cldnt bring myself to watch d video.

even though they may have committed uncountable evil crimes, i dont think anyone deserves that kind of torture.

moreso, d killers have no right to take lives and in such a barbaric manner.

i feel more for d killers.to think that they had such hard hearts to do that is really puzzling. its pure wickedness and heartlessness
Christianity EtcRe: An Open Letter To Nigerian Christians by goofie: 12:39pm On Oct 08, 2012
afam4eva: I've lived with muslims most of my life and there hasn't been anything i've had a course to suspect them as they've always been no different from the Christian and everyone that i've lived. It's sad that a small group of people who unfortunately are muslims have soiled the name of the religion all over the world in the name of fighting for their religion. But many muslim clerics have come out to quote that no where in the Qoran did it state that muslims should go out and kill innocent people. Those people who kill in the name of Allah are just criminals and nothing more. Anybody who takes what they say as word should also be ready to believe the devil. Why can't we as human beings be rational for once in our lives and stop putting everybody in one basket. We can't paint Islam bad simply because of the sins of a few. Let's be reasonable and not judge people by the color of their skin, their creed, religion, ethnicity but by the strength of their character.
am in love...

Christianity EtcRe: An Open Letter To Nigerian Christians by goofie: 11:45am On Oct 08, 2012
i really feel the post is an attempt to creating peace.

the poster stated that muslims r not obligated or urged to kill.but the percentage of muslims that kill is too high to disregard.

i wish all muslims shared ur views but unfortunately they dont.

even muslims on nairaland endorsed the killings

Jobs/VacanciesRe: A Letter To All Job Seekers by goofie: 5:05pm On Oct 04, 2012
Wallie: One thing you have to understand that it is human nature to think that the “grass is greener on the other side.” What makes you think that your next job will be any better?

I don't know what you've been through personally but I have a had time believing that there's nothing wrong with a person that quit 2 jobs in two years especially in this atmosphere. So what you have to be the business manager, secretary to the CEO and Auditor? Have you ever heard of paying your dues? Don’t you think being able to multi-task and learn all those different skills makes you more marketable to the next company or better yet, provide you with the skills necessary to run your own company?

For the life of me, I simply can’t fathom why you would quit a job without a backup plan! You come across as having a sense of entitlement but I guess time will tell if it is deserved or not.
i do agree that he shldnt have quit without getting anoda.

but i feel that though the various jobs he was handling would help him in future, it cld also cause a nervous breakdown if he continues to overstress his system without adequate rest.

what he shld hv done as u guys alrdy said, was to talk to d management first and then if nothing is done, he shld start trying to secure anoda job and then quit.

RomanceRe: Marrying A Nigerian Pastor: What Is it Like? by goofie: 5:00pm On Oct 03, 2012
dasparrow: Is true oh. I just read about Bishop Benenoch who is the founding pastor of Communion Church in Lagos and the president bishop of communion church worldwide who is set to divorce his wife and the mom of his 3 kids Esther Benenoch whom he has been married to for 20 years! He just announced it recently to his church congregation. The reason Bishop Benenoch gave for divorcing his wife of 20 years? He said it was for spiritual reasons and he did not go any further to explain what he meant by that to the surprise of his followers.

@Post

So yes, I won't trust most Nigerian "men of God" back in Nigeria because you never know the day they will wake up from the wrong side of the bed and go to church to tell their congregation that you are no longer the church's "mummy in the Lord" LOL grin

I will say just pray and seek God's face because not everyone who is in pastoral ministry was called for it by God. Some people became a pastor so they won't have to work 9 to 5 five days a week. They won't have to worry about getting sacked/fired. They will have a steady income coming in each week thanks to tithes and offerings from church members. Lastly, they will be worshiped by their followers/congregants because most Nigerian Christians actually treat their pastors like a mini god. I know God is not happy with Christians who show more respect to a mere mortal (pastor) than to Him the Almighty Jehovah God.
its not about the title.its about the person.

RomanceRe: Marrying A Nigerian Pastor: What Is it Like? by goofie: 2:26pm On Oct 03, 2012
bankylan: I seldom visit nairaland these days...but i wonder why nairalanders always speak about Pastors....
But to answer your question, I think the question is flawed. Marriage decision should be about what defines the particular person....what is his personality....If being a Nigerian pastor is all that defines him, then you may be making a wrong choice. Who is he outside his pastoral duties? This should be your concern as you will live with his person more than his duties?
But if this questions is all about mocking the Nigerian pastor, then it will be very unfortunate....
if it is easy to be a pastor and make money, I wonder why some critics have not decided to be pastors.
Pastors don't live on tithes, and in an ideal church, pastors don't have anything to do with Church's tithes. Most pastors are on salary, and some don't even collect salary because they have their own business.

Most of you often question the decision of pastors to own business, but you have failed to acknowledge the fact that pastors have responsibilities of providing for their immediate family and sending their children to good schools. Besides, if a Pastor has not defeated poverty, how will he convince his members that God is able to provide for all their needs. I grew up in CAC, and I know how pastors and their families suffer to live. But things are changing now, and most pastors are business minded. Shepherding a church does not exclude you from doing business. It is nothing but a mental laziness not to think of strategic business that will not take your time. It is now all about insights, and that is the advantage of some pentecostal pastors we have today. In my church, my Pastor is the number one tither. He preaches on Tue, Wed, and twice on Sundays, yet he still have time for his private business. There are so many other pastors like that. It is quite unfortunate that many people still expect to see Pastors in tattered dress, and cherish the the feelings that they are the one feeding pastors and his family.
I just have the feelings that most people here abusing men of God are still in their twenties or have not encountered the power of God in their lives. Most critics I have met in my life are the most frustrated human beings on earth. But I have never seen a rich and blessed person criticize anyhow. Constructive criticism is welcomed, but when it comes to being abusive, then I can bet that the critics are either poor, broke, jobless, frustrated, or unbelievers.
i feel u. i bliv that pple who make such remarks abt pastors, tithes, etc probably dont even go 2 church. dey sit and cross their legs and jst judge them.
LiteratureRe: How Come You Are African? by goofie: 2:13pm On Oct 03, 2012
afam4eva: You say you are African, yet you watch CNN and BBC instead of sticking to NTA channel 5 ans 10

You say you are African yet you go to KFC instead of branching into mama Nkechi or Iya Wasiu's joint

You say you're African yet you drink Heineken instead of Tombo(palm wine)

You say you're African yet you go to school instead of going to your village to farm

You say you are African, yet you drive the flashiest of cars instead of riding the village bicycle

You say you're African yet you wear clothes instead of walking buck nakked

The moral of this is that if we really want to be African then we'll have to forfeit majority of the things we use today. let's stop deceiving ourselves. My major concern is that our people don't forget their culture or language while importing some of these western ideals. There should be a meeeting point.
hilarious! good one.

you say u r African yet u type on a computer rather than use a slate.

pastor is a title, christianity is a life.

jst forget his title n jst see him as a man.cos if u try to view him based on the "pastor", u myt be disappointed.

his personality, character, and ideas about life cnt be overshadowed by a title.

study him and treat him like a mere man and respect him as ur husband first before u see him as a pastor

RomanceRe: What's Wrong With Virgins? by goofie: 12:26pm On Oct 03, 2012
MRbrownJAY: @OP
Is it not also that many of these virgins are quick to state their hymen status, simply because they strongly believe that they are BETTER than the many ladies who aren't virgin any longer?!

Another sad fact is that many of these women believe that being a virgin at a certain age (or with a certain look) is an achievement rather than a problem..... And therefore telling this to the world will solve their MAIN problem, which is to finally attract the right guy to pop their cherry.

And then you have the serial virgins........ Aka the ones who boast about their virginity, and actually feel like celebrities simply because they are still virgin, and since they love the "attention" it brings to their sad lives, they are ultimately trapped in a zone where they CAN'T fukc anyone because if they do, they will become common human beings like us all.

Remember, if there is nothing special about a person, then that person will try to bring out anything to shine and make that person stand out amongst us. Normally your great character/look/personality/charisma should be the key, but to some they have nothing but a big pair of tittays ( that they like to flaunt at every occasion), some money (that they like to flaunt to attract attention from golddigaz) etc...... It's all about ATTENTION!
very interesting piece. i like

virginity is good and could be a proof of virtue or not.

keeping it cld be considered a rare gift. but 4 a woman basing her whole being and importance on d fact that shes a virgin is kinda foolish.

as a pastor said recently, some women dt hv kept themselves marry end up marrying over used men. while those dt deserve 3rd hand men marry tear rubber
