materials. In 2016, during the recession, many companies had to resort to local suppliers to replace imported supplies. Unfortunately, this could not be sustained because of those factors you listed, which I agreed with you. This is no longer about your opinion or mine. Let's look and see how the falling currency is affecting business and the economy.Businesses are being affected by falling demand and rising costs of inputs. We literally import petroleum, so our foreign reserves have dwindled over the years coupled with low production even below OPEC quotas. But how you believe a stronger currency devoid of an increase in oil price and production rather than export of non-oil products will help Nigeria is what makes me confused. What and where exactly do you have a problem with the naira? |
tctrills:But aren't those items I mentioned even when this thread was posted? I clearly stated that those measures should be put in place to further encourage manufacturing. But saying the currency is the obstacle is where I disagree with you. |
tensazangetsu20:Are those countries offering tourist visas to Nigerians living in Nigeria? ![]() If no, the best is to lock up on childbearing and plan for the children's education to good schools abroad. Good luck to everyone involved. |
fullclub:I am not surprised. Ever since one Indian dude with degrees from Caltech and Yale Business School went on Twitter seeking for jobs, only to return to Trinidad and Tobago, I know say na every man to himself. People quoted this guy's tweet asking him to send his CV and all, nothing comot. They offered assistance and well wishes, na lie! Bros returned home and returned to the US as a student. This time at Harvard. https://www.nairaland.com/7535720/nigerian-students-now-americans-how In this life, na all man to himself, God to us all. |
tctrills:Both men failed. P.S. In 2015, Nigerians voted for one of them because he told them "I will phight kwarruption", and they believed. Again, the civil rule of Buhari also ban the importation of rice.He did not just ban foreign rice, but closed land borders. That was the major problem. Well, he was voted to phight kwarruption. Let's not forget how he emboldened his brothers (Fulani herdsmen) to go on the rampage destroying people's crops and slaughtering farmers across the nation. Then, the government spent 100s of billion in local production. Till today, the CBN's anchor borrowers program has not been able to recoup 10% of the loans it gave for rice production. Billions were stolen.Part of the reason why local production did not take off as expected was because of Buhari's brothers, who went about destroying farmlands, waylaying people, kidnapping them and butchering them. Buhari wrecked havoc. As of today, foreign rice still dominates our markets.Foreign rice dominates because many people who invest in agriculture have their hands burnt because of Buhari's brothers. So, local production could not keep up. This thread exemplifies it: https://www.nairaland.com/7723312/nigerian-kidnap-gangs-drive-big-time Buhari and his brothers did everything. People like Alore are extremely proud of their decisions and have no regrets. However, after installing the incompetent feudalist, they fled as cowards! It was a total disaster so why do you want us to repeat the same foolishness again? Please don't misquote me. I never advocated for the closure of borders or ban of imported goods, but the naira is good at where it is. You are the one advocating for a strong naira, but I am saying it is not possible due to low oil production vis-a-vis our population. Oil like you mentioned is our major export , but we produce too little to cater to everyone's needs in the country. The naira cannot be strong as you want. That time don pass. |
CaveAdullam:When Efosa promoted the book, he outlined examples of countries and instances where prosperity begets institutions. The same applies to developed countries. They had ongoing prosperity, which necessitated the creation of strong institutions as time went on. The institutions did not come before prosperity. They came after. |
tctrills:I agree with the bold. Have you been to any of our big industrial estates from Agbara in Ogun state to Aba in Abia state. If you have, you will see the number of manufacturing firms that have either fully or partially pack up.Does this mean we should continue importation? Should we not look towards aiding manufacturing in the country? Manufacturing is not as easy as you make it seem.Obviously, manufacturing is not easy anywhere as it costs a lot and takes a long time to break even let alone make profits. Also, the involvement of PPE makes it more difficult. This is why people target service and trade industries since they can produce profits faster. You are more likely to lose money going into manufacturing than importation. As I earlier mentioned, I listed solutions to enable manufacturing work. Another solution is to create industrial clusters in each senatorial district in every state. Let each state attract businesses that can produce based on the comparative advantage they have. |
tctrills:Because they sell to Nigerians. Japanese and Korean companies which sell to residents experience the same. Those who export generate billions in profits. The solution is to reduce imports of raw materials which can be sourced from within the country. Target the export market. It is good to invest in manufacturing provided you are selling to foreigners. Let's take cassava: invest in processing it into ethanol and export every drop of it. Labour is cheap in Nigeria. As I mentioned, the issues are logistics, security (for farmers & outgrowers) and high import levies on equipment. |
Originalsly:So, what is the ChipsAct all about? Besides, the US is already the world's largest economy with the deepest pool of financial capital. So, she is already attractive to foreign investors. However, in areas she needs investment, carpets are rolled. Very long carpets. It is a lie to say the US does not roll out the carpets for foreign investments. |
jedisco:I understand country-specific context, but using "there" for "their" and "borrow" for "lend" no follow. Only Nigerians do so. Only us, even an elite. |
benalvino3:Next time, you should state "By sheer numbers, Indians hardly bring dependants compared to Nigerians". This is because according to the stats from the Home Office, Indians come second in dependant ratio. It is that ratio which got the Home Office alarmed, not actual students' numbers after all, amidst the geopolitical brouhaha, the Chinese were at the top as of 2022. |
tensazangetsu20:Why can't they invest the money into a business in Nigeria? ![]() |
MavisEleanor:No idea. Lawyers are best positioned to answer the question, but they should come with empirical evidence. I no fit lie give you is not an evidence. |
benalvino3: benalvino3:Nigerians brought more dependants, and Indians came second. But you lied that Indians hardly take their families along. I have already told you, accept that you lied. You won't die if you do. P.S. The debate is not who gets the most visas, but who takes the most dependants alongside the primary applicants. Nigerians and Indians do so very well. |
benalvino3:I don't need to understand people who lie branzely on the Internet. |
