IGBOSON1:Thank you. At least you made attempt to intelligently provide a counter argument - although a weak one. You see that even you cannot sincerely answer the question. The truth is no where in the world will a public official whose office is under probe be left in office while the probe is on-going. And who says the person that will take over has to be from opposition as you suggested. Are there no credible people within the ranks of the ruling party that can take over the job. Also, who says the person that should take over the job has to be partisan? Are there no credible, well qualified people in Nigeria that don't belong to any party. When Jega, Soludo, SLS, Dora, Oby etc were first appointed, which political party did each of them openly belong? In any case, one has to wonder why non of you guys now harping on Pricewaterhousecoopers lack of qualifications for sainthood never said a word or opposed their appointment.....not until the result of their findings were made public, and it wasn't what you were hoping for! This your last point shows you did not do your home work. We (Myself in particular) have been saying this LOOOONNNNGGG ago before the report came out that why should these people still be in office. A brief check on my past post would have shown that. |
RevDesmondJuju: RevDesmondJuju: RevDesmondJuju:All of you, you see your life outside? You couldn't even counter the point. By the way, who is waiting for oil money. I have always asked for resource control and even at a point agreed to some opinions saying everybody should go his way. For the records, south west is about the only region that asked for true federalism in the last national conference! Unlike other selfish regional agenda from other regions. We know all your life centers around oil and we are not interested. If we need your oil, we won't have asked for full regional autonomy, state police etc. Even non-oil producing communities from SE are claiming SS just because of oil. You know what, we don't want to have anything with your oil. Lagos does not have oil, yet it is more developed and richer than half of the country put together. Ogun does not have oil, yet it has the highest number of industries in Nigeria. We don't want your oil - it has not done us much good. But I am not surprised. TRUTH HURTS |
IGBOSON1:If you were accused and your transactions are being probed. But you are left in office to continue your job. Then auditors arrive and ask for documents. Pls answer this question honestly: Assuming you are really guilty, will you sincerely provide documents that will implicate you to the auditors for probing or will you find a way around it to clear your name? It's not rocket science. |
In a sane country, the accuse would have stepped down for a transparent probe/investigation. But in my country, the whistle blower was shown the red card while those that were stammering on Channels TV coverage of senate investigation were all left in office. What do you expect to get from a probe when an accused is left in office while his/her office is under investigation. Do people really expect they will not cover their a$$. Do people really think they will submit documents that will implicate them to PWC? Well, I guess its not only Okupe that has noddles in the head. |
This just show how dumb GEJ is. Tell me how do you "CREATE" Entrepreneurs? Entrepreneurs ARE BORN NOT CREATED!! I 4 understand if he said he EMPOWERED entrepreneurs. But to say he created - hahaha I laff in otueke language. |
Why this phone now? Why not 3310? |
A quick check on my past post will easily show that I am core anti-gej. Nonetheless, I am not in support of the insult of the office of the president from external media. However, looking at the exchange rate today 1USD = 199.95NGN (it will probably be 230NGN to 1 USD at the parallel market ), I am tempted to look away. |
Acidosis:Guy, sorry to say but you are wrong. I didn't want to comment on this thread but now I feel like I should add a point or two.The problem is these jokers in government are either not serious, not smart enough or they just lack political will. Have we bothered to ask how come some serious private companies like flour mills are able to generate power on their own? I know of other companies making plans to generate power from gas. These companies will achieve their goals very soon while people like Nebo will still be telling us why and how it is impossible. While I agree that it will take a huge amount of money to meet 100% of Nigerian electrical needs on a national scale, it is possible to greatly improve this abysmally low availability if generation is decentralised AS A SHORT-TERM MEASURE! Flour Mills generate about 14MW, I think Nigerian Breweries generates its own power too (though not sure) and I know Consolidated breweries is planning something similar as the contract has been awarded to get gas from one of the gas companies. Why can't there be a short-term solution where the Present Discos (the interface between the customers and the electricity supply chain) are allowed to generate power for there localities (even if it is just a percentage of what is required to augment the little coming from the national grid) while the long term measure of building bigger power stations; fixing and expanding the transmission capacity progresses. Are we supposed to wait for 9 years to build another hydro power plant? Osinbajo said something about decentralisation which is why I think their government may be able to do something in the short term. For me these jokers are just not patriotic. If Nebo buys PZ plc today, he will find a way to get gas and generate power in two years maximum. |
The OP must have watched the interview in a calabash filled with calm water ![]() He certainly didn't watch the same interview that I saw. |
eleko1:Thank you my brother. Over to to Op ke? He has nothing to say about it. He is just posting what he has no idea about. Much of what gej claims today were started by his predecessors. Even the contract for the acclaimed enugu int'l airport was approved and signed by Yar'Adua! Let me refer the OP to two paragraphs in Soludo's first article. I believe he (Soludo) got it spot on and it a honest advice for the TANist to pass the message to their god on earth: First, beside the coterie of clowns who literally make a living with the sing-song of transformation agenda, President Jonathan must know that it remains an empty slogan. His greatest challenge is how to save himself from the stranglehold of his largely provincial palace jesters who tell him he has done better than God, and seek out ‘enemies’ and friends who can help him write his name in history. Propaganda won’t do it. |
Tearg1:I have never been a fan of Obj. But he did a lot more than this useless tyrannical president. God forgive you for saying Obj never gave a damn about the masses. The present privatisation of PHCN that obj started was not for the masses abi? Let me educate you a bit. Obj started the privatisation through the "unbundling" process of NEPA and got it incorporated Power Holding COMPANY of Nigeria - PHCN) which set the stage for the separation of generation, transmission and distribution aspects of the entire electricity chain into "18 business outfits". Though still owned by government but the final aim was to get them over to private companies (except transmission). it went further to produce the Electric Power Sector Reform (EPSR) which gave birth to Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) - the monitoring and regulating body for the electricity industry. ALL THESE WERE DONE 10 YEARS AGO in 2005. And i guess neither was the signing of the the mordernisation of the rail lines in the country: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6101736.stmWhat about the Local Content Bill that opened the oil industry to local players? Today many local companies now play active roles in the oil industry. Many of the equipment are now being fabricated in Nigeria as opposed to 100% importation before OBJ era. Nigerian engineering graduates have never had this much employment in the oil industry until OBJ came. Yet you dare open your mouth to say Obj never did anything. Now someone come with refurbished containers that take 10 hours to move from Enugu to PHC and you are jumping. Did you bother to read what the guy said after the trip: In summary, the railway authorities needs to wake up and address a lot of maintenance and technical issues with the rails. They should change personnel and systems. There are heavy delays for unnecessary reasons. People ask to be dropped off at places not designated as train stations and the officials agree. There were about six unofficial drops, they just inform the driver and he stops. It looks like GEJ's "world-class" train just lost a customer on his first trip - A perfect recipe for unsustainable train service i.e another wastage of public funds on unproductive asset. |
Tearg1:Op, does the train in London also take 10hours to travel a distance less than 250km? GEJ's train took 10 whooping hours from Enugu to Port Harcourt (less than 250km) See details of a nairalander experience from Enugu to Port Harcourt https://www.nairaland.com/2088514/train-ride-enugu-port-harcourt/5#29729610 |
Just like the privatization of NEPA/PHCN, this is another fraud from the GEJ administration claiming glory for what Obj started. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6101736.stm |
This has always been my stand - the onus of proof lie with the accuser. But, even at this Nigeria is at a dangerous cross-road. With the level of corruption in the country's judicial system, it not difficult to believe the allegation that the services of a judge to serve as a hatchet man has been bought with a whopping N2b! In the light of this, all these aforementioned cases that ought to serve as reference point come to nothing. I am not a lawyer so I have no experience in this kind of issues. So I don't know how an accuse can escape the hatchet from a compromised judge. It will be refreshing and uplifting to see the General come out of this. |
Sanchez01:This will be easy to get over giving the tyrannical nature of the GEJ. Except APC steps in and play dirty, an unknown Nkemjika stands no chance against the president in a corruption-entrenched judiciary system like ours. |
free2ryhme:I will simply contact my lawyer and file a serious lawsuit asking for big compensations. |
tit:You once announced to the world that you did not go to school. We have heard you now. But must you continue to show your illiteracy in public? As at yesterday according to INEC, 66% of PVCs have been collected and 33% of the registered voters are yet to collect. Yet you say the majority of registered voters have not collected. So 33% is now the majority out of 100%. Like seriously, are you this dumb or is it just that you have not been cured of the usual 16 is greater than 19 disease that is ravaging TANoids? |
dulaman:This is exactly my point. Ironically, the stuwpid set of a$sholes was able to mobilise the army to intimidate and harass law-abiding people yesterday. |
Ikengawo:Op. Correct me if I am wrong. I believe you are a Christian. I am sure you have not been reading your bible so I am going to force to read it - at least for today. FOR YOUR OWN SAKE PLS READ THE FOLLOWING VERSES First a piece of biblical advice: Luke 6:31 Consequence of not heeding biblical advice: Galatians 6:7 Proverbs 26:27 Matthew 7:12 I have done my little bit to help a fellow human. I rest my case ![]() |
Dead on arrival. Try harder next time. Next! |
vega84:This is the dumbest thing I have heard from the military in recent time. Are they saying they are going to leave the entire country unprotected simply because they want to focus on BH? If they don't have enough personnel to provide security during election, where did the ones that came out to intimidate people come from? Just when we want to get ramp up our support for the army even more in their fight against BH, GEJ decided to turn the army against us and even shamelessly tell us they can't protect the nation because of a fight against BH (which by the way smaller neighboring countries are spare heading). |
baybeeboi:GEJ till March 2015 |
frankyychiji:next! |
I cannot believe a president will roll out guns against his own people - especially in time of peace! These are the same people who stood by him at his trying times and supported him to ensure he became the president following Turai, Andoaka et al antics after Yar'Adua's death. Unfortunately for the people, the same president whom they stood by, couldn't think of a better new year gift but total subsidy removal on petrol on the 1st of January 2012. This triggered outrage and led to the most peaceful protest in Nigeria in recent history of civil protest. It was dubbed OCCUPYNIGERIA and the epicenter was the FREEDOM PARK in Lagos. Again, the protest was largely peaceful as there was no record of vandalisation or fighting or looting which usually characterised such protests in the past. Rather than appealing to the people and try to win their hearts by giving convincing reasons why such anti-people action had to be taken, the president along with his advisers in their infinite wisdom decided to quash the peaceful protest by sending out soldiers with guns against it people. Now fast forward to 2015, mr president has once again rolled out guns against the people yet again. Only difference is that this time around there is no THERE IS NO PROTEST AT ALL. Everybody was going peacefully about their daily activities until we start seeing armoured personnel carriers conveying battle-ready soldiers in a peaceful state! How ironic is it that the top echelon of the military just advised the electoral umpire that it cannot provide security during the elections as it will be busy "tackling" insurgents in the north eastern part of the country. What that means to me is that they don't have enough personnel to provide security cover for the electoral officers during election. The same military, somehow and miraculously have both the personnels and the hardware to intimidate, harass and wage psychological warfare against law-abiding citizens. Is it not also ironic to say the least that the same pdp/fg that is now harassing and provoking the citizens has been executing a shameful campaign of personal attacks on the leading opposition candidate - accusing him of tyranny during his short spell as the head of state of this nation. Is it not now obvious who the real tyrant is after two episodes of unprovoked intimidation and harassment by using military force. For those close the president Jonathan and his advisers, it will do a lot of good if the let them know that history has shown repeatedly that even trembling hands can be turned into fighting fists when pushed to the walls. I will not say more than that for now. A word is enough for the wise. |
SomebodyLovesMe:To add to your point, pdp and the army are indirectly telling us that they are going to mobilize all their men to fight BH. This means they are going to leave the entire country unprotected! |
phlemzy:What I really don't get about the very silly excuse is: are they saying the military don't have sufficient men? are they saying they are going to leave the entire country unprotected by sending all the military personnels to combat BH? Are they going to empty all the cantonments and other military bases scattered all around the country just to fight BH - an insurgent they have not been able to checkmate since GEJ assumed power. Again I ask ARE THEY GOING TO LEAVE THE ENTIRE COUNTRY UNPROTECTED BY SENDING ALL THE MILITARY PERSONNELS TO COMBAT BH? |

transit4:Is it only Nigeria that experienced population growth? Are you saying other countries of the world are reducing in population? SMH |
Unibenstudent:Had that great woman not taken that bold step, GEJ would have jetted out of the country in one of the numerous private jets if the threat was not contained. Same goes for Fashola. Let's a simple inference here. Insecurity was not this serious in 2009 and a sick Yar'Adua dealt a major blow to BH. But now under GEJ, BH has grown both in numbers and strength and at some point sacked NA from its base and grabbed there weapons. Same goes for corruption - corruption is now institutionalized to the extent that a certain amount stolen from tax-payers by politicians is not worth a jail term. Now, Imagine GEJ in that woman's role with the threat of an outbreak of a deadly, highly contagious virus (which has no cure) staring the nation in the face - - - SCARY Note All Politicians are A$$holes - Some are just more of an a$shole than others. I don't see Fashola (as a politician) doing any better than this woman if he was in her position. But GEJ breaks the world record when it comes to being an a$shole as a politician. For me its: AdaDevoh >>> Fashola >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>GEJ |
egift:egift don't waste your precious time on these people. First, as at today, the constitution which is the supreme document for law in this country does not ask for the certificates of presidential candidates before such candidates can be considered eligible. Only mischief makers want us to believe otherwise. Second, even if it did, the General has sworn an affidavit (giving reasons why he was not able to present the certificate - which again is not a requirement) in a competent court. So, except we are saying the court affidavit is not a tenable legal document or except they can prove that he lied, then there is really no case here. Third, the General went further to produce his statement of result - which in my opinion is extremely unnecessary as he had already satisfied all the requirements. Fourth, except people who say the statement of result provided by GMB is forged did not go to school thereby asking him to produce the original, they should have known that the onus of investigating the authenticity of such academic document lies on the the institution that request for it. Credible universities/polytechnics and other institutions will contact your previous schools and verify the documents you presented for any purpose. Only mischief makers or stupidly ignorant people will ask someone who is accused of presenting forged document to go back and look for original. If that person is truly fraudulent, he will simply go back to "oluwole" and get a cleaner, more original-looking certificate. What responsible institutions do is to collect the document presented by the "accused" and do the verification/authentication by themselves. I recall quite a number of students were expelled in my university (when they got to 300 level or so) for presenting fake o'level results. I also recall paying about N3000 to a government body for the authentication of my first degree when I filed an application to be a corporate member of government regulatory body. The investigation was done by them not me and the payment was just to cover their cost of investigation (which is still silly in my opinion but what can a man do about this). It is extremely irresponsible to ask someone you suspect have presented a fake result to go and look for the genuine certificate. I rest my case |
