Donaldoni: The scriptures are clear enough. I can't waste my time answering you directly.
Genesis 14:18-20 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: 20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Hebrews 7:1-2 1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
Malachi 3:10-12 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. 12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
Matthew 23:23 23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Luke 11:42 42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
2 Timothy 3:16 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. John.5.39 You search and investigate and pore over the Scriptures diligently, because you suppose and trust that you have eternal life through them. And these [very Scriptures] testify about Me! |

jasena: Please I need the spiritually discerning to shed more light the topic. There is this woman selling petty foodstuf on the street usually take home in semi rural area I moved into temporarily for work. She consistently demands I buy her drink. Initially, I tried to support her by buying items from her stall. However, she became aggressive and confrontational when I stopped buying from her. To avoid conflict, yesterday I gave her ₦1,000 cash yesterday after she refused a drink offer insisting on cash.
But when I told others on the street they blamed me very badly , saying everyone avoids her ithat she is Diabolic and will use the money against me. So I'm asking does this power actually exist or work? If so, what should we do to save ourselves? don't try to save yourself let Jesus save you instead, just as you don't know if she is evil or not is the same way Jesus doesn't expect us to know when what we eat or drink is poisoned and said those who believe and are baptized they will eat poison but it won't hurt them. Not saying we won't fall sick but to give you confidence that your main source of protection can only come from God who sees all. Do you believe? |

jesusjnr2020: How A Few Words Humbled An Anointed Prosperity Preacher
It was shortly after God instructed me to leave my former church and while I yet sought His guidance on the next step to take, that I was paid a visit by a man I had never met before, who was accompanied by a friend of mine that led him to my place.
I got to know he was a preacher seeking some help concerning a divine assignment he wanted to embark on in Abuja, hence why he was brought to me.
The preacher said he used to organise crusades and that God had worked several miracles through him in those meetings, including healing the daughter of the president at the time (OBJ).
He also said that he plans to start a branch of his ministry in Abuja where I was located, and that he believes God had led him to me for that purpose.
I said to him that I wouldn't mind if God instructs me to do so, since He was the One that made me leave the church I was previously working with and kept me waiting.
But he wasn't satisfied with that reply. He wanted a straight "yes" from me before he left, so he tried to persuade me by all means, including making promises of material and financial gains if I agreed to what he asked and also praying a dramatic prayer in that regard.
He must have underestimated me perhaps because of my appearance and that I wasn't rich and famous yet. He probably thought I had the mentality of an average Christian who could easily be swayed by such vanities.
He never knew I was Jesus-made, as the apostles, He'd built with the kingdom mindset that the true quality of a man lies not in the abundant possession of such worldly things. Luke 12:15, Acts 3:6.
I just "shook my head" why he was yet trying to convince me, because I wasn't impressed at all by the man despite all his bragging and showing off.
Even if he was truly anointed and had done such miracles as he claimed, i strongly believed that if God could entrust such a man with power to that extent, He was going to entrust me with much more considering how shallow the man had proven himself to be in the things of the Spirit.
So regardless of what he said or did persuade me, I kept insisting that it hinged on only if God instructs me to do what he asks of me until the man left.
I expected the preacher to be disappointed that he didn't succeed despite all his efforts to convince me because of my persistence to hinge my decision only on God's instruction, however I was shocked to find out the next time I met my friend that it had the exact opposite effect.
My friend told me after they left my place that the man went and sat down somewhere and began to reflect on his (spiritual) life.
He told my friend that he felt seriously challenged by his brief meeting with me, as I kept insisting that I won't make a move without first hearing from God. He wasn't used to extent of dogged commitment to the things of God despite being a preacher himself.
My friend himself wasn't surprised to hear this from the man, as he also told the man it's the same way my life had challenged him too. He was deeply moved by my boldness to preach the Gospel unashamedly, he once told me it was his earnestly desire and dream to do so, and that he believed that one day what God was using me to do, God would use him to do the same.
The preacher kept repeating what I said about not making a decision until I heard from God, and then said to my friend, "you see all these preachers you're seeing today, this guy would be greater than all of them."
When my friend said that, I instantly knew that flesh and blood hadn't reveal that to the man but the Spirit of God because it had also been revealed to me and I wasn't the one that told the man that.
My friend told me that while they were yet together, the preacher man prayed for a mad man they saw and the mad man got healed, shortly before he left.
God bless. Used to think in line with some of the things you said But my question for you is, who told you that God was the one who anointed that man? Not saying couldn't and some have corrupted it, but to say God will anoint you more than someone He may have not anointed |

John.15.13 - Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. John.15.14 - You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. Christianity Etc › Re: Nigerian Church Is It A Place Of Worship Or A Marketplace? by gohf: 10:15am On Nov 24, 2024 |
Wisewriter: Before you criticize me, I am a Christian, my mother is a woman leader and my father died in the body of Christ. I stopped going to church for personal reasons 7years ago. Now back to my main topic;
21st Century Church A Place of Buying and Selling or a Place or Worship?
The church is meant to be a place of worship, prayer, and spiritual growth, where believers gather to glorify God and strengthen their faith. However, in recent times, some churches have shifted from this sacred purpose, turning their services into business ventures. Pastors selling "miracle water," "anointed oil," and other spiritual items are exploiting the faith of their followers, promising blessings and miracles in exchange for money. This commercialization of religion has become a concerning trend.
This practice contradicts the teachings of Jesus Christ, who condemned the selling of goods in the temple. In Matthew 21:12-13, Jesus entered the temple and drove out the merchants, declaring, "My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers." Jesus' righteous anger highlights the sacred nature of the church, warning against turning it into a place for financial gain. Unfortunately, many churches today seem to ignore this teaching, embracing practices Jesus himself rejected.
The church should remain a place for spiritual nourishment, where believers focus on worship, prayer, and the Word of God. Selling items for profit distorts the true mission of the church and undermines the faith of its members. It’s essential for church leaders to return to the original purpose of the church serving God and guiding people in truthrather than exploiting them for financial gain. The church is a sanctuary, not a marketplace.
I am A Nairander/Writer and Critical Thinker they should first repent, true repentance and not just public sentiment and managing the situation but true repentance because some, those lovers of money, have made their place of worship a den of thieves where they worship money and not God JHVH. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Did Jesus Tell Us Not To Judge Or People Misunderstood Him? by gohf: 12:26pm On Nov 23, 2024 |
Corrections: It is with this understanding that we can see why despite Jesus advice to us not to call someone a “fool “ but still used the same word on someone.
Matt 5:22 kj But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, ‘Raca,’ shall be in danger of the council; but whosoever shall say, ‘Thou fool,’ shall be in danger of hell fire.
To be in “danger of Hell” is like being in danger of being brought to heavens court of judgement, and after investigations, if found guilty you will be punished. Now, Jesus speaking based on heaven’s standard of truth, called someone “fool”.
Matthew 23:17
17 You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? I would love to invite and have you at the Gate of Hope Fellowship 07034883485 |
