LarrySun: ***
"I saw Rikat again last night," Aishat told Doctor Hassan again.
"Oh come on, Aishat! Are the drugs I've been giving not working?"
"I'm telling you! I saw her."
"Ghosts don't exist. They've never been! All you've been seeing are simply illusions. They're not real."
"You see them only when you don't know they are dead," Aishat murmured.
"What did you say?"
"Oh, never mind. I just remember what a woman told me in the market."
"I think you need to return to your room."
Aishat looked sad. "I just want to be believed. I want someone to know that it's not hallucinations. Ghosts really exist."
"I can't believe what's not real."
"I want you to follow me to my room," she said, "If you still don't believe me, I'll agree that I've been hallucinating."
"What's in your room?"
"Just follow me. It'll only take a few seconds."
Aishat led the way. The doctor followed reluctantly. "This better be worth my time."
They walked through the corridor. When they arrived at the door of her room, Aishat asked the doctor to open the door.
"What's behind the door?"
"Just open, Doctor. You'll find out."
Doctor Hassan slowly turned the knob and pushed the door in. He shrank back in horror at what he saw.
Aishat smiled and said, "Do you believe me now?"
"This is impossible!" He was slowly backing away from the room, and also away from Aishat.
He wanted to look away, but he could not. He was staring into the room. Aishat was sitting in a chair in the middle of the room, her head was rested on the table. There was blood oozing from her temple where she had shot herself. The gun was lying on the floor and her dead eyes stared at the entrance.
"You - you are a ghost!" Doctor Hassan said in shaky voice.
"Yes, I am, Doctor. Unfortunately, I had to kill myself to make you believe."
"You're a ghost, Aishat! You killed yourself!"
He collapsed to the ground.
"I told you ghosts exist but you didn't believe me. Now that I have convinced you, I need to go and visit my family for the last time, before they hear the news about my death."
"Your family?" Hassan asked, his face registered further surprise.
"Yes, my parents and my two kids. I told you about my husband. I told you he died."
"But your parents are dead, Aishat. They've been dead for long. And you are not married. You have no husband, no kids."
"What are you talking about?"
"You've been in this hospital for two years. We've been taking care of you."
"You're saying nonsense, Doctor. I only came here a couple of weeks ago."
"No, that's the drugs. The drugs made you think you walked in here on your own, but you didn't. You've been here for years. The drugs reshaped your mind, Aishat. You were the first test subject for the drugs. Apparently, they've been putting various ideas in your head."
"I don't believe you! That's a lie!"
"You killed yourself, Aishat! You killed yourself!"
Then suddenly, the main door of the hospital burst open and Aishat saw her mother and father rush in, they were each carrying her kids.
"Mama! Papa!" Aishat called.
Her father walked towards her. "We've been searching around for you for days, Aishat. What are you doing here?"
"He told me you're dead."
Her father frowned. "Dead? Who has been telling you that nonsense?"
"Him, Doctor Hassan," she pointed at the man lying on the floor.
Her father's eyes followed her gaze. "I'm not seeing anyone there."
"There he is - he lying down there!" Aishat pointed again.
"There's no one there, my daughter," Aishat's mother said.
Aishat was confused.
"Who are you talking to, Aishat?" Doctor Hassan asked.
"My parents," she replied him.
"Where are they?"
"They're standing here! Can't you see them?"
The doctor sat erect. "Aishat, there's no one there."
"Here they are! My mom and dad! They're carrying my kids!"
"I told you. Your parents are dead. You never had any kid. You were never married."
"Aishat, who are you talking to?" her father asked.
"The doctor! Doctor Hassan! There he is!" She was weeping now. "Can't you see him?"
"There's no one here. There's no one in this hospital, Aishat! This building is deserted. It has been deserted for three years. Something happened in this hospital three years ago. Someone with a strange virus was brought in. Her virus killed everyone in the hospital. All the doctors, nurses and patients died. This building is haunted, it's haunted by their ghosts."
"That's impossible!"
"It's the truth, my daughter. We have to get out of here now. This place is evil."
"I thought you don't believe in ghosts," Aishat said.
"That's the rumour. If there are really ghosts here, then you must be seeing them. Only you see ghosts."
Aishat turned to the doctor. "You're a ghost, aren't you?"
"Me? Ghost? Who is telling you that? Aishat, don't believe whatever they're telling you! They're the ghosts, your parents. If they're not ghosts, they're not supposed to see you. You're now a ghost, remember? You killed yourself. They are dead, that's why they could see you. They've been dead for long. It's the drugs messing with your head."
She was very confused. She didn't know who to believe.
"Papa, mama! I'm a ghost."
Her parents stared at each other. "Ghost? How come? Is it the doctor that told you that? Don't believe him! He's lying to you! You're not a ghost! You're a living human being!"
"Look at the room," she said.
Her parents peeked into the room.
"What are we supposed to see?" her father asked.
"Are you not seeing who is in the room?"
"There's no one in the room, Aishat," her mother said.
"My daughter, we have to leave now," said her father, "Your husband is waiting."
Aishat frowned. "My husband?"
"Yes, he's waiting for you at home."
"Abdul is alive?"
"He's alive and well," said her mother.
Aishat shook her head. "That's not true. Abdul died in a car accident two years ago."
"Of course not! You were both together living happily until you suddenly left home. You left him and your kids. We'd been searching for you for over two weeks. Oh! Look at how thin you are!" Her mother started weeping. To Aishat, she sounded like the weeping Rikat.
"Whatever they may be telling you is a lie," said Doctor Hassan. "Do not listen to them. You have no parents. No family."
Aishat walked towards the doctor and bent before him. "You may be right. I don't know who to believe anymore. Maybe it's really the drugs messing with my head. Maybe not. I find it hard to believe you just like I'm finding it hard to believe them too. But most importantly, I can't believe myself anymore. To them, I'm a living person. To you, I'm a ghost. To me, I don't know who I am anymore. I remember shooting myself in the head. You can see my corpse. I can see my corpse, but they can't. Maybe they're really not ghosts, but then again, they say Abdul is alive. I know for a fact that my husband is dead. Maybe they're really ghosts. They can't see you, and you can't see them either. They tell me you're dead, you tell me they're dead. A ghost I met in the market sometimes ago told me that living people could only see ghosts if they don't know they are dead. If they do, the living will never see the dead. They know you're dead, that's why they can't see you. You know they're dead, that's why you can't see them. Maybe I never met any ghost at the market. Maybe it's all the drugs. Maybe both of you are ghosts, maybe that's why you can both communicate with me. Maybe Rikat didn't shoot herself. Maybe she really brought a virus into this hospital. Maybe all the nurses, doctors and patients of this hospital are ghosts. There are a lot of maybes. I wish this was just a bad dream. I wish to wake up right now from this nightmare. Unfortunately, it's not a dream. It's my reality. Am I a ghost or not? I can't even tell.
"I must pick a side. I choose to pick my family. Even in death, family is everything. If it's the drug messing with my mind, at least I won't be taking them again. Eventually, their effects will wear off and I'd know the truth. For now, I go with my family."
She stood up and said,"Goodbye, Doctor Hassan."
The doctor watched her as she stepped out of the door. She was walking out alone.
The End

nnamdiosu: Does the door to the house have a key? Does the gate have a key Can you lock the door or gate and keep the key in your room or pockets Can you enforce a rule that everyone be in the house at a particular time, e.g 10pm as deadline? Can you enter your son's room any night and tell anyone you see there, oya come out and leave the house? Can you call police to come and arrest someone as an intruder in the house?
I think the above questions will answer any question you have to deal with the solution.

Leave ur son alone.. he's old enough unless u want to ban him from bringing her into the house and am sure it wont go down well. U shd even be happy he's not bringing home different girls. Parent shd Learn to stop enforcing their ideals on kids. Note that u cant choose a wife for him.. And from this post.. it means even if u your kids want to be serious with any lady.. you need to do some vetting. Your kids has lived abroad n has realized so many things we frown upon in Nigeria is nothing over there.. Plz leave him be. And learn to tolerate his gf. If he loves her. There's nothing u can do...and this is not jazz. Your son is a liberal man. Just let him get a job n watch how he would leave the house so quickly. Am sure ur actions will make him do that as soon as he gets a job |

Therock5555: ~~~THIRTY~FIVE~~~ The next day we had a visitor. Collins younger brother. The boy just choose on his own to come for vacation. I know say Sapa don blow am for school cause him tell me say him don dey call Collins since for money, the guy dey say shi-shi him no get. And na the same person wey been dey gather money to go comot belly for Becky before she miscarriaged.
Firstly Collins bro wasn't pleased when he walked into my room and noticed that it was no longer his. Collins had told me when I first moved in that his brothers were now staying with an Uncle. Some of his brother's stuffs were still in the room.
By inheritance, the house belonged to the three brothers, so technically, if Collins has a room, his immediate younger brother should have the other. So he was staying with Collins before he left for school, only their kid brother stayed with an Uncle.
But the lil bro had respect for me, I was his Sunday school teacher, I graduated him into Teenage class, so na uncle him dey call me, he was technically my boy so he couldn't say shit.
But then I reason the situation and came to a compromise, whenever he's back from vacation or weekends, we could share the room. I urged him to feel free to use the room as he like, make him no dey uncomfortable.
Collins was conspicuously missing all morning. I later figured out that he fled because he thought his brother and I would get into a fracas wey fit evolve their uncles, so he ran to Becky's house and was there all day.
I know say him dey avoid billing, for him mind na me go foot all the bills that day. I laugh in Portuguese.
As soon as his brother settled down and started ransacking the kitchen for food, I called him and gave him money to buy noodles.
When eating, he stylishly told me that his female friend was gonna come see him and if it was cool to take her inside room. I give am thumbs up.
He laughed.....
"But during Sunday class, you go dey say make we no dey commit fornication. Hahaha"
"Your yansh...." I replied and joined him to laugh.
"So why you no follow my teachings?" I asked.
"When my brother wey be your co-teacher dey Bleep girls pass me, I still dey learn work."
I shook my head and smiled. All this children of Nowadays.
A pretty damsel arrived few minutes later, even better she was holding a big flask. I was so glad that Collins wasn't around, cause half of the contents of the flask was brought for me.
"Hope say you get condom?"
I whispered to Collins brother when he brought out the flask for me after fetching out his and the girl's own. After greeting me, the girl passed to his/my room. I definitely knew that what he said was true, na him get room wey I dey stay and even the babe know cause this isn't her first time.
"Eh, I no get oh, I been dey plan do withdrawal." He starmered shyly as he blushed.
"Check that old coat pockets on the wall." I directed him as he chop knuckles with me.
Chai, see pikin wey I graduate from children class. Choi Choi Choi....
I just increased the volume of the sound system and watch my movie in peace while chopping fried rice and plantain with one better meat logde for one corner. My day couldn't get any better.
Well, if my day was going well, Collins younger brother was revisiting Christmas in April cause Baby boy was on a roll.
After an hour, he came out shirtless, wearing only boxers, his body glistening with sweat, he smiled at me and walked to the free, got two bottles of water and went back inside. I just palm face dey shake my head for this generation.
After ten minutes the girl came out looking like they just had a prayer section, I pretend not to look at her as she took her flask which I had since emptied to the last drop of rice and greeted me join, I bade her farewell, urging her to come back soon, she was giving me that under-17 smile.
Me I know say, that girl no go see me and greet me add uncle again cause she go dey reason say as her guy Bleep her for my presence, we don all turn mates. She's Mad. No, I'm Mad. Infact we're all Mad.....
"Hope you didn't shift somebody's daughter womb?" I teased him when he returned.
"Hahahaha, this one na small sef, this is just the beginning..."
"Beginning of what?" I shouted but his phone was already ringing, he smiled and stood up to go pick the call.
"Another babe dey come, make I go pick her." He said as he returned then ran to the room and got a shirt before running out again, my mouth was open all through.
He returned minutes later with another stunning Barney, I was like, whaaaaaaatttttttt?
Guess what. The babe carry food flask come too. I was shaking my head in mad joy. I even broke into a bigger smile when the young man introduced her as the love of his life, the same introduction he used on the first girl.
He informed his chick that she should put the food for fridge cause we just finished eating, so we go use that one for lunch. I just dey shake my head as him carry her enter room.
Na around 3pm them comot. I nearly prostrate for ground for the niqqa. The babe was staggering, chai I instantly know say they guy don create borehole for person daughter. The girl use another thirty minutes rest before she fit manage Waka go house.
As the boy hold her for waist comot, I rush enter the room, the bed dey like say them fight Royal Rumble untop. I can't can't, I just jejely go back go continue my movie.
The young bros returned back smiling like the king of England after Elizabeth dies. I just dey hail egbon man.
Him inform me say him still get one for the road, say make him go chop and sleep small.
"This last babe na virgin sef, no be small work I do Oga Peter, e no easy." He said before poking his head back into the room.
I just pack hand put for head dey shake my leg like koboko. If I say I weak, that one na understatement.
By 6pm, another chick showed up. This one get morale die, she just greet me in passing with her black leather for hand, nobody need tell me say more goodies dey for me, so the rubbish greeting no pain me.
She just burst enter room, las las, na she comot with the flask, say her boyfriend say make she come give me. I just dey smile.
This time e no reach one hour, brother rush comot go bath. Babe no gree comot and he no gree enter room again, I know say brother don weak like werey. The babe later dress comot, her face spoil like two weeks apku wey them forget under sink. I know say her Toto still dey scratch her.
I wish say we dey America, the boy would have been like, Uncle I'm tired, can you Bleep my girlfriend for me. Hahahahaha.
Naso him Waka with her, when he returned I dey hail am like odogwu. No be say I never straff three babes in a day before, but I was way more older than he was. He's too young jare. This world have spoil pkatapkata, make them just blow trumpet abeg.
I think say na only me noticed, na until the two Corpers show begin hail the boy Nai I know say them been dey observe as the guy dey hammer babes since
morning.
To worsen the matter, the boy say make I tell Collins say him no dey sleep for house that night cause him dey go crash for another babe house.
Eh ... E remain small make I beg am to cut soap for me....
That night, I jejely carry blanket and pillow come sleep for parlour. No be me go sleep untop three girls combined sweat, saliva and cum. Hahahahahaha.
I rush go check my condoms the next morning, 10 were missing. Omor ×1000, I comot cap for that boy, he's a true legend.
Una know the funny thing, he said, I was his role model..... Eweeeeeeehhhhhhh..... Lol... that role model part got me... One of my friend still says I was his role model cos of the way he sees me with different girls bck in the hood.. The guy con get admission for oou come even worse.. when I tell him u too like woman..shey dem swear for u. E go say na me teach am since I was his role model... Till date he stills says that |

Mason Work..... Damn.... u got me maddeningly laughing...that part u couldnt move ur leg n ur guy buy u Pepsi n biscuits.. Lol... PounPoun work no easy oooo.. Las Las man gats make money
Gosh, I hate this work with passion. Okay, I don't actually hate it but it was once on my to do list of jobs that I'll never take but una see this thing called 'SAPA' na strong thing oh. E dey reset person brain die.
I begin dey eye dudes wey dey mold blocks for area, but pride no go allow me ask them to join.
Well an opportunity soon opened itself up, I rushed it with two hands. Philip and I were smoking one evening when he told me that his mom was building a new house and she'll need labourers for molding blocks.
He had all the tools, all that was needed were labourers. I committed myself immediately, he informed me that he'll invite six other guys, I convinced him that two other guys would be sufficient enough.
In my selfish mind, I had already calculated how the money between us would be shared, the lesser, the merrier or so I thought.
On the D-Day, I ransacked all my clothes till I saw the most oldest, I put them inside side bag, wear better cloth go there. Philip has informed me that he'll be leaving with his mom very early so he gave me the area address to meet them there.
I climb bike to the place, I begin fear as we begin enter the place cause na bush full everywhere, I had to call Philip to confirm the address.
Naso we reach where bike no gree go again, I had to drop and start trekking to their proposed building site.
I was sweating like a mad man when I got to the half built three bedroom flat.
Philip was alone mixing cement while his mother was inside doing what I didn't care to know. I went to greet her after shaking Philip as I changed in another room and joined him.
I gladly jumped into mixing with Philip, he laughed at me when I grabbed a shovel, and then showed me how to do it. I am a fast learner, so after some minutes, I was almost perfect, he brought pan and shoved cement into it, I watched for a minute and finally joined him.
Well it didn't register until we had molded over fifty bricks. My back was aching like mad, the vitamin D sun had turn to a menancing burning heat, my head was aching and beating on it's own, I could swear my brain was fried pink.
"Omor what about the other guys?" I asked Philip.
"Eh, na wetin I dey reason tell you sef. Nobody dey come again."
"Why?" I cried out.
"Eh, them say them busy. Atleast you dey now, we go do wetin we fit do."
"Wait, wait.... What do you mean by 'do wetin we fit do?'"
"Eh, if we fit mold like 500 blocks, e go do for today." He assured me.
"What!!!!!!!! Are you for real, baba. We fit do 500 blocks?" I shouted.
"Ehen na, no be how many minutes we just mold more than 50 blocks, before three hours, we suppose don finish."
I had to take my phone out to check the time. My eyes burgled in shock.
I rush Philip with Upper cut, grab am for ground begin show am my phone. "Niqqa it's been 1 hour 40 minutes....1 fucking hour.... 40 fucking minutes.... Molding just 50 bricks. Are you mad? How can we do 450 more bricks in 3 hours? Did we drink Nitro boost mixed with man power and tramadol? Niqqa are you crazy "
Okay, let's scratch out the last paragraph, I just removed my phone, looked at him evily with my side eyes and pocketed back the phone and grab my shovel.
I didn't had to think too long or hard about the work again. I figured out that if I could summon my inner powress and proceed with the work, the pay between us would be 50-50. That would be a whole lot money for me, that inspired me.
And one thing with me be say if I put my mind to do something, I must do am as far as I see a motivating factor Infront of me.
This doesn't apply to just money, I could keep chyking a babe for ages, most times over years just to hit that honey pot, my draw back is always brutual, they always wonder why I finally pulled back when I finally had access to the cookie jar, what they don't know is that, I just like hitting some things for fun, I like the thrill of the chase, the rejections, the aborted dates, the almost nacked moments, etc.
Well Stephanie was a living example, sometimes breaking hearts seems like fun...... Sick fun.
So cement I dug, mixed and poured. Bricks we molded slowly, painfully, my back was crying for a rest but I held on till even Philip called for a break.
Spoiler alert....... This is the best part of the story. I had to spoil the suspense of this chapter because I'm feeling funky today. Tomorrow is my B-day.. and I'm gonna have all the fun I can get.
Philip's mother served us two flask, one was filled with multi wraps of FuFu, the other was filled with ogbono soup which had enough ori-shi-ri-shi to make a girl sacrifice her virginity just to have a taste.
I smiled for the first time that day. All my worries seemed to be over as I helped my self to three wraps of apku. I was eating like an over zealous buffalo.
When I was through, I was feeling like Super man. Na me dey ask Philip to resume.
Thirty minutes later, I was feeling like soldier man wey narrowly escape from Boko Haram inside Sambisa forest. My body weak like cassava wey them soak inside water for six days, I dey breath like bush meat wey escape from hunter, I dey sweat like Bobby Lashley after fighting for ten minutes for inside ring. My waist been don shift halfway already. My eyes dey turn like person wey drink 12 sachets of Chelsea dry gin.
But I didn't give up. I kept on working till I could take no more. We went for another round of food but this time it seems like as soon as I swallow one morsel, the worms in my stomach would hurriedly devour it, I was eating for like I hadn't eaten for six days, still I was still hungry when we were through.
Philip mom called him to the side when we were backing, I was eyeing them while working, I noticed that she passed something from her fist to his, he quickly placed it into the pocket.
That was all the motivation I needed. The money wasn't too far now. It was within grips, just a few more hours, just maybe.
I got a renewed vigor that even Philip was outpaced and amazed. Well after an hour, I couldn't take it anymore, I dump the shovel and called it a day. My body was shaking like bitter leaf plant under heavy breeze. I called it a day, I didn't leave my parents house to come and die inside one bushy area in the name of molding bricks.
After about fifteen minutes, Philip gave up. We washed up in different corners of the building and dressed back in our nice clothes.
Na when I Waka for like five minutes Nai e click. I was moving my legs but I wasn't moving anyway. Philip was going ahead but I kept matching instead of moving forward.
"Omor, I don hook. Kai, my legs no dey function." I cried out as Philip turned to realise that I wasn't walking together with him.
I managed to hop to one veranda of a building, and sat down, my body weighed a ton. Philip was laughing his ass out. He went to a nearby store and got Pepsi and biscuits for me, I was refreshed for a minute as I got up and continued walking.
Okay, after all this stress, una suppose reason say my pay for dey my pocket nah, so that I can be suffering and smiling. So I asked Philip for my payment. His reply was classic.
"Which payment be that?"
"Wait, no be work we go do? Where my money for the work?" I was already fuming.
" Na only two hundred Naira my Mumsy give me, and I use am buy Pepsi for you and biscuits for us, na wetin I been dey reason say we go use climb bike but as I spend am now, na trekking things oh."
As Philip was speaking, I was in fantasy land. I was enacting in my head one of the most brutual ways I was killing that mutherfucker that moment as he spat those rubbish words out of his mouth. My Infuriation meter was over the bar. I'm sure smoke were coming out of my ears as I stared at the dude coldly.
One worst thing was that my contenance didn't flinch, I just kept that sad cold look with a whiff of smile on my lips.
"So you're saying na free work we just do?"
"Shebi my Mumsy cook for us. She been tell me say make I call my friends to come help me mold blocks, no be say na payment something. No vex, maybe na the English wey I use to inform you Nai confuse you say na paid jab."
"So you mean say, na free work I do?" I had to ask again to be sure.
"Omor, no reason am. Just hold this 100 bucks, I go try ask my Mumsy for something later, we go see for area." He added.
I was looking at him like the joker, for the niqqa mind, him don use me catch cruise. I no just say anything, I quietly followed him like how Issac been dey escort him popsy Father Abraham for inside bush.
I had some cash with me but I'll rather walk and die than climb bike with Philip, neither was I gonna spend the #100 he gave him. Bleep that niqqa. If trekking go kill me, make e kill me.
If I can walk from high level, follow water board all through old bridge till I got to deep into North bank. Vio testing ground precisely. Only my Makurdi folks would understand the distance, I did that shit on foot. So wetin be small Waka from road to my area. Omor naso I begin Waka like zombie.
I didn't even acknowledge Philip as he took the branch to his house. I was boiling the more the closer I got home.
Guess which mutherfucker I saw waiting with a big smile on his lips.
"Baba I been dey wait for you, hungry wan finish me since morning. Abeg find something make I go prepare chaw for us." Collins said.
As he was speaking, my hand was already withdrawing the miserable hundred Naira note that Philip gave me earlier. Collins was stunned as I brushed passed him, slamming the hundred Naira note on his chest, his fingers grasping the cash like a rat stealing cheese.
He was quiet for some seconds, he was putting one and two together. It didn't take him long to burst Into a stomach full of laughter. He had it all figured out. By then I was already on my bed.
If I say I felt bad, that would be an understatement. I was weary to my soul as I searched for something to soothe my burning spirit.
I walked to my dope stash.... Got a blunt and light it in my room. I knew Collins would be super pissed caused we agreed on a no smoking at home rule but then I wanted someone to throw my frustrations on.
As fate would have it, Collins didn't return till when I finished smoking and passed out. I'm sure he went to hang one corner to enjoy my hard day labour.....
As for Philip, he thought he had won. But then I'm a cold slow viper, I revenge slowly and painfully, when my opponent would least expect, sometimes you fit don forget, it would now be like say na me start the trouble, you don't know that na ages beef I dey pay back. |
