It is important to know that a true believer in God does not oppose evidence based facts. But in addition to that, he believes in Godly sources where his perception of what constitutes a fact is limited.

For example, a blind man's sense of what constitutes a fact is limited to touch and a few other things (sight not included). However, If he has a trusted friend who is not blind like him and who always tells him the truth he will be able to widen his perception by the aid of that friend thereby avoiding running into walls.
