Godless place! With churches on every corner? You obviously hve never left Nigeria, otherwise you would have known that "Godlyness" does not feature in the developed World. Nigeria is not backward because we are "wicked", no; we are backward because our leaders (including your pastors) keep the people down with only crumbs to squabble for. They have replaced the colonial master and slave driver.
churches in every corner do not equal Godliness.  yes nigerians go to church but about 99% still have no qualms doing 419, belonging to the occult and every other wicked things you can name.

if you call Gods name you are to depart from iniquities not be an active doer of evil and aborminations.
we had more sanity in nigeria before now so something is wrong.

Christianity EtcChristians To Pray As White House Observes Ramadan by GEW(op): 12:54am On Sep 02, 2009
Christians to Pray as White House Observes Ramadan
Tuesday, 01 September 2009 04:48 PM EDT Adrienne S. Gaines News - Featured News

As President Obama marks the month of Ramadan with a special dinner tonight at the White House, Christians nationwide will be praying for Muslims in the U.S. and abroad.

Saying the need to pray for the nation is critical, the Presidential Prayer Team will host a live, interactive prayer service at the group's Web site that coincides with the 8 p.m. dinner in the State Dining Room.

"As a ministry that prays to the Lord Jesus Christ on behalf of America's president, our nation's leadership and our troops on a daily basis, we have asked our constituency to specifically pray for the president during this time," said Presidential Prayer Team President Scott Fehrenbacher.

During Ramadan, which began Aug. 22, Muslims fast during the day and pray at night, commemorating the month during which Muslims believe Mohammed divinely received the Quran.

Although the practice of marking Ramadan with a White House dinner began during President George W. Bush's administration, some Christians have been critical of Obama's White House observance because he did not host an official event marking the National Day of Prayer last May. He instead issued a presidential proclamation and said he planned to pray privately.

“Since assuming office in January, President Obama has not only regularly passed up opportunities to affirm and celebrate America’s Judeo Christian heritage, but at times, he’s appeared to go out of his way to suggest the opposite is true,” said Shirley Dobson, chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force.

“In light of these recent events, the president’s decision to carry on the tradition of hosting a White House dinner to celebrate the Muslim holy season of Ramadan is curious. Our disappointment, however, is not with the President’s decision to host such a celebration. Quite the contrary. It’s simply unfortunate that he didn’t choose to extend the same level of courtesy and recognition this past May to the millions of supporters and organizers of the National Day of Prayer.”

The Rev. Johnny Hunter, an African-American pro-life leader who was arrested on the National Day of Prayer while praying outside the White House, said that by hosting the Ramadan observance President Obama “is distinctly placing Islam above Christianity.”
"He's stated before the entire world that we're not a Christian nation," added the founder of L.E.A.R.N. Inc. "By him turning his back on Christians on a day when we're to pray to God, then turn around and make such a flamboyant move toward Islam, it tells me that it's not America that's not Christian, it's the president that's not Christian."

Pastor Brian McLaren believes it's possible to be both Christian and pray with Muslims during Ramadan. This year, the popular author of A Different Kind of Christian and leader in the emergent church movement is participating in the fast with some of his Christian friends.

"We are not doing so in order to become Muslims: we are deeply committed Christians," he wrote in a blog posting last month. "But as Christians, we want to come close to our Muslim neighbors and to share this important part of life with them. Just as Jesus, a devout Jew, overcame religious prejudice and learned from a Syrophonecian woman and was inspired by her faith two thousand years ago (Matthew 15:21 ff, Mark 7:24 ff), we seek to learn from our Muslim sisters and brothers today."

Other Christians have been marking Ramadan with a 30-day prayer focus for the Muslim world. Millions of Christians are believed to support the 30-Days Muslim Prayer Focus, which Youth With a Mission launched in 1993.

In addition to daily prayer points, a special prayer booklet includes articles to educate Christians about Islam and mobilize believers to reach out to Muslim people groups. The prayer campaign can also be followed online.

It's "expanding our ability to love," said Paul Filidis, North American coordinator of the 30-Days Muslim Prayer Focus. "As you pray for people, you get God's perspective, God's heart, and it's hard not to have a certain love for them that transcends the headlines."

International evangelist Sammy Tippit believes praying for Muslims could help bring a revival in the Islamic world. He said he's heard numerous testimonies of Muslims, particularly in Iran, who have come to Christ after having dreams and visions of Jesus.

"I believe that during this time where there's prayer, religious rituals, fasting that's taking place, there's some kind of seeking in their hearts," he said. "And if we will pray, I believe God will come and reveal Himself to them in a mighty way. I believe we can actually through our prayers see many, many people come to Christ in the Islamic world."

He says that though there is an extremist element of Islam that opposes Christianity, most Muslims are just people with the same needs as anyone else.

"There is an aggressive element of Islam that is very strongly trying to destroy the church," he said. "But I find in the New Testament [that] the church's response was to love, proclaim the gospel and stand firm rather than to become angry with [those who opposed] them."
"It doesn't matter to me what happens in the White House," he added. "What matters to me is what happens in the church house. And if the church will get down and begin to pray and seek the face of God, God will move in the midst of this in a mighty way, and I think we could see a great revival in the Islamic world."

Pastor, Wife Dedicate First Child ---After 22 yrs Of Marriage
By AUDY EGBON
By CLIFFORD AGBAJOR

BENIN CITY – It was a celebration of breakthrough, patience and abiding faith in God at the weekend when the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of the House of Christ Church, Benin City, Pastor Joseph Eribo and his wife, Mercy dedicated to God the first child of their 22 years old marriage, Baby Eloghosa.

The venue of the event was the Imaguero College Hall, Sapele Road, Benin City at a special dedication and testimony service organised in their honour by the church.

Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu with his wife, Deaconess Endurance said the birth of Baby Eloghosa “is a clear message to all married couples not to cast away their confidence in God as he will surely grant them their heart’s desires”.

According to him, the couple remained steadfast and united, despite the many trying moments they must have had while hoping for the blessing from God, should serve as a lesson for everyone to learn from.

While congratulating the couple over the blessing, the Deputy Governor expressed optimism that more babies would be born into the family.

In his testimony before the congregation, Pastor Eribo said he was unwavering in his faith in God.

The birth of Baby Eloghosa (female), he said, was a fulfilment, within a year of God’s promise at different times to himself and his wife to bless them with children through normal and natural process.

Pastor (Mrs.) Eribo, on her part, disclosed that due to the delay in seeing to the fulfilment of God’s blessings, she had at various times had the intention of seeing to the end of their marriage.

While appreciating God for his love, she also commended her husband’s abiding faith in God: She thanked the family members and religious ministers who identified with them while they waited for the fulfilment of God’s promise.

The marriage of Pastor Joseph Eribo and his wife, Mercy was solemnized in 1987 by the presiding Archbishop of Church of God Mission, Archbishop Benson Idahosa of blessed memory.

~Bear in mind for as long as you hold this resentment towards her for the decision you were supposedly foced to make. . you will not be happy!! For a minute, try to acknowledge how she muct be feeling knowing she's married to a man who doesnt love her!! Not a good feeling at all!! Try to make an effort. . little things make great impact. . . appreciate her. . .have you ever complimented her? acknowledge things she does for you? See her as a human being & not the source of your unhappiness!!

~If you know there's no way you can bring yourself to Love her, then I say grow some balls & face your parents w/ a decision to let her go. . Karma's a Bitch!!

Tanna:
I am a portly woman (a big.thick woman). Whatever you want to call it (BBW).

My husband has always been attracted to me and thinks I am sexy, BUT, he is very opposite of me. he is very muscular and in-shape like an athlete. A very strong looking man.

The problem is- now that I am going to  Nigeria for the first time he is pressuring me to lose weight- and is becoming angry with me for my lack of progress. he says we should both look healthy. Well- i am healthy- I'm just overweight.

His mom and dad already know i am big- they have visited here last year and saw me-- but now that we are going to Naija and will meet his brothers and sisters for the first time, Suddenly, my weight is of concern to him.

I don't think this is fair to me, he is now acting embarassed and impatient of my size- now that we are going to Naija.

If I eat anything (even breakfast) he gets angry and says "Aren't you trying to lose weight?"
EVERYDAY- he wants to know what exercise I have done, and gives me the silent treatment if i report that I had not exercised that day.

Our 4 children have their visas to go to Nigeria, but mysteriously, mine has not arrive yet.
Now I am thinking he is withholding my visa based on whether or not  lose weight.

This is supposed to be a fun trip to finally see his homeland, but now it just seems like stress and pressure to put on a beauty show for him.

Any advice for how to deal with this--- and how important is MY size in Yoruba culture.
arant non sense. you mean you have 4 kids for him and he is still worried about your weight. if he got your kids visas and yours is not out he probably dont want you going to naija.  when was the last time he went to naija himself?

there are many obese women in naija and yorubas have their fare share so it is not like you will be the only BBW woman in your plane let alone his village because until recently the only gym we saw in naija was via TV and magazines.

there is more to this than your weight that is if you have weight problem at all.

if it is not too much for you tell him you dont want to go and watch him from there.

Daughter kills mother
By Patience Ogbo

"I am the murderer, I am not the suspect, I will tell you the truth, I killed my mum because she is a witch," said 26-year-old Olubukola Adefisayo, who is in police custody for allegedly killing her 62 year-old mother, Adedoyin Adeife.

The suspect was arrested by the Aguda Divisional Headquarters Area C Surulere on August 21, after report reached the police that she had killed her mother at their Number 2/4 Bola Bumi crescent, Aguda, Surulere.

The suspect is a graduate of Accountancy from the Oklahoma University in the United States of America. She confessed to being a cocaine addict from the age of 9 and was sexually abused by her uncle at the age of 3.

"I have two children age 3 and 2, but I gave them up for adoption. When I came to Nigeria, I started working for my mum as an estate agent. But she will not pay me well. I got angry because she is very rich. I see her writing cheques in million to her sister, but anytime I asked her for money she will not give me.

"I am sane and I am the murderer, I killed my mum after I discovered that she is a witch and had been sleeping with our 12 year old house help, Segun," Miss Adefisayo said.

She said she was jailed in the US for attempted murder. "I was living in the US and one of my neighbours had an issue with me over the laundry machine. After that issue, I went to jail and I decided to come back to Nigeria."

Miss Adefisayo indicted her mother for her drug addiction. "cMy mum introduced me to cocaine at the age of 9 and since then I have been an addict. After taking my cracked coaalso given himine one day, I had a flash back on how my uncle raped me when I was 3 years old. I began to cry and I asked our house help, Segun, if anybody had touched him in a way he does not like. Segun told me that my mum did and my mum had cocaine.

"I said why should mum have sex with Segun and it got me mad, we used to be poor and suddenly, we became rich because my mum used Bunmi, my sister for money rituals."

The suspect said she used a sledged hammer to kill her mother. "Segun told me that my mum also initiated him into witchcraft. I got really angry. I used white clothes to cover the entire mirror in our house; I lit seven candles and waited for 9.45pm which is spiritual time. When my mum came in that night, I asked her if she was a witch, but she was reluctant. I threatened to kill her with the hammer and then she said yes she is a witch and she killed my sister.

"My mum tried to collect the hammer from me and we started fighting. I overpowered her and hit her with the hammer on the head, she just slumped and died," she said.

When the suspect saw that her mother had died, she said she told the house help to pour acid on the body.

Police spokesperson, Frank Mba confirmed the incident.

Mr. Mba said: "After committing the crime on August 19, the suspect took the house help and they went to lodge in a hotel. She put a call to her sister in the US telling her that she had killed their mother.

"The case was reported to the police two days later and they went to their house and saw the lifeless body of the victim.

"From her confession, it is a combination of many factors. She need a psychiatrist and we need to decide if she committed the crime in her lucid period or as a result of the drugs she has been taking.

"Meanwhile, the case is been handled by the homicide department in Panti."

Oshiomhole presents three jeeps to Ogbemudia

01.09.2009

EDO State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, on Monday, presented two jeeps and one utility vehicle to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governor of the defunct Bendel State, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia.

Governor Oshiomhole, who presented the vehicles to Dr. Ogbemudia at the former governor’s residence in Benin City, the Edo state capital, extolled Ogbemudia for the way and manner he handled the issue when he was asked to return the vehicles given to him by Senator Oserheimen Osunbor.

Oshiomhole also lauded Ogbemudia’s developmental efforts in the state when he was the governor.

“In the part of the state that I come from, the only roads that lead to various communities are the ones that are fondly referred to as Ogbemidia road. You demonstrated that what a leader needs is a clear vision and a total commitment to public good and the legacies are still there. Several years later, myself, I become governor, you have already set example,” Oshiomhole added.

The govenor said he had always appreciated the good work done by Ogbemudia during his first tenure as military administrator of the defunct Midwest Region and that was why he always had personal respects for him even when they found themselves in different political parties.

there are facts, truth and lies. truth matters very much to me. for you to understand my point very clearly becos i know it is your custom as nigerian to reduce everything to tribal sentiments  the name in question Oisediamen Edoror is not a bini name but esan/ishan name.  you may have to shout and repeat lies 1000 times that doesnt make lies become truth.  you may as well start believing Jeniffer or sylvester is a yoruba name.
there are names that will never appear in the vocabs or make sense in some language. these 2 names do not in bini language so cannot be bini.  that is not to say they are not from edo state because you cannot point to where i said that. i have cousins who bear the surname so i know what i am talking about.

BusinessRe: Sanusi Canvasses Islamic Banking by GEW: 2:09pm On Sep 01, 2009
FACE:
The part in bold is very misleading Jarus. Of course, Islamic banking system must be profitable and must have its benefits for it to have the success attributed to it. However, you can bring those benefits to the fore without latching onto publicity stunt (business strategy/deceit) by the bank you mentioned designed to maximise their income.

Islamic banking forbids quite a lot of stuff practiced by western banking, so do you not see the irony in Islamic units of western banks? If for instance HSBC group declare a profit and dividend for the year, will they exclude the profit made through their Islamic banking unit ? Will the profit made therefrom be forbidden from further investments by the group as they deem fit ? Will they refuse to pay dividends to shareholders on the  profit made by a business they funded through their shares?

The answer to those questions will expose the business deceit/hypocrisy or sincerity of those institutions. It is like buying petrol from Texaco and Shell into the same tank; at what point in your journey do you determine which petrol is responsible for keeping your car in motion ?

Just like you, I believe that the introduction of Islamic bank will not be a prelude to Islamising the country, however, public funds should not be used to establish such bank regardless of the (academic) benefits.

Misleading again. The banks are merely seeking to extend their business reach, which is what capitalists do. They capitalise on things and do not discriminate the source of money, as far as is permissible in existing laws. Approve the use of cocaine today and see how many of them will rush to finance cocaine factories. If they were planning to leave one in favour of the other, then you would have a solid point, but they are just expanding their territories.

If western banking was that bad, you will not see hard core Arab (Muslim) billionaires investing billions into western banks.

I believe that both systems can exist side by side or as a fussion, as chosen by the owners (not CBN).

The way forward is to educate skeptical Nigerians (and rightly skeptical too) on the benefits of Islamic banking, let private investors put their stake down in the market and let Mr A, B and C decide what's good for their finances.
you are right. you told the truth.
Kobojunkie:
Regardless of individual opinion in this, I do wonder, is it the place of the CBN governor to speak of introducing or suggesting such a system?
at least he came out with what he has been asked to deliver.

Bruvs, go ahead and chase the white meat, no hate from me. But just make sure you stay faithful once she starts begging you for the botox treatments, and other things to get rid of the crows feet. lipsrsealed

CrimeIs This Nigeria Today? Where Are His Family? by GEW(op): 10:52pm On Aug 30, 2009
IN this cold weather with showers
most times as accompaniment, it is
unthinkable that a 75-year-old man,
sane, could be abandoned by who
knows on the runway along Old Ife
Road, Ibadan - a place that has now turned his permanent abode. At the
same spot, he defecates and passes
urine through a fitted tube which
suggests that Pa Charles Abua as he
called himself was perhaps pushed
out of hospital. His claim of Abia as
his state of origin places a task on the
indigenes of the state in particular
and all Nigerians in general. He must
not be left to die. By Taiwo Olaluyi

My sister, I have to advise you as a married man of almost 15 years standing.  Although you did not mention the reason for your quarrel that night, I still will suggest that firstly you try and get in touch with your husband.  The Bible says that "a wise woman builds her house with her own hands, while the foolish one tears it down with her hands."  Secondly, apologise to him for your using stick on him.  Realise that it is very 'unafrican' for a wife to flog her husband (never mind that he beats you up).  Thirdly, you guys have to sit down together and talk things over.  DON'T EVER CALL THE COPS EXCEPT YOU WANT TO FINALLY DESTROY YOUR MARRIAGE.   Fourthly, try to talk less.  It is not all your husband says that requires your response.  I guess I was like your husband in the early stage of my marriage.  But when my wife realised that too much talk makes me react in very unpredictable manner, she stopped it.  I will personally join you in prayers.  It is well.  You can mail me on mikel3509@aol.co.uk for further discussion.  God bless you.
unpreditable manner indeed. oga, that scripture you quoted should not be a toool for abuse. did you see the one saying a husband should love his wife as himself?

when was the last time you were unpredictable to yourself? i hate the kind of understanding that turns scriptures upside down.

Fhemmmy:
God bless you with that wonderful advice and bless your home more.
the broda femi love unpreditable people too. so u believe when u get beaten you should be the one appoligising? the devil is a documented liar.

At least he's sleeping with his ex and not some new girl he just met in the club!! Look on the bright side, he married you, not her. So your place's not threathened. The fact that you knew about it and still went ahead to marry him means you condole it to an extent. So stop b**ching!!
Ujujoan:
Yes na, before nko? cheesy
you are so funny and cruel. i am beginning to understand you. hope u are not AJ in disguise not that i expect u to out yourself so openly.
