@op, the maternity leave in Nigeria is now 84 working days, which is almost 4 months, as for me o, at 4 months, i introduce light cereals to my kids, so, i think 4 months exclusive breasfeeding is okay, please, dont overstress madam, some kids are not even breasfed at all, due to one reason or the other, and they survived, i dont believe that kids that are exclusively breastfed are better that those that are not, so, if after 4 months, madam is resuming work, introduce light cereal to him. Some organisations have daycare inside their compound for nursing mothers, if there is one in madam's working place, let her use it, she will be going there once in a while to attend to the baby in form of breastfeeding, which means the baby will still be suckling, but not exclusively, and the night is there for him to suckle through out. So, no cause for alarm, your boy will still enjoy the bosom milk very well.
But if you still insist on exclusive breastfeeding for you baby till 6 months, then adopt Efe's method, get a very good breast pump, and make sure there is constant light, because it will have to be put in the fridge, then, when its time for the baby to feed, the milk is warmed and given to him.

~ ask him whatever you are afraid of about him over and over again, in order for you to be convinced beyond reasonable doubt.

~ get to know his parents, siblings and if necessary, his relatives, and ask questions from them especially his parents and siblings, of those things that really matters to you.

~ make yourself known to some of his friends, let them know who you are to him, and if possible, be closer to one or two of them and ask some questions on the things that is bothering you.


~once in a while, attend his church, tell him to introduce you to his pastor, this will give you opportunity to ask him some questions from him in the presence of the pastor.


The steps above may help you to know him better, but NEVER marry a man you are not convinced of, if you are always in doubt or always afraid of whatever he tells you, it means you are not convinced enough.

The ASUU I know will never join anyone (not even the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities) in any solidarity rubbish.

The problem with our lecturers is: They think PhD equates Large, Fat money.. Too many demands.. high expectation.

Some of these profs, earn between N700,000 - N1,000,000 basic salary monthly.
Plus sabaticals, free lecture hours (for business), other income from affiliate programs (Pre-degree, Post-Graduate, Professional degrees etc), allowances, visiting lecturers to other schools (not free), consultancy (not free), books and publications (for sale) etc..

They keep complaining about the time spent writing journals (journals meant for their OWN quick promotion, money, not STUDENTS).


Yet they keep comparing themselves with people who earn average sums working almost 20hours a day without any opportunity to do other works.

Now it would be very foolish for NLC to tell someone who earn N20K a month to sit at home in solidarity for a group of people who do not care about their existence.

Well, well, well! It is an individual thing, it has to do with one's reasoning. I have two examples that are direct opposite of each other.

I have a step aunt who has only one child, but she and her hubby are always concerned about "God's time is the best" for their only son, they always advise their child not to rush about anything, that, what will be will be, they believe in God, that, He alone is the one that can make things beautiful in its time, so, they are never worried or anxious about their only son, what they are busy doing is continueadmonishing him in the way of God. He is almost 26 years old now, but, has not been once pushed to do anything in haste. I give kudos to them for this.


The second example is about one of my senior colleague who is an only child of his mother at my working place, "iya e ti ba aye e je patapata".
The man is an only child of his mother, but have several other step siblings, according to what he told us, his mother brought a wife for him at the age of 16, and asked him to start giving her grandchildren, he said, by the time he clocked 22, he already has 4 children, and at that age too, he gained admission into the university, while going for his studies, his mother married another wife for him to take along to school, while at school and before he finished in schhool, he had "manufactured" another 4 children, imagine!, not to talk about many other concubines, infact, this man's life is messed up, he confessed that he cant do without having intimacy in just one day, he confessed that he doesnt know what his mother have done to him spiritually, that, he is all about anything in skirt, he has got so many querries, just because hes having an appointment with gfs, infact, the man is a shadow of himself now, he want to stop this type of lifestyle, but couldnt just stop.. Just last week, this man was telling some of us that he had slept with more than 400 women, single ladies o, pregnant women o, married women o, even children sef, its only God who can save him......his wives are already used to it, he even invite some of his gfs home and the wives will not talk, they will even be thanking God that, atleast, the man will let them rest that day, he has more than 40 known children, but, btw, his mother is stinkingly rich, so, the man does have problem with money to spend on those women, but, that man use to lament, that, its his mother that spoil his life patapata, he admit that there must be something that his mother must have done to him, in form of charms that always make him to always want to have s..ex with any woman that agrees to sleep with him.
He is just 50+years old, according to him

So, op, it depends on individual, but one thing i am sure of is that, if you say because you have only one child, and you over pamper him/her, you rush him/her into having children, this child will curse you at the end of the day. Its better to let them be.......there is time for everything, and He has made everything beautiful in its time, says the bible.

@op, that is the right thing to do, i do it always, not only in buses, i do it in banks also, there are some banks that you will have to que on sit and be shifting, but when the sits are full,others stand, until there is space on the chair, i dont feel comfortable seeing elders standing while im sitting, so, i ask them to sit while i stand. And i have also enjoyed it severally, youngies use to stand up for me to sit, maybe, im reaping what i've sown.....you know, karma never dies.


Also, not only in the area of standing for elders alone, i also help older people to carry part or even all, (if i can) of their luggage. It pays, im always happy when i make others happy, and i fill fulfilled when they start raining blessings on me.


Let us all cultivate the habit, it pays, and remember, you will also be of age......what you sow is what you are going to reap.

And now, you will say "northern part is backward" why wont it be so?, when they have refused to allow their female children education. When a woman is educated, she will definately affect the children, also, when they are not educated, same thing, and that is one of the reasons almajiris will continue to be in multiples. So, with this statistic, northern part of this country can not and will not develop, except their women stand up for their rights and fight for it vehemently, until then, let them continue to swim in their ignorance.
