Felicity001: Cheaper to acquire and cheaper to maintain but fuel economy is more as it comes with a 2.4L and the V6 with 3.0L. A good Camry will stand the taste of time. The AC na die more leg space. With your knowledge, I must concur. Thanks, boss. |

kanuisagoat: I ran through jiji and saw one with 3.2m asking price. If the expected increase in custom duties happens, I hope 4m will be enough to buy a corolla.
Maybe there's a silver lining in all of these for existing drivers. "New" cars will coming into Bolt will reduce and a lot of partners will sell off their cars. Since they can sell their corollas for 3.4m Nigerian used, what's the sense in leaving it on Bolt to collect 30k weekly.
Less cars on ehailing, the more the demand and the more the surge. Inside life. |

kanuisagoat: Seems pretty obvious. Who is going to buy a corolla of 2.8-3m to earn 30k weekly?
The corolla is now out of reach of most people. Check nairaland auto section, how many corollas do you see? I also think dealers are not buying it any longer as they used to Nnah mehhhn. This is not making sense at all. This Camry is 2.4L engine. Nawa for who never get him own personal ride ooh. We go get there sha. It is well, boss. Much respect. |

confusedworld17: Went to eat at that calabar kitchen on Emmanuel street Ogudu... Came out to see that a Police car had parked behind my car, there by preventing me from driving out and I don get request.
So I walked up to the two police men that was inside the car to let them know that I was leaving. The two of them started going up and down. Emmm.. the car key is with their oga... he is eating. I told them to Please collect the car key and move the car so that I can leave.
One of them now summoned courage and said, no vex abeg, two of us wey u see here no sabi drive. I almost burst laugh but I maintain. Las las them go collect the car key, na me come help them move the car.
I was dumbfounded say a whole police officer cannot move a car just from one block to the next block. What if in a case of emergency where by the one driving was hit by a bullet and they are in hot pursuit of a criminal ? Na him be say na to call control room to send somebody wey sabi drive. Policemen and danfo drivers are the same, dem no dey get drivers license, na those ones you want all of them to know how to drive? If I were you, I go laugh out oooh. So that shame go catch them. True true, Nigeria policemen are in confused world of their own. Godfather10: Copied from a Friend on FB
When people talk down on the job I always laugh. The job is not that bad. In fact it’s better than a 150k salary job to me. Some will rather do an 100k salary job than drive on the e-hailing platforms. It’s their choice so we all good. Agreed that the job is not easy or paying a lot of money but it's not as poor as we paint. The app companies can do better too.
According to my observation and experience, there are some factors that determine if one will make money on the job or not. Either anyone likes it not, it’s very binding and can’t be overemphasized. People makes lots of money on the job and that’s the truth while lots of people still make complaints and losses. It’s your choice to decide to make money or loss and be able to do the right things.
When I started this job in 2018, I was complaining coz I wasn’t making money, was running into debts and even borrowing money to supplement. I couldn’t even deliver 20k a week. My car was not sound too, if I make 20k, a fault of 8k is waiting for me at the corner. I was inexperienced. 8am, would still be stretching on my bed when early risers had made money and the surge that comes with morning rush and most people had gotten to their offices.
I quit the job for like 4 months but I had to go back coz I couldn’t secure another job and I was almost starving but I didn’t go back the same way. I got a tear rubber/brand new Kia used for just 6months. I sat back, think, asked questions from people that are making good profits and I restrategized. Then boom it worked. Now my average earnings weekly on the app is between 120k to 150k with 30-50k offline.
Let me enumerate a few tips or factors that many do overlook which actually has lots of influence on your earnings resulting into either profit or loss.
1. State of your choice of car. The car must be very sound and good and all parts working well. You can’t make profits with a bad car. You’ll spend the little you make at mechanic shops+ wasting time you’re supposed to be making money and more bad during rush hours. A good car is the first thing you must have if you must make profits.
2. You must know and understand destination you can go and those you must not. Some trips waste time with little profit. Pick areas you want to work and go that you’re certain of getting reasonable trips back. The app is designed to accumulate fare according to the distance covered and not actually time spent. Avoid traffic prone areas without surge. It waste your fuel and time with very little or no profit.
3. Do not always be in hurry to blow empty back to your favorite work location, hang around a bit using your destination or do trips around, after a couple of trips you might be surprised to get a trip right back around your favorite base. The more empty you blow, the more profit you’re blowing away.
4. Do not be lazy. Work hard, do not get on the road by 8 or 9am when early risers had enjoyed the money rush. Be calculative, Get out by 6am tho you have to be careful considering the security challenges in our society. When you’re out to work, do it deligently.
5. Try as much as possible to be clean and smell nice, take care of your car, let it be clean and smell good. Drive carefully, avoid scratches and dents as much as you can, be jovial. It will fetch you offline customers after a good online trips. Offline gives more profit. Once done an offline trip for 4 days with payment over 200k and 9days job on 25k daily.
6. Save more, we make daily money and it’s easy to spend and lost sight of your earnings if you’re not careful. Don’t spend just the way you earn. Prioritize your responsibility. Don’t be a Jesus or Muhammad with your finances. You can’t save the world. Asides your family and loved ones, do not be responsible to people that can’t raise or borrow you funds if you or your car breaks down. (Giving or charity is different from being responsible to people’s needs)
7. If you’re a man, try as much as possible to keep only one partner. Seen men waste their earnings on different girls. Hotels, bars and club. It eats deep into your purse. Don’t be responsible for ladies that are not your spouse or family.
8. Once in a while, spoil yourself, eat good food, eat fruits and vegetables, blood tonics, drugs and other multivitamin. Get good sleep as much as you can. You need to stay healthy and alive to work and enjoy your profits.
9. Understand and know locations to be at every period of the day. Don’t park in commercial areas in the morning expecting to get trips. Example: don’t be in VI, Ikeja -Alausa, Allen, Toyin, Awolowo both in Ikeja and Ikoyi. Trips are low at that time as people are coming in and not going from those locations. Drive to residential areas like Ogba, Agege, Egbeda, Magodo, Ajah, Lekki phase 2, Sangotedo, etc to get profitable trips that comes with morning rush. Then do the opposite for evening.
Avoid government or official areas during weekends and holidays, trip request are very low there. Go to residential areas in the morning and evening go to event centres, recreation parks and areas and beaches, cinema house, shopping malls, popular pubs, lounge and bars.
10. Try as much as possible not to stay or park where lots of drivers are parked waiting for trips xpt during rush hours or there is surge. I know that might sounds funny but according to my observations, it works. Stay somewhere far away from them. Request at times leaves drivers in a choky location to meet driver that is just driving into the area or to one getting close to drop off.
11. Use a very good phone with better GPS, RAM and microprocessor. Phones that are low at these picks request very slow, reads fare poorly, and may even close the app on trip. It’s also bad at map routings.
12. Be consistent at work. On your first day on the job or after coming from a break or holiday, it’s hard to point to your earnings even if you make money that day. You may not be able to lay hold on the cash. Maybe it’s on your app as card trips or whatever. You start seeing your earnings on the second or third day of consistent work. So if you’re doing one day off and on at the job while having no other job, I’m sorry for you.
I did salary job for 4years, couldn’t get an apartment. Was staying with a brother. After understanding this job, and going back to it, took me 9months to save an get an 2bd apartment on the mainland.
This is not to flaunt whatever, it’s to encourage anyone that the job isn’t as bad as many says and with proper planning, you could still meet your targets and live fine.
May God help us and bless us with wisdom. Thank you very much.

sunnymighty: Not saying newbies should not be given opportunity, different strokes for different folks, perhaps I didn't do my due diligence well, a guy later said the same guy approached him for his Toyota Sienna for transport business from Lagos - Abuja but changed his mind at the last minute, only knows how to move a car from point A to B but not how drive. Matt---1King1 karma will locate you anywhere you are, that's my prayer. His case wasn't really being a newbie on the Uber/Bolt platforms, his issue was that he couldn't drive. It is well, my brother. @bold. Oh, I think I can remember you posted this some time ago. I think I've seen a post like this here before, but I'm not sure if it was you that made the post. Felicity001: Na lie ooo Jankara no near ladipo for anytin at all... From my hux 2 Jankara is like 5min drive N100 bike. There're a lot you won't get to buy at Jankara market the last time I changed my breakpads I couldn't get to buy there na ladipo I finally end. Things are cheaper in ladipo and for my own brand of car you won't get some things done at Trinity, Apapa but in ladipo na final. Some parts and workmanship are cheaper in Apapa while some are cheaper in ladipo it's just a matter of knowing ur car part very well.
Most parts sold in Jankara are from Nigeria cars bought and butched.
If you no strong spiritually no just near Jankara mechanic those boys dey use jazz well... Dem go chop u wella. I spent more than 150k in my EOD many years back then I reach hux I no c watin I use money do. I almost cried.

sunnymighty: Met the young man on this forum and I felt there was nothing wrong if I give him the opportunity, there is always a first time of everything,he drove my car for just two weeks I could almost not recognize the car,it was one story after the other, the last straw was when he bashed the front bumper and wanted to prove that the car in front was at fault, I insisted he take my car to my panel beater, he pleaded that I should allow him take it to his Dad's panel beater somewhere in Ipaja, he couldn't fix the car that day and on his way back he told me he was arrested by LASTMA officer for not wearing his seat belt, imagine and at the end he was fined 20k my brother even though I collected #30k frm him before I gave him the car,I ended up spending more than that on the car withing those two weeks, had no option than to collect my car.Never seen where a partner will use his mother and sister as a guarantor, we were still on this when all these started happening.I have since learnt my lesson Nnah mehhhn. Felicity001: My 1st rentee stays in ago palace axis 2nd Egbeda 3rd was unknown as I never saw him 4 once 4th ayobo inside 5th Ikeja/Opebi 6th Agric Bus stop side in Iba after LASU...
all of which was never a problem during inspection, repairs whatsoever. What matters is your money.
A bad person will remain a bad person distance or whatsoever can't change it.
So I do not see any sense behind owner partners always wanting a driver within their neigbourhood like he's gonna run away with the car or like it's g9nna hinder them from having a regular or agreeded inspection of their car. That should be left for the driver to worry about and not owner partners.
Its high time we change this narrative if you're in for business get serious with it otherwise drive your car yourself or look for a relative you know everything about to drive it.
Drop Mic. Boss, I think it depends on individual ooh. You can't compare how you'd handle things with how others will. It is all about understanding from the rentee's side that, many car owners are very cautious about giving out a ride to a stranger. As I said, the brother was very friendly and sincere, I can't drag it further cos the car belongs to the owner ooh. I understand his concern. What about those that would cut you off if you're not an existing Uber/bolt driver with a good rating? Once they know that you're at the entry level - you're disqualified already. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Glithronix: 5:20pm On Mar 29, 2022 |
And I also come to a conclusion that few people that are willing to give out cars for rental prefer drivers who already have driver's profiles with high ratings on the Uber/bolt platforms. How do newbies like us now get a chance? Once they hear say you are new on the Uber/bolt platforms like this, you're stylishly disqualified. Na real hustlers wey know say na somewhere someone go start from fit consider coconut head newbie like us - with entry level. We no go give up ni. |
