So even if it is true (which I doubt), so $2b not accounted for is not corruption. Why am I not surprised even your jesus said nwobodo did not steal a sum deserving of a jail term. How can $2b missing mean anything to you? Do you know what $2b can do in terms of infrastructure in this country? |
Politics › Re: Hypocrites! They Cursed Orisejafor But Hailed Osinbajo by gists: 7:04am On Jan 17, 2015 |
jusRadical: It is very maddening that a group of people castigated and even 'cursed' the CAN president for parleying with the president of his country and standing up for the millions of Christians in this country. They preferred that Ayo distanced himself from politics because he is a pastor. They preferred him to 'take up arms' against the president instead of joining hands with him to build the nation.
Now they have Osinbajo. They now see nothing wrong with a pastor being involved in politics to the extent of seeking an elective post. Why the double standard?
Isthis not HYPOCRICY? No it is not hypocrisy, but your thread can be called stupidity (this kind of thinking can only come from a bigoted mind). Tell me which post is Osinbajo presently occupying in Christian Association of Nigeria? The point is that CAN is a body for promoting the religious upliftment of Christians in Nigerians and it should not be partisan let alone be seen to be a sectarian. CAN president should be Neutral to whatever party is in power. So are you telling me that under Yar'Adua, CAN was not able to promote the religious upliftment of Christians? Yar'Adua and OBJ were both PDP presidents why was the CAN president not romancing the presidency during those administrations? So now that the president is from the same region with oriseJET4 he and your lot suddenly realise that CAN needs to stand up for the millions of Christians in this country. What will he do if GMB wins in next month election? Will he stop standing up for the millions of Christians in this country? The GO of RCCG and other churches, are they not standing up for the millions of Christians in the country? Why are they not seen romancing with the presidency (at least its not that obvious and their private jet was not involved in any money laundering scandal). What would you and your ilk have done/said if the jet belonging to the Sultan of Sokoto (the Muslims equivalent of CAN president) was caught in IRAN trying to buy weapons for Nigerian army under Abacha?As far as I can tell, Osinbajo is not the CAN president. He is just a Nigerian christian like you who is very much free to contest election under any party. Take you bible and raise it up and sincerely confirm to God that you would have rejected the offer if apc had offered you the vice presidency slot |

There is FREEDOM OF SPEECH everywhere in the world and jim just exercised his. But what you may not have is FREEDOM AFTER SPEECH. Jim just "lost" his freedom after making his "speech" in USA. Same thing happened to Edward Snowden!! This applies to every country on this planet. egift: When Buhari clamp-down on Corruption and government office holders become transparent and accountable on funds disbursed to them, all the money that are sinking into the hole of Corruption will be available for development.
So before you spend money, it has to be when you execute projects for the masses and the officials will also be prudent in spending to ensure it withstands any scrutiny.
So ending/minimizing Corruption will leave more money on the table to massive development. These will build infrastructures and create jobs.
Vote Buhari - Feb. 14th 2015. Spot On.! A classical example is the issue of the unaccounted billion of dollars between NNPC and the Ministry. Imagine what $10b can do let alone $20b. Corruption is the bane of development. Even though there is no country that is corruption free, I am yet to see a truly developed country that has not tamed corruption to the bearest minimum - a sharp contrast to the institutionalised corruption model in this country. |

APContherun: A mistake obviously but does it invalidate the other pictures? The fact remains that Jonathan established and is funding 9 new federal universities as with the already existing ones. Those universities have thousands schooling in them as well as thousands too employed to work there. Those universities too have created thousands of indirect jobs. I won't even be suprised some of you asking silly questions about them are either students, workers or have relatives associated with the schools. Those schools feed millions of Nigerians and that we give Jonathan credit for. I will not debate whether gej built new universities or not. But we know the present ones are not even ranked among the middle class institutions in the world. Truth be told gej is not the one that ran them down. But he is contributing his own quarter to to running them down. What sense does it make when the existing ones are not adequately funded and were on strike for 5 months in a year. Yet you are building new ones. Its like someone that is not able to feed his children and yet he continues child bearing. I heard gej bragging in Lagos about how he sent some 1st class students abroad for their masters (as if this is the first gov. to do that) but is that not aconfirming the fact that the present schools we have are not up to standard? If they were up to standard, why send our graduates abroad for masters? The countries he sent those 1st class graduates to, are they building more schools or expanding the capacity and facilities in the existing ones? Can you beat your chest and say these new schools will not go on strike together with the existing ones over lack of funding in the next couple of months? Will they not turn to glorified secondary schools? #gejisafraud |

One final question I have before I leave this thread is what exactly was the cause why the trip took whooping 10hrs for a journey of less than 250km. Was there a major breakdown that took hers to repair or was it just the speed or was it just human factors at the various stop over stations? Thanks op the the job well done. |

Well I am not surprised when the president can open his mouth and say the amount nwbodo embezzled is not even enough to buy peugeot, thus not deserving a jail term. FYI, people are just being conservative with the figures to give gej and his thieving crew the benefit of the doubt. I could as well as said at least $5b. The amount is not the main point. The main point is that huge amount is missing and gej thinks the best thing to do is to sack the person that raised the alarm and retain those that could account for the money while giving Nigerians locomotive trains that takes more than 6hrs to travel between enugu and phc. Now, even if it is $5b, that is still more than the cost of modern train as someone had shared on nairaland before. If that money was not missing and used for this project, people won't be here asking how long it takes this locomotive to travel between phc and enugu - a distance of less than 250km. The OP left enugu at about 7am, 6 hours later (that is 1/4 of a day) he is still not in PHC. Even a molue would have made the journey long ago. |

Going to US military school, going to the moon and back, and serving as a head of state are not relevant to the issue. Does he have a school cert or not I am not a lawyer, but this is what the constitution says: A person shall be qualified for election to the office of the President if -
(d) he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent. I do not see the requirement that the candidates MUST PRESENT ANY certificate. What the law says is that he should have been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent. Of course, the lawyers in the house can throw more light on this. This is the time for lawyers to make lots of money Again, let the PDP do the needful. |

If they are sure of what they are saying they should take the matter to court and let the court disqualify him - simple The law is very clear. For those who do not know what the law says on this: A person shall be qualified for election to the office of the President if -
(a) he is a citizen of Nigeria by birth;
(b) he has attained the age of forty years;
(c) he is a member of a political party and is sponsored by that political party; and
(d) he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent. PDP do the needful. |

The painful part is GEJ, who decided 2 turn his back against the ppl who voted him into power and gave freehand to his party members who as maggots have eaten this country dry through her wounds (power, infrastructure etc).

The South South are making political statements and we are showing the world that we don't play tribalistic politics. Contrary to your nonsense claims, Jonathan performed as the worst leader to the SS people. Who built LNG? Who built the Warri refinery as Minister? Who created Bayelsa State? Who ensured that Rivers is emancipated from Ojukwu and the eastern region? Who took Jonathan first as VP? Who convened SNG to move for Jonathan ascension to the Presidency? As long as the SS is concerned we want the Best for our region. We know that not even 20years of Jonathan's Presidency will give us our need talkless of wants. LRNZH: Granted OBJ performed better in his 2nd term than in his first. But judging from the Nigeria he inherited from the Military, he performed better than GEJ.
A few of them are: Buildup of goodwill to get Nigeria's debt forgiven and improving Nigeria's global image GSM licensing provision. Previous Gov'ts wouldn't for fear of losing grip on security OBJ boosted foreign reserves and cut down on corruption with EFCC. I know a lot of civil servants who complained how Baba wouldn't let them chop.
OBJ performing better than GEJ in their first terms Is not even the issue. Overall, we think PDP has failed and needs to roll over.
For all the goodwill GEJ got, for the highest oil price regime he led under, for the more progressive economy he inherited from Yar’Adua with militancy problem solved, GEJ is a failure.
I can assure you if oil price had stayed stagnant at $60/ barrel through out GEJ's 6 years, there would have been a national revolt from how broke the country would have been. After an average of $90/ barrel of oil, the Gov't is broke immediately oil prices shifted low. With very scanty capital projects to show for it.
Finally, even if we made a 'mistake' of not voting out OBJ after his first 4 years, we should not make the same mistake again. Otherwise Nigeria masses will never be taken seriously. Once beaten..... In addition, most people forget the fact that the privatisation of NEPA was actually kick-started during obj administration. This is another fraud this TANist are playing on us. Obj started the privatisation process through the "unbundling" process of NEPA and got it incorporated Power Holding COMPANY of Nigeria - PHCN) which set the stage for the separation of generation, transmission and distribution aspects of the entire electricity chain into "18 business outfits". Though still owned by government but the final aim was to get them over to private companies (except transmission). it went further to produce the Electric Power Sector Reform (EPSR) which gave birth to Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) - the monitoring and regulating body for the electricity industry. ALL THESE WERE DONE 10 YEARS AGO in 2005. Now TANists will give all the glory of unbundling and the incorporation NEPA to PCHN to all the different companies to gej. |

Their killers will be sentenced but that won't change the fact that what the satirists had done was also wrong. Journalists need to be ethical and know where to draw the line. This is a basic truth. Killing the journalists is an evil act no doubt and every sane human should condemn the act. But my concern with people especially from this part of the world is that we tend to look and judge things "myopically" from religious view point. I said this on another thread and I'll repeat it here before I go to bed. There is freedom of speech everywhere in the world even in Saudi and other places where it appears there are gross violation of human rights. But what we fail to realise is that although every country guarantee everybody freedom of speech and expression, nobody can assure anybody of freedom after speech - not even in US (Edward Snowden comes to mind). People should realise that different cultures holds different issues sacred. People should be responsible enough to know the boundary and respect it no matter the topic - religious, politics, national security, economic etc. |
