I'm a single 39yr old Nigeria guy in diaspora trying to settle down and going to Nigeria to marry is not an option.

I'm an introvert who has been through some childhood trauma in my family and really fear marriage because of what I have seen and how bad it can be sometimes.

1. Fertility : I desire children. However, can she have me healthy children @ 39. How many can she have? I discussed us trying for a child , she appears to want a.marriage first. But what gurantees do I have to have children.

Should I be concerned? I dont want to enter one chance.

Please I use God beg you, no insults just advice. Abeg. God bless you.
I understand her desire for marriage and also yours for children. You both have to come out clear and be honest to unaselves on wetin una want. Does she desire children as much as you do? How many children does she desire to have, all things being equal? You sef, how many children you for like get? The age is not really the problem as it is possible to have children, just begin the copulation process immediately. There has been a rise in late marriages due to several factors, not limited to the state of the economy, advancement in education, building a career etc. So, late marriages are becoming the norm, especially for migrants who relocated in their adult years as singles. 4

But I am curious, why is going back to Nigeria for a wife not an option? You could get youngies there, you know. Abi na the Canadian passport you dey eye? grin

The desperation of getting jobs has made some person's accept as low as $8 as salaries per hour. And sometimes when those in Vietnam try to discourage others from coming, they feel is coming from a place of hatred...No...it isn't, Moroccans, Algerians, Egyptians are bin paid higher cos of the skin color factor. You would reject a job cos of the low salary but a fellow black skinned will accept it wholeheartedly cos he needs to survive and obviously there are no jobs. Companies are gradually reducing their pay,if u complain they'll ask you to quit if u aren't okay with it cos there are people readily available to do it.

I never told you I was complaining or lacking sex, I'm just being neutral and unbias about the situation,
Well, sex has never been free. Almost every man pays for sex at a point.

it wasn't like this before.
Poverty. The rise in poverty leads to social breakdown, with women resorting to sex work and men to criminality.

The risein hookup is alarming and many girls are getting so lazy to work.
Blame men who patronise them. No demand, no supply. The men who pay these girls like this thread have preek like you and me. You don't want hookup to continue? Stop paying these ladies, and the industry would crumble.

Imagine getting paid 40k for one night, times it by 30days bro. Na wa
You appear envious, which is fair enough. Many young men, even here on Nairaland, have confessed how they would have gone into hookup if they were females. That said, no sex worker has sex every day for one month straight. Sex work is real work o. It is energy-sapping, mentally draining and can be physically scathing. The body, mind and soul have to recover after a night's work. Also, basic women's biology of menstruation prevents a one-month straight sex work. Mind you, this 40K is not possible daily for the reasons I listed. As a result, business-minded sex workers (sex work is a business) stick to few clients who pay 40K for a night rather than have many clients who pay 20K.

It is better to have three steady clients who pay 40K. If each patronises thrice per month, that is 120K. When she adds it to what she makes from a regular job, that could be almost 200K. Now, if all the clients patronise her twice per month, that is 240K per month. Please note that for this to continue realistically, she has to be in either Lagos, Abuja and maybe, just maybe, Port-harcourt. Benin is another close contender. Outside these places, it is not common to be paid 40K for a night, and it is not reoccurring. The rare cases come from moneybags who visit that state, a sporting/political/business/musical activity which attracts outsiders.

It is men who are actually rich that pay for sex without complaining. Anyone who complains about paid sex, in my opinion, does not have money. If you are physically handsome, you should be getting enough sex and stop lamenting whether women enjoy it or not. My classmate in Lagos gets sex for free (not hookup) every weekend. He is even tired. He does not pay a kobo. In fact, he turns down girls who offer sex for a fee..

I already explained it here; the existence of testosterone makes me demand for sex more than women. That fuels a demand, and since women are the only providers, economics takes over. There is nothing like free sex o. Only handsome men have the chances of getting sex for free, and I am sure you are not handsome, and neither am I.

BRATISLAVA:
Even if he has one child he will still be poor.

Children are not the cause of poverty.
Jesus Christ! shocked shocked

No one is saying children are the cause of poverty. But having plenty of children increases the likelihood of being in poverty. That is a phenomenon from Norway to Namibia and Colombia to Cambodia. The more children a family has, the greater the likelihood of being plunged into multidimensional poverty, especially in the world's poverty capital!

This is a universal fact!
FamilyRe: Is My Family Truly Cursed Or Not? by Gerrard59(m): 4:43am On Jan 24, 2024
Lifeinlight:
having many children in Nigeria is equal to POVERTY
It is a global phenomenon. In almost every country, the majority of poor people have plenty of children. I watched an episode about a poor family in Switzerland, a mother with four children. Switzerland is one of the world's wealthiest places, where the average number of children is 2. In Japan, most middle class families have two children or just a child. The same applies to Singapore and Big Daddy China. Now, we have someone who comes from a family with FIVE CHILDREN, and someone is lying that the number of children has nothing to do with poverty?

Why do people lie so brazenly on the Internet for crying out loud?!!
FamilyRe: Is My Family Truly Cursed Or Not? by Gerrard59(m): 4:39am On Jan 24, 2024
BRATISLAVA:
Not all homeless people have mental health issues. There are a lot of single, childless people living in multidimensional poverty. Having many children doesn't determine anything.

There are also a lot of people with many children who are middle class and above.
LIES! All over the world, there is a straightforward line between having lots of children and an increased likelihood of poverty. It is dishonest of you to peddle the idea that many children don't lead to increased penury.

So dishonest!

BRATISLAVA:
Why do you people like to act as if having many children is the cause of people who have (financial) problems in life?

What about the people with many children who don't have that problem? Having fewer children is not the solution to lifes problems, so please, stop looking down on and bashing such people.

There are homeless people who have never been married and have no children, living rough on the streets. Which "5 children" do you blame for that happening?
That is entirely untrue. In anywhere in the world, everyone has one problem or the other. But the moment children, let alone FIVE CHILDREN, are added to the mix, the problem has metamorphosed into something else. There are homeless people who don't have children or are unmarried. Do you know what will be their fate once they have children?

Most likely everything you’ve heard about this place recently has been a lie. If a Nigerian is offering you visa and promising you work when you arrive it’s a scam. Stop wasting your money and empowering some wicked Nigerians here by paying them $3k+ for a visa that cost less than $50 and then to have to return back to Nigeria 3 months later. Sad truth is that you’ll not even make any money in the 3 months you’re here. There’re no factory jobs. The only job for you here is teaching. Every other thing is a scam. (I don’t care about the proof your agent has provided you)
Everything has casted since the introduction of the 3 months visa. If you like come here on a visit visa you’ll still pack your bag after 3 months and go back. Whoever wants to hear should hear. Also, the teaching job is becoming a scam now. How do you compete with a teacher from the uk or from the USA. They don’t even need much, they can survive on the 3 months visa and keep doing visa runs via bus to neighboring countries. Where can you go as a Nigerian??

If you like come as student, your case is even worse. After paying agent, you go still pay school fees and you won’t even see work. If you like hear. If you like give away your money anyhow.

The person who even made this thread has left the country and japa. This place is NOT friendly to blacks. But then no where really is.
Vietnamese wey full Japan like wetin. shocked One would wonder if they are fleeing the country. Although, the country's economy is growing with factories and all, I would not recommend it to a black African to move to. Asian countries worth relocating as black Africans are: Japan, China, South Korea, and Singapore. Anything aside, better be a successful or fast-growing business person looking for contracts or partnerships and/or have another passport other than the Nigerian one.

The fellow who mentioned Taiwan should know that the authorities there don't fancy Nigerian passport holders because we align with Mainland China.

People fall for deception and refuse to hear the truth. A group of Nigerians were told that the Southern Border was open and a smuggler took their money and gave them instructions on what to do. These guys told border patrol that they were Venezuelan because the smuggler told them that would give them entry. The border patrol agents switched from English to Spanish and handed them forms written and with instructions in Spanish—within a few minutes, their jig was up. They’ll be on a deportation flight with two Nigerians who claimed Cameroonian but could not respond to the interpreter’s questions during their asylum hearings because neither understood French.; D Even if those schemes worked, biometrics would’ve soon caught up with them.
Don’t worry, others will still fall for the shortcuts, give smugglers all their money, and wind up right back where they started from.

On a general note, when people ask for facts in any argument, they usually don't concede even when you present them the facts and most times they already know about the fact you presented. They are just not happy with the piece of information. Most arguments aren't based on lack of knowledge, they are based on disagreement of opinions so they just look for any thing to support their opinion even if they are wrong. I learnt this while debating an Atheist who said the Bible was a myth & I presented some fact about the early Bible manuscripts. The only advantage my roomie had is, from primary school he already knew he would study civil engineering too due to his dad's influence so he strictly followed that part that as a secondary school student he had already read almost all the materials he needed from ND1 Till HND.
As a secondary school student his dad was already homeschooling him, giving him materials, in fact all the materials are surplus at home, from text books to drawing materials, measurement materials etc.

His dad even bought a desktop computer for him and his elder bro's to learn chart drawing and all those civil engineering drawings.
As a sec schooo student he could map and draw better than most HND students graduates.

Dude got admitted to auchi polytechnic and came out with distinction without breaking a sweat, dude normally tells me every class is just like a revision to him.
It is why I called him a retard!

It is a global phenomenon for children whose parents are academics or even primary school teachers to perform excellently in academics. Most Harvard professors had parents who were also professors. Even Nobel laureates, their children later become academics and some even win prizes. See Milton Friedman. There is nothing wrong with it. Even cancelling out nature because of genetics, nurture because of environment confers that advantage to such children.

The retard has been lamenting that David's dad influenced his grades. But ask him if David's dad also influenced the 5.0 grad from Systems Engineering? Did David's father, a professor of Civil Engineering, teach Ayodele Dada, a 5.0 graduate of Psychology? What course did the girl who had 5.0 in Cell Biology learn from David's dad?

See why I said he is a retard?!

By the way OP, you did not mention about his Jamb score. I am interested because there is a debate we once heard about people that score the highest in Jamb are definitely brilliant but there are candidates' more brilliants than them who did not emerge as highest jamb scorer. I have observed with most best graduating students, while their Jamb scores are usually great, they do better overall CGPA than some people that usually have higher Jamb scores than them.
You mean this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/7763389/top-jamb-scorers-where-today ?

David, just like Ayodele Dada, entered Unilag in 200L. With this, they avoided general courses, which could have hurt their grades trajectories. However, two other graduates from Unilag from Systems Engineering and Cell Biology respectively also had the same grade. The question would be to know if these two persons entered via JAMB. Another missing aspect is David's WASSCE grades. It is important to know that as well. Did he have the most As?
