Rostikol: I'm talking about if you are worth 7 billion dollars, you should be looking to spend a minimum 3 billion dollars on public works.
Nigeria is a poor country of 230 million people with an annual budget of just 35 billion dollars.
I just don't see how I can in good conscience be worth 7 billion dollars in such a country and not be looking to spend AT LEAST[/b] 3 billion dollars on public works, but instead setting up some 'foundation' that might spend 50 to a 100 million dollars if that. . Now I know you are a fvcking illiterate! It is official! No need to question your mental capacity. So, you think any billionaire or even a well-to-do entrepreneur has billions or millions sitting in the bank? So you think Adenuga in question has 3 billion dollars lying somewhere?! Nah! You are an illiterate! P.S. It is good you finally accept that Nigeria is a poor country. But man, you reason through your ears for you to believe a billionaire has billions lying somewhere. Were you taught economics or mathematics in secondary school? |

Even if he is mooted as the best in electoral litigation, you have to compare his victories to other prominent lawyers over a decade at least. There are many factors to consider. |

Regex: Baba no mind this people. English we speak and learn in school is quite different from what is spoken here and used in learning. When I came to UK I realised that either the British taught us rubbish or as information over time whether formal or informal lose its form and or to an extent value as it gets handed down from generation to generation. Another I am speculating and I have everything to believe given situation of things surrounding us is that we were taught and we refused to learn. That IELTS is a snippets to how English is used here and honestly I do not want them to write it off. Well, in spoken English, things will be different due to accents. Singaporeans have a different way of speaking. But in written English? Nigerians don't communicate correctly in it. Nigerians are the only ones I have seen use "borrow" instead of "lend". Even an elite like Iyin Aboyeji did it. I was stunned! Nigerians must write IELTS/TOEFL whether they like it or not. SoNature: Nobody knows it all...even Americans make that mistake on social media but they are still considered native English speakers. While English isn't our first language, there are just a few countries in this world that write and speak better English than Nigeria.
Nigeria, in this context, doesn't include the northerners (thank God those ones don't bother leaving the country to further their education). I mean Southern Nigeria, and probably the middle belt. The good thing is that many of their schools are accepting WAEC results now. I have never read Americans or South Africans or Singaporeans or Ghanaians used "borrow" instead of "lend". If an elite Nigerian like Iyin can use "borrow" rather than "lend", then it is finished. None of those nationalities' elites used "borrow" rather than "lend". None of them also argue stoopidly that "English no be my papa language". |

Imagine asking Nigerians to spend over #100k to take IELTS because we want to study in the UK. Meanwhile, those people know that our English language proficiency is topnotch. Many have waived that as well.

whizqueen: You might have been asking yourself if moving to Canada is still worth it and I’m happy to tell you that it is! I recently became a Canadian citizen just in 3 years of moving. Let me tell you all about it.
I left Nigeria in September 2019 to Canada as a Permanent resident all by myself! I was literally just 23 and I remember being filled with so much anxiety and fear for the unknown. Thankfully I’ve been able to navigate life as an immigrant in Canada. I’d say it took about 2 years for me to fully settle in and get a hang of my new life. Things got better with time and I’ve been able to build a strong community around me.
I migrated to Canada as a PR so my pathway to becoming a citizen was much more straightforward. You’re required to reside in Canada as a PR holder for at least 3 years/1,095 days before you become eligible to apply for citizenship. I became eligible in September 2022 and I submitted my application online. I was invited for the citizenship test March 2023 and approved for citizenship ceremony May 2023. My
e For someone who emigrated to Canada in the same year as you (student visa), when is the person likely to become a citizen? My dear friend did the same and she told me COVID delayed the processing to become a PR. I am just curious. |

Dancebreaker: I don't believe the man needed vasectomy. Sure. he has part responsibility but remember the lady already decided before marriage. The lady tried to paint the hubby bad but knowing how hot she was about having many kids, I did not believe her. I even advised her after the second child to take it easy. I didn't know her hubby was saying same thing. She was still insisting on 4 kids minimum. She is not a single child a people who cannot heed a simple advice.
Couples should learn to be flexible and reach a consensus on many aspects in marriage: number of kids, taste, lifestyle, investment, etc. If the man did not want more children, he had the option of doing a vasectomy. What do you have against vasectomy? If I were the one, I would undergo a vasectomy and wait to see where she will get sperm to fertilise her eggs. If she eventually gets pregnant, I will present my vasectomy result and demand a DNA test for further confirmation. If as a man, you get married to a woman who wants plenty of children, it is in your best interest to make decisions to prevent such from happening. Just because a woman wants five children does not mean you as the man must fulfil that wish. This also applies to women who want fewer children. If there is one aspect of my life I would say "it cannot never be me", this issue of procreation is one. It can NEVER be me. Never would such happen. |

Well, the hubby insisted on not having a third child but she did everything to have it. I only found out when the hubby began to avoid coming home until very late at night and marital problems started. She is a single mother now. Are you implying the marriage collapsed because of the husband's refusal to have another child? So which of them is in charge of the children's custody and well-being? There're even financial perks from the gov't when you've kids. That said, I only want one or two kids. Developed countries actually have lower birth rates than developing ones. In fact, South Korea has spent more than $200BN within the past decade to increase her terribly low TFR rate of 0.78, yet it has not worked. Wealth begets fewer children. The more you earn, the less number of children you wish to have. |

EmperorCaesar: And how many non-islamic countries have been able to achieve this in the world? U will want to list Asians(China and japan) cause na your only defense be that European, Amercian and African countries looking up to the USA and copying everything about them would struggle to filter some civilization and would instead just do whatever is flying around over there U think its that easy for a developing country swallowing every western agenda and looking forward to implementing their policies to suddenly start clamping down on the growing feminism/abnormal civilization in their country and hold their ground on chastising women in this age of "Equal right, Mind your own business, Its is my body and This isnt stone age"? To be fair, a major reason we readily accept Western cultural practices with open arms is largely because we don't have a unified culture in Nigeria, and most importantly, we are poor. One thing I have come to realise in life is that humans admire the lives of rich people and aim to be like them in how they behave, not necessarily what brings them money. So, because we are poorer, we tend to copy the lives and cultural norms of the closest rich people we can find. These are Westerners; for colonial, geographical and linguistic reasons. Another reason is religion. Countries that adopt the Western version of Christianity tend to assimilate Western cultures more than those that adopt the Orthodox version. Examples are South Korea and Singapore. They have varying levels of Westernisation in their societies. Unlike us, who copy everything out of low self-esteem and poverty, Koreans and Singaporeans tend to limit the levels they copy certain Western practices because they are also wealthy. Japanese and Chinese don't copy because they did not adopt Christianity and are also wealthy. Mind you, these four groups have varying levels of Confucianism in their cultures. This level of Christianity shows in Nigeria. The way women dress in the south east and south south differ significantly from how they dress in the south west and parts of the north that are Christian-dominated. I bet you, Northern Nigeria's Christian women don't dress in the same manner as girls from Eastern Nigeria (south south and south east) do. This is why when people criticise or deride Nigerian women for certain attitudes, I laugh because there exists a sub-set of women who don't possess or, at least, display such attitudes publicly. Why is this so? Northern Christian women live in a Muslim-dominated environment where they have to behave like Muslims even though they are not. Islam cages women more than Christianity does, Western or Orthodox version. Ultimately, we as men must provide the environment for our women to thrive. That is how it is everywhere. The likelihood of a Yemeni woman engaging in hookup is higher than that of an Emirati woman. There are reports many Northern Christian women are going into hookup because of the excruciating poverty as a result of continuous attacks on their farmlands by Fulani terrorists. In other places, the women can cultivate their crops peacefully because their men have provided security. In Northern Nigeria, Christian men are slaughtered, leaving the women to fend for themselves. With no man available to provide, the woman has to resort to what she naturally has to offer in times of survival. For men, it is crime. For women, it is selling their bodies. A successful society is one where the men worked so hard to build. If the financial success of a household lies on the man, aka father and husband, why should it be different in nation-building? |

Evolutionism: Most Nigerians don't know what it takes to raise QUALITY Children. Honestly, it is expensive to raise children. The problem is that we see it as an investment, which is fair enough considering cultures. But in an increasingly competitive world with permissible cultural practices from other countries due to globalisation, the "investment" these parents are making might not be there for them. Indians, especially those based overseas, don dey send their parents to live in old people's homes. The saving grace for Hong Kong and Singapore is due to small land mass. Many young Nigerians don leave their parents to make a living far away from where they bred. This brings me to the observation of building big houses with large compounds. I don't understand the rationale. We don't consider the costs involved during maintenance. Big house with say three or four children. Two don japa, one dey another African country and the last is doing NYSC elsewhere. How does the house gets maintained in the long term? As it is, OP will continue to pay school fees till 2050. This is aside from other responsibilities of life and personal care. What would be the naira situation by then? Security? Economy? General costs of things? How much would his pension be?
