Adebowale89:How do you mean accommodate my kinsmen? If by that you refer to the Igbos living in SW while conveniently forgetting Yorubas in the SE, then you definitely deserve all the Fulanis dish out to you and more. Did you give out your land and houses to the Igbos in SW for free? Didn't they purchase them just like Yorubas living in the SE? Your hatred for the Igbos which oozes out from every single comment you make is why we are here talking about how to free your people from their masters' chains. |
Adebowale89:What is even your problem with the Igbos? Eze ndigbo is just an appellation that shows someone is the leader of Ndigbo in a particular place. Even the Yorubas have their leaders in SE and you don't see Igbos carrying placards and whining over that. Have you ever heard of any Igbo anywhere outside of SE killing the indigenes and dragging their land? This is the major problem with you guys: you'd prefer to bury your heads in the sand while attacking innocent Igbos going about their businesses, meanwhile, some others are ravaging your land, abolishing your traditions and kings right under your nose. Continue. |
Whether the middle belt likes it or yes, the Middle belt is Hausa / Fulani. Simple. Na now una eyes open. When you fought your SE neighbours during the civil war just because they wanted to be independent, you didn't realize you were giving up your own autonomy? Each time you consistently support north in politics just because of tribal and religious reasons, you don't know you're affirming your master/slave relationship with them? Middle belt, una good morning o. |
akinyeleaa:Just shut that trap Mister! You have no moral right whatsoever to criticize this present government. You and your type are part of the major problems of this country. After jumping all over nairaland supporting Buhari against Jonathan, and castigating Igbos, you're here now shamelessly trying to switch lane just because it doesn't favour you again. Just shut that thing you call a mouth and hide your head in shame! |
Is it not now clear to everyone who has sense that there is serious plan underway to dominate and subjugate the South? When Seasterners were saying this during the last general election, some people who felt they were wise were insulting them. Where are all those who campaigned and voted for Buhari? Where are all the Monikers that kept on screaming "Sai baba!" all over nairaland? Have you now accepted that you were foolish beyond description? Next time, you'll understand that it's not by sentiments and tribalism; your actions and inactions have direct and indirect consequences on you and your people. |
How can SW see all these evils perpetrated on them and still insist on Buhari? It's really mind-boggling. Infact, Sw should be at fore front of campaigning against Buhari. But again, when you sell yourself to the devil for a measly meal, when the meal purges you, how do you then complain? |
“I never said Bini owned Lagos… " And you never said Yorubas owned Lagos, right? Are you now implying Lagos is a no man's land? Smh. This is what you get when people deliberately attempt to twist history; you'll say one thing today and a different thing tomorrow, according to the political climate. But we all know the truth: if anyone should claim ownership of Lagos., then it should be the Binis. |
I honestly don't know how else to make those parasites from Osun State understand this: Lagos does not belong to Yorubas. Almost all the royalties in Lagos have spoken out concerning this, yet those lazy parasites who invaded Lagos and have sought to erode the history of Lagos with their twisted version have refused to listen. The facts are there. No amount of revisionism, propaganda and manipulations will make us forget the true history of Lagos - that is, Lagos doesn't belong to the Yorubas. Yorubas came just like other ethnic groups and met Lagos already owned. |
asawanathegreat:Bros, I take heaven beg you, leave the Igbos out of this. |
Alcatraz005:You just spoilt a beautiful thread your nonsense childish comments. I even doubt if you're Yoruba; cos Yorubas know how to choose their fight. |
OP thanks for this. I usually tell people that every body is capable of making First class if everything is equal (ceteris paribus). It all depends on the strategy employed by each person. My formula for making First class in Nigeria is: Don't overlook or underestimate any course or assignment or presentation or anything; Take everything very seriously by way of preparation. If you're good at cramming, then by all means cram and make sure you can download every single detail on your answer sheet. Don't take anything for granted. Aim to make an "A" in every single course. The difference between a First class student and the rest is simply preparation; the amount and quality of preparation put in. This is where the "God factor" comes in. A higher being will help to align some things in your favour. |
Summary: Lagos is a no man's land. Aworis came. Binis came. Ijaws came. Eguns came. Yorubas came. Freed slaves (could have been Ijaws, Igalas, Idomas etc) came to Lagos. And others came too. Who came first and when is what is debatable. Lagos = No man's land. |
geosegun:Abraham! Are you in Nigeria at all? How could you say that there are no more Igbo titled movies these days? Have you not heard of the award winning Igbo-titled movies 'Nkoli Nwa nsukka' or 'Ada Mbanno' to mention a few? What do you think the DSTV African Magic dedicated to Igbo movies airs? By the way, the OP said extinction of the Igbos, not just Igbo language or Culture. Culture is dynamic; very few people will claim they've maintained their culture without influence from others for even as little as 50 years. I tell you the Igbo culture and tradition is not different. What is important is to keep the useful ones in line with development and progress, borrow some from other people, and do away with the obsolete ones. |
@ proudlyYoruba, you've have come again with this una jaundiced version of history. You will twist history in favor of Yorubas while cunningly denigrating that of others. In future now, the young Yorubas will carrying on with the false history fed to them. |
OP you're talking out of ignorance. Igbos and Igbo language have survived for many thousands of years, what now makes you think that that Igbo language will go extinct all of a sudden? You really need to study the Igbos. Igbos are one of the most adaptable people on earth. Igbos can perfectly live and survive in any place while not forgetting their home towns. It's in their gene. It's in their culture. An Igbo man may live abroad for several years but almost always makes sure he builds a house in his home town. They usually have this Igbo association anywhere on earth that Igbos are. Go to SE and observe what happens every Sunday. Have you not heard of August meeting in Igbo land? What do you think it's for? Don't just categorically state things without proper knowledge. |
OP, I like the fact that your poem is an attempt to characterize the concept of Day and Night. I'd like to ask though: What specific attributes of Day and Night made you refer to them as "twins" ? Is your poem a comparison of Day and Night as 'twin' to the human twin? Nice effort by the way. |
Alright |
Adebowale89:You're nothing but a two-timing two-faced tribalist who's only now whining because you just weren't lucky to be pre-selected. What happened to all the praises you heaped on this administration ,and curses and aspersions you threw on anyone who dared advice you otherwise? You were warned severally but your hatred wouldn't let you listen. |
Ihatepork:Shame on you. I know your type very well; you can turn the truth on it's head shamelessly when you see the opposite gender. |
ofai:Who are you? What qualifies you to speak to the great Anambra people in that tone? What is your problem? You better delete this nonsense before I give you a heavy e-knock that you will feel physically. |
CrtlAltDel:I can only tell you this: Travel and see. |
Danladi7:Not quite. You seem not to understand the concept of "no man's land". That is a tag most emerging cities in Nigeria, and all over the world, would have to live with. The issue of ownership of Lagos is another issue altogether. I assure you, however, that there are core facts as to the first inhabitants of Lagos . When you insist on a United Nigeria, and have even gone to war because of that, but goes ahead to see some certain people as visitors, then there lies the problem. |
Op you have a problem. You have this psychological complex of always wanting to be accepted by outsiders; you need others to make you feel you "belong". |
Bari22:Sha*me on you. |
Gotze1:Have you ever heard of Bight of Benin / Biafra that was even mentioned in the OP? If you haven't, no need to read it up, just know that teleportation can take you from Benin to Lagos. |
laudate:What are the "historical antecedents and evidence that tell the factual origins of Lagos Island and it's inhabitants" that only you and Osun parasites know that is factual than what Oba Akiolu and other core indigenes of Lagos State have said? Do tell us something else apart from the myth of how one person is the progenitor of the whole people in present day SW. |
baysol:Why do you always like picking on the Igbos? You're dragging a Bini man's land and you're here wailing about the Igbos. Does that make sense even to you? |
Ezigbonmadu:mtcheww... this dumbo is talking about JAMB when we're discussing serious issues. Smh. no be only JAMB. You think say everybody na undergraduate like you. |
FisifunKododada:I seriously find it distasteful how you've been mentioning the revered monarch of Benin flippantly in your comments. You need to exercise some restraint. |
FisifunKododada:You're just ranting unnecessarily online. You think you can cunningly coerce Binis to cede Lagos state to Yorubas? What have you done about the Obas and several other people who have affirmed that Lagos doesn't belong to the Yorubas? Better steer clear of Lagos. |
bkool7:You're capable of carrying out an independent research, aren't you? |
TVTKOKO:How does this counter what I said? Smh... You seem to lack the ability of comprehension. |

Am not even from the SW. And Layi Ajayi-Bembe is not an established authority on Lagos-Benin history, or Benin-Yoruba ancestral ties.
