Chicagograduate:TopMan already refuted all of your points. If you see failing Chinese investment, blame the Nigerians involved, not the Chinese. |
Odidigboigbo:They got the qualifications of a registered pharmacist to obtain a licence from PCN to operate it. Without the licence, they cannot operate the store. It is why at a point, most Igbo men who owned big pharmacies married ladies who studied Pharmacy. "To the best of your knowledge, 80% of pharamcies in Nigeria...." Where did you get the figure from? |
marenx:No. But you need a licence from PCN to operate a pharmacy. That is only issued if the "head" of the pharmacy is a registered and qualified pharmacist. Nothing concerns medicine with selling drugs as a pharmacy. PCN not NMA regulates the industry. |
nairalanda1:Relative to the dollar? No. South Korea and Japan are good examples of countries with weak curreiences yet are major exporters. Nigeria does not need a strong currency. Countries with strong currencies tend to have smaller populations and/or massive natural resources. |
123papas:While the rest of your posts are apt, the bold is very dangerous and should be avoided. Argentina and Lebanon did the same. Ask them how far. |
Iamzik:Are those Orthodox churches? How are their worship services and mode of practice? |
That very statement is so irritating and disgusting! If I was a member, that ends it for me. I hate nonsense! This is a major reason I find it hard to attend Nigerian churches for a long time - pastors open their mouths talking anyhow. |
jmoore:Interesting perspective. But countries at war think differently o ![]() See Ukraine vs Russia. |
Outside Lagos, Abuja and maybe Port-harcourt, nobody is buying any of those packages for his woman. Maybe sugar daddies and yahoo yahoo boys. That said, I would love to see a thread, Nairaland or Twitter, where women narrate what they bought for their men. 'Cos everytime na so so men dey buy for women. Abi men no deserve gifts too? ![]() |
Raalsalghul:She is Asian. My bet would be on the Philippines and to a lesser extent Vietnam. This one our people dey apply the "white" tag to every fair looking individual. ![]() But e get white European woman wey never come across Nigerian food at all? |
Karleb: I understand. Even Tayo Aina, the YouTuber don buy passport. As for our elites, majority are dumb. Look at Wole Soyinka for instance. When I say I don't rate our elites, it cuts across all ethnic groups and walks of life. So, whether politics or business or clergy, I don't rate them. They are so unintelligent! ALL OF THEM! Wetin I don see for so far, I detest them! I am probably sure I will get more angrier when I enter China, Hong Kong and even Malaysia. An acquaintance went to Vietnam for a scientific conference and was shocked there was constant electricity. The universities he said were performing research our federal universities haven't done. This is someone who attended a first generation university for both BSc and MSc and had a very high CGPA. Nigerian elites are worthless! |
Nazgul:Please also tell them that they should not have more than two children. That is the major factor behind this set of people remaining poor. I don't know when next we will experience economic growth as it was in Jonathan's era. That is the only way those with more than two children fit avoid poverty. Have the first child, space like three years, then have the second. Close shop OR have them within a short period of time and lock up. |
pansophist:Which means it makes sense to invest in hotels in those countries rather than Nigeria. At least, one gets dollar carrying tourists. Another problem is our visa system. We label every country equal, which is not a good based on economics. We ought to be visa free to countries whose GDP per capita is above $30K. Security and the image of theft are also major problems. We are not friendly people. Most Nigerians are very angry and aggressive. Nigeria has tourist attractions, but many factors hinder their exploration. |
ednut1:One NL big man entrepreneur (his posts show such) created a thread asking for gay escorts. He edited the contents after being lambasted by fellow NLders. For a bank director and a Muslim for that matter to chat with Bob who we know what he is and what he does says something. No wonder Bob lives a lavish life. Shey you both were neighbours? ![]() |
Karleb:As a counterpoint, there are good private universities in the country, which in my opinion, should measure up based on undergraduate studies with certain schools in the UK EXCEPT the elite universities. The US is very different, so na there I go understand the pains. But better Covenant than Durham, then do MBA or MSc at Oxbridge or Imperial. However, going forward, any rich person wey no get another passport, preferably the one which has good universities that the children can attend at citizens' tuition rates never start. My concern about the insecurity is when compared to Ghanaian elites who can drive through their country without fear, the Nigerian wealthy class cannot do the same. Some of them cannot even visit their villages or even visit the nearby state without carrying armed security join body. They are just stuck in their gated compounds. |
Karleb:You mean all the appointments by Tinubu no dey benefit the average Yoruba person? I honestly doubt. Contracts and jobs based on recommendations should be flowing towards to you people. I am being serious here. While an igbo man understands he is danger and is fully prepared for the inevitable, a yoruba man would give his life Tinubu, a lot of them have done that.Well, the history of Nigeria has taught us hard lessons. Only ignoramuses would say otherwise. I mean, this same people jubilated when Tinubu won and promised to remove subsidy.Subsidy had to go. My annoyance is that the same Tinubu connived and ganged up against Jonathan who did the same thing at the right time. It is that dishonesty and cruelty that I detest. And we know why he did so. Anyway, the best way to enjoy what is left of this country as a common man is to elected good leaders from the Governor, down to the local government chairman and counselor. That is true. Governanceis is local. But issues like the persistent slaughtering of people by Fulani Islamic terrorists while the state government is helpless and hapless show that the federal government has to weigh in. The Abia dude was wicked, ditto Aketi. I don't rate Nigerian elites o. I really do not rate them. |
Karleb:The truth be say, if the country's economy was like that of 2012, many people wouldn't have bothered to relocate. The insecurity has worsened terribly. But then sha, they said people are making money in Nigeria, which I agree with. But how are they enjoying it amidst the insecurity is where I am confused. |
tensazangetsu20:Future folks should start learning Spanish and Portuguese from their mothers' wombs. ![]() |
The naira is at best where it is and should even decline further. What Tinubu should do is promote exports or, at least, ease the process of exporting. The small agro exports we dey do, Fulani herdsmen would not allow farmers farm in peace. What am I even saying? Didn't Tinubu utter "Where are the cows/herdsmen" when those marauders were ransacking forests in Ondo? |
tensazangetsu20:The answer by Ednut is spot on. Get BSc/BA from a good private university (Covenant, Landmark or Babcock). Enjoy the Nigerian environment and what it has to offer. His parents have money, so savour it in Nigeria to the fullest. |
blacknp:You mean the same area Otti ransacked and rescued kidnapped victims? The same area which is abut to a military installation? The same area when Otti ordered its ransacking, Northern Muslims living there protested and accused him (Otti) of tribalism? The same area ABSU students have complained bitterly about their horror experiences, with males complaining of being robbed, beaten and sometimes maimed, while females cry of being raped and tortured? You think say na me una fit gaslight? |
That ABSU area is filled with Fulani herdsmen. Otti has a lot on his table. Honestly, living in Nigeria is a tiresome tale. Even upper middle class folks cannot live in peace. I wonder what is there to enjoy as a rich person (https://www.nairaland.com/7496716/what-exactly-does-one-enjoy) |
madscientist88:Clearly, this is someone who has not seen the inside of an aircraft. I wonder what you people think when you mention a country even native Europeans aka white people find it hard to migrate to and get a job. |
tensazangetsu20:Wow! The country has been tough ab initio. Good luck to all those involved. |
Posterity would have it that I tried. When Nigeria fully becomes an Islamic Republic, I will show my children this thread so they understand how it became possible. Start learning how to slam your heads five times daily. My own be say, my women will adorn bag of garri as a dress. But before then, I would have to enjoy their bodies so that posterity would have it that I did what a man had to do. God bless Nigeria! ![]() |
rdokoye:No point attacking the southwest aggressively as the middle belt or Eastern Nigeria. The SW, I bet, has a slight Muslim majority. The political elites in the regions are largely Muslims. The region has a predilection for Northern Muslims. Inter-ethnic marriages exist broadly and without derogatory names as that between Yoruba Christian men and Igbo women = children with tainted blood. Eastern Nigeria (SE&SS) has the highest number of Christians in Nigeria. Islamise the region and Nigeria becomes an Islamic Republic. Taking over the region should not be hard as the military is Muslim-dominated (the SE had the lowest number of applicants for military recruitment programs). The plan would be to cause unrest in the region, disrupting livelihoods and social activities. Currently, they have a large base in Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi. They will never leave those areas they have settled in. In twenty years' time, they will push for LGA positions and House of Assembly posts. With the federal backing, they will cause mayhem. They like mayhem o. Ask Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt and Israel. Mayhem fast-track their taking over jihad. Mind you, there will be no Christian president or vice-president again after Osinbajo. He was the last Christian top elected official in the country. Henceforth, it will be Muslim-Muslim. Already, Tinubu will complete 8 out of 24 years of uninterrupted Muslim presidency. |
Once Plateau and Benue are overrun, the southeast and south south are next. Posterity would judge us right for predicting these things before time. |
Lifeinlight:The problem is his course, not his location. If he had such a grade in Mathematics or Physics or even Chemistry, OP would not have issues with unemployment or even underemployment. He can even organise math classes for students without being attached to a school. I have schoolmates who live OK lives as teachers because they studied Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics etc. They are not rich, fine. But they will never lack jobs or what to eat. Work dey always dey for them. Globally, those who studied numerical courses get jobs quickly and/or high paying jobs before their non-numerical counterparts. |
tensazangetsu20:With the unofficial ban on study visa, I am curious about the profiles of Nigerians in Nigeria who spend holidays there. |
studyless123:An increase in Black Africans will disrupt the current demographics. Even Hispanics will kick against it. In fact, the native black people aka African Americans, will kick against it even though it will increase the overall black percentage. Anyway, it would never happen. The Democratic Party deported Haitians enmass, and the native black population did not make any complaints. The Midwest boasts low population densities and significant tracts of undeveloped land, offering a glimpse into the country's spatial diversity. Similarly, numerous western states feature desert landscapes and sparse populations, contributing to the overall impression of extensive uninhabited areas. On paper, but studies have shown that immigrants, especially first-generation ones prefer to go to the economic hubs and, most especially where they can find their kith. Na for MidWest US Nigerians go get their kinsmen? I once mentioned relocating to Fukuoka, but my friend said it would be too far from our people. I later reason am, and he is right. Humans are tribal and would prefer to stay near those who look, talk and think like them. Open the borders, and we will stick to economic hubs (East and West Coasts) and places where there is a high black population. Even African Americans in the Northeast started moving down to the South even when racism was said to be higher in the South than the north. Why? Because there are more blacks in the South and the weather suits the skin. las las, this is a theory which will never materialise as policymakers in the US are even glad they will not experience what they have envisaged for Europe: https://www.hoover.org/research/africa-2050-demographic-truth-and-consequences |
tensazangetsu20:Not today. It haff tey. Way before COVID, except the applicant gets selected for the national government scholarship. I wanted to apply once (the scholarship), but after researching the potential post-school economic opportunities, I cancelled the idea. |
Lifeinlight:If getting those jobs are easy, why has OP not gotten one? Teaching jobs are the easiest to get, especially with a high grade. He has to start from somewhere. You get work for am? Villa12:In Lagos, Abuja and Port-harcourt. In fact, the person I referenced was not in any of those places, but earned 63K per month and had accommodation included. The snag here is that OP's course isn't in great demand as my friend (he taught maths and further mathematics). To counter that, OP should take on more than one subject and, if possible, three sef to ensure his salary gets to 70K. |
