oga rest!!
I don’t see any problem with taking someone out irrespective of the person’s gender…just don’t over do yourself by trying to impress.
The only problem I will have if you are feeling entitled about it….I take friends out.
Even my old female classmates….how do you guys catch up if you don’t go out?
You just invite everyone to your house?

You guys should stop all these abeg.
I read through to the end to see if he answered or responded to your post. Unfortunately, he did not.

You see, these are the men brandishing their smelly preek along the streets in Nigeria chanting alfa meil, alfa meil, alfa meil everywhere they go. Never take them seriously. Also, note that they are very poor. P to the OOR!

Will keep laughing at those brain.d.ead go.ats that think removal of fuel subsidy will change Nigeria in a positive way. Like it or not, the subsidy was the only way everyone was able to benefit from this arrangement we call a country, now that's it's been taken away, they will keep sharing the proceeds amongst themselves, adding nothing to the society and leaving the common man to fight for himself.
To be fair, subsidy had to go. Nigeria cannot afford more subsidies. My issue is that those who implemented it now opposed it when Jonathan did the same thing at the right time (when the economy was doing well).

Its propaganda. A well-known doomsday idiot is Gordon G. Chang. You can call him a sell-out, or a Judas Iscariot.

He became famous for always predicting the impending collapse of China. For close to thirty years, he has been releasing books, topics, commentaries, and interviews, about how China will collapse soon.
To be fair, the Chinese economy has been fluttering recently. High youth unemployment, deflation, high debt especially borne by property developers, a decline in exports etc. That of unemployment made the news as the government stopped releasing data. She said that the methodology had to be revised to know those who are school leavers and those still in school. But trust Western media, it was blown out of proportion.

I see it as a soft landing rather than awaiting a harsher one. In the same way, borders were locked even when others opened for trade during Covid. But that act was surprising to me. Why close your borders even when your peers have opened theirs?

To diasporans, the best way to make your money, considering you are investing dollars or pounds, is into sectors or businesses which are export-oriented. In this way, your revenues are generated in dollars. To me, the real estate business most people plough their money generates losses because never has there been a time when the naira appreciated against the dollar. Investing in real estate should be for those who generate their earnings in naira. Alternatively, it only makes sense if you intend relocating to Nigeria to settle for life.

buainess in an unstable economy? Do you know that other currencies are more valued in nigeria than the naira?
That is normal. I don't understand the desire for a strong naira most Nigerians have. A strong naira is only feasible with a small population. But as it is, we don't need a strong naira. That will skew investments negatively and increase unemployment because there would be no need/usefulness for foreign investors to set up factories in Nigeria and export. Factories are what Nigeria need.

The USD is stronger than most currencies in their home countries. So?

Do you know that nigeria is so dollarized that happenings outside the country affects it more than what happens inside?
How is Nigeria so dollarized when the legal tender is naira? Nigeria is not Ecuador or Namibia, where the Rand is also a legal tender.

Let me give you example. In uk, you can never bring any currency other than the pounds, if you do you would pay heavy price for it.
That is the UK's personal problem. Also, it is apples to oranges as the UK is a global economy, and the Pound is acceptable globally.

I thi k the govt did something like that but the black market in nigeria killed everything.
Largely because we don't export as much as we import. Also because the exchange rate has not been completely liberalised. The more restrictions on the exchange rate, the greater the need for black marketers. Additionally, the naira to dollar exchanged is affected by interest rates in the US. The Japanese Yen and South Korean Won have devalued within the past year due to the fluctuating interest rate in the US.

To show an example of how a weak currency aids export, check Japan. GDP grew more than 5% because there was an increase in exports and high inward tourist activities. The weak yen makes Japanese goods to be cheaper in the global market, thus, ensuring Japanese companies sell their products and repatriate their earnings back to the country.

Nigeria does not need a strong naira. It does more harm than good.

Do you know if i send money to nigeria you only receive dollars then the bank will now buy the dollars from you and give you naira. Is this not stupidity? Is this not killing the naira? How can you do business in such a climate
That depends on the medium you sent it. People send money, and their receivers obtain it in USD and go to Aboki for a better value. This is why the exchange rate has to be liberalised to make black marketers unattractive.

To be fair, one can make money in Nigeria. After all, amidst the economic crises, there are thriving businesses in the country. So, it is not all doom.

Wodu89 mentioned garri processing, which is fine. With additional capital and expertise, that can be replaced with a cassava flour factory, which has an enormous demand considering the price of wheat has soared since the war in Ukraine. With further capital and skilled expertise, it can be upgraded or replaced with an ethanol factory which uses cassava as raw material. Some of the issues we have with entrepreneurship are long-term capital and stability/ security.

All in above paragraph has happened to my parents, my uncle and my grandma. I remember when I sent money home as a corper because one foolish Akeredolu delayed salary.

Nato Secretary General Jen Stoltenberg has suggested that Ukraine might have to cede land to Russia, to broker peace and become a Nato member state.

Seems like the West is beginning to accept defeat.

Russia does not only need lands, it also wants Ukraine out of Nato. So even if Ukraine accepted that Russia can keep Crimea and the four regions it annexed, will Russia agree to such a condition for peace?

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2023/08/15/ukraine-hits-out-at-ceding-putin-land-nato/
I read the article and the Ukrainian official on Twitter rebuked it. To be fair, if some parts of occupied Ukraine are ceded to Russia, it emboldens Putin more. The comments in the article are even more daring - "Putin must be crushed", "He must pay for his sins", "Doing this empowers China to takeover Taiwan and ignite WW3" and the most hilarious "We should cut off aid to those countries (Middle Easter and African) who are allies to Putin".

Those are not tangible reasons. I believe that children can be properly raised by one parent provided that resources are there.
Also, most men don't find ideal companionship in women! Any honest married man would tell you that he doesn't even have time to start doing companionship with his wife when he's busy working his butt off to pay bills.

Men get the best companionships in beer parlours with fellow men or in different social clubs or fraternities to which they belong.
Well, judging from studies conducted globally by different researchers, that is not true. The best environment to raise children is in a two-parent household consisting of a father (man) and a mother (woman). If you believe otherwise, conduct your scientific/social science study and publish the results in a peer-reviewed journal.

P.S. In most developed societies where government interventions and subsidies exist, most poor people are those from single-parent homes. Then imagine the same in poor countries? Multidimensional poverty loading.... shocked shocked

Go to Chile. Use one year to learn Spanish, apply and enrol into the easiest course you can handle. Five years you collect citizenship. But this depends on why you want to emigrate. To me, anyone above 40 should remain in Nigeria and plan his retirement. Those above 35 but below 40 should emigrate only on a work visa into a structured company.

Nonsense and marriage!!!

Until the day anybody would give me one tangible benefit of marriage to a man, I'll continue to see that institution as a scam against the menfolk.

Many men getting married these days are doing that just to meet societal expectations. Nothing more!
Having children within a two-parent household is the major benefit. Another benefit could be or is companionship.

P.S. Raising children within a two-parent household is the best environment for having properly raised children as adjudged by studies globally.

No. Just a stamp on your passport indicating a tourist pass. But note, it cannot be converted to a working visa while in Japan. Working or student visa requires the COE, which is exchanged for the residence card - an essential document with regard to life in Japan. Also, note that should the applicant be denied the visa, s/he cannot apply for any kind of visa to Japan for the next six months.

Also, take a clue from the response of the global south alignment with Russia after the invasion of Ukraine. That event singlehandedly awakened the desire for a multipolar world, and renewed the deep-seated anger bordering revenge in reserve for the West.

So the Idea that will pump money into Africa is not worthy of being called a dream, it will never happen. The West will not make Africa strong when they knew what they have done to Africans.

It's like sponsoring a person you raped to be a lawyer, giving them the power to deal with you later. It is not a matter of whether we will revenge, but a matter of ´´we can't if we want to´´. The discussion here is about survival and power, not doing what is right.

Anyways back to what I am saying, the US will only accept a defeated China, not make other regions strong that would challenge it again, maybe team up with China and Russia, then become a bigger problem for them.

The reason why they have military bases everywhere is to prevent the rise of challenging power.

Take a clue from the bases in Kosovo after the destruction of Yugoslavia, in Germany after the destruction of the Nazi regime, or in Japan after the destruction of imperial Japan. Those bases seem silent now, but their real color will be exposed when any civilization begins to grow from such regions.

Or integrating ex-soviets countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, and defacto for Georgia and Ukraine.

They had a base in Taiwan before China became a UN country, and the first thing the Chinese did was tell the Americans to pack their bases out. The junta in Niger is doing the same thing, but the Americans don't want to leave.

These leaders know what the US stands for, not the nonsense Western sellouts are trying to preach. The US will only accept a world with no challenging power, so they will NEVER invest in other regions, because it may come to bite them later, like China.
To be fair, they are shifting investments to India, Vietnam and other parts of South East Asia. They might not offer IP as was done with China, but they are indeed investing in those places. India is playing the same game as China by requesting IP know-how and investment while at the same time staying neutral. Remember that Modi was banned from entering the US, but the ban got overturned when he got elected. Today, every Western leader is engaging in a bromance with him as a counterweight to China. What pisses me off is when they expect Africans to align with them YET don't consider Africans in the buffet they are offering others. It says something about how they see black people.

As I stated here a few years ago, my hunch for their apathy or antipathy towards black Africa is the fear that should black Africa be prosperous, we will team up with African Americans to invest in other parts of the black world to become wealthy as well with the aim to settle 500-year old grievances.

That said: Imran Khan was removed because he refused to align to condemn Russia: https://theintercept.com/2023/08/09/imran-khan-pakistan-cypher-ukraine-russia/

Some of it is due to trust in the US' financial system. The rest is by bullying. The US bullies everyone, including her allies. The US bullied rising Japan into signing the Plaza Accord, which decimated the economy in Japan, resulting in the "Lost Decades". The same Japan America literally babied after bombing her cities and had military bases in Okinawa and Tokyo. Now, they are doing the same with China through a series of sanctions and building military bases around China. In contrast, China has not built one, even in Mexico or Cuba.

First, China has surpassed the US in citations, some of which emanate from relatively unknown universities in China. Westerners say it is copying, but looking it at deeply, the Chinese are innovative. Solar, wind and EVs are examples of how they are innovative driven.

mbed or sanctioned.
As I wrote, the Chinese have published papers in reputable journals more than the US. This is by a Western rating agency based in London. The comments in the WSJ article exhibited envy, racism and anger towards the Chinese. Westerners are literally livid the Chinese don't bend to their whims. One of the comments stated that American universities should shift towards India and South East Asia for collaboration and students. None of them mentioned Africa. I am very honest here, when these commentators state the West should shift away from China whether in terms of collaboration to trade, they never mention Africa. In terms of visa issuance to African students, one's chances are higher with the Chinese embassy than the US even for fully funded students. That shows how they view us -unwanted elements. Which is why I am baffled when Africans deride the Chinese. The Chinese made smartphones very affordable for ordinary Africans, which made it possible for millions of Africans to access the Internet. I recall then Apple and Samsung phones were out-of-reach for most Africans, and even now, but with Techno and Itel, many Africans could access the web because the devices were cheap.

Africa, and I dare say blacks, have a friend in China, not the West. There is more than a 500-year history to explain our relationship with the West.
