Afobaba33:and what if you go to hell for it |
Will you go to hell for giving to a babalawo, native doctors, shrine priests, dibia and the like? |
Let me tell you a story He will favor those who forsake the Holy covenant, he will defile the sanctuary and put an end to daily worship by replacing it with abomination that causes destruction. Those who go against God's covenant he will corrupt with flattery and win them over to his side but those who KNOW THEIR GOD, and OBEY HIM, shall grow and produce, they shall be strong and obey, they shall stand firm resisting him and have understanding to instruct others, teaching and telling them what is happening, irrespective of the consequences, of the persecutions and sufferings they will face. While all these persecutions are going on, a little help will arrive, and many who are not sincere will join them deceitfully for their own selfish reasons, hypocrites full of lies and flattery. And some of those who have understanding will stumble, they will be defeated as they are tested to be cleansed and chosen, some will waver and become weak, but the sufferings, the persecutions, the test and refining which comes to purify and make spotless must continue till the end of time, until the right appointed time when the end shall come, when all shall be gathered. Hmm, he shall do according to his own will, exalting himself, saying he is greater than every god there is and even blamspheme against the Most High God. He will succeed and be prosperous till God's wrath is full and God's word fulfilled. He shall have no regard for God nor the desire for women, he shall magnify himself above all and instead he shall proclaim and honor a new god, god of forces, god of fortresses, a strong god representing a stronghold where people gather, he will worship strength and power and honor it with gold, silver, money, gifts and costly things. With his god he will attack others, to increase it's glory and honor those who submit to him appointing them positions of authority, making them to rule others and dividing land among them as their reward... (This story is from Daniel 11 and the rest of it continues even to 12:3 when Jesus shall stand and resurrection and transformation shall occur) Those who have ears hear what the Spirit is saying. Prayer Point Today Father help me to stand strong till the end, that I do not waver that I do not fall. Help me to know you LORD God, that I may be purified by your truth and not corrupted by lies. Help me to hold unto your word and covenant till your son Jesus Christ comes. In Jesus name we plea, amen. |
CodeTemplarr:not knowing the difference between light and darkness is an evidence of blindness. If the kingdom of God is the same to you as the kingdom of men it shows your state and your need for Jesus to open your eyes. Except you are born again you cannot see the kingdom of God, repent and be baptized Code, repent and be baptized. |
MightySparrow:not sure what you mean by refused, because at first they had to wait for the Spirit ane power to come upon them and when the Lord spoke to him he went to the gentiles and witnessed the them baptized by the Holy Spirit. So I don't know what you are trying to show, especially when mentioning things like Elijah thought he was the only one, he didn't go around lying and defrauding people and which one is Elijah brought down fire is a fire mutant or what? What's your point, is that some evil that he did? Moses approved divorced, so what? Wasn't it because of the wickedness of men, was the law not also because of the wickedness of men. Moses struck the rock, you are on your own calling it Jesus o, and we knew that's a mistake he made out of anger were he spoke as if he was their god. And wasn't he rebuked for it? In NONE of these do you find them teaching an error that goes against God, or were they reproved for doing so? Like I said do not associate mistakes common to men to one in which perverts the word of God and refuses to repent from it, because other men they believe in do so as well, even when it goes against the words of Jesus. Will the Spirit of Christ lead one into going against Christ? No. Out of the abundance in a man he speaks, and out of the evil he brings forth evil words so also out of the good he speaks forth rivers of living water refreshing the lives of those thirsty for God. |
"Since it's my choice whether I tithe or not, I choose to tithe? It's my money and my decision. Even if not tithing doesn't lead to hell, I will tithe or will I end up in hell because I am tithing? Tithing is my personal choice as long as I don't go to hell." Will you go to hell for tithing? |
MightySparrow:and how did you know they misinterpreted God? Wasn't it because there was correction and they accepted it. Look there are mistakes a man of God may make, but not the Gehazi Balaam type and then refuse to repent of it. Yes Peter spoke by the spirit and later spoke by the devil but he was rebuked for it, for what he said later to Jesus. But at this time was the spirit of God dwelling in him? You said that God doing miracles through a man doesn't mean he can be scriptural sound? Give us an example of such men Then what is the purpose of the miracles if that is true Not sure what you mean by scripturally sound but I take it, to mean to reveal the intent and heart of God concerning salvation for us. |
Sirmwill:Jesus didn't find it difficult, he is the author of faith for a reason, he didn't argue that with the devil for even when he was a teenager he told Mary should I not be about my Father's business. For the Spirit bears witness within, if someone outside questions the Holy Spirit in another it is possible because we don't see what is in man except it is revealed to us. It doesn't in anyway raise doubt about the existence of the Holy Spirit. Whether it is easy or hard is less important as to that a person actually has received the Holy Spirit. After all while for some while Peter was still speaking they received but for Simon who offered money he was rejected and told to go and properly repent. |
Sirmwill:Yes I knew that was the verse and I know what it means as I have told you already. The question now is, either you believe he lied or that your understanding of what he said is wrong. |
First thing we should agree on is that no man can overcome the temptation and deception of the devil without the word of God, Jesus Christ. Emphasis on Jesus being the revealed word of God. Now Jesus overcame temptation by quoting scripture, which were the words Moses wrote based on his understanding of God and what God spoke. When God spoke first about false prophets and false prophecies, we read Deut.13.1-3 - "If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, "Let us go after other gods'--which you have not known--"and let us serve them,' you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. The verse before Deuteronomy 13:1 says Deut.12.31 - You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. 1. We must not worship God in a way he doesn't like, in the way of men, Luke wrote that Jesus said Luke.16.14 - Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him. Luke.16.15 - And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God. Abomination in the sight of God, and this was after Jesus said in verse 13 of Luke 16, you cannot serve both God and money. For men have turned church to a den of thieves where they buy and sell, power, grace, anointing, position, blessings, etc all with scriptural basis and justification. 2. Deut.12.32 - "Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it. Adding to what God commanded, Luke.9.35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" What are we to hear from Jesus? They are the commands God expects from us. Then why do men add to what Jesus commanded us? The reason is because they are false and not servants of Christ Jesus. The biggest pointer to a false teacher and false prophet is idolatry. And the goal and benefit of your serving and obeying God would be money. Of course because there is a clear command not to bow to money, the devil is very cunny and subtle in his deception that he intends to make your heart desire and bow to what your physical head won't bow to, and that's money. "for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul." 1John.2.15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (NKJV) If God is going to let us to be tested this way, it means he would let men come to us with words and prophecies that promises to make our life better, like satan showing Jesus the kingdoms of this world. We get deceived and tempted by our own desires for pleasure which are being justified through scriptures they read to you telling you God wants you to have them, God knows they are good for you. In Deuteronomy 12&13 the word enticement is used to show that what is offered to you, the Idolatry, is pleasing and will satisfy your needs. God is telling you not to listen to those who give or add commands that tell you to do things so as to get what you want or get the things of this world. If you do not submit to God you will not resist the devil 2Tim.4.3 - For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 2Tim.4.4 - and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. What deep mysteries have your itching ears heard? What desire has been meant that you have called testimony whereas it contradicts the love of God and the words of Jesus. This is what Peter wrote about these men 2Pet.2.1 - But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2Pet.2.2 - And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 2Pet.2.3 - By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. Destructive heresies they have added to the gospel, leading millions and billions to hell and the making the world blasphemy against Jesus and the body of Christ through their covetousness. Look what about you who follow them? Who gives excuses for them? Do you believe following the blind will lead you to salvation? |
Sirmwill:no I don't What you need is the Holy Spirit to help you understand the word of God |
Sirmwill:lol if it were that easy, many would have believed |
Sirmwill:like I said, understanding comes from the Holy Spirit and this here is an evidence that if God doesn't reveal his word to us we may misinterpret it. Let me not go to deep into it, God said he would die, but not when he would die nor how he would die, and later God tells Adam you will return to the dust of the earth. Did God's word change? Jesus saying we would not die would seem like a lie seeing that those who believe do "die" according to the understanding of men concerning death. But Jesus, like in scripture, would use a different word, slept as if to refer to the death of believers as sleeping and he could wake them up, resurrection. Now though both the wicked and the righteous look alike lying in state, one is dead the other is asleep. Understanding and knowledge is given to you, Jesus said to his disciples, but not to them. Do you understand. |
pointblank247:That loyalty seems cultured into them, some may say it may even have a demonic influence involved in it. Because no matter how you read the word of God to them it's like they are blind like a strong veil has been put over their eyes to reject whatever wasn't said by their pastors. Some of this men have the ability to confuse people into giving into demonic projects and the people will be happy doing so. Receiving strong joy and confidence from deception. |
Sirmwill:God said he would die and he died. God doesn't lie nor does he change his mind not word, God sent the prophet back to tell him, when he will die. The situation changed but God's word didn't, his prayer added God's mercy and grace to God's word. The same when God said he will kill the people of Israel in the desert, Moses pleaded, it was postponed because they latter still died in that wilderness while their children were the ones who entered the promised land. Jesus had already told Paul he would suffer that's why in the face of their revelation he didn't shrink back in fear but accepted it in light of God's word. Our ability to discern the spirit speaking to us and to understand what the Holy Spirit is saying as to be based on the word of God, Jesus Christ. And if there is any contradiction is shows it's an evil spirit or our own human error at work. |
Sirmwill:You are right by their fruit you shall know them. Now how do we validate the fruit they bear? Anyway, did you quote the correct verse Because the verse Eph.1.13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, (NKJV) Doesn't support your statement, "that it is easy to have the Holy Spirit." |
Sirmwill:is there any other example of the spirit of God contradicting the word of God in the bible? If not, why insist on one thing? That stubborn insistence on what could be a human error could be very misleading and prompt contradictions and errors. What is the implications of acts 21:4 was it really the Holy Spirit that told them to tell Paul not to go? Or was it there own assessment of what was revealed to them. When Peter heard Jesus was to die, what was his reaction? Now your message is already based on a wrong assumption of what may have been misinterpreted which could result in people saying things like well even if the Holy Spirit says so, as long as I obey what I believe is the command of Jesus it is okay. Do we then forget that They that are led by the spirit are children of God |
How did Jesus overcome the temptation of the devil? Jesus compared what he was hearing with his knowledge of what is written and his understanding of God, and that's what we should do. I believe the first thing we need to realise is that these men, whom we believe have the holy spirit yet having these false preaching, false teaching and false prophecies, actually don't have the Holy Spirit in them and it would be hard for you to believe that, because we get blinded by the three Ps, Power, Prosperity and Popularity. We forget that the devil is an author of confusion and this confusion is as a result of his deceptive spirits he sends into men. Power in the sense that they are right some times, miracles and healing are seen to happen there are testimonies and they are widely accepted and popular men of God who are prosperous and seemly blessed by God. Now this evidence is hard to deny but do these three things actually prove a man has the spirit of God? |
Sirmwill:1. Make your message clear enough not to be misinterpreted. That is we should do our best I apologise for the earlier misunderstanding but still he wasn't prophesied to by the Holy Spirit not to go, and until we can differentiate between human opinion and the leading of the Holy Spirit we will find our selves in situations where we think the spirit of God is saying things contrary to the word of God. A prophet was needed when the disciples gave the message based on their feelings. It's not the first time the book of acts shows such correction and growth and how the Holy Spirit handles things. If we say the Holy Spirit Paul then that means Paul disobeyed his command, meanwhile such didn't occur. Writing things like this is also a cause of error in the body of Christ "You think it was not the Spirit of God that spoke through the disciples that said he shouldn't go? Yes, it was the Spirit of God." It's not what I think, but what I know the Spirit of God does not contradict the word of God, irrespective of whatever or however Luke or the others write or our translations. |
Sirmwill:what translation did you use. Another point why there are errors and false teachings in the church is as a result of some translations and interpretations of written texts. Let's read some Acts.21.4 And finding disciples, we stayed there seven days. They told Paul through the Spirit not to go up to Jerusalem. (NKJV) Acts.21.4 we looked up the local disciples and stayed with them seven days. Their message to Paul, from insight given by the Spirit, was "Don't go to Jerusalem." (MSB) Acts.21.4 Finding the disciples there, we stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit they urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. (NIV) Acts.21.4 And having looked up the disciples there, we remained with them for seven days. Prompted by the [Holy] Spirit, they kept telling Paul not to set foot in Jerusalem. (AMP) We found the Lord's followers there and stayed with them for seven days. They warned Paul not to go to Jerusalem because of what the Spirit had told them. (ERV) |
Sirmwill:I read it, but reading and understanding are two different things The disciples saw what was going to happen through the Holy Spirit and they pleaded with him not to go. It's a very normal and usually reaction When prophet Agabus came he only told him what would happen to him in Jerusalem and not a command for him not to go. |
Sirmwill:nobody prophecied that he shouldn't go. Such careless assumptions lead to the false teachings we are talking about |
I have usually excused some of these things (teachings) as human error but in as we are weak as long as we are willing, just as the spirit of God lead the church in Acts in it's growth, he will lead us into correction as well unless if that which is in us is not of God. But the root of such human error should not be said to be from God, it was not the spirit of God that made some rise up and claim circumcision was necessary for salvation so also it is not the spirit of God that adds things Jesus never commanded us to do especially when they contradict the love that Jesus preached and taught. Note love doesn't condone evil nor harbor it. Many times we fall victim to false preaching, false teaching and false prophecy because many of us do not have the time to get to know God nor have the Holy Spirit and the understanding of God's word. Imagine someone who works mornings to evening Monday to Friday only opens the bible on Sundays and even if they do read during the week, do they spend time studying it? This has lead to mass deception and acceptance of error. |
How can the spirit in you which reveals to you the secrets of men and gives you power not be able to reveal the truth of the holy scriptures that pertains to the salvation of souls, if such spirit is from God. For understanding and knowledge of the word of God comes from the spirit of God. Now we know even the devil quotes scripture and knows God's word even from the beginning but he twists it like he did while tempting Jesus. I have been asked how is it possible for there to be different teachings of certain subjects within the church, is the spirit of God two, the many interpretations which contradict each other causes confusion? |
Elohimisgood:🤥 it is actually spelt HVHY |
Daejumong:1. Repent and every single dime they gave you give to the poor 2. Tell us who that "spiritual father" of yours is, for the sake of his other gullible "sons" that their sons who may view this post so their souls do not perish 3. If the yahoo boys do not repent and return the money they defrauded, you have an obligation to be just and report such a case to the necessary authorities Because the day you will be arrested either while you're on earth or in hell is not too far away. |
Our Daily Light As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. For he has called us to receive his own glory and goodness! Through this knowledge he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. Do you know Jesus? Do you know what he has called you for? Do you know his power and what he has provided for you? Do you know his promises for your life? Without knowing this things you cannot resist the temptations of this world we live in. That's why Peter then writes; For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness (righteous deeds, virtue, good character), so with diligence not wasting time concerning the promises to your life build upon your faith righteousness by using faith to do good and develop an excellent character; and to then it knowledge, for righteous leads to getting to know God better; and to your knowledge of God, self control which is discipline that comes from knowing God, and this leads to perseverance and enduring patiently long-suffering which enables you to be devoted to God. For with such character knowledge and patience that leads to devotion, you will be kind and graciously love others especially other believers. These things will make you useful to God, active, effective and fruitful in your knowledge of Lord Jesus Christ. The more you grow like this, possessing these qualities, you will not be barren and idle but bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit and shows that you know Jesus. For whoever lacks these qualities is blind, not seeing what they have, they are [spiritually] shortsighted, seeing only what is near to him, and has become oblivious [to the fact] that he was cleansed from his old sins. (2 Peter 1:3-9; and freed from the Law like Paul wrote) Prayer Point Today Father I want to know you more and your Son Jesus Christ, enable me to obey him and do your will. Give me diligence and godly character, help me to persevere in your will and be devoted to you and love others in Jesus name. Amen |
kpakpandoN:does Pastor Adeboye realise why the people sort to bring the best of the sheep and animals to sacrifice to God, they brought the tithe of it, the firstfruit of it to give to God yet Samuel said does God delight in offering and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice. God said this is my beloved son, my word, listen to him yet these men preach tithes and firstfruits to honor God while ignoring that these instructions were never given by the very person we are to obey and listen to, Jesus Christ. This man would always add this poison mixed in, "True worshippers are so in love with God that they worship Him by serving Him and giving to His work in tithes and offerings." |

Daejumong:Seeking God through the dead is against the law David was chased by his son if not for God's mercy. David made other mistakes as well, his reaction to his sins are different from those of Saul. Saul was a legalistic person, he almost killed his own son for not fasting if not that the people pleaded, he killed the priests because they feed David, but David was merciful and you would see several examples of David's act of mercy, blessed are the merciful for they will obtain mercy. In all, the heart is what matters, Saul gave excuses for his offenses, David immediately repented and that's what we need to learn when confronted with our wrongs do we excuse them and explain them or genuinely repent from them. Imagine David feeling wrong that God was punishing him for counting the people he was ruling over. 😆 |
Donaldoni:is that so |
Donaldoni:Tithing are for Levites, the poor and the like, payable in the land of Israel. The Levites are of the tribe of Levi a son of Israel. Those who established their own priesthood like the Danities and Jeroboam were cut off by the Lord. So those who claim to be priests who are not of the Levites and are collecting tithes claiming God told them so are thieves and liars. Abraham didn't pay but he gave all, he took nothing, he freely gave a portion to Melchizedek who never asked for it and the rest back to the people after those who went to war with him took their portion. And it wasn't recorded that he did so ever again and it was never from his personal property. Malachi wrote to the priests who had access to the storehouse, whom God was speaking to. Jesus never collected it, though his ministry was supported by men and women, and he never commanded his disciples whom he sent forth to collect it and they never did and no record of them ever doing so exists. Jesus taught giving not tithing not because he lacked knowledge of the scripture but because he taught God's love, mercy and compassion. Why don't you teach the tithe and reveal God's love through it |
